I was surprised to find that there is in fact a Hungarian translation. ART is translated to KÖX which I hate. It's short for "Köcsög Kutató Szállító" which indeed means something along the lines of Asshole Research Transport, however
It's not an acronym, instead it's just Köcsög + ksz being turned into X bc Hungarian doesn't Have X in the alphabet but it's pronounced ksz when it does get in there somehow
It also just? sucks?? It's clunky, it's not at all a believable nickname, it just Feels Bad. "Kutató Szállító" is also clunky as hell and I hate it, like it Technically means Research Transport however it's more like Researcher Transporter and the repeated suffix just feels Wrong
The Murderbot Diaries are finally being translated into my first language (Finnish) and I was super curious to see how ART’s name was going to be handled. So, I finally read Artificial Condition, and its name is Aivan Raivostuttava Tutkimuspaatti which translates to an Extremely Annoying Research-boat !
And it got me wondering how other translations have approached ART’s name. Has there been an effort to preserve the letters A, R and T or has ART been given a completely new acronym? Or has the original English name been kept?
Please let me know!!
#chatter tag#murderbot#köcsög also just feels really juvenile to me but that might just be me#i wouldve personally gone with segg/seggfej#köcsög literally means jug but functionally is like asshole. segg is literally ass. seggfej is asshead#which is the closest analogy to asshole tbh#but also none of the book titles or the series title work well in hungarian either. i do not like#they couldve also done like. NIK???#nagyon idegesítő kutatóhajó = very annoying research ship#as a random idea that took me ten minutes

Verse: kind of an original, non-specific magical verse, can tie in with Marvel, Supernatural-themed fandoms & the Rick Riordan series Date: started 02/23/2018; finished 03/04/2018 Full Name: Dalton Howze Jaynes Pronunciation: doll-tun howz jayns Nickname/Alias: Dalt, D Meaning: Dalton = “valley town”, Howze = named after a famous General Origin: Dalton is just a name I really like and fit his concept, and Howze I came up with after figuring out he was from a military family & I looked up some famous Generals Title: none Pet Name: Whiz Kid, Nerd, Army Brat ID Number: uhhh none really. I guess his employee #? 539842 there. made up on the spot. Signature: kinda messy & illegible ( below is a close-ish match, but his is even more of a chicken scratch )
Gender: Cismale Gender Role: He’s pretty masculine, but also rather on the quiet side & can exhibit feminine characteristics. Orientation: Gay gay gay Real Age: 26 Age Appearance: When he doesn’t shave, he can look up to 10 years older than he actually is. Birthday: Jan 29, 1992 Deathday: unknown Birthplace: Stuttgart, Germany Astrological Sign: Aquarius Zodiac Sign: Sheep Immediate Family: Perry, father, died when Dalton was 9 & Ruth, mother; sisters Elizabeth, 20, and Mary Alyx ( goes by Alyx ), 6 Distant Family: step-father Jack, isn’t really in contact with his grandparents on either side, particularly his dad’s side since they kinda ostracized him Parenting: Dalton’s mother was the strict one and instilled a strong sense of discipline in him. Perry was the artsy, kind of head-in-the-clouds one and he helped Dalton develop his own sense of identity. Upbringing: Self-discipline was very important, and the concept of hard work. Authority was strongly enforced and respecting that authority. He was given room to question it on a limited basis, but to also understand that there were time you need to follow orders and trust that your best interest is in mind. While Ruth was very dedicated to her military service and would have liked to see Dalton serve, it wasn’t something that Dalton felt forced into. Infancy: Ruth returned to service a month after he was born, so he largely bonded with his dad. But she wasn’t deployed at the time so she did still get to see him as a baby and care for him. He was walking and talking early on in life, and mostly ahead or on track with developmental milestones. Childhood: Dalton was an only child until he was 6, but he wasn’t spoiled. The spoiled one of the family would probably be Elizabeth since she was the youngest and the only girl for a long time. That being said, Dalton was the only one who really got to spend time with his dad since he passed away when he was 9. After his dad’s death he went from being a fairly outgoing and talkative child to quieter and more withdrawn. He didn’t connect with his mother super well since she was far more rigid and no-nonsense and he was always drawn to books and technology. Adolescence: As with much of his childhood, Dalton spend time in several different schools in several countries. He picked up little bits & pieces of language and culture from each and it taught him to be more respectful and tolerant. He could sometimes still be a moody teenager, secluding himself in his room to listen to music and chat online with friends he’d moved away from or friends across the world that he’d never met in person. He took an early interest in supernatural and the occult, which often ostracized him in school, but he took a certain pride in being “weird”. Adulthood: Dalton was accepted to a college in Boston and moved off the military base his mom was stationed at to attend school. He got a part time job at the campus bookstore & saved up to buy a car so he could visit nearby Salem for his