Stealing this post to talk about the mental disability representation, tying into a post I made here about physical disability representation

What does disability representation have to do with this post...? That's what trauma is or at least can be and should be considered as such in the severe cases OP is talking about, where traumatic backstories feel strange and flat when they don't reflect on the character in a meaningful way.

It's the same thing as having a character with a prosthetic limb who doesn't show any real sign of living with one. The character isn't disabled unless they are disabled. And if you don't want them to be disabled... why give them a disability? Whether that disability is a false limb or severe trauma that has shaped how their brain functions? It HAS to change how they live...

...good disability representation is in how the character is affected by their disability, not by just existing. And that's what I would want to share with any non-disabled person who feels excitement seeing a disabled character: think about how it affects their life. Think about the choices they make because of it.

Please, give your characters trauma, or any disabilities. We love it. But remember to actually make them disabled. If their parents were killed and their life placed in the care of an abusive authority - that will change the sort of human they can be. Even if they have recovered and adjusted well - it still has an effect. Remember - PTSD can change the physical build of your brain, seen on scans.

They'll react differently to things others don't. They'll make choices others don't. They'll draw conclusions others won't think of.

The funny thing is, because we don't consider trauma and other mental/behavioral things 'disabilities' as often, especially in fiction... ...there are HEAPS of quite good, nuanced and deep representation within existing characters... put there unintentionally. We just think of it as "Has a sad backstory" Instead of "suffered severe trauma and has been disabled by it".

And much like when people point out how, eg: a character may show a LOT of Autistic traits, even if it was accidental by the author simply trying to make them 'a little weird' (etc.)

By starting to actually think about people and characters in ways that aren't "Normal or weird", "Emotionally normal or emotionally unstable", "Happy backstory or sad backstory"... we get better stories AND better recognition and understanding for real people. :^)

This is not something I usually talk about, but I feel like in the character writing landscape some people mistake traumatic experiences and elements in a character’s backstory for actual character depth. What I mean is, if you only tell me that a character’s parents died and they suffered at the hands of an abusive authority and their ex stabbed them in the stomach, well, that’s cool, but how does all that reflect on their character? How did all of those experiences and the rest of their numerous life experiences shape them, make them who they are? What sorts of relationships do they have, what do they fear, aspire to be like, love and hate (other than exes stabbing them in the stomach)?? Those are questions that are not answered with what happened in the past. Similarly you could make a character that literally had nothing bad happen to them ever in their whole life and I think you could “still” make them very interesting and extremely fleshed out and feel as real as you want to. There are several ways to make people care about characters!

If you've ever shared "cute" pictures or videos from owl cafes, read this sobering reality check.

92 cafes across Japan hold over 1900 owls captive, simply for entertainment. This includes two species considered Near Threatened (Barred Eagle-owl Bubo sumatranus and Chaco Owl Strix chacoensis) and one Vulnerable species (Snowy Owl Bubo scandiacus). Moreover, there is a lack of transparency as to the origins of many of these owls, which may not all have been captive-bred. Species may have been mislabeled during import, and not all have paperwork showing they were legally imported, meaning there is a very good chance owl cafes feed into the illicit, non-sustainable wildlife trade.

What the article doesn't cover is how stressful these settings are for owls. They're bright, noisy, and confined, and the owls are exploited by the owners who allow untrained strangers to hold and pet them without consideration of the owl's well-being. The "break areas" where the owls can get away from direct contact are still within sight of patrons, meaning they are still subject to human contact.

Owls are not chickens. They are not domesticated birds that have spent thousands of years and thousands of generations in human company, being selectively bred for human-friendly, docile traits. Even a tame owl is still a wild animal with intact instincts that tell it it should be living a largely solitary life in a wide, open field or forest, not stuck in a small space with many other owls of assorted species and a bunch of people.

This also isn't a situation like falconry, where captive birds are given plenty of private space, and flown daily for physical and mental fitness. And a single cage may have dozens of owls, more than what limited staff can handle. Even if some of the birds are supposedly "rescues" (as at least one cafe's website claims), any reputable wildlife rescue is going to limit the contact between the animals and humans, and absolutely is not going to allow visitors to regularly take pictures with and handle the wildlife--even socialized, trained ambassador animals have very stringent limitations on direct contact.

So it's not at all unsurprising that an already highly unethical industry is likely contributing to the problem of questionable or illegal wildlife trade. This study is just one more piece of evidence suggesting that these cafes are anything but harmless, cute fun.

Mithrun and non-visible disability

Yk, I've never seen people talk about this, but Mithrun is a very accurate depiction of having a non visible illness

I'd like to interpret mithrun's bastard origin to be an allegory for an invisible disability (I'd argue its neurodivergance, but it could be anything); An aspect of yourself that you are born with (in this case; born from) that is seen as inferior but it is not obvious.

He's even lucky—since that part of him is that of benefit. His infidelity gave him silver eyes and sharp ears after all (if you can catch the metaphor). from the outside, He's just a normal person, a person worth respecting because he's fits the standard.

However, he knows he does not fit the standard. it's just a lie. He hates himself—so, so much bc of that. It causes him to over-compensate through complete perfectionism and a high sense of self pride. He has to keep a big image in order to protect himself. it's the only thing that can get him loved.

However, that superficial ego gives him terrible imposter syndrome. He knows he doesn't deserve it, but he wants to. like everyone, he craves love and safety. So, he looks down at everyone, hyperfocused at their flaws (he can't be inferior if everyone is worse, right?) whatever it takes to prove himself that he deserves love.

He knows he's weak, but he has to show to everyone that he's strong because any slight sight of weakness would be detrimental since he knows that his humanity is conditional.

He knows that if he shows the truth and how he doesn't actually fit the status quo, he will be ostracized and rejected.

He knows—because his brother is proof of that.

Obrin's disability is obviously visible; Shown through his physical characteristics (his frailness and the lack of family traits). However, his discrimination may be due to this visible disability. he isn't nessesarily ostracized for those traits. His features aren't the (main) reason why he's perceived as inferior in the social hierarchy. it's instead because he's rumored to be a bastard child. This is why he hates his brother so much.

