ik the cult doesn't exist in your veil au but does Bernard know Tim is/was robin? cuz if not I feel like he'd totally flirt with him without knowing it's actually Tim

also everytime I think of this au that one post with the reversed popular tropes pops into my head specifically 'guy who's nice to everyone else but you' cuz as miserable as bern might be sometimes I don't think he'd be intentionally rude to other modals ykwim??

bc tim who is popping boners over bernard's bare shoulders and who desperately wants to have that connection with bear again would not let bear's fascination with robin pass by

so he'd do everything possible to not let bear find out. he'd let himself fall in love with bear during his nightly visits. he'd let bear fall in love with him even though he knows that bear does Not like tim. he'd make up extensive cover stories so that bear wouldnt find out.

and what must that be like for tim? for his former friend to refuse to interact with him. to walk into the modeling shoot during the day and have frosty glares thrown at him, only to swing by bear's apt at night and bear's waiting on the balcony, arms wide open, smile bright on his face.

do you think they talk about themselves at night? about their fears and worries? do you tim learns how to talk bear down from a panic attack? do you think bear learns that if he cards his fingers through robin's hair ever so gently, he learns that robin's spine will untense and robin's shoulder's will drop?

and when tim's castle of lies finally starts crumbling, how bad do you think the fallout is? do you think bear, despite his best efforts to not figure out who robin is, maybe catches sight of a scar on robin's back? do you think maybe bear's been thinking about moving on with tim? of letting go of his resentment? of forgiving and moving on?

maybe he sees the same scar on on tim's back at the shoot one day? maybe the pieces start falling into place? they try a superhero theme one day. tim looks exactly like robin with the domino mask on.

tim looks up to see bernard's betrayed stare, and he knows that anything they could've had is over.
