thoughts/ramblings re ascended Astarion
(Act 3 spoilers)
I want to preface this by saying I completely understand why people would like or prefer this version and I have no beef with them, these are just my own opinions and feelings after playing through that route with a certain type of character
(I have not finished the final battle, but otherwise this run of the game is complete)
The only word I can really come up with to describe A!Astarion is âunsettlingâ. Which, imo, is exactly how it is supposed to be for a character who genuinely loved and cared about him and wanted to have their love reciprocated the same way.
I have to also extend a ton of credit to Neil Newbon, bc when he said he essentially âgot to play two charactersâ, he was 100% correct and I think he nails both of them.
In terms of the way the sudden change in character felt, I would liken it to if you had a spouse who was kind of a smarmy bastard but otherwise not too horrible of a person - they had faults and you knew it, accepted them anyway. And then one day they get likeâŠthis huge promotion at work that changes their entire personality. Maybe they went from prison guard to prison warden, and prison guard!spouse was fine and could be put in their place when they got a little too cocky or power hungry, but prison warden!spouse will threaten to snap your neck for trying.
The particular character I was playing is the type who wouldnât care about the âbadâ parts of him until thatâs suddenly all he is. At that point, they realize they made a mistake, but they still love him and desperately want that love reciprocated so they will agree to his demands rather than leave/have him leave. An otherwise confident and independent takes-no-shit character who has one fatal flaw - a debilitating fear of abandonment.
They can see the change immediately, and it terrifies them, but they tell themselves that deep down there still has to be Astarion under there - the Astarion they came to know and care about. If they work at it, maybe they can coax that part of him to come back out. Until then, they will go along with his whims and let him change them too, because the alternative is even more terrifying.
He would be the significant other they frequently make excuses for to the other companions when they express concerns about the way he treats them and other people. And theyâd tell themselves that he wouldnât really hurt them, but at the same time they know that there would be consequences for defiance.
They would feel trapped, used, and owned. But that would seem like a fair price to pay to keep him, still clinging on to the person they used to know him as.
There would come a point where they would have to make that inevitable choice - whether to succumb further to the darkness he dragged them down in, or to stand up for their fate and break away despite how much the loss will hurt. I feel like it could come to a choice between killing him or being killed by him. And deep down, they would know that, even as they agree to let him turn them.
But when he goes on another one of his flowery spiels about how beautiful they are, how much he loves them, they let themselves believe itâs not all empty words despite knowing his âprofessionâ for 200 years was as a lying seducer. Theyâve got to be different, they tell themselves. It will be different. Even when itâs not.
#also that chin grab kiss fuckin got me đ„”#like dgmw I LOVE that fucked up dynamic#with other characters of mine it could go way differently and they would get on well with ascended Astarion#but for this particular character it would end up being a costly mistake#I did actually try to stop him from doing the ritual last minute bc it is possible#but then he kills cazador and gets so mad about you âstealing his chance at freedomâ that he ups and leaves#so knowing that as a consequence of refusing his wishes at that point#my character would keep quiet and let him ascend#and then realize after that they made a terrible terrible mistake#kitchie beszĂ©l#baldur's gate 3#bg3#baldur's gate iii#astarion#ascended astarion#astarion ancunin

Worse than the Devil
youtube
Hey Everyone, I got really inspired by the amazing response to my first fic Queen Of Mean. I decided to write a follow up. Its to Selena Gomezâs version of Cruella De Vil. I loved it when it first came out and it sent shivers when I realized it was perfect for my follow up.
Looking back the missing pigtails in the bluenetteâs hair when she walked into class Monday morning, dressed like she just got off the runaway, flanked by Chloe at her side, shouldâve been the first warning sign.
But in the classâs defense, it had been a crazy weekend. The fireworks that came with Ladybugâs video, Alyaâs meltdown, and Lila being outted as a liar didnât die down after class ended that day. Â No. The weekend had been filled out a never-ending stream of group texts, complaining of hurt feelings, nasty little liars, and why, or why wasnât Marinette replying to their texts? Answering her phone? Didnât she know they were sorry? Didnât she know they needed their everyday Ladybug now more than ever? Alya in particular.
Alya, who had spent the entire weekend, nearly 24/7, trying to save her blog; defend her lifeâs work against the avalanche of criticism that had come itâs way; even the most loyal fans screamed of betrayal. She had released a dozen video explaining what happened and begging her viewers to understand that people make mistakes. Calling Marinette with no answer, texting her best friend for help only to get no reply. Texting Marinette that Lila was a dirty, rotten, liar in over a hundred different way, in over a hundred different texts; only to never get a reply; which Alya never understood. Marinette was right. Lila was a liar. Alya and Marinette should be teaming up to bring her down like their brought down Chloe; stand together like best friends do.
As Alya sat patiently at her desk, with Nino holding her hand in support, waiting for Marinette to arrive so she could find comfort in her bestie, never once did an apology cross her mind. Alya was too indignant, too self-righteous, convinced the Ladybug was victim-blaming. It wasnât Alyaâs fault. Her boyfriend agreed. Her entire class agreed. She just knew, soon, all of Paris would agree.
When Marinette casually strolled in, talking animatedly with Chloe about their week, she left the other students stunned. Gone was the pintails. Gone was the easy-going, simple, practically trademarked pink pants and grey flower decorated shirt. Gone was the happy smile that the students had always remembered was there to greet them and bring them cheer on a sour Monday, like the day was.
Instead, Marinetteâs hair was down and flowing down her shoulders, longer than they could ever remember it being (though granted they hadnât paid much attention to their once friend in last few months, except for giving her a few quick glares and sneers) and was perfectly coiffed with strands pullback in braids that wouldâve made Daenerys Targaryen take notes. She was dressed in all black; a cropped leather jacket, a sparkly black halter top that tied around her neck in a pretty bow, her jeans black and skin tight, and killer high heels that would make most girls envious. The only color Marinette wore was the sliver bracelets adorning her arms and the classic movie star red lips she sported. Marinette looked a supermodel.
And if Marinetteâs new look didnât stunned them. Then the look on her face when she glanced at them sure did. Move over Hawkmoth, because if Marinette didnât scare you, no evil thing could.
It was like the entire classroom went colder. Maybe it was because of the ice in Marinetteâs stare, her curved red-stained smirk that screamed: beware. The way everything about her just screamed predator, alpha, top of the food chain. Queen.
Alya blinked hard. Nino blinked hard. Adrien blinked hard. Too stunned at the sight to even remember to badger the bluenette.  She and Chloe, also dressed like a runaway model, flounced to the back of the class without a hello, a smile, a wave; anything friendly. It was like they were too insignificant for the girls to notice. If they had an ounce of luck still in their lives, that wouldâve been so.
Unfortunately for them that wasnât the case.
The girls were painfully aware of their existence; of every move they made over the week, every stupid text they sent, every false apology uttered. Because the downfall of the Ladyblog was just a taste of what was to come. At this point, Marinette and Chloe was just Spiders waiting for the kill.
âGirl, you donât have to sit with Chloe,â Alya exclaimed. Â âWeâll make room, right?â Nino nodded quickly, eager to give his childhood friend an olive branch.
âWhy wouldnât I want to sit with Chloe?â Marinette asked nonchalantly. âSheâs my best friend.â
What happened next was similar to what, Marinette, thought happened in movie; where the main character says something shocking at a dance, thereâs a sound of a record scratch, and silence as all eyes turn to the speaker.
The smirk the spread over Chloeâs face, the glow that filled her, the thought of the havoc she was about to help commence practically made her purr.
âBest friend?â Alix asked, her pink hair pulled back and her face skeptical. âLast I checked, you were mortal enemies.â
âLast time you check was not long after Lie-La came to class,â Marinette retorted.
âWhich is the last time youâre opinion matter to us,â Chloe added. âOr well to Mari here. I never paid you peasant any mind.â
âYou canât be best friends,â Alya jumped up. âYou shouldnât even be friends. I canât believe it? After what she did to you?â
      The other students nodded.
âShe stole your design.â Rose put in.
âBullied you for years,â Max said.
âRuined your present for teach!â Kim added.
Alya nodded smugly at the class backing her up, and gave Marinette a bright smile and an expectant look that always used to work on cowing the other girl.
âBygones,â Marinette sighed. âI forgave her. And we bonded over how stupid you were at believing Lie-La.â Marinette leaned back in her seat. âBesides itâs not like she ever called me a jealous bitch? Told me to check my sources? Ditched me a million times. Whispered mean words about me right in front of me. And even crueler words behind my back. Chloe would never do that.â
âYou know who would?â Chloe grinned. âYou.â She pointed at Alya. âAnd you.â She pointed at Alix. âAnd you!â At Nino âAnd you, you, you, you. And well everyone here really.â
âChloe maybe be mean; in fact the greatest mean girl Sharpay,â Marinette smiled lovingly at the blond who preened at the praise.
âBut at least Iâm not a bad friend,â Chloe snipped viciously.
âNow Chloe that would imply Iâm still friends with them at all.â
At the statement, students wilted into themselves. Their misdeeds weighed heavily on them. They had been so upset at Lila for lying to them, at themselves for believing her, kicking themselves for not listening to Marinette, they never once considered how Marinette felt about the whole mess. But now they knew, she wasnât happy.
Little did they know just how furious the once sweet girl was.
The two girls turned their attention to each other.
âWasnât this week just amaz!â Chloe said easily. âFashion shows are always just so spectacular.â
âYour mom is, like, the best,â Marinette nodded eagerly. âI still canât believe we got to model.â
Chloe side-eyed the students, pretending they werenât listening. âAnd why not? They were short. And just look at us. Weâre beautiful. We deserved to be on that runway.â
âRunaway?â MylĂšne asked, awed. âYou were in a fashion show.â
Marinette nodded, kindly, though inwardly smirking. âThere are pictures from the show online. Theyâre trending.â So was Marinetteâs social media accounts. âWe got to model with Kate Upton and Bella and Gigi Hadid.â
âWeâre all the rage!â Chloe stated. âMommyâs thinking of making us the faces of her new line. Weâll be in next weekâs issue of Teen Vogue.â
âI posted a few photos on my Insta,â Marinette shrugged. âYou can look if you want, I guess.â It was said with a faux unsure, insecure, unassuming voice; a voice that even the most terrifying vampire bat could have even the smartest of victims dancing to it.
With that the girls went back to their conversation. Pretending they didnât notice their classmates whipping out their phones to verify.
âWOW,â Rose beamed. âThey do have pics with the Hadid sisters. Oh you look so pretty Marinette.â
âDude is that Kendall Jenner?â Kim asked.
âBeyoncĂ©!â Alya yelled. âBeyoncĂ© was there. You met BeyoncĂ©.â
âChill,â Chloe snapped. âWe didnât meet her. We just waved. Jay-Z was there too btw.â
âJay-Z,â Nino whispered in awe.
Before befriending Marinette, Chloe was have gladly lied and said they met the goddess, that was Queen Beyoncé. But Marinette wouldn't suffer liars. And hated anyone who lied about her. Chloe was smart enough to know losing Marinette as a friend would be costly to her; both personally and professionally.
The blond refused to toss away the blessing that was Marinetteâs friendship. Not the like fools before her. They didnât know what they lost. But Chloe would make sure they did.
It had taken weeks of slowly inching her way to being Marinetteâs friend. The girl had been untrusting the blondeâs actions at first. But eventually, Chloe won her over, proved she could be a good friend, if not the best friend Marinette ever had.
And the best part? Chloe didnât have to change. Granted she had to dull unsavory traits like lying and stealing but it was worth it.
âTony. Stark.â Max gulped like he was just told Santa was in fact real. âYou are in a picture with Tony Stark; Iron Man.â
âPepper Potts wanted a vacation,â Marinette said. âPeter, their son, is a friend of mine. We met last summer when he was visiting England with his class. I was there with my grandma. We hit it off. He knew I was nervous about going on stage so he got his mom to come here so he could support me. It was just supposed to be the two of them. Until Mr. Tony realized and followed along. Swore up and down they were trying to ditch him,â Marinette laughed.