Obrins physical characteristics are just "symptoms" that perpetuate their prejudice towards infidelity (if were going by the disability allegory, think; this person is too sensitive, it must be bc of the autism...). By doing so, his brother indirectly taught him to hide that part of himself.

He hates Obrin because he is the physical manifestation of what will happen to him if his infidelity (disability) is revealed. He is the same plane as his brother after all, The only difference is that he's fortunate enough to be able to hide it.

It's very interesting how his hatred to Obrin isn't because he's genuinely bigoted and ignorant towards him, but because of his own personal internalized ablelism just projected. (It's ironic how contrary it is; he hates his brother because he sees him as equal) very much paralleling visible and nonvisible disability in intimate familial relationships.

The fact mithrun is the bastard child, not him. Imagine the burdening guilt and shame that comes with the knowledge that he could (or should) be one in his place.

He's constantly paranoid of thoughts that he's not good enough. That's why he was so upset when he was sent to the canaries or when he saw Obrin and Sultha together.

Because those are signs that Obrin is better than him and he could not forgive that (how can someone like him, completely ostracized from society, and be so content...?). And that sign proves his paranoia of not being good enough are correct.

mithrun's insecurities, fears, and behavior very much parallel that of being a high masking disabled person.

Hes is a flawed disabled character, but one you can also sympathize with.

He isn't a perfect victim. He delves on how a disabiled person who's so intrenched in a heavily ableist and bigoted society can be a victim to its bigotry and be taken advantage of (The demon. I didn't touch on that topic, as much as i would love an essay about how the demon preyed on mithruns vulnerability regarding his own disability but unfortunately, that might be too triggering for me lawl!) while also actively participating in it and perpetuate said beliefs

Hi there! As a pretty casual Avengers fan, I haven’t read too many runs that portray the relationship between Wanda and Vision. Why do fans like this ship? And why do some Wanda fans seem to dislike Vision? Are there any runs or comics that show the good or bad of this pairing?

Hello! I'm going to answer this question because I love these characters and I love to waffle about them, but also just going to remind people that I also have a personal account over at @brw where I talk more about stuff like this! This account is almost a portfolio of my graphic design, as well as an archive for comic art and editing resources and other graphic designers, with a few odd extra things I think are cool that I want on this blog. I try to refrain from posting too much commentary or the like here, just because I want to keep it very focused on my creations and the creations of other folks. With that out of the way, I'll dive into this!

Why do fans like this ship?

Well, I can only speak to my experience as a 616 ScarletVision fan, and from engaging with different fans through the years, but these are only my personal takes and some observations. Everyone you ask could give you a different answer, and none of them would be wrong.

For me, the personal pull is, first and foremost–I really like both of these characters. They both have a very distinctive design, they both have very strong core aesthetics, they both have dramatic, strong personalities and they both have a very distinguished speech pattern, so their relationship would always be interesting to me, because it combines so many different things that I love. Without being a fan of Vision and Wanda separately as characters, I wouldn't like this relationship as much as I do.

Anyway, beyond just generally liking their respective vibes, I've always appreciated just how dramatic and intense these two are. Vision and Wanda definitely feel like their respective first, proper adult relationship, at least in my opinion. This might be divisive, as Wanda and Warren Worthington III did date in First Class, but that relationship to me read more teenage and youthful, while Vision and Wanda are very much so swept in the emotional and physical intensity that they develop for each other very rapidly in their Avengers appearances together. That dramatic, strong personality they both possess makes their relationsip very dramatic and over the top, which I find a delight to read.

Giant Size Avengers #4 (1974)

Even when they get married, this drama doesn't really go away, and the bio of this blog comes from one of my favourite issues depicting these two and their dramatic sensibilities.

Marvel Super-Heroes V2 #10 (1992)

This panel brings us into our second reason, which is that there's something really interesting about the way these characters are both social outcasts for a variety of reasons; Wanda is Rromani, a mutant and a witch, and Vision is a synthezoid, completely non-human and unable to fit into human norms and customs. A big theme of these two and their relationship is having a similar lived experience because of the ways they are social outcasts, and of their love becoming stronger than the adversity that they face because of it.

Avengers V1 #113 (1973)

To me, its a very engaging story, and it's well compounded by again, how dramatic and high-energy these two are, the ways they show and perform their love for one another. They're also often very bitter and angry at the world for the way it mistreats them, which is an interesting character trait for both of them as other characters (like Pietro) are often written as antagonists for those opinions. And this of course makes it more special when they are so tender and loving around each other, the ways they can find solace and peace in one another.

They also just generally brought out the best in one another during their marriage, in my opinion. Vision's stoic, dependable personality and their support for Wanda while she was exploring her magic with Agatha Harkness was incredibly important as she developed and grew from a mutant with magical themeing, to a powerful witch in her own right. It is Vision who taught Wanda the principal of "Order and Chaos belong together", which is a really important line of thought for her. And Vision of course becomes increasingly more in tune with their own emotions, more emotionally mature and more developed as a person as their relationship with Wanda develops. They go from a traumatised, bitter person angry at the world, with essentially no emotional regulation skills because they're like three days old, to being a loving, deeply compassionate and considerate spouse and parent, who has built their own family in spite of the isolation they grew up with.

There's probably other reasons I'm missing, but these are the big ones in my opinion, why I keep coming back to these two despite not being together for 30, 40 odd years.

Why do some Wanda fans not like Vision?

There are a few different reasons for these, so I'll do my best to be brief. Some reasons are more than valid and are worthy critiques and understandable reactions and feelings to have, and others, quite frankly, are complete horseshit made up by people who feel like their dislike of Lines On Paper has to be justified, or righteous, and can't allow it to just be. I'm focusing this list on specific reasons they dislike Vision, not people just preferring other relationships like WandaJericho or ScarletPhoenix or what have you.

