the people who are adamantly against ever feeding dogs and cats raw food sound ridiculous tbh if you've ever cared for a carnivorous reptile. there are many people who feed whole raw prey to their animals on a regular basis and there are well established safety precautions to make sure neither the human nor the animal get sick from it.

#reptiles are even more susceptible to many infections than mammals because of their lower body temperature #whole prey is considered the standard and the best option for many reasons and it feels silly to completely push those reasons aside #that said if you ever do feed an animal raw meat BE CAREFUL and do your research and make sure they're getting all the nutrients they need #but that said I don't think it makes sense to be adamently against it the way so many people on the internet are.#make sure that you're getting it from a source you trust that raises healthy animals in clean conditions and freezes them right away #don't mix raw animal food contact surfaces and human food surfaces. use gloves. disinfect tools and surfaces after use. thaw things safely.#but disease is not an inevitable consequence to feeding raw prey #that said like the dog and kittens at my house aren't fed raw but I understand the benefits of feeding whole raw prey #from caring for reptiles. and I would love to give the kittens a frozen thawed mouse every once in awhile as a nutritious treat