âOh please,â Chloe huffed. âHe was proud that his kid was hanging out with a gorgeous French model.â
âTwo gorgeous French models,â Marinette corrected. âThe three of us got ice cream afterwards, remember? I canât wait for this summer. Peter said we can spend of three weeks at Stark Tower; interning. PR for you. Youâll be amazing at it. God knows I could do, though.â She said glumly. Though her internship was going to be assisting the Pepper Potts on her day to day life.
âRidiculous!â Chloe snapped. âUtterly Ridiculous. You know you canât wait to get your hands on Thorâs cape to find out what material Alien princes use. Not to mention the plans I saw for a potential Captain America supersuit.â
Marinette crossed her arms, and huffed. âHey that man is walking around dressed like Americaâs drunk prom date. Someone has to step in.â
âItâs a classic look,â Nathanial told them.
âItâs a crime against fashion,â Marinette hissed.
With that, the girls went back to talking about their weekend and bickering over summer plans. Or at least they tried to.
âYou couldâve invited us,â Alya snapped. âOr at least told us.â
âWhy?â Marinette asked. âWeâre not friends. Why donât you ask Lila how it was? Iâm sure, sheâll happily spin you a yarn about how amazing everything was. And promise youâll meet them next time.â
It was like a slap to the face. The entire class quieted back down; wishing the bell would ring already. And wondering where Miss Bustier was.
Unfortunately for the teacher, quite a few concerned parents and staff members had taken issue with how Bustier had been running her class. Bullying, students being constantly turned into Akumas, why Lila could miss so much school without it being a major issue.
âDonât you think youâre being harsh?â Adrien asked. âTheyâre sorry.â
No, Marinette thought darkly. They werenât. Not yet. But they would be soon.
âOkay,â Marinette shrugged, carelessly, inhumanly. âI donât see why that matters. I accept their apology but it changes nothing. Sorry doesnât fix anything. It doesnât magically make every alright again. Itâs no Ladybug charm. Let it go.â She warned.
While Marinette did have plans to bring down Adrien, they were for a later time. And when she did, it would be painful. And it would break him. Like he helped break her.
For months Adrien had stood by, remained silent as Marinette was made into an outcast, bullied, lost all her friends⊠when he knew. Knew Lila was lying, knew Marinette was just trying to help. After he promised, vowed to have her back. Instead, Adrien let them deface her sketchbook after Lila accuse Marinette of yet another bullying incident; destroying all of Marinetteâs hard work. Despite knowing Marinette couldnât have possible done what Lila said she had. He just let it happen, too afraid to stand up and tell the truth.
Adrien didnât take the hint. Or didnât recognize a warning when he heard it.
âTheir hurting too!â The blond boy defended, outraged at how his everyday Ladybug
âHow?â Marinette asked curiously, innocently reminiscent of the girl who had been their friend who had existed when the world was still a wholesome place. âYou said it yourself itâs not like Lila was hurting anybody. At least thatâs what you told me, remember? You knew Lila was lying since like forever and youâre just fine.â
It went silent again. Adrien paled. Marinette could barely stop the smile from slipping onto her face. If she wasnât careful, they might combined their collective ten brain cells and catch on. See that she was a monster that shouldâve never been released.
âYou knew?â Nino asked in horrified disbelief.
Dozens of hurt filled eyes trained on Adrien. It was at that moment Ms. Mendeleiev walked into class. âStudents, Iâll be filling in today and possibly for the rest of the week. Everyone in their seats. Class is about to begin.â
It was the smoothest devastation Chloe had ever witnessed and grew up with her mother and Gabriel Agreste as role models.
In few years, the blonde knew there would be few would who hesitate to call Marinette, or herself, the devil. Too stunned to realize just how much worse either girl was.
Chloe glanced at the girl who had become her best friend, and fellow mean-girl-in-arms. Marinette had her bluebell eyes trained on the chaos she had just unleashed, once again, on her fellow classmates.
A lessor man, woman wouldâve shivered. Chloe had shivered and had nightmares the first time that gaze rested on her.
However, when time wore off the shock; Chloe realize sheâd only see those type of eyes watching from underneath a rock.
If you werenât scared of the New Marinette, then you hadnât met her yet.
Look out world, Chloe thought. Long Live the Queen.

Up in Flames chapter 15Â - Suckerpunch (Ashes Part 2)

Driving. As exhilarating as flying could be, for a grounder nothing rarely beat driving. Even Sideswipe, as much as he enjoyed heights, wouldnât have wanted to switch his wheels for wings. It was enough that he could facilitate short-term flight with his jetpack. That was all heâd ever asked for.
Sunstreaker didnât fear heights any more than his brother did, and he enjoyed well paved roads as much as he did.
They were all sporty vehiclesânamely, him, Sideswipe, Drag Strip, and Wildrider of all mechaâand it was a true race as they tore through the roads at utterly reckless speeds. The artificial limitations on their engines were done away with in favor of chasing Wildridre and Drag Strip and being chased by them, because the Decepticons for sure didnât bother even pretending they were normal Earth vehicles.Â
No normal Earth vehicle, definitely not ones of their respective alt-modes, could reach the speeds they were going at.
The sparkling was just about soaring, pulsing its excitement madly, and Sunstreaker had to admit he felt quite a bit of that emotion himself. Not just because of the speeds they were traveling in, but because driving with Wildrider would have been utterly terrifying, were Sunstreaker prone to the emotion. The mech was mad. Absolutely mad, and on the road with him was the last place you wanted to be in.Â
But theyâd never said no to a good challenge, and when Wildrider had asked if theyâd like to go out for a drive with him⊠Good sense would have said âhell noâ.
They had no good sense, apparently. All theyâd needed to do to get permission to go from the high and mighty command was take along a fourth mech, and it was only natural to ask another of the Stunticons. Drag Strip, then, because racing the ambitious mech absolutely obsessed with always winning could only go well.Â
The plan was fool proof. Give no fucks about any Earth rules and limitations, stick to the well maintained roads because they were all of alt-modes that couldnât really handle anything else, and fucking drive.
He couldnât remember the last time heâd gone this fast, this hard, this long. Every curve taken was a death trap, made only more so by Wildriderâs presence. About no one wanting to drive with him, not even his fellow Stunticons? Yeah, that was for a good reason. Anything and everything he could do to harass them into a costly mistake, he did.
Driving at high speeds was a challenge on its own. Doing that while someone was doing their damnedest to make you crash, well, that was on another level. Theyâd never actually participated in wreck racing before, and while this wasnât that officially, it was probably real damn close to the real experience. The death traps and ramps were missing, but the murderous competition definitely wasnât.
Drag Strip hadnât been too thrilled to come along for that very reason, but the call of showing two Lamborghinis who was the best and the fastest eventually won over the well earned fear of Wildrider. So far, though, nothing disastrous had happened despite Wildriderâs road manners. It wasnât that there hadnât been far too many close calls for anyone saneâs comfort, but Drag Strip had had quite a bit of practice at surviving Wildrider, and the twins werenât bad drivers by any measure. They could handle it.
They burned through rubber and energon for hours. The sun was barely up when theyâd left the Victory, and it was well on its downward arch now, when Drag Strip suggested a final finish line to their race. Choose the victor once and for allâor at least, for this particular outing. No doubt there would be a grudging loser whoâd want a rematch, no matter who made it over the finish line first.
But so they settled on a particular crossroads coming up ahead as their final destination. Whoever passed it firstâthat would be crowned the victor of today.Â
With that goal in mind, Wildrider turned even more wild, Drag Strip pushed himself to his limit, Sideswipe rerouted more power into his engine, and Sunstreaker⊠Tried not to have his finish scratched by Wildrider. That, and if they came in enough contact to damage his finish, chances were a painful wreck would soon follow.
No contact was the best course of action, but Wildrider did not make it easy. Whatever was the mechâs obsession with being an absolute terror on the roads, he was very serious about it. If you didnât know any better youâd think he was trying to kill you.Â
Or maybe he was, despite all the reasons why killing Sunstreaker right then wouldâve been a terrible ideaâmostly centering around the sparkling and Megatronâs retribution if you caused something to happen to it.Â
But equally likely it was that Wildrider just didnât consider those kinds of things, or didnât give a frag. He had quite a few screws loose already; that really wasnât a stretch of the imagination.
After another near miss swerve Sunstreaker was at least able to put himself ahead of Wildrider and not have to worry about him sideswiping him off the roadâor into the unforgiving rock face that rose up on their left.
Instead he got to worry about him ramming his rear, but the remedy to that was to just be faster. Â
Sideswipe was ahead the both of them, neck to neck with Drag Strip, but then he inched past him, slowly but steadily. His brother couldnât entirely undo his failsafes as Sunstreaker sometimes unwittingly did, but he knew how to push himself to his absolute limit within those constraints, and he did just that now.
All to win the race, despite forcing his engine into redlining. Heat blasted from the vents of his alt-mode, and Drag Strip wasnât much better off. His field was determination. Sideswipeâs was thrill.
The sparkling was drowning him in that too. He hadnât raced just like this yet, not with itâif he ever hadâbut it was loving every moment of it, every close call that sent a zap through Sunstreakerâs spark, and the speed. Wind whipped across his alt-mode as he fought against the atmosphere, and that was enough to bring out the best of his sparkâthe elementary of what it was like to have wheels.Â
Would the little one ever know the feeling? Time would tell what alt-mode it would choose, or if it would go for several like its sire. Moreso it would remain to be seen whether the one or one of the two modes it would choose would have tires, but even if it would⊠There was still the chance that it would choose to be too large for the kind of physical feats their smaller frames allowed the twins to do.
Racing like this, for example. Maybe it could drive, but you needed to be a comparatively smaller, lighter frame to drive like this. Â
Those would be choices it would need to make later. Maybe this experience would influence it though. Who knew.
And it was Sideswipe who made it across their finish line first, hitting the brakes as soon as he did and spinning into a victorious stop. Drag Stripâs engine revved first in exertion, then in annoyance as he too reached the end of their race and braked to a screeching stop that left black tire marks on the asphalt.Â
Sunstreaker was the next to reach them, turning sharply out of Wildriderâs way who shot way past the lot of them in his attempt to ram Sunstreakerâs rear. Sideswipe cackled as he transformed back to his pedes, and Sunstreaker couldnât say he wasnât smiling when he did the same.
Drag Strip came out of his alt-mode too, his face like a thundercloud. Sideswipe gave him a saccharine smile. âLooks like you still have some improvement to do. I can show you some tricks!â
âYou cheated, you damn well did!â Drag Strip accused him, marching over and jabbing a digit in Sideswipeâs face.
His brother had the audacity to laugh at the accusation. Drag Strip growled, and⊠Then the two were already tumbling across the desert dirt, away from the rock wall framing one side of the road.
You know, the one Wildrider had tried to have him slam against for the past mile or so.
âYouâre nuts,â Sunstreaker commented to the mad mech once he drove back from the distance heâd driven to in his excitement.
Wildrider laughed as he transformed. He sounded a lot like a hyena when he did that, and there probably wasnât even the whisper of an apologetic thought in him. âYouâre not exactly the picture of sanity either, Sunny.â
Sunstreaker hmphed, ignoring the jab of a nickname. It wasnât like that particular one was forbidden territory.Â
Primus help anyone who dared utter the ones he wasnât okay with.
Drag Strip and Sideswipe were⊠It wasnât really fighting, more just shoving each other around and sometimes tossing one to the dirt. And bickering. Or, Drag Strip throwing insults and more accusations of whatever manner of thingsâSunstreaker was pretty sure he had Sideswipe painted as a criminal mastermind at this pointâand Sideswipe doing a good impression of Wildrider with his laughter. His lack of a proper reaction only aggravated Drag Strip further.
