Cobblemon is a relatively new mod to Minecraft, and is arguably the best Pokémon mod out there! However, because it is so new, it has little in the way of content. Don't get me wrong, the foundations are there, but it needs more time. In order to fill the content gap that currently exists, you can rely on the efforts of the community. Many modders are working hard to develop insanely awesome mods. They are super easy to install, and work flawlessly without performance issues. With so many to choose from, it can be difficult to determine which ones to pick. I've done that for you, with the list of the 10 best addon mods for Cobblemon! How do I install mods and add-ons for Cobblemon? It depends on what type they are. .jar files go into the ".minecraft\mods" folder .zip files go into the ".minecraft\resourcepacks" packs folder Note: The best place to find new mods/addons while keeping up to date with new updates is by joining the official Cobblemon Discord channel: https://discord.gg/VHSDuN5U 10) PokéNests Download link (Discord) A datapack that adds naturally generated Pokemon nests around your world, loosely based on nests from Pokemon Go, as well as outbreaks from the mainline games. At each nest, a bunch of Pokemon of the same species will spawn, with a very high shiny rate. The nests themselves will be relatively rare, and biome dependent. Having some unique nests to encounter on your journeys will add another level of depth to an already awesome mod! 9) Pokémon Fishing Download link (Modrinth) Simply craft yourself a fishing rod, find some water, and then cast your line. Rather than always getting some fish or items (if you're lucky), this addon lets you fish up Pokémon. While sure, you can encounter plenty of water-type Pokémon by simply visiting rivers or oceans, this is a neat addition. 8) Magikarp Jump Pack Download link (Modrinth) Playing Cobblemon, you will encounter a lot of Magikarp. This simple mode is super easy to install and adds a bit of finesse to your water locations. Magikarp no longer have the default skin, they have up to 31 variants to spawn as! This includes shiny versions for both Magikarp and Gyarados. 7) ReimaginedUI Download link (Discord) The default UI provided by Cobblemon is fine, it does the job. What this UI does is upgrade it aesthetically, propelling you toward total immersion. As well as the Cobblemon menu, ReimaginedUI will change your item hotbar to match it. Suddenly, Cobblemon turns from a cool mod to a video game experience. 6) VidyaCries Download link (Discord) Currently, there are no sound effects in Cobblemon. It's a bit lousy, although they will surely be implemented in the future. VidyaCries adds another layer of immersion by adding the cries for each Pokémon in the game. Whether it's one in the wild, or one you have entered battle with. No matter where you go, you'll constantly hear the cries of nearby Pokémon. This not only alerts you to new Pokémon in the area, but it also fleshes out your own Pokémon with a bit of personality! 5) Saltmons Download link (Modrinth) Cobblemon has a pretty nice and versatile roster but by no means can it not be increased. Saltmons adds 9 new Pokémon, including Rotom and all of its forms! Rotom is a fan favorite so it's very good to see brought to life in Minecraft. Working alongside evolution stones, you can freely evolve and devolve your Rotom as you see fit. As well as this, Saltmons adds legendary Pokémon like Heartran to give you something to look for in the Nether. 4) XaerosCobblemon Download link (Modrinth) Be warned; installing this mod makes Minecraft a much easier game to play. XaerosCobblemon is an addon for a mod called Xaero's Minimap. This gives you a box containing a minimap of your surrounding area. With this addon, it'll also show you all nearby Pokémon!
I strongly suggest editing the settings to hide non-Pokémon as it shows you exactly where mobs are, taking that element of surprise away. Additionally, it shows you the nearby biomes around you. It makes it much easier to find your way to where you're going. For this reason, a lot of the adventurous aspect is taken away as the fear of getting lost is greatly reduced. However, for a pure Pokémon experience in Cobblemon, you simply must have this mod! 3) PokéBuildings Download link (Discord) Upon installing Cobblemon and launching a new world, you are thrust into a default Minecraft experience with a bunch of Pokémon walking around. With this mod, you can encounter Pokécenters, Pokémarts, and a myriad of other structures. This mod really helps to bring Cobblemon to life. I won't spoil it too much but you can find some really cool monuments in just about every biome! 2) MysticMons Download link (Modrinth) MysticMons introduces a ton of new Pokémon into the game, many of which were created by the Cobblemon team themselves. This mod mostly adds animations and spawning conditions to the Pokémon created by the Cobblemon team. It's not much, but it's honest work. Some of these Pokémon include Victini, Jirachi, and even Mew! No legendaries are currently in the base Cobblemon mod, so this mod is sorely needed. 1) Legendary Encounters Download link (Modrinth) No other addon mod is as necessary for Cobblemon as Legendary Encounters. It completely changes the content and endgame of Cobblemon, giving you tons more to experience. While roaming across biomes, you will encounter beacons you can use to summon powerful Legendary Pokémon. Other Mythical Pokémon may spawn randomly around the world. A new custom villager is also added, but I won't spoil too much about that. Overall, I highly suggest you look into this addon mod and install it asap if you're using Cobblemon. And do it quick, before your map has been explored and the structures can't generate close by!