own curiosity. Admittedly, it wasn’t quite what he expected, but it did inspire him to keep researching witchcraft and the history of such. Coming of Age: Dalton probably “grew up” when he decided to quit school despite his mother’s protests. It just wasn’t necessary for him to keep shelling out money when he could ( and DID ) acquire a job he wanted without a full degree. He was happy at the company he worked for and the practical & on-hands job training was far more of interest to him than a formal education. Evolution: Dalton has always been more or less confident in himself, but with his dad’s death, he had to become more so. He also had to become more independent and decide whether to follow blindly in his mom’s footsteps or seek out something he was passionate about. Species: Human Ethnicity: Caucasian, with English, Hungarian, and Romanian ancestries being the most traceable Blood Type: O neg Preferred Hand: Right handed, with some limited ambidexterity Facial Type: it’s kind of a heart-oval blend? if that’s possible? i always sucked at face shapes Eye Color: Hazel ( a caramel brown with green flecks ) Hair Color: Dark mousy brown Hairstyle: Typically short on the sides with unruly curls on top Skin Tone: Pale & peachy mostly, with the faintest tinge of olive Complexion: Clear, but prone to oily spots & breakouts around his chin ( also from frequently resting his chin in his hands while on the computer & idly picking at his beard ) Makeup: nah, but he can be convinced to wear eyeliner Body Type: thin & toned, straddles between ectomorph & mesomorph Build: some muscle definition all over, mostly in upper torso Height: 5′11″ Weight: ~140lbs Cup Size: n/a Facial Hair: usually a scruffy/sparse goatee & soul patch, but sometimes he lets it grow into a more prominent beard Shoe Size: 9 Birthmarks/scars: a few small scars from cooking accidents & being a boy, but nothing major. he’s never broken a bone. Distinguishing Features: prob just his floofy hair and his upright posture, until he sits in front of a computer, then he loses all sense of posture lmao Health: He’s generally healthy, but does get colds pretty easily. It’s rarely serious enough for him to call into work. Energy: Dalton operates on a moderately low energy level, particularly if he’s been up late the previous night. He tends to remedy this with coffee & energy drinks. Memory: He’s got a good memory for things he’s engaged in and actively cares about, but can be forgetful with minor details like names of people he’s just met or place names. Languages stick pretty good in his head, too, but if he doesn’t use them regularly enough he loses them. Senses: Dalton has a weirdly keen sense of smell. His eyesight is getting worse and he’ll probably need glasses before too long to continue working on computers. Allergies: Coconut, plus some minor seasonal allergies he can treat with OTC meds Handicaps: none Medication: just over the counter stuff Phobias: Hospitals freak him out after his dad. Addictions: Caffeine, more towards energy drinks & hot tea, then coffee, but soda isn’t super common for him to drink Mental Disorders: nothing really Style: somewhere in the grungy-hipster vibe Mode of Dress: Very casual, shirts untucked unless it’s actually a formal event Grooming: Most of the time his grooming & hygiene is good, but on his weekends off he can get into slob mode. Posture: He walks with very straight posture, shoulders back, head up, and usually sits with good posture unless he’s gaming or getting deep into some computer project, then he turns into Slouchy McSloucher. Gait: He’s got a confident & smooth gait, on the masculine edge without being too swagger-y. Coordination: He’s got pretty decent coordination and played some sports here and there during school. He has a gym membership that he does use, if not always regularly. Habits and Mannerisms: He picks at his facial hair while thinking and twiddles pens when he’s feeling relaxed enough. When he’s being completely still it’s usually because he’s trying to be on his best behavior. Scent: He’s got a bit of that man funk, but also sometimes dust and electricity from working on computers. Coffee, energy drinks, also his sandalwood body soap. Mood: He’s usually pretty neutral and relaxed, but this can also come from being sleepy due to lack of proper sleep. Attitude: Politeness was instilled in him at a young age, so he typically “Yes, Sir/Ma’am” and “please” and “thank you”, but he’s usually positive in his interactions with others in general. Stability: Super stable, honestly. To the point sometimes where people have been like ‘How are you so chill, dude?’ Expressiveness: He stays on the quiet side and isn’t super expressive, but he’s not a robot either. When Happy: smiles a lot, hums and taps his fingers to a beat on a desk or on his thigh When Depressed: sleeps & binges on junk food When Angry: pulls out the really violent video games tbh or shoves his headphones in & cranks up the angry music Note: These are generalizations. Different situations will create different reactions. Current Residence: a small apartment in Boston in desperate need of a paint job & updated appliances, but it functions, even if he needs like 10 blankets in the winter. Community: People in Boston can be kinda rude tbh but they also stick to themselves, which is kinda how he prefers it. Family: Elizabeth, his oldest sister, is studying in Scotland, and his mom & step-dad live on base on the other side of the country at the moment