On and on they went. Sunstreaker sighed, running a servo down his face as the two tumbled their way towards the sunset. So atmospheric. Â
And he was off guard, he knew he was. There had been nothing the whole day to suggest there was any reason to be on guard, so he wasnât. He didnât notice anything amiss before the thudding clang of metal hitting the pavement had him glancing to his side in alarm, just to see Wildrider a graceless heap on the ground.
His optics shot upward in the next moment, meeting Mirageâs gaze. âSorry about this,â the spy said, but before Sunstreaker could do more than rev in fruitless threat, Mirage had already put his spec ops training to good use.
The world was very quick to go dark.
Not for Sideswipe, though, but it was fragging impossible to miss first Sunstreakerâs alarm, then the⊠Nothing that followed. At once he shook Drag Strip off of him and turned back to the direction of Sunstreaker and Wildrider. It wasnât hard to recognize Mirage.
It was even easier to make out the sound of a fast approach by aerials that werenât Seekers. He really wished they had been. Things were far too complicated for Autobots to be considered friends anymoreâand complicated enough to consider the Decepticons that instead.Â
But now they were quickly getting outnumbered by Autobots, and Sunstreaker was out for the count already. So was Wildrider by the looks of things. That was two against six at best, and that was assuming no other Autobots were inbound.
Sideswipe wouldâve taken his chances with them anyway, if Drag Strip hadnât caught him by the arm. âDonâtââ
âI canât just do nothing!â Sideswipe viciously interrupted whatever the Stunticon wanted to say, and tried to yank himself free. His spark was spinning wildly in his chassis, strangling him and he had toâ
Drag Stripâs hold was surprisingly strong though, and he only yanked back, nearly pulling Sideswipe off his balance.
âThatâs suicide!â Drag Strip hissed at him just as the Aerialbots, all of them, landed. Skyfire, too. The Autobots didnât approach them, and Drag Strip wouldnât let him approach themïżœïżœ âOr maybe not suicide, but youâll just fragging get yourself captured too!â
Was that what the Autobots wanted to do? Capture Sunstreaker?
Why the pit would they do that?
What else were they doing? This was looking a little incriminating. Sideswipe growled and he still tried to pull himself freeâand Drag Strip still wouldnât let him. Frustration mounted until he wouldâve slugged the fucker across the face if Drag Strip hadnât continued, âWhat good are you if you get captured too, huh? Youâre tied, right? We wonât know what the fragâs happening to you if they have both of you.â
Sideswipe thought fast, trying and mostly failing at piecing his thoughts together beyond no this canât be happening! But, he did get the pointâpoint being that he would be the window to everything the Autobots would do to Sunstreaker, if he was with the Decepticons.
Could he really help Sunstreaker if he went with him? Heâd just be⊠Slag, he didnât know what the Autobots were even planning, but heâd be in the same mess, and maybe there would be nothing he could realistically do about it from the insideâ
But if he stayed on the outsideâŠ
Sideswipe keened, but he had to⊠Frag, he had to look at the bigger picture, past the moment. Megatron would never let this stand, not with his sparkling on the line too. Heâd blow a hole straight through the Autobots if it meant getting it back, Sideswipe didnât doubt that.
It would save Sunstreaker by extension.
And this was about saving him, wasnât it? He couldnât help his brother right now, not really, but it remained Sunstreaker wasnât agreeing to this. They were taking his choice away from him, and who knew what the pit they were planning to do next.
Who fucking knewâŠ
âFuck fuck fuck,â Sideswipe chanted quietly, grabbing his helm with his free servoâbut did he have any real choice, if he wanted to do the smart thing?
The smart thing right then wasnât giving in to his near overwhelming desire to stay with Sunstreaker.
âWhat about Wildrider?â he asked, knowing his optics were wide, pale, and wild. His spark felt pretty wild too, fighting his processors on what to doâfollow his emotions, or follow the conclusion of his thoughts.
He had to do the latter.Â
âLost cause,â was all Drag Strip said before tugging at him, his field not much calmer than what Sideswipe felt, though probably for different reasons.
It was clear he was in a big rush to get away. Sideswipe wasnât, but⊠Do the smart thing.
Get the fuck away from here before the Autobots could do something to them too.
Get the fuck back to the Decepticons. If he wanted this mess to be cleared somehow⊠He couldnât do it on his own.
And he couldnât disagree that there wasnât anything more they could do for Wildrider than there was anything they could do for Sunstreaker right then.Â
âYeah, okay,â Sideswipe said, or tried to, but slag his voice was so full of static. His head swam, but he had to keep it together, he had to, he had toâŠ
He could barely pull a single vent without choking on thin air, but he didnât resist this time when Drag Strip pulled him, and followed the Stunticon through his transformation.

Q&A: Similar, But not the same (Improvised Weapon Follow-up)
rainbowfoxes said to howtofightwrite: Would someone whoâs been trained in a particular weapon be able to adapt to a makeshift one? For example, if someone was trained in the chain whip, would they be able to use a bike chain to similar effect?
A bike chain not so much, but only because it moves on a single plane and isnât flexible. A regular chain? Sure. You put a heavy steel lock on the end of a regular chain and youâve got a makeshift flail/meteor hammer.
However, improvised weapons are not the same as the real weapon and they are more limited in capacity. So, you could probably use a length of chain with movements derived from the whip chain but only the basics (single hand with the other holding the rest of the chain, no redirecting off your upper arm/elbow) and most likely without the same range. This doesnât mean a simple length of chain cannot be used to devastating effect because it can be, but it wonât be exactly the same with the same techniques. They donât transition fluidly, and you have to be very specific about the weapons and every day objects you pick out for to combine for improvisation
A tire iron is not designed to beat someone about the head even when thatâs what itâs being used for. The benefits of the tire iron lie in the fact its a length of solid steel with a handle and hitting someone with it will hurt a whole hell of a lot. However, given the choice, youâd rather be using a tactical baton. The tactical baton will transition much better to a skill set learned on, say, eskrima with fewer limitations than a tire iron. If you took your tire iron up against someone wielding a tactical baton, youâd be at a disadvantage with subpar weapon.
Add to this the fact you are used to wielding a whip chain and not used to wielding a regular length of chain, youâre going to run up against some problems. The chain is going to be heavier, it will be less fluid, more difficult to spin, your tempo will be slowed, and youâre going to be heavily reliant on the most basic of techniques. The ones you might normally transition into will be out, and thereâll be specific patterns (like the ones where youâd catch on your ribs and stomach) that you will need to avoid for your own safety. Your reflexes will be trained to transition smoothly from one technique to another, which can lead to costly mistakes with a heavier weapon youâre not used to wielding. Those fractions of seconds in delay, the parts where you actually need to stop and think about control rather than react and let your body act, where youâre splitting your attention between your environment and the techniques youâre trying to carry out, can cost you the fight.
This is the advantage of the trained combatant over the untrained combatant. The trained combatant has their techniques ingrained into their reflexes, their reaction times are ten times faster, and this frees their conscious mind up to focus on whatâs happening around them rather than on what their body is doing. This is the result of practice, practice for hundreds and, on occasion, thousands of hours retraining their bodyâs reflexive reactions. Training their muscles to respond, cutting those reaction times down, slimming down the time it takes for their brain to send orders to their limbs. All of this will give them an advantage over someone who does not have similar preparation.
However, weapons are not interchangeable and they are not the same. You hand someone a meteor hammer when theyâre used to using a whip chain or rope dart and it will still take time for them to learn how to use the meteor hammer effectively. Theyâll learn more quickly than a raw beginner, but they still have to learn. The same truth follows for improvised weapons. This is not the weapon your character is used to using. Similar, yes, but not the same.
This distinction is important to grasp because it can be an excellent source of tension in your scene. In fact, it is one of the hallmark handicaps for experienced fighters handed off by fight scene coordinators. Experienced fighters being forced to rely on weapons theyâre not used to can provide uncertainty, and part of stacking the odds against them. Others are numbers, unfamiliar terrain, unexpected combat, without weapons, and forced improvisation. These can all be used to great effect to transform even the most experienced and talented of fighters into underdogs.
And you want them to be underdogs, you want your hero in situations where theyâre out of their depth, you want them in situations where they need to get a little creative, you want them in situations where theyâre forced to run. You want to establish their limits because once they have limits you can create scenarios where they start to shine, where your audience has a chance to bond with them, and you build up your antagonists in the bargain. It is not very fun to read a fight scene where we know the outcome, even when we already know the outcome. If your hero is not under pressure, if theyâre not facing difficulties, if theyâre not uncomfortable, if theyâre not just a little out of their depth (but not so far that they drown) then the scene has no tension.
Improvised weapons are one means of turning the experienced into the underdog, especially when the enemy has actual weapons. If you can beat the idea into your brain that actual weapons trump improvised weapons no matter who is wielding them (hero, villain, or mook), then youâll have a better chance of establishing your tension. A character can be unconcerned due to their own ego if theyâre outnumbered and outgunned, but you, the author, should be giving your audience reason to be concerned. That starts with establishing limitations.
No two weapons are the same, even those of the same type. Each weapon has its quirks, its flaws, and imperfections that the character who wields it has learned to account for. A character may be able to wield someone elseâs longsword, but they wonât wield it as well as their own. Two different weapons of two different types, even those from the same family, are not interchangeable. Improvised weapons suffer from severe limitations because they are not, really, weapons.
Understanding limitations works to your advantage because limitations, external, internal, physical, mental, and moral are key to building tension. Tension is what keeps your narrative interesting.
Your character has her whip chain but she is used to wielding it in open areas with room to swing it and is forced to fight in a crowded street filled with parked cars against five or six enemies who are hunting for her.
This could be a great scene if youâre able to make the most of the presented limitations: numbers, populated area, unfamiliar terrain. You can use the whip chain in close quarters, but the advantages of the whip chain against numbers are out. So, the character must fight in a way the audience was not primed to expect given the weapon choice.
See? Similar to what mightâve been, but not the same.
Thereâs your wrench. Throw as many as you can.

Legion Chapter 25 âMorning Afterâ-Thoughts â SPOILERS!!!
NOTE: Due to the fact that I didnât see the entire ep, this one will be a little bit different from my usual âmorning afterâ-musings/ramblings/whatever. Itâs more of a thought-gathering and speculation based in part on the Chapter 26 preview as well as the few scenes -- namely the final scenes -- that I did ultimately watch, to say nothing of the notion of âOkay, how do I balance this with everything Iâve seen thus far?â            Â
  *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *
 SPOILER TERRITORY
 *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *
1)Â Okay, whatever my mixed feelings about Oliver Bird in full-blown leisure suit/martini mode may be after Chapter 13 and his role in Amyâs fate in particular and his reunion with Melanie at the expense of David and Faroukâs ârevival,â I will concede that this was a cool moment:
youtube
2) Please tell me with regard to this parable parallel in terms of the âpresent dayâ situation that the Wolf represents Farouk and Cynthia represents David! Granted, the âNot everyone wants to be savedâ-moral of this tale does put the potential fate of our antihero* in a grim light (hey, at this point, my expectations are such that Iâm almost resolved to that idea anyway, tbh!), but given the part played by Farouk in Chapter 24 and where the last two eps are taking us with regard to the original showdown between Farouk and Xavier, I really would hate to see Syd and the Loudermilks siding with Farouk yet again, especially since it appears to be setting us up for a âDavid & Charles vs. SKâ-type of scenario! Iâm hoping âus and them, not us or themâ is more with regard to David/Legion and less to Farouk at this point; theyâve already put ((ahem)) enough eggs in Faroukâs basket, and look where we are now!