Just not the type of character they like. Which is understandable. Not every character works for every person, and sometimes disliking a character isn't that deep! People are allowed to not like lines on a sheet of paper, after all.

Character and ship was ruined for them by the MCU, and MCU fans. Also understandable, although I wish that didn't mean that all the actually interesting parts of the 616 Vision/Wanda dynamic was ignored, but what can you do.

Has a difficult and varied history of being coded as a minority by various (very white, very American) writers during the 70s and early 80s, which have not aged well. A big inspiration for Vision was Spock from Star Trek, who is obviously a biracial character and faces a lot of discrimination for this, and this was part of the character makeup of Vision and it was often a source of allegory, as well as a source of drama in Wanda and Vision's relationship. Not an often well done aspect of their character, and not very tasteful. This writing turned off some people, which is understandable (although if you're asking me, which you are, it's not any more egregious than X-Men coding but that's neither here or there)

Vision's character development and prioritisation in the 70s came at the expense of Pietro. This one is true; Steve Englehart, for whatever reason, decided that as Vision and Wanda's relationship became more fully fledged and he was going to continue with Vision's minority coding, that Pietro was going to be an antagonistic and often allegorically racist person to give that dynamic more drama. This was fixed when Moondragon decided to lobotomise him because I guess actually writing character development was too much work, but it still means a solid chunk of Pietro's 70s appearance are marked by this. It's a shame, because I think there's a way to write this antagonism in a way that makes sense and is narratively fulfilling, but that's not the conversation at the moment. I do appreciate this as a reason of why some people have never quite worked with Vision (although given that this hasn't been true in the past 20, 30 odd years of publication history I find it strange as a reason to dislike modern Vision but I'm biased in this conversation)

Writers reduced Wanda to her relationship with Vision. This is, frankly, bullshit, and I really don't know where it came from. There's a slight argument for pre-Byrne Wanda and especially early 70s Wanda, but I can still name a few different issues during the period of their marriage where Wanda had her own adventure outside of Vision, and the thing is folks; Vision wasn't getting many solo appearances or stories during their marriage, either. Post Byrne, it really doesn't make sense. Wanda was reduced to her grief and her mental illness, yes, which were caused by the traumatic dissolution of her marriage to Vision, but that isn't the same as her being reduced to her marriage. Later on, what Wanda is reduced to is House of M and the Decimation; this has nothing to do with Vision. Sure, if you're reading Roy Thomas/Steve Englehart early 70s Avengers, maybe, but these are only two writers in a sea of people who have handled these characters, so this argument doesn't hold water for me.

Vision is abusive. Anyone who says this shouldn't be reading comics, they should be watching Blue's Clues. Vision can be mean, or blunt, or emotionally distant, or bitter–but that does not mean Vision is abusive, that means that comics exaggerate personality traits for the sake of drama. It's a soap opera! And to be honest, any argument you can apply to them can apply to virtually any comic relationship from the era. That's just the writing style, it doesn't mean that Vision is an abusive figure.

Vision made a robot version of Wanda, which was creepy and weird. True, but using a Tom King comic to talk about Vision is like using a Bendis comic to talk about Wanda. Neither of these writers had good intentions with these characters, or particularly cared about or respected them as characters and what they're meant to represent. Vision (2015) was a bad, deeply racist and xenophobic comic written by a CIA agent who admitted freely to torturing people as if it was a fun little tidbit. Unless you're using it to criticise Tom King's racism, I have zero interest in acknowledging this comic in the history of these two.

Vision's character comes at the expense of Jim Hammond and Simon Williams. I... don't see this one? Both the revelations that Vision had a relation to Jim and Simon came after their initial debut, and Vision is a distinct person and design from both these characters. Writers can use Jim and Simon whenever, and they often do. There is just that historical/familial connection, to try and build up connections in the Marvel Universe, but it isn't as if the character of Vision RUINED Jim and Simon, or whatever. In fact, Simon would have never been remembered and brought back from the dead to be honest without Vision keeping his character alive in the memory of people. The same is arguably true for Jim, who wasn't really used in post Timely marvel comics at all until the Vision connection was established. And if any character ruined Jim Hammond's prospects in comics, it would be Johnny Storm, the character who is considered the definitive Human Torch, not Vision, who only dedicated comic fans probably know of the Jim Hammond connection.

Vision cheated on Wanda with Mantis. A) no they didn't, B) Steve Engelhart just has a weird cheating thing, so I really don't consider this a big deal. Don't believe me? In the Fantastic Four: Big Town series he did, there's a moment where it is heavily implied that Hank Pym and Charles Xavier are having some kind of affair to contrast with the affair Janet and Tony Stark are having. It's just a quirk of his. Also, you can't blame Englehart for making everyone fall in love with Mantis, that's his girl.

Vision has no emotions and can't emotionally fulfil or love Wanda. Anyone who says this has probably not passed basic English class, because my G-d, how do you miss the point of a character that badly. Avengers #57 didn't die for this.

And finally, I think a lot of people only care about Wanda in relation to the Magetfam dynamic and aren't particularly interested in her realtionships on the Avengers at all, despite the fact that that is who she is far more than being an X-Man. They don't really like that she's on the "cop team", so any relation to it is dismissed or ignored in favour of her having more relationships with mutant characters. Every time Vision appears in a Wanda comic, despite the fact that they are the parent of her children, someone she spent years of her life with, her first proper love and someone she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, it has to be "forced", regardless of how ridiculous an idea that is. It's dumb, and stupid, and I don't think these people really care about Wanda as a character, but that's probably just me being a nasty little hater.

Runs and comics I recommend for this couple

Good or bad can be subjective; I've seen people read completely differently into a scene I thought was sweet, or creepy, or whatever, so I'll just send a list of what I consider good issues to get a handle on these two. Bolded are important, italics are just bonus issues that might be of interest.

🐴Once Upon A Time In Chestnut Ridge: A Bachelor Challenge

Meet Dakota Blue Heron, Chestnut Ridge's most eligible bachelor!