with his young sister, Mary Alyx Friends: Surprisingly Dalton doesn’t really have any friends at work, so he has friends he keeps in touch with online. His closest “friend” in Boston is the guy at the bookstore he frequents. Enemies: He...doesn’t despise anyone? Maybe harbors some resentment for his dad’s doctor though. Bosses: The main dude at the company he works for is kind of an ass, but he’s nice enough to Dalton, just demanding when tech problems spring up. He’s also a perv tbh, so Dalton really doesn’t care for him. Thankfully they don’t have much interaction. Followers: Dalton’s pretty much his own guy. He doesn’t have subordinates at work, though there’s one other guy who works in the tech department. Heroes: Honestly, even though they didn’t always see eye-to-eye, his mom is his hero. She helps save lives, piloting Army rescue helicopters so. yeah. Also his dad, which will only increase as he learns about his heritage ( though there’s gonna be some resentment that Perry never told him about his side of the family & their abilities. ) Rivals: no one, really Relates to: He related to his dad more than his mom, having more of his creativity and sensitivity than his mom’s toughness and structure. Pets/Familiars: Dalton has a cat he adopted from the shelter that he named Chernobog. Unbeknownst to him, Chernobog is actually a familiar and influenced his choice to pick him. Chernobog is a black smoke tabby. Wardrobe: His closet is comprised of a lot of hoodies and jeans. He does own some heavy jackets because Boston winters can be brutal, and some odds and ends left over from when he was younger and living in other places. Equipment: his cell phone & his laptop are essential Accessories: He often wears a leather bracelet with a moon charm that used to belong to his dad. The charm was actually crafted over 100 years ago and imbued with a small bit of protection magic. Trinkets: see above Funds: eh, Dalton’s not rich by any means, but he makes about $15/hr so it could be a lot worse. Home: His apartment is a little run down and pretty small. The building itself is old, so there are some drafty windows and the big heaters can make some banging sounds that’ll freak you out if you’re not prepared for them. It’s sparsely decorated, with a cheap couch he picked up off a Facebook posting and none of it matching. Neighborhood: It’s kinda busy and noisy around his apartment, but there’s a bookstore within a couple blocks and a coffee shop not far from work so he can’t complain too much. Transportation: Dalton mostly utilizes public transport or he walks. He’s never really had the need or opportunity to learn how to drive. Sometimes he thinks about getting a moped for the convenience, but then he’s gotta pay for gas and insurance too. License Plate Number: n/a Collections: He has a collection of books, I guess. Mostly they’re on witchcraft or supernatural creatures, sometimes myths & legends from other countries. Most valuable possession: Definitely his laptop. It’s not top of the line, but it’s nothing to sneer at. He needs it to perform well for work ( & he does do some gaming, too ) so he’s got it maxed out on RAM, too. Prized Possession: an anthology of Hungarian folk tales gifted to him by his father Lovers: He’s had a few boyfriends here and there, but nothing currently. Marital Status: Single Sex Life: Not a virgin, but he’s pretty inexperienced ok. Right now it’s just him & his hand, but he’s not a very frequent masterbator. Type: idk...maybe Agapic Storge ?? Turn-Ons: Confidence, intense personalities, adventurousness Turn Offs: Extremely needy people, Poor hygiene Position: Usually sub Plays: Bondage, sensory deprivation, edgeplay, a bit of a humiliation/degradation kink, just the Dom/sub dynamic in general particularly where it comes to following orders, Sounding Fetishes: Uh I guess a fetish for feeling like he’s gonna be pushed too far?? idek if that’s a thing Virginity: He’s rather inexperienced. Most of the kinks listed above he’s only read about and some he doesn’t even know he’s into yet. Element: Air Occupation: Tech Support Agent Work Ethic: He’s been taught by his mother to always work hard. That’s generally the case, though everyone slacks here and there. He’s more likely to stay late to make sure a problem is solved than to leave it to the next day. Rank: His department is specialized and rather small since it’s a local business, so he’s important but not like a manager or anything. Income: roughly $15/hr Wealth Status: he’s still ‘working-class’ but considering he makes twice the minimum wage, he’s solid enough. Experience: He had a job at the campus bookstore, but that’s about it. Organizations/Affiliations: he’s...not really affiliated with anyone & he doesn’t belong to any organizations. IQ: above average, but still far below genius level Education: The most notable thing about his education is the multicultural nature of it. He’s studied in so many different places so he’s had many different sources of info. School: he didn’t really have just one to nail down Grade: Bs mostly, with some As and the rare C Special Education: He did well in school, but nothing super special. Social Stereotype: Nerd tbh Degrees: still a year shy of earning his degree in Computer Engineering Intelligence: prob a mix of Kinesthetic & Logical Extracurricular Activities: He belonged to a Computer Club briefly before he moved. Religion: vaguely agnostic? Morals: Harming others, harming animals for sure, those are bad things. He can