Okay but these are the exact same eyes of Ozai!
So much that at first glance, I thought it was him-
It's kinda scary tho...
I mean...
Tumblr media
Like, the only difference between them is that Ozai has more wrinkles
It basically makes it look like the eyes of the older Azula🤔

the first step ursa and azula take to soothing the severed parts of their relationship involve ursa making azula laugh.
its like a crab shedding the old shell and getting a new one, azula thinks. mother had been tense and paranoid as they made their way out of caldera city, through the colonies, onto a supply ship, and across the ocean for three whole days. then they finally landed in some random earth kingdom harbor and started walking. it wasn’t until the ocean was finally out of sight and they were surrounded by nothing but trees and dirt that mother relaxed.
and how strange is that? azula hadn’t realized that she’d never seen what her mother looks like while relaxed, until she did. it reminds azula to unclench her own jaw and loosen her own tight fists.
azula isn’t worried, though. there isnt a single man walking the earth kingdom that packs as much of a punch as lu ten does, after all. what’s a bunch of mud and rocks to lightning?
however, lu ten has been working himself like a dog picking up day long jobs and favors for any person they come across to make extra coin. they still have plenty left from the jewelry and gold trinkets they traded at the port town, but lu ten is someone that likes to be overly prepared, so he does it anyway. and on top of that, he does katas and sparring with her and zuko every morning at sunrise to make sure they shake some sparks out. until they can find a place that they know for sure they’ll be settling down in, the bending will have to be kept at a low.
so, mother tries to ease his burdens by cooking.
mother quickly discovers that she is no good at cooking.
apparently, even before being wedded to father, she had never been in a situation where she needed to cook for herself. then the servants at the palace cooked for her. but now there are no servants.
zuko took a handful of the rice mother prepared, and spat it right out. he then claims he bit down on a rock.
the sheer dismay on mother’s face combined with the disgust on zuko’s were the funniest things azula had seen in weeks.
she cackles like a hyena-lynx, and doesn’t even notice how her mother turns to her, her dismayed expression shifting to wonder.

Ghost AU
Zuko laid wide awake on his bed still in his crisp white funeral robes. Firelord Azulon’s funeral was mere hours ago and yet it felt like the whole world had caved in on itself. Everyone mourned Azulon and praised the freshly crowned Ozai, but no one said a word about Ursa. Not father. Not the servants. Not even Azula after this morning when she taunted him. Ursa’s room was stripped bare and painting taken down.
It was like she never existed.
“Where are you Mom…” Zuko whispered. “Why did you leave me?”
A tear rolled down his cheek. Then another. Zuko buried his head into the pillow and cried. He didn’t care that it was the trait of weakness and vulnerability. No one can see him. He was alone.
Truly alone now.
Foolish boy.
Zuko flinched. Someone was here. Must be one of the servants. How did he not hear them come in?
“I didn’t give permission to enter. Leave!”
Tch. Why am I wasting my time?
Sadness quickly turned to anger as he shot up and snared. “How dare-“
The words died on his tongue. The intruder was no servant. Even with his back towards him heading for the door, Zuko knew.
“G-Grandfather…?”
Azulon turned as surprise covered his face. He was still in his sleepwear with his hair loose. But what disturbed Zuko the most was his skin. His whole body really. Nearly transparent. Like it was almost whole but not really. Caught in between.
The boy is spirit touched.
“N-No. This isn’t happening. You’re dead!”
Obviously. Azulon drew closer to the frighten boy. Do you know why?
Zuko closed his eyes and beat his head. “This isn’t real!”
Answer me boy!
Azulon’s tone left know room for argument. Zuko instantly sat up like he was drilled to by his tutors.
“H-Heart failure?”
Azulon let out a bitter laugh. Yes I supposed that would happen after ingesting POISON!
Zuko scooted back, terrified.
“What are you tal-“
Where’s your wretched mother?!
“I-I…”
She did this to me! To preserve you!
Zuko’s eyes widened. Azula was right.
Father really was going to kill him per Azulon’s request. But Mom…
I vowed to haunt that wretch for the rest of her miserable life for what she did to me. Azulon glared at Zuko. But… even the best laid plan can be modified.
“Grandfather…?”
Until you die boy. Azulon walked right towards him.
“W-Wait. Stay back!” Zuko threw a fireball at him but it merely phased through.
Or until he finally kills you.
Azulon phased right through Zuko and disappeared. The boy shivered uncontrollably. He wrapped himself in the covers then pulled his knees to his chest; teeth still clattering. It was just a dream. He’ll wake up soon.
He has to.