Dakota is 29, stands 6'3 tall, living on Crow's Head ranch, primarily a horse ranch that is open for guests in the spring and summer months. The ranch is owned and operated by the Heron family, being passed down through generations for over a century. He speaks navajo, navajo sign language, english and spanish, and is a tribal member of the navajo nation. Dakota wants kids and is looking for a partner with similar desires to start a family.

As stated previously, Dakota likesmasculine-leaning sims. No strict gender preference, but I am looking for masculine contestants. Be it women who are more butch, masc leaning non binary, cis or trans men on the masculine side of the spectrum. Dakota's type tends to be people with muscles, masculine-leaning, who look like they could pick him up and throw him around. Dad types are a plus too. He prefers people who aren't very skinny, who have some meat on their bones. Strong types, protective vibes, and obviously people who can and are willing to work on a farm and live and deal with animals every day, it's not easy work!

Does Ragnar/werewolves mate for life since his route gets locked out if we cheat. Does Ragnar have wolfish traits in his human form? And is he pettable? In his route would he prefer MC being a werewolf than a human since you mentioned MC being able to be transformed in a ask. Also same for Sei/nagas do they mate for life or is it just a ownership standpoint.

So, the only one I have marked as mates for life is actually Eli (elf). Ragnar has a bit of an asterisk.

The only way to be full mates with Ragnar is to choose to turn, but he doesn't mind either way (it will still be for life with human MC, just no actual bond and it's more just for everyone's future HCs). The lock is there because, well, he's got his clear preferences and boundaries.

Ragnar's mate bond is a direct and a non-skippable consequence of being turned.

Eli's is not a physical decision, but an emotional one.

IF MC will choose to bond in game the option to betray them at the end and take the money all for yourself becomes unavailable. You can otherwise choose to wait to decide after the game.

And just to be clear, mating doesn't mean sex 🤣 Ragnar has to bite MC and for Eli both parties have to actually love each other.

Not sure about wolfish traits, he looks fully human, albeit on the tall and muscular side. I do have this picture in my head that his tail pops out on occasion and wags energetically when he's excited 🤣 and claws and fangs out when he's getting angry.

And yes, he does enjoy any kind of head massage, behind the ear scratches and generally... scratch him everywhere. He'll love it.

For Sei, it's more of an ownership thing, but with love 🤣He's jealous and possessive, but only as long as MC gives him signs that they are into him or lowkey like it.

As in, if MC ever wants to leave him, they are free to go if their mind is set and he can't do anything to change it. But if MC wants to cheat or have fun with others he'll fuck that thought right out of them (I also kinda picture it as a bratty MC doing it just for the "punishment"). I'll have to check my notes, but I think I have naga lifespan marked as same with humans, so the relationship will be for life if MC chooses it beyond the show.

Non-RWBY/ MLP models I wanna do and how I'd explain them in Remnant.

01. Felix Argyle (Ferris)

Would Probably use a similar story to how he met his princess but set and altered to fit Remnant.

Felix was simply born with two physical Faunus traits. While I say simply this would be more on pair with a condition/ mutation like Polymelia a genetic anomaly that results in people having extra limbs.

The difference being that in Felix's case he's simply born with a extra trait. However the effects it has on him are more detrimental For instance racist see him as even more of a animal then most faunus.

While some faunus see him with contempt for seemingly being to them what Faunus are yo racist. His parents ashamed and afraid of redicue lock him up I their house

Things would play out similar to how they did in their book but instead of Crusch Jaune and the Arcs noticing the families odd behavior find and rescue the boy.

2. Toga (My Hero Academia)

Her circumstances can be similar to her series. Given that Neo can form illusions and Xanthe can quite literally transmutation seemingly anything to gold I don't see why Toga can't take on the apperance/ voice and even eventually semblance of those whose blood she ingest.

Though I would alter the reasoning to that of that she needs the others aura to mimic them. Blood is just the easiest way to injest it as while the blood cells are still there is no reason they shouldn't theoretically still retain their aura.

03. Najimi Osana (Komi Can't Communicate)

This one's fairly easy too, Najimi simply grew up with Jaune (Or one of his sisters) as a classmate. He befriended everyone like in his own manga/ anime.

04. Rebecca (Cyberpunk 2077)

Rebecca's is a bit harder but off the top of my head, I can see her and the gang she rolled with in Mantle. Not as techy as they had been in Cyberpunk though, or maybe they were. Not really too important for the relevance her, point is Rebecca nearly dies. And only survives because Pietro can't help but try and save her on principle.

Using his technology... And even his semblance he does manage to save the girl, though the result leaves her more mechanical then human. Rebecca as we know is loyal, arguably to a fault.

So once she hears the old man quite literally tore his soul apart to save her she grows attached to him and his... daughter Penny who insist on calling her sister.

05. Midna (Legend of Zelda, Twilights Princess)

Honestly, I got nothing for this one, doesn't mean I wanna make it any less. Maybe Jaune falls into the Twilight Realm instead of the Everafter... Or Midna is sent to Remnant instead of Zelda's world. Or Jaune and the Arc's as a whole could be Link's Ancestors who could be guarding the Mirror of Twilight to this day.

Him and Jaune come from the same village were his parents are farmers. Hideri unlike Jaune adored getting dressed up and praised and dreamed of the big city and becoming a cute idol.

Jaune supported his dream, encouraging his friend who in turn encouraged him to be a Huntsman as well. He left for Vale with Jaune who fought off several Grimm on their way there. He aimed to start his career as a idol while Jaune tried for Beacon...

Several months later he's crossdressing at a cafe and Jaune steps in to see how his friends doing.

08. Fujiwara Sisters, Maki & Nagatoro's Crew

These are actually super easy, their civilians, lets say Mistral, since both shows are based in japan and Mistral seems to be the asia of Remnant.

I can see two simple ways of doing it, Senpai and Shirogine can be related to, or friends of Jaune's parents. Hence why when visiting Mistral Jaune decides to see how his old friend/ Cousin are.