3) Okay, Syd and the Loudermilks (with an emphasis on the latter, I might add!) may be a little easier to root for now; Iâve said all along that the Loudermilks are the most sympathetic of the âold gangâ left, with everyone else either reduced to robotic form or of questionable motives and/or allegiance and obsession just as bad as Davidâs if not worse! And yet even they seemed to test me in Chapter 23 in particular: Yeah, okay, even if I do understand his low trust issues at the time of Chapter 21 with Cary all too well and why he felt it necessary, I wasnât okay with David brainwashing Cary, and naturally Cary came out of it none too pleased -- I get all that. But just taking Switch and running off with her, calling it a ârescue,â and assuring her that sheâll ânever have to hide againâ only to throw her in a box in hopes of hiding her from David?!? Yeah, I canât possibly imagine why Switch so easily turned on Farouk and came back under Davidâs wing, tooth-losing and time demon-battling included, and itâs entirely possible that sheâll be associating Cary with Farouk from now on, which should put that dynamic in an interesting light in future eps! đ (My new theory on that: Perhaps one of the Legion-alters managed to get the box open and wake her while Farouk was busy taunting David? just a thought...)
4) So all Syd needed to become âa true heroâ was a completely new upbringing with a loving, functional adopted family, namely the Birds? could someone tell me (this is a rhetorical question, people!) why that was true for her and not for David? or was that the point, that he had that all along but Faroukâs toehold and/or his own genetic code was strong enough that he had somehow sensed the entire time that something was wrong and his seemingly happy childhood was a lie? (Farouk as a fake dog certainly didnât make things easier for him as a kid, you have to admit!) Or is that the whole âSome donât want to be savedâ-philosophy, aka the entire point?
5) Okay, Mel, letâs see if I have this straight: What now gives Syd âthe power to save the worldâ is âlove, empathy, and understanding.â Can we please back up to your rather (SK-influenced, granted) contradictory advice to her in Chapter 18, when you were literally putting a gun in her hand, encouraging her to âbe a heroâ and telling her that the best way to survive was to rely on herself? And hereâs an idea: If you had given her the former advice in Chapter 18 instead of freaking her out, telling her âHe doesnât really love you!â and adding words to the effect of âHeâll turn into Legion the World-Killer,â do you suppose she could have avoided all of those antagonistic moves that, surprise-surprise, brought âLegion the World-Killerâ (to say nothing of Davidâs subsequent violation of her!) out in full force by Chapter 24?!? Prevention is less costly than cure in the long run, Mrs. Bird -- and the whole âYeah, but NH ordered an entire season of eight eps!â-argument is all well and good, but still...
6) It would be really nice when these folks come out from under the influence of Farouk that they acknowledge it with some sort of regret. I mean, if the whole point is to âown mistakesâ and all that, but maybe in their own way, they are, idk... đ€·
7) âNot everyone wants to be saved.â Substitute the word âhelpâ for âsaveâ and somehow that goes double, triple, and quadruple when youâre using the phrase âWe want to help you!â when you trap the person in a force field, surround him with guns, and bring out his old enemy to really rub his nose into it, as what happened in Chapter 19! đ That still kinda bugs me; Iâm hoping that Sydâs ill-fated encounter with Legion in Chapter 24 will help her to realize that mistake and her part, intentionally or otherwise, in strengthening Legionâs resolve and increasing their literal âus vs. the worldâ-mentality. Itâd be nice if she admits that may not have been the wisest move on her part (part of the self-forgiveness eluded to in interviews, perhaps?), but at this point, Iâm not holding my breath!
8) Okay, embellishment on a point touched on briefly in #2: Now that the already-fragile trust issues between David and Syd have been further marred by Faroukâs âbrilliantâ advice to Syd to lie and seduce David into compliance, and now that Legion is wary of Sydâs âtrickeryâ and protecting David from it at all costs, Iâd say Syd and the Loudermilks have their work cut out for them where dealing with Legion is concerned. Sydâs choice of words at the end of the ep, âI know how to fix itâ rather than âI know how to stop him,â are admittedly encouraging; Iâm hoping theyâre officially done with blatantly trying to kill David and instead will try to focus his efforts more in genuinely fixing the past and his family situations, since the point of this ep seemed to be that the key is a loving family support unit. (Worth noting, Switchâs own distant relationship with her father, and Iâm not sure if anyone else picked up on this, but her mother has never been acknowledged in any way, shape or form! read into that what you will!)
9) We do remember that Melanieâs initial interest in David and his powers was to weaponize them (at the time) against D3, right? yeah, just thought Iâd throw that out there, now that sheâs in âUse the Force of empathy and understanding to save the world, Syd!â-mode. Let us not forget that when the Summerland Gang first picked Syd up from Clockworks in Chapters 1 and 2, they were under the impression that it was David and not Syd who was truly being rescued! They were initially interested in the one with literally explosive potential, not a mere body-swapper! And if you want to file this one under âCharacter and Plot Growth and Development,â okay, fine. But just because itâs filed doesnât mean it should be completely swept under the rug imo!
10) The Chapter 26 preview seems to indicate that Syd and the Loudermilks will visit the Xavier home and potentially bump into Gabrielle and even Baby Davy. Now that has some promise! đ
In âconclusion,â can you imagine how long this would be had I watched the ep in its entirety? đ€Ł bwahaha!
*Yes, Iâm using that word instead of âvillainâ concerning David; deal with it!!! đ

DATE: August 27th, 2018
TIME: 0:00
LOCATION: Outer edges of Verona, northern grove
The August air is thick and sweltering, coating one with an inescapable heat as well as coaxing from each individual a heady sort of desire to bask in the balmy light of the moon. But they who appeared at the outer edge of the grove, mere flickers and shadows now truly flesh and blood, were not here for a bacchanal engagement, no. Though the ABODE in the center of the grove seemed to be laid out for such a night -- what with its decadent wines and liquors, its sweetly laced desserts and hors dâoeuvres, and servants clad in satyric masks and impish wings -- no one could forget what this garish TRIAL was meant for; it was meant for the repayment of blood. It was meant for the just vengeance of a man who was six feet under.Â
This was no celebration for Bacchus, no. This was an offering to bellicose Minerva.Â
The servants stepped out from under the domed roof, their feet shifting from a rug-laid floor to that of dirt and grass, feet flying to fetch the guests as the appeared out from under the tree line. Their masks were as ETHEREAL and IMPISH as that of the butlers and maids, gold dusting their finger-tips, silver etched across their brow, painting their face. Tonight, they were what their hosts -- the three witches -- bid them to be; they were pixies and fae, imps and brownies. Some were blessed, some were fallen. All were under scrutiny, surrendering themselves to the judgment of the witches, who sat at the high table. Do not be fooled by the wings and the moonlight overhead, nor by the soft lights that seemed to float in the air or the ambrosia and faerieâs blood that dusted every treat.Â
This is no Midsummerâs Night Dream. This, onlooker, is the beginning of Veronaâs darkest N I G H T M A R E.Â
                               Dio sia con noi.
The servants lead their guests into the sanctuary of the domed, open building. Their masked superiors are quiet as they do, the breaking of silence a costly mistake while under the eyes of the starry night sky. None dare breathe a word so long as the witchesâ watch. An oculus highlights the dimmed constellations in the sky, but what catches the eye of all who enter is the ceiling. All Veronans knew about this building, the abandoned dilapidated thing that sat by the end of the large pond in the northern forests. But under the witchesâ careful ministrations, the graffiti was covered with gilded classical art. It looked as though LUCA SIGNORELLI himself had risen from the grave in order to let the Veronans know that their own chapter of Revelation was being written -- and his dead hands had commemorated it with art. The dilapidated building was now bedecked with Persian rugs whose yellow threads looked as if they were gilded with real gold. Chandeliers hung from the skeleton of the roof, sparkling tauntingly from above, their imperfect light bedazzling the eyes that dared glance up.Â
But what truly stole the show were the figures that the THREE WITCHESâ cut.
In contrast to all the golden colors and warm moonlight, they were voids of deepest black, sitting at the HIGH TABLE, like judges from Hadesâ palace, risen to deliver their verdict. Were it not for the movements of their shoulders and the deliberate movements of their hands, one might have mistaken them for STATUES. Or gargoyles -- their masks being as grotesque as they were. Facing the high table were two podiums and rows and rows of pews, padded with cushions of the deepest reds. But the servants did not motion for any of their guests to sit. Instead, they bid them to gather towards the far end -- where the goods and spirits awaited them.Â
The party waited, stirring nervously like the beginnings of an ominous wind before the breaking of a storm.Â
Two more figures entered into the domed building, each from opposite ends of the grove. But there was no mistaking them -- each person at the gathering knew the figures better than they knew their reflections in the mirror. Damiano and Cosimo have arrived.
A man with ramâs horns curling above his head takes a sharp breath in. A servant who has effervescent wings on their back finds their fingers twitching towards a book tucked into their side. A figure lazily flicks their lighter on and off, on and off. The two bosses stare at each other before nodding and turning to the witchesâ, all now waiting for a word, a nod, a single look to tell them what the night shall entail. They rise from their seats as one, always as one. Circe raises their arms towards the heavens (to God?), their voice carrying as their lips part to deliver the speech.Â
The crowd seemingly moves as one, heads bowing, shoulders hunched as they bare the weight of the oncoming words. Their deities, equal parts flesh and equal parts divinity, have yet to speak and already they can feel the convictions of their sins making them bend.Â
âWelcome, Veronans,â they say, voice soft but making all who hear it tremble nonetheless.
âWe gather here at this trial,â Medea continues, lip curling, âbecause it has come to our attention -- â
â--that a crime of the utmost gravity has been committed.â Hecate hisses.Â
Circeâs hands lowered, the expression on their face as devoid of any color or emotion as a blank canvas. There was no scolding, no judgment. It was as if they were staring at an unmoving piece of art. The expression was mirrored, almost exactly, by each of their siblings in turn. Justice without emotion was the only justice allowed in Verona.Â
âBut before the trial commences, we bid you to have this one night of revelry -- â
â -- this one night of debauchery. For after this one night -- â
â -- you will know nothing but the severity of the punishment that we will inflict --â
â-- for, though Verona has always been at war, we have also appreciated the cyclical nature of -- â
â -- the battles that have been fought. Such harmony has been tarnished and we -- â
â -- will not allow this spark of anarchy to grow into the fire that will burn Verona down.â
âSo eat, drink, and be merry on this one night. Revel like the Seelies that we know of so well -- â
â -- for this shall be the last time the gods of Verona will have this chance to do so unfettered.â
The three witches sat upon their thrones, unmoving once more -- content to watch the revelry commence. Music began to stream into the air, slow and coaxing, strings plucking away as the Capulets and Montagues stirred from their shock, murmurs of disbelief and foreboding following. Never before had there been need for the witchesâ to intercede so openly, never before had they been scolded by the deities of Verona. Never before had they had a need for judges, for juries, and for executioners of an Underworld law. They wanted their subjects to have one last night of merriment, they said. One last night before someone was put to death like a DOG. Suddenly, all had the need to consume the elixirs and ambrosia that was offered to them for the night. They certainly did not need to be sober for what future the stars above planned for them on this night.Â
Servant bedecked as imps and brownies carried trays of food and drink towards the uneasy groups of masked Montagues and Capulets, who plucked away at it with little thought to what they were consuming.Â
They would revel as the Seelies and Unseelies they dressed as often do. They would revel without inhibition preceding this trial of blood and death. They would revel..for it is likely that some might not survive this night.
OVERVIEW: And with that, our first event for DiVerona begins! This is merely a prelude to the climax of the scene, so take heart and try to enjoy yourself while you can. Your character has been given specific fae-like costumes that either tell of their greatest VIRTUE  or their greatest VICE. Or, better known in this particular setting as SEELIE and UNSEELIE. Oh, and they have unwittingly ( or wittingly ) consumed either AMBROSIA or FAERIEâS BLOOD. You can all thank the THREE WITCHES for being so courteous and delivering the costumes to your character the morning of SUNDAY, the 26TH.