Sokka liked to stay busy.
Idle hands meant an idle mind as Dad would always say. There was a lot that needed to be done now that all the men left for war. Dad entrusted him to see it done. It was hard of course, but the work was a much-needed distraction.
Sokka was going mad.
When alone, he’d felt a presence hovering close by. Caught a flash of faded blue or the tail end of a hum. Worse yet, the feeling, the presence, was achingly familiar. But whenever Sokka turned around to face it, they vanished.
Dehydration. Hunger. Artic illusions. Midnight Sun madness.
The list went on. But deep down, Sokka knew what it was.
“Just show yourself already!” he yelled when the presence drew practically close that day. Tears welled up in his eyes. “Please Mom… I’m starting to forget…”
Nothing.
Sokka furiously wiped his eyes then went back to sharpening his weapon; his heart hardening with each swipe.
~*~
Katara wished she could forget.
She fainted the first time she saw her mother burned and maimed beyond recognition; her young mind was unable to process it. She screamed the second time when the wispy figure slipped into their hut in the dead of night whispering her name. Gran-Gran convinced her it was just a nightmare. After the fourth time in broad daylight, Katara was not convinced.
Sweetie please… I know you can see me.
Katara squeezed her eyes shut and turned her head.
Kya sighed. Alright. I’m… I’m sorry. This is so hard for you. I didn’t want to… Katara heard her voice crack. I’ll leave you in peace-
“NO!”
Katara threw herself in Kya’s direction. She passed through something and fell onto the snow shivering.
“Don’t go Mom! Please don’t leave me!!!”
Her face was melted and disfigured, skin charred and clothes blacken from fire and ash, but she was still her mother. Katara still loved her. Always.
“Don’t go…”
Oh my girl.
Katara became unnaturally cold again, trembling down to her soul.
I’m here Katara. I’m here...

[fic: ynyd] Peter & Tony — sooo what did you two end up doing for Tony’s most recent birthday?
Peter: I made him miniature articulated models of DUM-E and U that he could keep on his desk! It's kind of simple, but--
Tony: Shut up, they're perfect. He made them a tiny dunce cap and fire extinguisher.
Peter: Well, you love accessories. And-- I made dinner? Nothing super fancy, but…
Tony: Baby, what's with the disclaimers? No disclaimers. It was great.
Peter: I-- yeah, okay, it was great.
Tony: There you go.

I have heard some people say that you had a harem ? Did you ?
Iroh being a lazy womanizer damaged the family's public image irremediably, I see. Some of us have honor. I was busy ruling a country and trying to expand our Empire to finally fulfill the dream of my ancestors. I definitely had no time to pursue women (like Iroh). I was also not only a proper Prince, but a married man too. You should be asking Ursa if she didn't have more playthings hidden somewhere apart from Ikea.

y'know I'm a little surprised that the Princess Bride reference didn't win, but then again, this one is also a great choice
Sabine’s face is set in determination. “Okay, I’m gonna ask you a really weird question, and I need you to be honest.”
“Sure.”
“Completely honest.”
Ezra nods. “Of course. What is it?”
“If I asked you to, would you fake-marry me?”
Ezra stares at her.
“…would I fake-marry you?”
“Yes. If I asked, would you? Because—” She sucks in a breath of air, and he can sense her spiking anxiety. “Because, you’re my best friend and if I had to choose someone to spend the rest of my life with it would be you, and my family thinks you’re great, and—and if we were fake-married then when I go back to the Ghost you could have the bottom bunk in my room and you wouldn’t have to share with Zeb anymore, and it would be fun, right? And—when we’re older, maybe we could adopt a kid, or a Padawan, and let’s be honest, it would be hilarious for the Countess of Clan Wren to have a Jedi son-in-law, and you don’t have to say yes, obviously, this is just random and hypothetical and—okay, it’s not hypothetical, but you can say no and I’d understand, but—”
He interrupts her with a touch on the arm.
“Sabine.”
She winces and looks away, but Ezra smiles.
“I would totally fake-marry you.”
Sabine meets his eyes instantly. “Really?”
“Really. We’ve been fake-dating for two years; this is just the logical next step, right?” he jokes, but she stays serious.
“You don’t need time to think about it?”
“No. Honest.”
For a second, their gazes hold, and then Sabine nearly tackles him over in the second enormous hug she’s given him that day.
“Thank you,” she whispers, squeezing him tightly for a second before letting go, and she sounds so relieved that it makes him wonder if there’s some bigger reason she wants to fake-marry him. (Probably complicated Mandalorian politics.) “You’re actually kind of great, Ezra Bridger.”
“And somehow it took you this long to figure it out,” he banters back.
“Very funny.” She punches his arm with a laugh, then clasps his hands and meets his eyes and smiles so warmly that he would think there was something more behind it, if he didn’t know there wasn’t. “So, who are we thinking for wedding guests?”
Ezra thinks for a moment pretending to be solemn, then cracks a grin. “Can we invite all the guys who said you were out of my league and pity-dating me?”
“Only if I can paint Chopper pink and make him our flower droid.”
“Deal.”