Also maybe I should give a brief summary of three others I've already maid.

Louise de La Vallière (Familiar of Zero)

this one as a commission already has a setting... Basically the Valliere family fought with the Arcs in the Great War where her grandfather fought besides Jaeger Arc.

The two grew close as brothers and agreed to marry their children, unfortunately Julius fell in love with Juniper and caused friction by cancelling his engagement to the two elder daughters.

Thankfully Jaeger did have a younger son, Jaune, who would become Beacon's Prof. Arc.

This is a reference to Louise fiancée Jean-Jacques Wardes

who looks about the same ages a my Prof. Arc model, the irony being that Jaune supported, trained and helped his fiancée however he could unlike his traitorous counterpart.

He never intended to actually make the young girl follow through with their wedding either. Perfectly willing to break his word and dishonor himself so she could be free to love whoever she chooses.

Because of Jaune's influence and the fact that she's not considered a failure magician in Remnant and in turn ostracized Louise isn't as violent as she is initially.

And while Jaune doesn't notices it, Louise doesn't see their engagement in a negative light.

Manami Aiba/ La Brava (My Hero Academia)

Born with dwarfism Manami always felt different, self conscious and misunderstood. She yearned for connection and affection from a young age and could always feel others look at her differently...

She was quite sharp and capable, but there was another facet to her... She Loved HARD. When she got a crush it wasn't a simple crush, but instead utter affection.

Her pure little heart was so filled with affection on her first ever that the immense emotion awoke her aura and semblance... Love. The ability to multiple the targeted individual dependent on her feeling towards them.

Given her semblance she saw it as proof that she needed to pursue him, cherish and learn about him. Unfortunately it resulted in her freaking said boy out, viewing her as a stalking, and rumor spread over the tiny lil' weirdo stalker.

She ended up leaving school, shutting herself off from others, and surviving in private using her impressive computer skills to make money. Whether that be a regular computer job, hacking systems for less savory people or selling information she managed to dig up to Hei Xiong.

But nothing healed her heart, made her reach out, there was no Gentle Criminal who filled her world with light in Remnant... No instead one day, where she'd been forced to leave her home on a rare occasion she was stopped by several thugs... And then saved, by a random, kind... Cute, tall... Knight.

Ilulu (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid)

I'm thinking of doing something similar to the series but instead of Toru being injured and found by Kobayashi it's Ilulu who is found and healed by Jaune.

Random Pride, Envy, Wrath Headcanons

just gonna do the main girls for this one, a few quick thoughts I've had on their personality as I've been working

Lute:

All Exorcists are given a purpose when they are created, which is usually just ‘to be an Exorcist’ but Lute and Vaggie were given unique purposes which is why they tend to be more impressive specimen. Lute's purpose was to be ‘The Perfect Soldier', a concept which defined much of her personality and skills.

Lute is by far the most physically capable of all known Exorcists with physical strength and durability to rival a lesser Overlord, though she is considered rather slow in terms of dexterity and flight speed

As part of being the perfect soldier, Lute is very quick to pick up new forms of combat and can become a master of any weapon or fighting style with minimal training time

In contrast, Lute is incredibly slow to pick up non-combat skills but her stubborn nature means she will dedicate years or even decades to master specific skills. Most of the skills she has cultivated were to suit Adam's interests as such she is a good singer, can play several varieties of string instruments and is unbeatable at the Royal Game of Ur (though she mostly lets Adam win)

Cooking is Lute's ultimate bane, in 256 years of life she has only mastered a single recipe 

Lute is not afraid of fire but grows increasingly uncomfortable around open flames for reasons she doesn't understand 

A good soldier should be especially perceptive in order to recognize threats, Lute has hawk like vision and is very good at picking up even the smallest details in the rush of combat. 

Despite her repeated insistence that she is not French, Lute does enjoy French cuisine. Her favorite type of cheese is Brie and though she's not particularly big on sweets she will fight someone over a Creme Brulee.

Her favorite kind of meat is venison, just not in the gross roadkill way Alastor eats it.

Charlie:

It's been touched on in the fic but Charlie actually has a pretty volatile temper that she struggles to control, which is why it's pretty common to see her true form poking through whenever she's upset.

Because of this temper, it's not unheard of for Charlie to get into fights if she gets really, really angry but she prefers to remain a pacifist as much as she can due to the fact that Charlie is deathly afraid of actually hurting or possibly killing someone if she loses control of her powers.

Charlie's primary form is what she believes to be the perfect blend of ‘almost human but not quite’ she wants Sinners to be comfortable around her and believes showing too much of her demonic traits would put them off. She is capable of looking fully human, but thinks it would remind Sinners too much of their past mortal lives.

Charlie adores human fantasy books and collects them. She finds the weird and unique ways that humans interpret magic and myth to be utterly fascinating and especially loves anything with a hopeful and uplifting tone, contrary wise she thinks Grimdark books are boring and dumb (she already live in Hell). She really wants to start a book club in the hotel.

Charlie was definitely a lot more of a spoiled princess in her late teen years, spending most of her time in the lower rings, enjoying the luxury of her family's wealth and position, partying with Demon nobility, and occasionally getting into trouble… definitely didn't have anything to do with her parents often being too busy with politics or personal projects and Charlie acting out to get attention or anything. These days Charlie dislikes this period of her past and regrets not becoming involved with trying to help the Sinners earlier.

Seviathan definitely encouraged this former side of Charlie and often brought out the worst in her.

Incredibly physically affectionate, Charlie loves giving and receiving public displays of affection and tends to try to spoil Vaggie with gifts whenever Vaggie let's her.

Vaggie 

At her creation, she was given the purpose ‘to be a Tactician’ because while Lute was an absolute machine in combat, even Adam had to admit her ability to organize the Exorcist Army was dogshit.

Vaggie is naturally inclined towards organization, can process information quickly and has excellent memory retention.

Vaggie is definitely the smart one

The duty of a tactician isn't to take the lead but rather to inform and advise. She rarely takes the initiative on projects and tends to gravitate towards the position of second in command.

