First, you can’t just mention that Harry/Tonks fic and not drop it. Now I wanna read it too. Second, it’s very interesting to consider how prone R is to just running and being conflict avoidant when we also know he’s literally fighting in a war and he fought in the war last time too.

hehehehe it’s right here! i just reread it again and there’s a nice little acknowledgment in there about how harry never took to remus as quick as sirius bc he never reached out. it’s perfect.

and yes! i find it super interesting too, and not all that contradictory either tbh. like, there’s two sides to him, yeah? one in the interpersonal sense and one in a more macro, ideological level. it’s entirely possible that he’s a different person for both sides bc often, confronting ur own self is harder than fighting for an abstract cause like justice etc. it’s easier to be brave when it’s not you in the picture, yanno?

and then there’s what i sometimes like to believe, which is that remus didn’t fight the way sirius & james did (for morals/ethics/right thing to do) but rather that 1. everyone around him was fighting, 2. he was indebted to dumbledore, and especially in the second war, 3. his sense of self worth was almost completely depleted and everyone he loved was dead and he didn’t quite care whether he lived or not, no matter the consequences of it for his family.