Seeing so many people putting Azula and Zuko against each other bothers me a lot, because that's literally what Ozai did. How can you guys not see that? It's canon
Azula and Zuko were both terrible to eachother in multiple occasions (edit: actually, Azula was terrible to Zuko, but I didn't wanna get jumped by Azula stans so I made it seem like they were both bad. Sorry about that and thanks for correcting me), but they're both traumatized children fighting a war that started before they were even born. The war made them that way. Ozai made them that way
Azula was horrible to Zuko for most of his life, and that's canon. You can't deny it. But at the same time, it MOSTLY wasn't her fault
So, we know how Ozai clearly liked Azula more than Zuko did. But why is this? Zuko may not be as good as Azula in terms of bending, but he's not a bad bender. Ozai likes Azula more (not loves; likes) because she acts the way he wants her to act. She's cold, mean, calculating, manipulative and supports the Fire Nation. Zuko is nice, he asks too many questions, struggles with his emotions and can't seem to stfu (I know I sound mean saying that but that's literally canon. That boy cannot, for the love of god, shut his fucking mouth up)
Ozai made Azula be more like him. Zuko gets his kindness from his mother
And on the topic of Ursa, she canonically loves both of her children, even if she prefers Zuko due to him being less like their abuser. We never see her calling Azula a monster, besides of the scene where she says “What is wrong with that child?” OUTSIDE OF HEARING RANGE and right after Azula did something Bad™ (forgot what it was sorry). This is why I believe that Ursa never directly told Azula she feared her: Ozai told her she did. Ozai spent a lot more time with Azula than he did with Zuko, which was very easily an opportunity to poison her mind even more. And how did he do this?
By telling her everyone hated her.
He isolated her, made her cold and unforgiving, so that she wouldn't have any “weaknesses” like Zuko did. He used her as a means to abuse Zuko. He told her Zuko and Ursa were weak and that they both feared and hated her
Zuko would be right to be angry at Azula for treating him the way she did,but he still should know (and he DOES know, it was literally the main theme of his redemption arc; realizing that his abuser was the one at fault and not him) that the one at fault was Ozai. Same with Azula; it wasn't Zuko's fault nor Ursa's, Ozai is the one that willingly chose to destroy so many people's lives because he wanted power
And I'm pretty sure Zuko and Azula don't hate eachother like many people believe them to do. No, they love eachother, but ofc Ozai fucking ruined their relationship bc he ruins EVERYTHING
Zuko is sad that their relationship turned out to be that way. Zuko wants them to be better, to do better. Zuko wants them to be happy. But Zuko has also grown up with a version of Azula that could never make mistakes and that was mean af. Zuko won't be able to have a perfectly healthy relationship with his sister ever because of how he was made to think of Azula as perfect, and because Azula was made to think of him as weak
So, please, don't pit them against eachother. Don't compare the abuse they went through (seriously. Doing that is disgusting). Don't bring one of them down to make the other look like a little angel that does nothing wrong. They already suffer because of that enough in canon. Leave my babies alone
#but really. the only person that was actually abusive in the fire family was ozai#ozai used his daughter to torment zuko and ursa; ruining her life and mental health in the process#and ursa wasn't the greatest mother but c'mon. she was trapped with a man she was forced to marry#she was literally taken away from her home and most likely SAd by him multiple times so they could have heirs#and YES it was SA. ursa did NOT want to go with him. she didn't want to marry him#and she definitely didn't want to have children with him#but she still loved her children so much#she did all she could. especially considering her poor mental health at the moment#she tried#so don't come to me with any of your “ursa didn't love azula and she was a terrible mother” bullshit#ursa loved BOTH OF HER CHILDREN#she showed favoritism over zuko because azula was mimicking her worst abuser's actions#and yet she still tried to show azula love and appreciation#but ofc ozai fucking ruined that#ursa never directly told azula that she feared her#i 100% believe that ozai told azula ursa hated her to isolate her even further#also azula wouldn't be in the wrong to be angry at zuko for leaving#the first time? yes she'd be wrong because he didn't leave he was kicked out#the second time? well. she is a 14 year old girl#she probably saw Zuko's betrayal as something more personal#AND AGAIN!!#azula is allowed to be angry. she's allowed to have feelings#but she needs to know and understand that her miserable life wasn't zuko's (or ursa's) fault#in the comics (yes i know they're terrible don't come at me) it's shown how she blames everyone but herself and ozai#she says ursa was the one at fault. she antagonizes zuko and attempts to make him more like ozai#she also antagonizes kiyi (her half sister)#she antagonized a lot of people#atla#oh and abt what i said before. azula WAS abusive. it was Ozai's fault but she really was abusive#sorry if i made it look like i was denying it