Grade A nerd, but she hides it fairly well. Vaggie discovered Anime when it first came to be and has been an avid fan of the art form ever since. She used to watch it with Lute (who mostly just liked to watch the fights) and has since managed to convince Charlie to join her.

Used to really enjoyed Real Time Strategy games but now playing them makes her feel guilty about her role in the Exorcists, so she has managed to fill the void with City builders and business sim games

After her encounter with Carmilla, she learned that her natural dexterity translates really well into dance and visits the Overlord once a week for lessons.

In terms of strength, Vaggie is solidly average by Exorcist standards, making her only a bit stronger than a normal human but she makes up for this by being one of the fastest and most dexterous. Especially in terms of flight, Vaggie held records for her speed and maneuverability. This is why it was such a tragedy that Vaggie lost her wings, though with her new wings she is rapidly regaining her speed and actually thinks she might be able to surpass her top speed given some time and practice.

Very easily embarrassed by public affection, won’t say no but she blushes so hard you could use her like a flashlight

ALEX KISTER's allegations: the copying fetish

This post refers to only that one aspect, since that's the one i can confidently talk about, and i'd like to spread awareness about the whole thing somehow.

How did this come to be?

On March 12, 2024, twitter user STIRRINGJUICE posted a google document, which consisted of mainly relationship problems and grooming allegations against Alex Kister, creator of The Mandela Catalogue, although there was another aspect of it which people were posting more and more about: Alex Kister made Mandela Catalogue around his fetish about impersonating people.

To be more clear, this meant that the creator got off to/felt aroused by the act or impersonating others and 'becoming' them.

However, this was mostly a misinterpretation from the community, since the only text on the og document i could find was this:

I think the first image is cropped, so i'll post the text: "Alex has a scent fetish and would specifically enjoy copying people’s poses because he wanted to pretend to be them. DB didn’t know at all."

We can point out two things about this:

- The only thing being called a fetish is the scent, only saying that he enjoys copying people's poses and pretend to be them.

- In the discord message, Alex only mentions that he would have loved taking pictures in those poses, which was only a vague example (A bad use and lack of evidence imo).

So far, this is the only text that addresses this at all, the rest are just: 60% accuser's shitty relationship, and 40% the grooming allegations.

Now, i'd like to imagine that users mixed scent fetish, with copying people, and got the "Copying fetish", like in these posts:

We can agree that this is a misinterpretation of the document, because of users assuming that, if Alex Kister has a copying fetish, then TMC must be a fantasy about it! (And i don't blame them, it's logical with the main themes being that demons copy people).

When i saw this, i immediately called bs, and this is the point of the post:

The Mandela Catalogue doesn't exhibit any trait of fetish work.

Why? Simple!

A very common thing in fetish work, are these two things.

Romanticize the fetish: especially for weird, and straight up illegal fetishes! They might downplay the severity, and play the scene as something normal, TMC never does this, it portrays the Alternates as terrifying because of their abilities to kill without even harming the victim physically, and their near-immortality.

In Made in Abyss, the weird scenes where the kids speak about sexual stuff is shown as a normal scene, like if it was something kids normally talk about.

Using the fetish as the main thing: this means focusing on the fetish itself and giving them too much screentime, to show them in a good light. The fetish specifically means copying another, and most of the alternates never quite copy other people perfectly, the most infamous ones are deformed, non-human appearing and most don't even copy a character we've already seen, and viceversa, we don't see much of the alternate version after we've know about the real person. (Caesar Torres and his alternate, Preacher, the scary hallway guy, and the archangel Gabriel and his Alternate, to name a few)

You might expect the fetish content focusing only on the act that involves the fetish, which leads me to my last point.

They never show an alternate actually changing into somebody else, morphing their features to look like the exact person, a fetish scene might be where the alternate is slowly morphing their features in front of the other person, to the exact same traits in front of them.

A few more points:

Mark Heathcliff, the character interpreted by Alex Kister himself, doesn't really have it's own Alternate, 'Caesar' only becoming him after Mark dies, and only like a frame, i feel like someone with that fetish would insert themselves more? I'm not sure how to explain.

If the story was about the fetish, i don't think the series would even have the biblical references.

To back up my previous point, the inspiration of Mandela Catalogue is about the creator's existential crisis with Christianity, Covid, Local58, and the Walten Files, cited by both Wikpedia and an interview.

So we've been out on the road all day and then we spent some time at my mom's house so I couldn't upload these till now. I did this a year ago but I wanted to redo this better.

Jela's eyes and how and why they change.

This is how his eyes normally look, no matter if he's happy, annoyed, sad or even pretty pissed off. This is just normal state in human form.

Seeing this pretty much means shit just got real. He's beyond pissed off. Listen, this man is the most chilled person you could ever hope to come across, it takes EFFORT to get him angry and it takes a special kind of EFFORT to get him so angry that his eyes turn into this. He isn't just gonna kill you, he's gonna make you suffer through it and make sure you die slow.

Having said that, his eyes also change to this when he's trying to intimidate someone or something. They'll also change to this state when he summons his weapon or when using any arcane abilities. That doesn't mean he's pissed off, it just happens. For non-divine it happens because magic can and will take its toll on the body and sometimes some magic can force certain physical traits to "surface" without the person being able to control it.

However, Jelani is divine so he should have complete control over it. Truth is it's a sub-conscious action. Remember, he's had that identity crisis his entire life and since berserkers's eyes faintly glow when they conjure up their weapons and/or armor he took that observation and sub-consciously makes his eyes change to that. So when he summons his weapon or uses any arcane abilities his eyes will change to that.

They also turn that way when he's injured or in some type of survival mode. Obviously he can't just go around with his eyes like this everywhere but he for the most part he can't exactly control it until he's conscious of it and even then he's got bigger shit to worry about.