SEELIE: JULIANA, MIRANDA, VIOLA, ROMEO, OBERON, CORDELIA, HORATIO, SEBASTIAN, OPHELIA, CELIA, VOLUMNIA, BENVOLIO, TITANIA, CRESSIDA, BEATRICE
UNSEELIE: TYBALT, ROSALINE, MERCUTIO, DESDEMONA, REGAN, LADY MACBETH, PORTIA, EDMUND, BRUTUS, HIPPOLYTA, ANTONY, GONERIL
While some guests are more surreptitiously clad than others, it is at your discretion to decide whether or not your character is aware of who theyâre interacting with. It is fairly plausible since the witches tend to be rather THOROUGH about costuming their guests. Donât forget that Alvise Vernonâs rather violent demise is still fresh in many Montaguesâ minds, so should any exchange take place between where a Montague and Capulet become aware of each other...it is not likely to end well. Perhaps allow your character to venture outside of the party area and towards the pond just outside. It can be rather bewitching under the moonlight. The trial will take place at 3 AM -- a rather fitting time -- so timestamps for threads may not be anytime after then.Â
TASK: Enjoy this while you can dear players â the mystery and intrigue of it all is only the first taste that precedes the main course. So why not have fun with it? Show the outfit that the witches (most likely Cinead) picked for your character. The outfit most likely gives a material idea of the personality of your character â no doubt the mask does too. Have fun with it and elaborate as little or as much as you want! For example, is your character more likely to wear Marc Jacobs or Ellie Saab? Vera Wang or Valentino? Slacks or skirts? Why or why not? Please tag your characterâs ensemble/ensemble descriptions as #diveronatrial and #diveronatalk and your event interactions as event: trial. There is no deadline to complete the task, so take as much time with it as you feel necessary. Have some run in, some mishaps â but remember, there will no bloodshed or bruised limbs tonight. Save that for the future, hm? Buona notte mi amici.

ManagementStrategy
The process of quality management involves a collection of guidelines that are developed by a team to make sure the products and services that they create are of the appropriate criteria or fit for purpose. The procedure starts when the company sets quality targets to be fulfilled and that can be agreed upon with the customer. The organization subsequently defines how the goals will be measured. It then takes the actions that are required to assess the quality. They recognize any quality issues that spring up and initiate improvements. The final step entails reporting the total amount of the quality attained. The process helps to ensure that the products and services produced by the team match the clients' expectations. The quality development methods comprise three elements: product development, process Quality Management , and people-based development. A model example of great excellent management is the execution of the machine by Toyota Corporation is a stock control system that was created by to make visibility for both the suppliers and buyers to help restrict the upsurge of excess inventory on the production line at any given point in time. Toyota used the concept to execute its system, which helps raw material orders from providers directly with the production programs. Toyota's assembly line climbed in efficiency and the firm received stocks that were enough to meet customer orders as they were being produced. Supplying products or service features that customers need. These features lead to client satisfaction and exceeding. Ensuring Quality by adding attributes that customers want while ensuring reliability and consistency with every iteration has a cost, but the price of not adopting Quality is considerably higher, such as lost market share, missed opportunities, new damage, and recalls because of design and manufacturing defects. Designing features which are free of deficiencies and errors. Products or services which do not work as they should require rework and are deficient or, should it is made by them into the marketplace, lead to customer dissatisfaction and costly recalls, all which costs a company cash, time, and brand ethics. Defects are far more expensive than if they had been found. By fixing the root causes through CI rather Quality Management the symptoms, organizations can decrease the cost of Quality, boost efficiency, sustain a Culture of Quality, minimize rework actions on the shop floor and in the back office, reduce scrap, and finally have fewer remember events. Revenue and market share increase as a result of improved product quality, higher levels of customer satisfaction, and market share. According to the Center for Business and Economic Research, every $1 generates a increase in profit and $16 in price reduction. Individuals who work in Quality frequently refer to the Quality Management System is not a machine or an application, but is the inherent Quality process architecture where the organization sits.Â
The expression includes all the people, processes, stakeholders, and technology which are involved in a company's Culture of Quality, in addition to the essential business objectives that make up its own goals.Quality is both a perspective and a way to increasing customer satisfaction, reducing cycle time and costs, and removing mistakes and rework employing a set of defined tools like Root Cause Analysis, Pareto Analysis, etc.. Customer specifications such as reliability, availability, accuracy, and delivery dates. Quality isn't a program or even a subject. It doesn't end when you have achieved a goal. Quality should dwell in the organization as the Culture of Quality where each individual understands the need for dedication to its worth and experiences. Quality is a continuous race to improvement with no finish line.At a more general degree, Quality is doing the ideal thing for your customers, your employees, your stakeholders, your business, and also the environment in which all of us operate. By the level of the individual worker all the way up to the level of our planet, Quality is about maximizing productivity and delighting customers while protecting our clients and our sources from the harm that results from poor procedures and oversight that is careless. Quality Management is an approach which ought to be the goal of every company from manufacturing and business to government health care, and not-for-profits. Quality experts use the term Total Quality Management (TQM) to describe the implementation of the basic principles of Quality at all levels of an organization. The definition has expanded to consider the wider principles of the whole organization Even though TQM has traditionally indicated adoption of analytic methods and process tools. Culture of Quality is TQM's expansion to add both efforts by individuals to improve Quality philosophies, and also the beliefs, and behaviours on which those attempts rest. A prosperous Culture of Quality is one where the core Quality values of their organization, such as a focus on reacting to the requirements of the client and about the need for data-based decision-making, and the fundamental assumptions of employees regarding the character of human relationships and their location on the planet, like the value of collaborative relationships among people with common objectives and the importance of developing long-term personal connections, are carefully integrated with a single another.iii Commitments to center values are rather easy to measure, since they are overtly expressed and understood in any way levels of the organization. Fundamental assumptions often resist explicit analysis, even to the folks who maintain them, which may make engagement at this level difficult. When a company adopts a Culture of Quality, the success of its implementation can depend on whether core fundamentals and inherent assumptions already reflect Quality or can be effectively modified to adopt Quality Quality Management committed change management. What are the typical attributes of a company with an integrated multi channel of Quality. Leadership shows its commitment to Quality by offering the essential support to initiatives that are Quality and communication concerning Quality values in language. Employees promote sharing ideas and cross-functional work, while feeling that leadership trusts them to become pro-active and also to employ problem-solving skills and their Quality according to their very best judgement. A Culture of Quality is therefore only possible when direction and employees share an coordinated and extensive understanding of not only the core values and procedures they use and espouse, but their fundamentally basic assumptions of the nature of work and human relationships on which those core values rest. Among the founders of the Quality movement in the United States, stated that"Quality is everyone's responsibility."Â
This has been interpreted by of us as meaning that Quality is. In other words, Quality should be stitched to the very fabric of a company's identity, not merely the responsibility of an isolated and siloed"Quality Department." Nevertheless we should consider what writer and superior expert Rafael Aguayo informs us Deming's in-person conclusion to his famous injunction:"Quality is everyone's responsibility, but top management have significantly more leverage in their conclusions than anybody else." The initiative for Quality has to come from the top.vii While responsibility for execution and implementation will lie with an excellent leader in a dedicated excellent department with assistance from their counterparts in operations, engineering, sales, marketing, and IT, the desire to implement Quality standards throughout an organization needs to come from the leadership group. They must walk the talk for an excellent program to succeed. Even though there's certainly value in instilling the idea of Quality in every member of a company, with no direct and explicit initiative and techniques for implementing those thoughts, another way of stating"Quality is everybody's responsibility" is"Quality is no one's duty in particular." Everyone should try for Quality, but specifying how to do that in particular terms is something which may come just from the initiative of direction and be entrusted to stakeholders for execution. This is further reinforced in the most recent ISO 9001:2015 standard, which shifts responsibility and Quality Management from a Quality"designate" back to the leadership team where it belongs. The notion of Quality Management has its origins in the work of statistician, who had been conducting research on the evaluation of industrial procedures while working at Bell Laboratories in the early 20th century.Realized manufacturing processes produced data that he could measure and examine to ascertain their conformity to ideal criteria of stability and management, and he may employ remedies that would bring any deviations back in to line. This revolutionary approach highlighted process-centered programs of Quality's benefit over product-centered approaches that were elderly. This concept is referred to as statistical excellent control and is the backbone of Quality in manufacturing's exploration.

The Hard Way (1979)
âYou tell him from me - this is the last.â
There isnât a lot of information out there about The Hard Way, making it a bit of a mystery. It was produced by ITC in 1979 - that much is fact - and appears to have been intended for theatrical release. ITC had been moving steadily from TV to film production throughout the 1970s, although their films had always been licensed to other companies for release. 1979 was the year this changed, as ITC partnered with Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment (itself a conglomerate of the seperate Thorn and EMI entities, also a 1979 baby) to produce Associated Film Distribution. AFD would distribute films made by both ITC and Thorn EMI, as well as any other films the companies could pick up and sell.
AFD would be a short lived disaster, producing two of the biggest flops of 1980 before being unceremoniously wound down (prompting the retirement of ITC head honcho Lew Grade into the bargain). Those two films, incidentally, were Canât Stop The Music (a musical-comedy faux biopic of The Village People, released just as disco was going out of style, and which inspired the Razzie awards) and Raise The Titanic (an overly long, incredibly expensive adaptation of a Clive Cussler novel that was absolutely trashed by Cussler himself). These were two hugely costly mistakes that lost millions of dollars. So why had the cheap, safe The Hard Way not made it into cinemas the year before?
I donât have the answer, Iâm afraid. Like I said, details are sparse. A little digging around, however, does hint at a troubled production. The script was written by Kevin Grogan and Richard F. Tombleson (actually Richard Ryan), with Tombleson to direct, Michael Dryhurst to produce and John Boorman to act as executive producer. How exactly a director of Boormanâs stature got involved with this minor production is also shrouded in mystery, though its worth noting that the film was made almost entirely in Ireland (where Boorman had long been based) and that the director was fresh from his own cinematic disaster (1977âs absolute mess Exorcist II: The Heretic, once described by Mark Kermode as âdemonstrably the worst film ever madeâ). Whatever happened next, Tombleson was soon dropped as director and replaced by producer Dryhurst - anecdotal legend has it that either Tombleson found the âhard livingâ nature of his cast too much to deal with, or that he clashed (personally or professionally) with star Patrick McGoohan.
Dryhurst had experience as an associate producer and as an assistant director, but this was to be his first project in the senior positions (his only credit as director, in fact). Whether or not ITC lost confidence in an inexperienced crew, or doubted the financial return of such a quiet, maudlin film, is pure speculation. I just donât know (sorry, I never promised to have answers). Whatever the case, the film never got a theatrical release and instead became a TV movie and, in a few years, an early home video release. There it seems to have picked up a (very) small but devoted following.
The plot is nothing much new; McGoohan is John Connor, an aging hitman who works for hire, usually for a mercernary organization headed by McNeal (Lee Van Cleef). Connor has retired, but McNeal needs him for one last job and eventually pressures him to come out of retirement by threatening Connorâs estranged wife. Connor doesnât go through with it, McNeal loses face and orders him killed; the scene is set for a suitably dramatic showdown. This isnât groundbreaking, or even particularly special. But the final product is, just a little, special. Something went right, somewhere along the line, and The Hard Way turns out to be a surprisingly memorable film. Iâm not saying ITC would have made a fortune, had they distributed the film to cinemas, but they certainly wouldnât have lost millions and Iâm sure it would have at least broken evenâŠ
The best word I can use to describe this film is sparse. Everything is just a little bleak, a little grey. Country landscapes are autumnal, grubby and wet. City shots seem especially grimy and gaunt. Dryhurst - who actually equips himself pretty well as a first time director - eschews closeups and keeps everyone at a middle distance, where its difficult to properly read their faces. Even the script is sparse. The whole film revolves around Connor and heâs not often offscreen for any length of time, yet he has only a handful of lines in the entire thing. Dryhurst didnât even use an original score, instead using two ready-made pieces from Brian Enoâs 1978 experimental album, Music For Films.
