Wooyoung's POV

Should've known better than to come to a ‘thanksgiving’ party alone. Yeah, chatting with strangers who are supposed to be neighbors, drinking, and eating these really good fried chicken is fun. But something feels missing.

And talking about fried chicken, I really miss Yeosang. That lovely motherfucker rejected my idea of coming to the party together because apparently, my boy has got a meeting to attend.

I'm pretty sure he's laying on his bed, playing games right now!

And now, everyone is minding their own businesses. So I'm just sitting here alone.

But no worries, I see another girl sitting alone. Even though her face isn't that visible, I can still see that she's zoning out.

She looks surprisingly familiar…hey, isn't that the girl from the cafe who's also in the club?

Should I approach her? But if she's here, and if I remember correctly, only people from this neighborhood and age-group were invited, is she with someone?

I mean, while she could be someone living in this neighborhood, it just doesn't feel like it.

I don't really remember seeing her outside of the cafe and the University…

Fuck it, if she was with someone, they'd be with her. And why should it matter to me if she's with someone? Wooyoung, you just wanna be her friend, nothing else.

And hongjoong hyung was correct, her name was…Yujin. Yeah, Yujin. (He threatened Hongjoong to tell him)

And like that, he now sat in front of Yujin.

“W-wooyoung-ssi?”

Yujin was surprised, she didn't really expect him to suddenly know her name.

“No need to use Ssi, but yeah, I'm Wooyoung, tho you already know that. Are you alone?” Wooyoung chuckled, trying his best to look cool and open the can of soda.

“Yes, Karina invited me so I just came alone,” Yujin said, not knowing if she should feel embarrassed.

“How did you know my name, tho?” She raised an eyebrow. afterall she never really held a conversation with him.

“Already told you, a little birdie told me.”

She stared at him for a while.

“Okay okay, I just asked Hongjoong hyung.”

Wooyoung said, feeling defeated.

“So does Hongjoong-ssi go around telling people his clubmates’ names”

Yujin was asking questions after questions.

“No…I asked him."

“Oh. If you really wanted to know my name, you could've just knocked on my door.” Yujin said, picking up a soda can.

“I don't know your address tho…”

“I live beside you, next door."

“What.” Wooyoung questioned, quite confused.

“I live beside you. I'm your next door neighbor” Yeojin said, taking a sip from her soda.

“So you're the one yelling Seventeen lyrics at 1 am!?” Wooyoung gasped.

“I'm not ‘yelling’, I'm singing!” Yujin corrected, feeling quite offended.

“I don't think shouting ‘ULGO SHIPJI ANHA’ on top of your lungs is called singing, but keep going, I guess.”

“... let's be friends” Yeojin suggested, quite unintentionally. She liked his vibe.

“We became friends when you forced me to tell you that I forced Hongjoong hyung to tell me your name.”

“Ok, buddy” Yeojin sipped her soda again.

And that was the start of a friendship.

Yujin visits the cafe almost every day during the week. She'll go there, get her order and either study there, or brainstorm ideas there. She had also tried sketching a portrait of Wooyoung without him noticing.

But it didn't really turn out…great. So, she assumed that Wooyoung does not need to know about it.

They also hung out at the cafe in the evening. Yujin writing some random story ideas down while Wooyoung cleans up.

Normally, After Wooyoung cleans up, he hangs out with Yeosang, so he books Yujin an Uber.

Today, however, Yeosang couldn't hang out because tomorrow, he has a test.

So, Wooyoung keeps wondering if he should just walk home with Yujin while cleaning.

After he was done, he noticed Yujin was packing up. He put his apron away and walked over to her.

“Do you have any plans today, Yujin?” He asked.

“Uh, no. I'm free” she answered.

“Then…wanna go to the arcade with me?” Wooyoung asked, slightly shy for no reason at all. He wasn't asking her out on a date, why did he feel so shy!?

“Arcade? I'd love to!” Yujin smiled. She had recently found an interest in arcades but she never found the time to go there much.

Wooyoung's POV

“Thank you for today.” Yujin said, her bangs softly falling on her eyes. Her arms were full of two plushies, the panda one I won, the penguin she won.

She's so pretty…

I quickly straightened up, smiling, “It's nothing!”

A silence fell between us as we slowly walked to our apartment. Until she started a little conversation.

“So, you've known Yeosang for quite a while, huh?”

“Yeah, we've been friends since high school. I'm happy that we are still together.”

I mumbled, it was no lie. Yeosang was the best friend I could ever have.

As the arcade wasn't that far from our apartment, we reached home quite quickly.

As we both stood at our doors, I was about to say goodbye when she suddenly stopped me.

“Wooyoung.”

“Hmm?” I asked, unsure about what she might want to ask. Damn, was this too much like a date? I hope she doesn't think I'm creepy-

“Keep this” Yujin walked to me, handing me the penguin plushie.

I held the plushie, dumbfounded. Rather confused, I looked back at her and asked,

“But you won it, shouldn't you take it?”

“You gave me yours. I wanna give you mine”

Yujin said, before opening her door and getting in. Before closing the door, she said,

“Goodnight, Wooyoung.”

“Goodnight, Yujin”

I mumbled, still looking at the plushie. I clumsily opened my own door, getting inside and closing the door.

After I was sure no one could see me and I was safe between my own apartment walls, I let out a high pitched giggle, hiding my face in the plushie.

The plushie Yujin handed me.

I first (actively) got into Hetalia in early 2022 iirc. So I'm pretty new to the fandom but I can't believe it's already been 2 years!

My favorite Hetalia character fluctuates and it's so hard to decide tbh!! So it'd be easier for me to list my top favs instead: Nyo Russia & Russia, Nyo America, Canada, Germany & Nyo Germany, Nyo Belarus & Belarus, Romano, and Prussia. I like a lot of others too ofc... England, France & Nyo France, Nyo Italy, Spain & Nyo Spain...

If I were to pick a top top top fav it'd have to be Nyo Russia(if you couldn't tell by my pfp lol). I love her design and the personality I gave her in my head. I'm very picky about her characterization and tend to throw out many drafts attempting her. She is so complex... Although Nyo Germany, Nyo America, and more recently Canada are up there too. I love writing and reading them! I've also gotten a new appreciation for Arthur? I now get why he used to be a Tumblr sexyman lol. He's very versatile

My top otp must be Amecan I guess, though USUK was my first ship and it's still a top contender. I was obsessed with Gerpru for some time so it's also up there! I also like Rusger, especially the Nyo Russia x Germany combination which tends to be nonexistent in the western fandom. And Nyo Rusbela gives me brainworms that regular Rusbela doesn't for some reason

As for ships I dislike... I'm probably gonna have to go against the grain here and say Rusame. The art and fics of it are usually so beautiful but it's just really not to my tastes. I don't like it in any variation, though I'll still read it if it's well written. My friends are VERY into it so no shade to anyone who likes it lol. Other popular ships I'm also not into are Rusliet, Prucan, and Rochu.

And yeah I hydrate myself like a camel don't worry. Drinking tea nonstop is part of my culture. I hate coffee but my doctor says I need to consume more caffeine so I may have to force myself to start drinking it 😔😔