((This is actually my favorite look to him because it legitimately scares the fuck out of me/creeps me the fuck out. Dude, if I managed to piss off some 6'6", 237 pound eldritch deity and he's staring at me with THOSE eyes I'd piss out all of my organs. This is incredibly rare to witness. In fact, his eyes have only ever changed to this, while in human form, only three times in his entire life.

This happens when he's reached a point of no return or more like he doesn't fucking care anymore and to say that's the equivalent of DEFCON 1 is the understatement of the millennium.

*There is a caveat though. His eyes changing to this while he's in HUMAN form is cataclysmic and all around not a good thing. However, this is how his eyes normally look while in divine form so it doesn't mean anything is wrong while in divine form. Human form though...eh, that's fucking bad.

Post Halo virus:

When he got infected with the Halo virus he went through all the symptoms but the one that left a permanent mark was the ocular trauma that affected his right pupil.

Basically his right pupil internally burst. It's only noticeable while his eyes are in that state while in human form or while in divine form. I gotta do some more research into how that would affect his vision in that eye while in divine form. The Halo virus targeted deities so obviously while in human form it wouldn't show unless his eyes change to these two examples.

You know, I always try to understand human reaction to something that I don't experience the same way. Because trying to put myself in other people shoes is something important to me, even if it is disturbing. It doesn't mean I will be OK with their version, but sometimes it helps me to find gray ground when I can be too passionate myself.

The whole "Jaskier hair do style thing" is right in my "I don't get it" spot, because it involves attraction.

I already told this but, it took me a very long time to understand that I didn't feel attraction the same way than most people around me, as I was growing up. Especially that I never have any sexual impulse when I found somebody attractive. I was putting the word because I thought that was similar for the other, hearing how they fancy some people. Also, while I recognise beauty, I am not feeling a thing for it.

I remember in my teenage years, having the weirdest "crush" in regard of my friends. For them, my crushes were ugly and I was strange. So I was saying : "they have charisma. I am attracted to that". Which was not completely false.

It's in my early thirties, when I manage to understand that I was ace, that I began to connect the dots and put words on the way I feel attraction. What charismatic traits I was attracted to in someone. And it changes with every person.

Very often though, I was attracted by someone's voice or way of speaking.

This is definitely the case for Joey for example. He is handsome in many aspect but, his overall softness (eyes, voice, demeanor) and the way he speaks (use words even) attract me a lot. For those who like my "cute joey overload" series, you will notice that the vast majority has him actually speaking. Because well, this is how it works for me 🤷🏽‍♀️.

For instance, in my teenage years, my actor "crush" was Alan Rickman when all my friend were falling for young DiCaprio. And I had never ceased to find him attractive when he aged, got fatter, and had less hair. For me Alan Rickman was magnetic. There was a softness in his eyes and when he spoke, I was glued to the screen.

The thing that startles me with the Jaskier's hair thing is that when I read very angry posts, comments or whatever about it, is not "they made him ugly" that I see but "they could hide imperfections better so I can still find him attractive the way I used to" (or for a part simply "here another reason to hate the show").

Also this is not a bad wig we are talking about this time, but his real hair. Don't forget that.

Sure they could have done something else. I see this is not the prettiest look. But I really don't see ugly there and I find him attractive the same way. I am not blind to beauty canon, really. And I genuinely can't find him ugly now.

The problem I have with the general rant about the way they made his hair is that it shows how uncanny normal imperfections have become to a lot of people. Especially in the online sphere.

There is a thin frontier between saying a preference about physical trait and actually make a person insecure about it. So be careful. Social media has a tendency to amply things as we find people with the same tastes.

Joey isn't reading any of this so I don't worry about him. And I won't make assumption about the way he sees himself. Maybe he doesn't like Jaskier's haircut. Maybe he does. Maybe he doesn't care. The only way the "they did him dirty" kind of comments would make sense to me would be if Joey himself says that he didn't like the way he looked here.

All I want to point out is that massive complainings about a physical thing can have repercussions.

It reminds me a youtuber I like, that has what I call "non typical canon beauty". He is not the one who has to most body shaming overall but it's there.

He is a bit short, with slight proportion issues, he is hairy, pear shaped and not muscular. I bet that the mental image you have with this description is not pretty at all. This is just a list of things that are commonly seen as not attractive and that he can be described with. But the guy is normal.

Early on, he seemed not to worry about the hairy part for example. One day, in one video, he pulled his shirt up a little bit to open a bottle with it. And people saw for the first time how hairy he really was. People thought they were joking, calling him Chewbacca for instance, or thought that stating that he should learn to use a razor was relevant. They found many ways to describe his hairyness, having fun about that.

Some time later he made a vlog where he drives a sort of submarine bike. The guy had shaved completely to appear topless... But people noticed the other imperfections. They joked about his lack of muscle. The next video he had to swim in a vlog, he went all covered, and people were like "why has he his shirt on ?" Really ? You really wondered why...

Now he almost never have clothes that let appear imperfections and hide if he has to remove layers. He is not shy to say that he has a poor appreciation of his body for a long time, but I guess the constant comments on the way he looked when showing "imperfections" didn't help with that.

And you know this one had to deal with unpleasant comments to say the least, even in the weirdest context. Like, he has a condition that gave him terrible sight. He had the cataract operation before his thirties to prevent him becoming blind later. In the first months after the operation he very happy to not have to wear contact lens or glasses. But then, his sight deteriorated again. Now, he often not wears glasses in his videos but he can't get without it quite often too, so sometimes he puts them on. When he first began to appear with glasses again, people joked about the fact that the operation failed. Like wtf !

Now people are used to it so it stopped but I was shocked it happened at all.

He had many remarks on his short stature or body shape over the years. It tend to have almost stopped now, fortunately. But sometimes it happens again when some imperfections are more apparent.

So now I want to understand. Can you tell me at which point someone is "uglified ?"

Here is the youtuber I am talking about.

The first picture, he was all groomed for someone else video. Second one, it's Instagram pose for a joke. The clothes are not pretty, but the angle is chosen to make him appear taller than he is, and hide some "imperfections". The last one is his more natural appearance, during one of his videos and we can see "imperfections".