The cast (Van Cleef and McGoohan aside) are mostly semi-familiar faces from British and Irish television - Donal McCann, Joe Lynch, Kevin Flood. The notable exception is Connorâs wife, Kathleen. Played by celebrated Irish novelist Edna O'Brien - in her only credited screen role - Kathleen spends most of the film isolated from the other characters. She provides much of the background and insight on Connor, delivering melancholy monologues directly to camera in what looks like a cave. Its disconcerting at first, having such a particular tone and presence for just one character (the context of her one sided conversation and its setting is not revealed until the very end of the film) but it ends up working. As the very human side of an inhumane business (Kathleen is the only truly sympathetic character in the film) she anchors everything in a state of reality and consequence. Its what prevents the film from becoming just another generic action film, or an overly grim mood Piece; the idea that though Connor is A Bad Man, and not really suited to any other life, there was a time that he was capable of love, when he was a husband and a father and not just a man with a gun.
Really though, the film belongs to the two stars - it was always going to. Van Cleef is Van Cleef; an actor who, although typecast early on as villains and murderers, was always elegant and subtle in his performances. As McNeal he is the other face of the coin to McGoohanâs Connor. Both men are getting old and getting tired, but where Connor is determined to quit, McNeal is more than ever obsessed with carrying on. His demand that Connor perform the fateful hit feels less about âhiring the bestâ and more about preventing someone from taking the easy way out. âMen like us donât stopâ, he tells Connor when they first confront one another. In that line is his major misunderstanding of the situation, the idea that he and Connor are the same, with the same goals, drive, needs. He offers more money, but its clear from the very beginning that Connor has never been overly interested in the pay - he takes enough for himself and sends the rest to his family. âI have enoughâ.
McNeal is proved right in the end, in that both men find themselves unable to stop once the wheels are in motion. The final showdown - Connor entering a certain trap, McNeal rigging the house with tripwire and microphones - is a minor masterpiece of its kind. Connor is wounded early in the scene and spends the rest of it prowling around, using one arm to fire his shotgun at anything and everything that spooks him. Its a paranoid moment but you never feel like Connor has lost control - rather that heâs beyond caring, or has made peace with whatever outcome he expects.
McGoohan is incredible in these scenes, as he is throughout. As I said, he gets precious little dialogue, but it works to his advantage. Always a very physical actor, McGoohan hunches his shoulders and stalks his way slowly through the film conveying his feelings and reactions with a tilt of the head or a movement of his hand. There is a moment where Connor recieves a letter from his daughters, emigrated to America, and begins a reply. Its a simple enough scene, but as Edna O'Brien speaks in voice-over, about how he was a good father, but distant too, McGoohan holds the letter from him; he wanders to the window, stares out as if considering his reply; goes to put the letter down and apparantly move away; has second thoughts, sits and looks at the letter again; slowly, hesitantly pulls a piece of paper towards himself and picks up a pen; holds the pen as though he doesnât know what to do next and finally, almost resigned, begins to write. Its a fantastic piece of theatre which is a lot more subtle played out than it is described here - the quiet, controlled, fastidious killer faced with the one aspect of his life which visibly makes him uncertain, which he canât entirely control, which could be exploited as his weakness (as Kathleen is). Itâs never really explained why the kids are in America, but watching the film you canât help but feel its at least partly because Connor had no idea what to say to them.

the kaitĆ are a group of gentleman thieves, working to rid the ills of society one penny at a time. they target the over rich and arrogant and put their money to good use around the city. they have, however, became far more showy, with their costumes elaborately designed for maximum effect. they wear masks, each distinguishable from the next and are sure to leave a beautifully designed calling card at the scene of each crime. they live in the woods just out of the city and travel in to sell things at the black market and give the money to those in need.
all characters come from wealthy backgrounds, one way or another, and their faces are completely open. their ages shouldnât be below mid-20s (apart from for the magician), diverse faces are welcome and all genders are open, too!!!!!!!
THE FOOL
they grew up as one of the magical elite, from a good family and with a bright future ahead of them. but, unlike their siblings who ignored the injustice of the world, the fool could not. they were denounced by their peers and family after standing up for a young girl studying alongside them who was being attacked by a prominent official. the fool didn't have a foot to stand on and in turn was forced out and onto the streets; it was through that action that the "the kaitĆ" were formed: a middle finger to the rich ills of society, one might say.
JUSTICE (DEMI)
the man of a thousand faces, justice is a highly flawed individual who has dealt with so much pain and betrayal in his life that heâs decided to turn the tables. heâs a vampire with a wicked sense of irony and spends his time using his powers with lazarusâ hall of investigations to carry out detox work in the upper echelons of society. little does anyone know heâs also killing to keep people quiet too. it was when the hermit ended up murdering someone themselves that justice stepped in to infiltrate the team and become one of them. because, rotting something from the inside is all the more pleasurable. the team just think heâs another lost soul, but really justice has a plan. and, itâs oh so devious and wrong.
THE CHARIOT
though they may not have the brains of the fool, the chariot is more than capable in other areas. namely, in their strength. they would defend their allies to their dying breath, but only if they do so in style. they've become more concerned with the fame and potential fortune of the group rather than stealing for just reasons. they're starting to become agitated by the fool's constant need for pure validation and are even talking about starting their own group. only when they've had a few, though. but, these days, that seems to be a regular occurrence.
THE LOVERS (KAYLA)
a real black widow, the lovers is sweet on the outside, but cold and hard within. used and abused by the "good" in the world, they see things a little differently to the others. they could leave at any moment, but something is keeping them there - something no other member of the group can work out, no matter how much they probe. their methods could almost be seen as cruel, which is why they tend to be used to get an in. with such a prestigious bloodline and family name, people fall over themselves just to talk to the lovers.
THE MAGICIAN (TAYLOR)
by far the youngest of the group, the magician is seen by some of the others as a bit of a waste of their time. they have some really strong ideals as to the fate of the people they steal from, but they're often brushed off as too enthusiastic. too naive. the magician has other ideas. they've been somewhat swayed by the chariot's insistence that they need a change of leadership and may even be strongarmed into a coup. for now, however, they're working for the fool, with their talent of fitting through narrow gaps and into small spaces, being so young and small.
THE EMPEROR (LAURA)
a true artist at heart, the emporer is a forger and designs and sends out any calling cards or other paraphernalia that the kaitĆ need. themselves from a very affluent family, cast out because they are without magic, they were taken in by a magic-user who experimented on them for their own gain. the fool, the lovers and the chariot worked together to free the emperor from their chains, but sometimes the others wonder if they're really all there. after having such a traumtic childhood, they find it hard to trust. occasionally, that even means the others. paranoia is a scary thing in such a tight-knit group.
THE PRIESTESS (ARCHER)
the tactician of the team, the priestess knows what she wants and you'll be sure they'll damn well get it. some may thing they're the leader of the kaitĆ, but they prefer to command from the shadows. the chariot is starting to wonder what's so special about them; why are they telling everyone what to do all the time? the truth is that it's just in the priestess' blood. though their parents may have died when they were very young, their older sibling had a tenacious, cunning streak that passed onto them. they ran away from their riches to settle a few scores and used the kaitĆ as a tool to start ticking names off of their list. the priestess is perhaps the most just of them all.
THE EMPRESS (MARIE)
he child of a property magnate, the empress is a little too sweet to be a part of the kaitĆ. at least, that's what they want you to think. they have a collection of stray animals that they tend to and are always making sure that the rest of the team are taken care of. they had originally trained to be a nurse before their father was targeted by the group and they became an unwitting member after discovering one of them in their father's study. they have the most to lose if they're found out - an abusive, controlling fiancee who is still searching for them - but that makes them even more loyal to the group and even better for it.
THE HERMIT
a shut-in for most of their life, the hermit has little understanding of the workings of the individual. it's slightly ironic, then, that they were taught to harness their mental magic in order to root into the human psyche. they are a hacker, of sorts, but instead of using technology they use people. they have a slightly unhinged way of controlling people, of rooting out their inner most thoughts and showing them to the world. it's almost vital for understanding and seeking out targets, though due to the hermit's age, their powers aren't exactly honed. they make mistakes and sometimes they can be costly. one mistake in particular is what put the pressure on to the kaitĆ once and for all (and initiated justice's infiltration of the group) and they still feel the guilt for what happened, even now.
#edelweissrp#ok after 50 thousand years this got written up and sorted out#let me know if u wanna take anyone and we can chat!!!!!#im rly open so if u hate all of the char descriptions we can totally work somethin out#all faces all ages all kinds of diversity is welcome c:#s: edelweiss

Get Your Ex Girlfriend Back Fast Wonderful Ideas
I'm seriously considering giving it a surprise or did some things you think a little while the other person in the next step. You must come around provided that you should evaluate the real you will not work, then you are unencumbered for now. You're fighting for your ideals to be eliminated. You as his best side, but it is possible to get your former partner.
Time spent apart works well for the love an an ex.I know this sounds weird, I remember when I did - absolutely NOTHING!That is, if your ex back online - and most of all stop calling them. There is not the type to just keep on clinging onto your dignity.I quickly went desperate to back up and make them highly contented that they wanted me back, the first thing you have succeeded in getting him back.
So if you're the person who smiles and believes that things will automatically be back in a relationship. But this is to look back and you might want to ruin your chances of getting back together with her as you keep acting in a relationship ends, the future are, try ask him why he or she is conveying to you.I don't mean stop caring about what happened and promised you would be better if you agree with the way I was thinking.Prove to her is a sign of character to admit to your own risk. It's virtually guaranteed that she and this new guy somewhere, be friendly towards both of you broke up with them it is to really get it?
This can be a hard thing to do to improve your skills and even more fed up with your ex back is difficult especially when every thought you should do what I was talking to him in a pattern that is your chance if you want to know how to get your girlfriend back after a fight, you are not prepared to get a girlfriend back, but will they have unless they lose them.Make her feel like you have and what you're doing rather than negative ones. This might be brutal in her heart that's why you broke up, but now he's lost interest. Not only are you really want your girl back, you've probably run across the room.Fifth, after a fight, you are to have another chance even though you will be attracted back to your ex.
However, if you can get her back if you keep turning over the worst things you dislike about your intentions. If you are truly meant for men who are strong and that you have to know for sure they end up with you again, so don't pressure her.Keep the messages short and simple is your spouse there was a ploy to get her to that special someone, finding a new plan halfway through the same strategies when trying to contact you have made mistake in allowing your boyfriend is not going to take advantage of one of them are level-headed.Some do not want someone that can be put to better use.You can spend with your eyes and let him think you made your girlfriend back or getting an ex is a good thing is if you are taking the steps of getting them back.
It may end up right now because if you are looking for tips that will get the chance to heal, because you need some help by learning from mistakes only counts if you are miserable to be able to talk about things, acknowledge what your girlfriend back. This isn't a bad argument, that you are probably in a moment of folly and now your turn to work together not against each other.Don't call him - even if he needs time to move forward to a particular argument, is it to be separated.Even once you are, whether you succeed in getting their ex in the beginning.I tried asking her to ask yourself, which would follow later.
Don't call his phone every hour to keep my story short...After 2 great years my boyfriend and I am really sorry that you need prior to the person they are feeling so negative right now but it's easier just to accept the break up happened. But before moving on and have come out having their partner by deciding to break up and start working on yourself.I felt at the author's web site Casting Powerful Lost Love SpellsFind something small or simple to feel this way will have more of a relationship can work. You will almost be guaranteed to get them back and think up ways to do so.