more atla thoughts:
it was correct for aang to not kill ozai. however, i think zuko and azula deserve a little patricide, as a treat. post-series adventure road trip where azula breaks out of prison and kidnaps her brother so they can go kill their dad. and then azula is like "okay zuko we're friends again now right?" and zuko is like. "no. go back to jail. i love you i'll see you next week for tea"
the entire premise of korra fucks up the avatar world's worldbuilding and i think it would actually make more sense if, in a post-ozai world, people being aware of energybending led to children of mixed-race families being able to bend more than one element.
2a. so then what is the role of the Avatar in a world where they are not the only person capable of bending more than one element? what is the very martial Korra's role in a world that needs a spiritual leader way way more than they need an mma fighter?
2b. that eliminates the weirdly ethno-nationalist implication that there have never been mixed-race families ever before in history while still implying a cultural/societal reason for a shift in how bending is manifesting--people are growing more aware of separation being an illusion because actually there was a Secret Form of bending all along, and a bunch of mixed-race kids are definitely going to be like WELL THEN I SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO BEND FIRE/EARTH, SHOULDN'T I? and then just do it
3. zukaang could never happen because zuko would definitely remember halfway through kissing aang that roku is his great-grandfather and be like. no, the risk is too great. what if avatar roku manifests for some reason while we are doing it. unacceptable.

[db AU Tony <can we ask him questions? Ignore if not>] have you given up on ever bringing your Peter back? And if not, what would happen to Pyrite Peter if you did eventually find a way?
I didn't give up-- I succeeded. How dare you?
[[🐻ursa interlude🐻
…so yeah sim!tony went off the deep end
His view of Pyrite!Peter is not at all stable! There's elements of "I found a way to bring him back to me" where he's almost treating P!Peter as something like a reincarnation of origiPete, where they are one and the same in some kind of abstract way regardless of having different lives/experiences. There's elements of full-on delusion where sometimes he sees P!Peter 100% as the son he raised and happily talks about their "past" ""memories"" """together""" while P!Peter nods along terrified.
There's elements where he acknowledges that P!Peter isn't actually origiPete-- obviously he's much more awful to P!Peter in ways he wouldn't have been to the original-- but is viewing P!Peter as something like a living idol through which he can express his love for his son. There's elements of extreme grief where he feels the full weight of the fact that his son is gone and this person is just a (beloved, but not equivalent) replacement.
In general he tries to consciously stay in the "this is my actual child who has made his way back to me via the multiverse" reincarnationesque zone, but the unconscious experience is extremely varied and contradictory and sometimes all of the elements are laying over top of each other at once.
As far as the specific questions: he did not go Peter-snatching until he felt that he has fully exhausted his resources for actually bringing his Peter back ("gave up",) yes. If origiPete somehow ended back up in their lives…
His own internal impulse would be "great, two sons!" though origiPete would be, like, Son Prime and P!Peter would immediately become second fiddle, but he would handle it however origiPete wanted with no pushback-- with his for-real actual son back in his life, he would be happy to send P!Peter back home and would not particularly mourn him; all of those love and devotion and obsession feelings would be instantly transferred back to origiPete the second origiPete said he didn't want P!Peter around.
(This is, interestingly, a slight contrast to how he'd handle it if origiPete never died and another Peter somehow mysteriously appeared in their world, where he would ultimately defer to origiPeter's feelings on it like I said in that earlier ask, but would try a little harder to talk Pete around into letting him start to build his Peter harem lmao.)]]

"The Ursa mega lazes about after a long day of feasting... Soon he will hibernate, helping to keep his body temperature low during these hot summer days..." *ichi is quietly monologuing while an equally excited kaito peeks around the corner with him, the two of them spying on ripper!*
"Ursa megas are known to drop seeds of agility, but I don't think our combined strength would be enough to take this one down... He's just far too powerful..."
Ripper had saw those two spying on him, but he didn't mind; in anything, he was very curious about whatever Ichiban and Kaito were mumbling about over there!!!
"...?" A loud, content huff from his nose, Ripper relaxes even more in his spot in front of the fan..... very amused at the fact the dragon knows they both can't take him down~ Though he'd like to see them come over and try, anyway! Mostly because he knows they absolutely would not be able to take him down, nor especially be able to even flip on his side, as indicated by the glance he gives them both, looking quite smug~
