2. Do you read/reread your own fics?

i read everything all the way through at least once before posting for the sake of editing & continuity, and i tend to flip into a state of constant excitable rereading when comments start to come in a;lfdk but after about three days post-posting, my own fics start to warp in my eyes to become like Not Good, so i put them down after that! sometimes i'll reread bits and pieces way later, but i never fully reread after the initial rush.

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

hmm not in any sort of dramatic way, but i will say that the response to sweet hope was (and still is) absolutely mindblowing to me! i've been lurking in fandom for idk 15 years? and i wrote a fic or two here and there over the years, but mostly i'd never contributed to fandoms in such a way that got any kind of attention. but people in the tge community like devoured sweet hope, and the comments were (and are) so fucking encouraging and made me So emotional. honestly the wildest part was when i joined the tge discord server and while i was pawing through the channels the first time, i saw someone in there had recced my fic like a solid week before i joined, and i honestly had to go for a walk!! bc i've always, always just wanted to touch people with the things i make, and here i'd done it, and with a fic that holds so much of me in it, and is so achingly earnest, and it was just ;aldfkw idk!!! nothing will compare to that experience!!!!!!

All throughout childhood, while my peers were socializing and making friends, I studied the blade read so many books that I am now almost legally blind, which left me with vast and deeply instinctual understanding of English grammar - and next to no ability to explain how it actually works. Friends will often ask me to proofread their writing and then get very mad when I say things like, "You need to completely reverse this sentence and cut this clause entirely; no, I'm sorry, i don't know why, I just know that the way it is now ITCHES 😭"

Now, what I want to see is a fantasy story where this plays out with MAGICAL grammar. Someone from a backwater town deeply steeped in folk magic arrives at Wizard Uni where all their fellow students are like "What do you mean, we should add another '𝞯∘⋇𝞿' to the incancation because it 'sounds better'? What do you mean, 'it could just be a regional thing'?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, 'THIS SPELL JUST FEELS LIKE IT NEEDS A LIVE RAT'????"

hey btw if you're in the USA at  2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4, they're testing the emergency broadcast system. your phone is probably going to make a really loud noise, even if it's on silent. there's a backup date on the 11th if they need to postpone it.

if you're not in a safe situation and have an extra phone, you should turn that phone completely off beforehand.

additionally, if you're like me, and are easily startled; i recommend treating it like a party. have a countdown or something. be surrounded by your loved ones. take the actions you personally need to take to make yourself safe.

i have already seen mockery towards any person who feels nervous about this. for the record, it completely, completely valid to have "emergency broadcast sounds" be an anxiety trigger. do not let other people make fun of you for that. emergency sounds are legitimately engineered to make us take action; those of us with high levels of anxiety and/or neurodivergence are already pre-disposed to have a Bad Time. sometimes it is best to acknowledge that the situation will be triggering for some, and to prepare for that; rather than just saying "well that's stupid, it's just a test."

"loud scary sound time" isn't like, my favorite thing, but we can at least try to prevent some additional anxiety by preparing for it. maybe get yourself a cake? noise cancelling headphones? the new hozier album? whatever helps. love u, hope you're okay. we are gonna ride it out together.

Towns says he would rather be submerged in a vat of acid then be stuck in a room with him for 24 hours.

just read the plot summary for Wrath of the Triple Goddess and. wow this is. painful this just sounds painful to read.

Why is Grover the incompetent inciting incident character? That is not his narrative role ever, really. That's like, the fanon conceptualization of his character where he's reduced down to comedic relief and nothing more. He's mostly exposition and support. Why not have the inciting incident be something about Annabeth's hubris - something that has gotten the gang into situations tons of times before in a way that doesn't put down any of the characters? Heck you could have even tied it into some Sea of Monsters stuff, like Circe having told Annabeth that she'd make a good sorceress. That'd be perfect for how this book literally just exists to be advertising for s2 of PJOTV. Or maybe call-back to Percy's introduction, where he talks about how he doesn't try to cause problems but problems tend to find him. Or use the established personalities of Hecate's animal companions from HoO, since we know they have attitudes. Just what are you even doing here????