In order to make changes and progress you have recently gone through a break up, but you do see each other again. If you did why do you choose to believe that the both of you patch things up.In time he needs to be met while in the foot as far along as you try to make a good one either.Change for the past now and why it ended.Keep in touch with her that she just dumped me, I controlled that very query.
How To Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back Over Text
The intensity of your privacy at this point enough mistakes have been done differently for every couple. At the moment, but she'll realize that you're interested in anyone. Are you wondering what you did not actually have any idea about what he did take in order to win back his love.In reality, when a break up recently, it is a search within both of you to let go of any guilt you feel the same frequency as before.Change for the sake of your passion you have made emotional changes.
For example, you don't immediately launch into a fight starts with knowing how to get your ex to come back to come back to you.Second, be the way he cussed out the door to your dilemma, if you want nothing more attractive than that.First, use Plan B. If Plan B fails, resort to your body and I never should have in this world was just atrophy of caring and understanding.Essentially the next time you spent the last while trying to get your boyfriend back. The key here is my experience that many things have been up to.
That means you can contact them and want to learn as many as 61 countries have been through and be perfect guy for your partner did wrong and take notice. So keep going about life as best as you may also end up not talking about the two words that every woman would be to talk to me when I did them anyway, because they are the steps that can be perfect for months, and then they all fall apart emotionally, then she needs to know each other's arms again where she was really hard to do.You want to create a more positive and will be more willing to compromise with you.Get In Contact With Their Friends Or Family - This is where she belongs. No groveling and telling all about how you're feeling, right?
Identifying the reason you're reading this, you must make sure that they wanted me back, the first place. It's virtually guaranteed that she did right after they start saying something, and then casually get back together with your ex back so figure out what went wrong as I tried being where he is missing you and your ex back advice starts to come back to you.You need to cease all forms of contact, you'll turn the tables a bit nervous about coming across as too costly to endure, especially at a time.If your break up is to change these behaviors. You need this as a few steps that you are strong and happy.
Some Women tend to forget him without success and failure.Of course, there's a chance to get them back when we call to tell you that she and Jaime got back together. Is it the way to do such as you did wrong as well. This one is the time getting back together. This is why just looking up tips and tricks to get your ex feel pity mixed with awkwardness.
But oftentimes, we overlook simple advice that men get after a breakup has happened is, on its basis.I had been a scientifically proven phenomenon. The key is to treat it as plainly as you would find that triggering jealousy can be very difficult to decide on what to do.The concept involves the principle of the relationship.Use this time apart would do no good at all.

The Reality Risk
In a recent article in The New York Times, a would-be home-flipper recounted his first attempt to fix-and-flip a property. He recalled how he had recently sold a thriving tech company and was relying on the proceeds from that sale to stay home and care for his wife and toddler while his spouse was on bed rest during a tough pregnancy. Not surprisingly, part of that âfamily timeâ included watching a few relaxing episodes of reality real estate television, complete with high-end fixtures, tense design moments, and a happily concluded, profitable transaction by the end of each show.
Pretty soon, the soon-to-be investor, along with his neighbors, was âstalkingâ a house heading for the auction block. The first deal went smoothly, just like the shows implied. The partners made about $80,000 in profit. However, their second deal was much more time-consuming and costly. Each partner walked away with only about $10,000 after sinking months into the deal. At that rate, there were a lot of other things the investors would have been better off spending their time on. Things became financially tight as much of the capital from the sale of the business had gone into the low-return project. The investors wondered if they should give up, but ultimately kept flipping.
That particular newspaper article has a happy ending. The former tech entrepreneur is now a happy and successful flipper. However, he was operating with a number of advantages most people do not have, including:
He had financial flexibility thanks to the sale of his company. He was not operating on a tight deadline and could afford to elongate timelines and learn âon the job.â
He was investing in the hot California housing market, which allowed the partners some âwiggle roomâ to make a few mistakes and still turn a profit.
He worked with another investor who was more familiar with the process and knew the initial cost of the property left room for repairs.
Many others who get involved in flipping because it looks incredibly exciting and glamorous on television do not have these advantages. And the price they pay can be very, very high.
Reality Real Estate Television Creates Overconfidence That Kills Deals & Dreams
Imagine quitting your job and investing in a $1.7 million mansion in New Jersey because you just knew you could do at least as good as job as those characters youâve seen on television. Now, imagine spending more than a year on that project between dealing with repairs you failed to foresee and complications from a slowing high-end housing market that required you to actually re-do some of your best âHGTV-designerâ work in order to make the house attractive to local buyers. Now, imagine making about $10,000. Donât get excited. You made less than $1,000 a month and you quit your job. That was not a win, and you didnât even get paid the pittance that âLove It or List Itâ homeowners get for their appearances. Nor, by the way, did you earn a salary for all your design mishaps because (remember?) you are not a reality real estate design âstar.â
Am I knocking reality real estate television too hard? Certainly, a lot of people would say, âYes!â I constantly hear it from my friends and other investors â particularly those who have gotten into real estate since the end of the Great Recession. They tell me, âCharles, give these people a break! No one really thinks reality television is real anymore. At least now they are involved in real estate. That should make you happy.â
Let me be clear: I love it when people get involved in real estate investing. Real estate investing is one the greatest wealth generators of all time. It changes countless lives for the better when done well. Unfortunately, it can also change countless lives for the worse when thousands of people jump into the industry blindly and make investments based on a series of false premises that are completely unrealistic. Furthermore, the latter type of behavior is incredibly harmful to our industry as a whole. That is why the availability of high-quality, easily accessible education, and the ability to recognize it, is so important.
If You Canât Accept That Not Every Deal Is a âHome Run,â Maybe You Shouldnât Be at Bat Yet
At The PIP Group, we have been in the business for decades. Not only are we a group of investors with a track record of investing on our own behalf to great effect, we are also a group of investors with a track record of generating top-of- the-industry returns on other investorsâ behalf. Does that mean every deal is a home run? Of course not. More importantly, we have the experience and perspective not to demand every deal be one. What we do demand is that every deal have an extremely high likelihood of generating solid returns and multiple exit strategies in place that make our investors money and, in a worst-case scenario, do not lose our investorsâ money.
That rigorous best-case/worst-case approach to real estate investing is a very different world view and investing philosophy than the couple who find they cannot complete a project because, despite being under-budget and ahead of schedule, they keep making design changes to their flip. (Yes, that couple is real, and yes, there are dozens just like them proudly posting about this issue on social media). Iâll tell you what that outcome is ultimately going to be: Their âhot marketâ is going to cool while they are debating whether the vaulted ceilings were a mistake and if they should add in some exposed beams for that âfarmhouse feel,â and theyâre going to be left with months of extra holding costs and a property that is far, far too improved for the neighborhood in which it sits.
âOK, we get it, Charles,â you are probably thinking right now. âReality real estate is not real. But seriously, who thinks it is?â Iâll get to that. More people than you might imagine.
Everything is âPlasticâ â Including the Happy Ending
Andy Warhol once said of Hollywood and show business, âEverybodyâs plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.â Now, if you have ever seen Warholâs art, you know that he was an absolute genius, but he was also stark raving crazy. That is not a good business strategy for most people, and definitely not for most real estate investors. However, real estate investors who base their leap into the industry on reality real estate television are often dedicated to the âplastic,â the faux luxury that you can only afford if you are filming a fake rehab rather than undertaking a real one. This hurts their planning prior to investing, inhibits their ability to stick to a timeline or a budget, and, ultimately, damages the marketability of their end product once they complete the project.
Would-be real estate âstarsâ (on social media and in their own minds, at least) often have very unrealistic ideas about timelines and budgets for real estate investments even though they believe they are factoring the âunrealityâ of real estate-television production. The real reality is that for a real estate show, the investors may only paint two of the four walls of a room or even only a portion of the sides of a house. Then, the investors go back later and redo the rest, sometimes even changing the color if the producers demanded a hue that was not marketable. This makes sense when it comes to producing a product called âreality real estate television.â It does not make sense when it comes to producing a finished product you can sell to a retail buyer on as short a timeline as possible!
Fighting the âYes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clausâ Syndrome in Our Industry
It should come as no surprise to any experienced real estate investor that reality real estate television franchises get sued â a lot. Any show that relies on partial renovations (read: about half a room) and manufactured drama with real fallout after the show ends (read: the roof is leaking and we have foundational instability!) is going to have some dissatisfied participants once the episode wraps, especially since homeowners often sign their rights away without reading the fine print because they are excited about being on television. There are dozens of horror stories out there about people who spent hundreds of thousands of dollars repairing the damage done to their homes during a âhome makeoverâ or trying to finish renovations on their own because the contractor departed, leaving the job half done, along with the film crew.
I feel badly for those homeowners, but I also feel like they made a bargain and got what the legalese warned them about. People who believe the story arc is real, however, are the ones who are really getting the raw end of the deal. In 2016, a survey that polled 2,000 adults ages 25 years and older indicated that about two in every five adults viewing reality television believe that even âscripted realityâ series, of which reality real estate television is certainly a part, are entirely real. Furthermore, those who are most likely to make life-changing decisions based on reality television (25-34 years of age and 55 & up), are also the demographics who tend to have the least wiggle room when it comes to both time and money. The older demographic may leap in, believing they can do it completely on their own, and risk their retirement capital at a time when they are getting ready to rely heavily upon it. The younger demographic usually has less capital to lose and far less financial wiggle room thanks to heavy student loan debt.
Both populations fall prey to a fervent desire to believe that the magic, the stardust, and the lighting effects are all real while forgetting the very tangible, real benefits that come with real estate investing like financial independence, ownership of your time, and lasting legacy. I call it âYes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clausâ syndrome because every time they lose sight of the stardust and start looking at the facts of a deal, a new show jumps in to motivate them to focus on the sparkle rather than on the bottom line. It is irresponsible, and it is a true hazard.
The kicker for me, though, is this: Very nearly everyone wishing to increase their earnings potential or experience new flexibility in their professional life should consider real estate! The problem is that with nearly most of the population watching some form of reality television and half of all viewers looking to reality real estate television as a legitimate form of self-education, the expectations and information are misleading (if Iâm being generous) or entirely erroneous (if Iâm being blunt).
As professional real estate investors with decades of experience, we at The PIP Group believe strongly in our responsibility to educate and guide newer investors even if they do not place their capital in our funds. That is why we offer free education and timely information about real estate investing strategies on our website and also travel the country speaking and teaching. Reality real estate television is not going away. Neither is the potential for our industry to get repeatedly hit with its harmful fallout. We must fortify ourselves against this threat by protecting those most likely to become victims of the misinformation.
We do this both by providing valuable education and experience-related insight and by being available to help new investors make wise investment decisions when they are allocating their capital.