If the first and the third had been reversed. Like, the first one would have been the way he chooses to appear for his content and the third the way someone else chooses for him. Would you say they uglified him then ?

He is as attractive in each picture to me, because what attracts me is something else I guess.

So it is the same for the new Jaskier look for me. I see what you don't like. I see some not flattering choices by the stylists team I guess. Could have it been something else ? More appealing ? Yeah maybe. This is my step toward you. But this is as far as I can get.

I don't see someone that turned ugly because of that. And most of all I don't feel angry about it.

I find Joey equally attractive now than he's always been.

Maybe you just don't like when imperfections are more apparent or certain hair cuts etc. Tastes and colors are your own. But ugly ? Really ?

Why are we happy about this again? Why is it fun quirky haha time, with Blake's ears missing?

The fandom really gets on my nerves when they treat Blake or any of the other faunus as if their status as faunus is just a funny cutesy fantasy trait, rather than an allegory for people of color who face racism and live as an oppressed people group. Blake losing her ears is not the equivalent to Ruby losing the red streaks in her hair or Weiss with no ponytail, the writers very specifically and purposefully made 'Blake loses her ears' the equivalent to a woman of color suddenly becoming a white woman. It's very weird (but not at all unexpected) for people in the fandom to be like "lol our cat girl isn't a cat girl anymore what will she do."

Like babes.... Why are we accepting that this? Why aren't more people talking about how this was a bad idea? I don't trust these writers to get a plot like "someone in an oppressed people group loses the trait that makes them oppressed somehow" with all the time in the world, let alone in a less-than-two-hours long crossover movie with several other characters way more popular than Team RWBY will ever be about Team RWBY going to another world!! Like oh, I hope we find enough time for the writers to properly handle the incredibly badly made, badly written for faunus plotline to properly give Blake the time and space she needs to have this new completely unnecessary (because she's lived while hiding her faunus traits before) thing dealt with in a sensitive way that isn't at all used as a joke on top of her already dealing with the fact that she already wouldn't be facing the same level of discrimination on earth without changing her physical appearance. /s

"Don't judge yet, they might be teaching Blake some kind of valuable lesson about-" The only Faunus in the group is the LAST character that needs to learn some kind of lesson involving the Faunus. Every other character needs to get whammed by a brick that says 'start caring about the Faunus and/or apologize to Blake or Sun for the thing you did wrong by them in the first place.' I'm not saying Blake doesn't need to learn anything, but why do fans seem to think that Blake more than anyone needs to learn some sort of lesson about her being a Faunus? Why are we happy that once again they're doing weird unnecessary things they won't have the time to properly go into and when they don't seem to have the inclination to do enough research to not call Blake a NON-HUMAN DIFFERENT SPECIES after having ten years to think about it? This is a bad thing, not a cute funny quirky little thing.

how 'romantic' are they?: ..... I guess I'll have to stretch this out a bit otherwise this whole form is going to be so boring to read. He doesn't understand love and has no interest in understanding it either. However, if he is put in a situation where he is forced to come to a certain understanding of it (such as if I'm writing a ship set in a 'canon-lore-friendly' verse where he is a demon), he obviously knows what others expect him to act like if they want him to be romantic. He knows all of the clichés and tropes as he has used that before in... immoral scenarios. But since this is supposed to be the 'real deal', I imagine that he would still do all of those stereotypical romantic things, but he would have a hard time separating himself from the 'ok time to manipulate them'-mindset. Depending on how long he is together with someone ( and it obviously depends on what kind of person the other is as well), he'll learn all of their do's and don'ts, and try his very best to be as romantic as he can be. This might sound like a really sweet thing, but... really, he is quite possessive and wants to 'make sure' what's 'his' stays his, so a lot of his romantic gestures still might come off as him attempting to make sure they aren't going anywhere. He wants them to be happy, of course, but he wants to be happy too (otherwise this is a complete waste of his time). It's honestly a massive mixed bag. He has a very twisted view on love, but again, depending on the dynamic, he could still eventually learn to not be as manipulative and be more genuine in his advances. This is the part where I yell 'I CAN FIX HIM!!!' but it would take an awful lot of delicious work.

ideal physical traits: ... Honestly, as long as you don't look like a certain red-head with green eyes and glasses he couldn't care less about any ideal physical traits. As long as you're taking care of yourself, you're fine.

Romantic Orientation: Heterosexual. It's the one boring thing she's got going for her. But also like- demi I guess?

Preferred Pet Names: Will call others she in love with things such as 'my heart', or 'my home'. She will say them in draconic. She's not particular what others call her so long as it isn't something like 'pet'. Things of that nature are insulting, as the insinuate inferiority and ownership.

Relationship Status: Single and ready to mingle

True Love: The concept of true love is something wonderful and different to her. Her environment was loving growing up, and it isn't like love doesn't exist among dragonborn, but it's different. It's- I'd say it's something between humanity and whatever the flying heck the gith are doing. On top of that, Dragonborn mostly marry temporarily, and there's no love between them when they have children.

Love at First Sight: She knows logically that one meeting and a light chat doesn't count as love. Not even close. But the storyteller in her loves the concept. Attraction at first sight just doesn't have as good a ring to it.

How Romantic Are They? She goes against the bardic stereotype in this department. Everyone would likely peg her as being disgusting levels of romantic, but she's pretty low-key. She isn't going to show up under your window and play the lyre while loudly crooning a love song unless you asked her to (or if she was trying to be obnoxious). She prefers to do acts of service.

Ideal Physical Traits: Anyone that has draconic or draconic-like physical traits has a small advantage on Hotness Checks™. But really, she's not terribly particular on physical appearance. Do try not to have bird legs though. You'll never keep up with her if you skipped leg day.

Ideal Personality Traits: People who harbor goodness. People who put into the world what they want it to be like. People who work hard to bring honor to their name. People who, despite any sort of limitations, are willing to take a risk and put their necks out there because something is right.