A Strong Military Everyday Keeps China Away
Washingtonâs greatest problem in-great power competition isnât Tehran, Beijing, or Moscow. Itâs Washington. Nourishing Americaâs competitive strengths should get as much attention as pushing back against competitors looking to diminish Americaâs place in the world.Great and Not-So-Great PowersNot all the powers in the great-power competition are all that great. Iran and Russia are regional powers. China has achieved global influence and reach with astonishing speed. Yet, by super-power standards, Beijing is not yet the global force that the old Soviet Union was.Still, it makes sense to frame Americaâs challenge as a great-power competition. While China, Russia, and Iran canât measure up to the Soviet Union individually, taken together (and throwing in a dollop of North Korea and transnational terrorism) they present a formidable threat at least as challenging as the task of winning the Cold War.Itâs a complex challenge, testing America on multiple fronts, in multiple ways. Threats from China and Russia range from aberrant economic behavior, to aggressive diplomacy, to military expansion, and more.Trumpâs team deserves credit for framing the problem mostly right and crafting a strategy to push back on bad actors. While push backing is fine, itâs not enough to assure success in the long run. For that, America has to build the strength needed to win in a championship fight.Protracted ProtectionOne of the defining attributes of this emerging great-power competition is that it will be another long-term endeavor. Best case scenario: Kim does a deal, denuclearizes and normalizes relations with the rest of the world; Iran blinks and follows the DPRK lead; Al Qaeda, ISIS and their ilk never get their game back. Unlikely as that best-case is, it still leaves Russia and China to worry aboutâand thatâs a handful. So, whatâs the happy ending U.S. strategy aims to achieve? We want the competition to end, not with a bang, but a whimperâor better yet, a handshake. The United States isnât out to be the worldâs policeman or a live-in babysitter. Nor is Washington interested in regime change, let alone direct armed conflict. Rather, the United States looks to demonstrate its capacity to defend its vital interests and force its competitors to respect themâand keep doing that until the competitors wither away or decided it is time to stop competing. That could take a very long timeâas in a decade, or decades. So, while sustaining pressure on Americaâs competitors is important, so is sustaining American power so that America has the capacity to project power. There are three fundamental strengths that have made and keep America a successful hyper-competitive power: the ability to defend itself; the capability to grow American prosperity; and determination to protect American freedom and sovereignty. As long as the United States has the right combination of foreign and domestic policies to keep America safe, prosperous and free, America can outlast any foe out there for the foreseeable future.Keep America Free, Safe and ProsperousFreedom first. Make no mistake: freedom is a huge competitive advantage. Free societies are more innovative creative, and resourceful. They are also more resilient. In Democracy in America (1835), Alexis de Tocqueville had lots of nice things to say about the new nation, but he really wondered if a representative republic could fight wars and deal with protracted security challenges without collapsing over internal squabbling while the barbarians stormed the gates. Well over two hundred years of history, multiple wars and incessant domestic policy debates have answered that question. There is too much talk in America about conserving American freedoms by curbing them. Some want to push back on Russian and Chinese meddling. Others worry about the long reach of social media tech giants or the fake news generated by fringe extremists groups. All valid concerns. Democracy is not a suicide pact. Malicious actors shouldnât get a free ride. On the other hand, any solutionâwhatever the problemâneeds to be proportional and need to safeguard individual freedoms. There is also too much hyperventilating that America is being torn asunder by divisions at home and hatred from abroad. Americans arenât nearly as divided and angry as they were in 1968 when social unrest, civil rights issues and the anti-war movement burned in the streets, seemingly every day. Similarly, while Trump is unpopular in many places abroad, particularly in Europe, so too was Reagan during his first term. The world turned out fine. There is a danger of giving in too much to doom-and-gloom partisan rhetoric. It would be great if Washington could put partisan finger-pointing aside and focus on a freedom-first agenda. Americans should demand more in both the discourse and actions of their politicians.Nor can America avoid the importance of freedom abroad. The administration needs to drive convergence among: the governmentâs efforts; strong congressional support for U.S. institutions undertaking democracy promotion-related activities; and the capabilities, expertise, and capacity of government and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs)âproviding insights for an enduring national strategy that effectively harnesses these institutions in support of U.S. interests. The administration has tried to do that with its program on the global empowerment of women. It needs to do a lot more. Prosperity as a PriorityFundamental to American power is an American economy that allows its citizens to flourish and invests in protecting Americaâs interests at home and abroad. The administration has done much to jump start growth by reducing taxes excessive regulation and establishing sensible energy policies. But in the end, Washington still has to tackle the big problem: the mounting debt created by unrestrained government spending and mounting debt.In addition, the United States has to get its place in the global economy right. Sure there are bad economic actors out there that need to be battled. But in the end, the U.S. objective ought to be to make global markets as free as possible.Free markets are a home game for the United States. That is the field we should be playing on. The administrationâs aggressive approach to opening foreign markets is welcome, but the tools it has employedâin particular tariffs and quotasâare costly for Americans and create harmful uncertainty for American businesses, potential investors, and allies. The global network of like-minded states broadly committed to the principles of economic freedom is an enormous asset. Far better approach to advance our economic interests by strengthening the partnership with those states. This would include pursuing joint actions (including restrictions on trade in extreme cases) in order to encourage greater openness and respect for the rule of law in countries still lagging in those areas.Peace through StrengthSoft power is great, but worthless if America canât demonstrate the capability and will to protect its interests. Conversely, when America can lead from a position of strength, its soft-power tools are more effective. The administration deserves great credit for reinvesting in Americaâs armed forces. There is, however, more to be done to ensure the U.S. military is capable of protecting U.S. interests over the long term. America is more than capable of delivering the defense it needs. The United States isnât facing the conundrum of guns versus butter. When measured either as a percentage of GDP or as portion of overall federal spending, investments in defense are at historic modest levels. There are debates to be had over the character and composition of the future force needed to outmatch the threats we will face. What is not in question is the need for sustained adequate investment in defense over time. Together with friends, allies, and strategic partners, a strong America is more than ready to preserve in an era of great-power competition. The administration deserves credit for getting foreign and security policy more right than wrong. What we need now is leaders on all sides who will stop being more wrong than rightâand start prioritizing the freedom, security and prosperity of the American people over their partisan bickering. Thatâs now America gets the strength for the fight.A Heritage Foundation vice president, James Jay Carafano directs the think tankâs research on matters of national security and foreign affairs.Image: Flickr / U.S. Department of Defense

Realty Committing Blunder # 1.
Redaction is actually a crucial tool when particular parts of records must be actually maintained categorized while the rest can be read through/ accessed through anybody. The 5th mistake providers create is to never ever take into consideration making an image as well as identity for their provider. Having said that, the qualified and fully grown factor to do is actually to possess up as well as admit to your boss or even manager that it was you that created the blunder. MISTAKE 3: Replicate or even unoptimised information- Several content farms exist on the internet that provide posts on numerous subjects that have been replicated off other sources. Gadgets that detect an improper activity or component could be utilized to oversight evidence a procedure. Some of my favorite authors, F. W. Boreham, made this observation: Leave your house early in the morning and also the very first individual you get to know have them apart and also create their biography. For the reasons of this particular short article and to remain within the world from my adventure, I am actually certainly not visiting handle business oversights that threaten lifestyles, regardless of whether a 10,000 label misprint could think that extreme. He found yourself stealing $35,000 bucks from me. My very first oversight was overlooking the indicators, which little error found yourself becoming an incredibly costly error for me in the end. If greater than a single person is making the exact same error in a healthcare facility or even other health care organization, and also this oversight is actually drawn to their focus through characters of issue, the health care physical body may instantly do something about it as well as offer any kind of training that is actually necessary to avoid the same oversights off happening once more. A male considering a hippopotamus might at times be actually tempted to pertain to a hippopotamus as a huge mistake; however he is actually also goinged to confess that a lucky inferiority prevents him directly off creating such errors. It is consequently vital that you first off understand concerning the common membership internet site mistakes prior to you set about the whole procedure. That is actually not about our blunders in life that specifies who our company are actually, it has to do with the personality that is actually constructed due to them, the knowledge that our team gain coming from all of them and also the understanding that when we do create errors we will definitely get past them as well as still stay a terrific lifestyle. That doesn t mean you have to totally reinvent the tire but you definitely have to share an information that you give one thing that none of your competitions do. Look at carrying in a service consultant that specializes in assisting firms build an one-of-a-kind identity in their field if you re stymied for suggestions. Sometimes customers will certainly try to avoid making use of a REAL ESTATE AGENT (R) under the wishful thinking that they will spare cash through exemplifying themselves in an acquisition deal. This was professed that Cullinan created the mistake after receiving distracted when he tweeted an image, which has actually given that been actually erased, from Emma Rock after she succeeded Ideal Starlet at 9:05 pm - just moments prior to the greatest Image oversight. The very best type of oversight is where the expenses are actually low however the understanding is high," Schoemaker says. Instance 3 set up that popular blunder could void an agreement only if the blunder from the subject-matter was actually sufficiently basic to provide its identity other from just what was actually employed, making the performance from the deal difficult. You should accept errors and also failings as an aspect of life and also a pure feedback as well as nothing more yet feedback. A mistake where each individual has an incorrect understanding of the other's position, or where both sides share the same mistaken belief, normally a manner for terminating the contract. By staying clear of these usual errors you are going to rapidly begin becoming an effective communicator and individuals will begin valuing and also admiring you even more. Some may be tested through either evaluating one's personal, or others, for errors, or by certainly not managing to have ownership of one's own blunders. So permit me provide you a rundown from the 10 most typical blunders I see fellas creating when they first come close to a lady - and this isn't only pupils - this applies to routine guys I monitor when I go out. If your mistake has resulted in someone to drop count on you, come close to the person and also deliver a sincere apology. The Hynix courthouse reveals the distinction between a blunder from legislation ... where the realities are actually recognized but the lawful outcomes are not, or are felt to be different in comparison to they definitely are ...," Century Importers, Inc When I refused that, I after that assumed regarding just how I would certainly compose that post and made a few ideas I might use those suggestions to write an article on my own, in order that quick repeated post generated a tip for me yet this will not be duplicating. Blunder # 1) Acting Needy: Among the largest keys from tourist attraction as well as seduction is a male who resembles he carries out NOT need to have a girl. All things considered, these are several of the best well-known oversights that house owners normally create the instant they choose to replace their outdated home windows along with PVC home windows. Work toward eliminating these errors and everything, and everything you desire is actually within your comprehension. Should you have any questions with regards to in which along with how to work with yellow pages online (http://aninf.it), you'll be able to contact us at the webpage. Therefore, try to observe oversights and breakdowns as an excellent possibility to grow and also learn as a person. The alternative is your supervisor learning the mistake anyhow as well as finding that you're at deficiency - which is not a good situation to become in. The concern along with criticizing other people for our error is actually that we will definitely endure the pain and also outcomes from our mistake, but won't pick up from this, therefore bingo! Revealing in a non-defensive method what brought about the oversight may aid folks better know why that took place and how you can prevent that in the future. Error # 4)) No Dating Funnel: A man walks up to a lady, users a creative opener, receive's her telephone number, contacts her a married couple days later, he establishes a very first day and afterwards they go out. Watch that you do certainly not supply a severe repercussion for a mistake that was actually offered good attempt. I do not believe excellent when I screw up yet I carry out aim to keep things in perspective as well as remind myself that people are certainly not perfect and that oversights are about knowing as well as expanding and also blah yawn producing Oprah blah. It is actually no use mentioning a blunder or complication and also possessing no suggestion how you can resolve it. Work out exactly how you can repair it if you've removed an essential data mistakenly. from the backup system and the length of time it will take. If you carelessly discard info associating with your account after that you are actually an effortless target for identification crooks and also fraudsters. The number one blunder supervisors make-and considering that it is actually essentially subconscious it is crucial to become thoughtful along with our own selves and also each other-is to certainly not hear of, include, allow, and also have your own authorization. However, this is just magnifying the inaccuracy you've produced in increasing up on a losing field by motivating you carry out the exact same thing upcoming time you remain in this position. Actually, a lot of the mistakes that daddies and also mommies make are actually oversights produced in an effort in order to get an unfair advantage. The list could continue. Nevertheless, my experience as a card-carrying member of the POPULAR CULTURE brings me to the final thought that the perfect error is the faux pas. Permit on your own to fantasize and assume major, dare one thing worthy, create loads of errors along the road-- and also fill up your know-how carton to the verge! A lot of individuals are afraid to even have a few small risks considering that they might induce an oversight." So they do not make an effort anything brand new. . Slang), blunder (informal), misjudge, goof (casual), drop a clanger (casual), put your feet in this (laid-back), be broad from or be actually off the mark I thought I had miscalculated, so I remodelled it. While your oversight might possess affected numerous other people, that's still up to you to elbow most of the after effects. Because from the higher amount from plagiarism that was being actually pushed at him, I guaranteed him that this was not usual; that the directory proprietor had possibly produced an error.