tolerate white lies, but generally honesty is good even if he’s not always 100% honest either. ( Who is? ) Crime Record: he’s got a clean record Motivation: Self-discovery, probably, and seeking the stability he lacked growing up Priorities: Right now he’s not prioritizing things too well. He goes to work when he’s scheduled, so that’s got some priority, but housework isn’t high on his list so his apartment is usually pretty dirty. Philosophy: He’s really go with the flow. Political Party: Prob just on the edge of the Republican party, leaning more Conservative than Liberal? Etiquette: He’s got very good manners, but it’s not like he’s been to any fancy etiquette school. Culture: Nothing that’s particularly noticeable as far as identifying certain behaviors from one culture or another. But things may come up in RP as little tidbits and remnants from his time spent abroad. Influences: There’s still quite a bit of influence from his mother even if she lives quite a ways away. He wants to do her proud and he knows he’s not quite accomplishing that. Sometimes he wonders if his father wanted him to do more, too. As his powers develop, his familiar, Chernobog, will be a significant influence, helping to guide him through the dream world and show him how to answer questions he may have. Relates to: Dalton relates well with others who either were in the military themselves or had family members who were since he can commiserate with the bad & the good. Traditions: Dalton’s family usually celebrated Christmas, or tried to, but it was harder after Perry died because it was such a significant holiday to him. As a general rule Dalton gets a little moody around Thanksgiving & Christmas and hates the over-commercialization of it and how greedy it’s made people. He’d give up anything to have a Christmas with his dad again, even fifteen years after he’s died. Superstitions: Definitely throws salt over his shoulder if he spills any and he avoids walking under ladders. Main Goal: Discovering the source of his strange dreams & the strange occurrences, then harnessing the magic at their root. Minor Goals/Ambitions: Tracing his father’s lineage to learn more about his magic, finding more people like him with unusual abilities, finding love tbh Career: He’s actually happy where he’s at, but maybe coding his own systems & games eventually. Desires: His father to be alive, to feel closer to his family Wishlist: The newest tech, Junk food if that counts lol, various trinkets, books. always more books., a boyfriend tbh Accomplishments: He got a pretty great job considering he never finished his degree Greatest Achievement: He doesn’t feel like he has a big achievement other than getting his current job. Graduating high school, maybe. Going to college, even if he didn’t finish. Maybe eventually he’ll go back and be able to say he got his degree. Biggest Failure: Probably dropping out of college Secrets: Uh, his degradation kink tbh, and it’s pretty embarrassing for him to realize. Regrets: He doesn’t necessarily regret dropping out because it was the right thing for him at the time, but he regrets disappointing his mom. Worries: Making his bills, of course, but also if he’s doing enough to please his mother & honor his father’s memory Best Dream: Honestly, seeing his father again. And dreamwalking with him, learning about their whole family history of magic. Worst Nightmare: One time he dreamed about his mother’s funeral. He didn’t sleep for two days after. Best Memories: Winning a stuffed animal for his sister at the carnival, even though she ended up giving it to him. He still has it & it stays on his bed. Worst Memories: watching his dad get weaker & weaker in the hospital & eventually dying Hobbies/Interests: Computer gaming, playing pool Skills/Talents: He’s gifted with HTML & CSS coding and does some website design as a hobby. He’s also pretty great at identifying computer problems, that’s actually related to his magic. Likes: Vietnamese food, books on the supernatural/occult, learning about other cultures, cold pizza, snow, the historical Boston brownstones, food stands/trucks Dislikes: tbh he’s not crazy about cooking, really hot days, high humidity, pullover sweaters ( zipper hoodies are where it’s at ), Red Hot candies Sense of Humor: he’s got a bit of a dirty sense of humor but also puns & witty humor is nice. Pet Peeves: People being disgustingly fake nice, especially when they go & talk behind your back afterwords. Gossip in general. Superstitions/Beliefs: um, see above. He has a few small superstitions, but nothing major. Dreams/Nightmares: Lately he’s been dreaming about places he’s never been to in extreme detail, and when he goes to Google them, he’s discovering his dreams were 100% dead on. Quirks: Picks at his beard or his lip when he’s thinking, spritzes a bit of cologne in his hair every morning Savvy: He has a lot of info on various myths in a variety of cultures, particularly where magic is concerned. Computer coding, mostly with HTML/CSS, so web design things. Can't understand: Sports obsessions, tbh Closet Hobby: He likes to play darts. He has spurts of activity where he becomes a Pinterest board whore. Guilty Pleasure: ok on his days off sometimes he likes to catch the marathons of America’s Next Top Model or even Wife Swap and just watch them & eat junk food. He’s not proud of it and lord knows he has a full Netflix queue with better TV. Strengths: Even-keel, Objective, Respectful, Independent, Well-learned, Open-minded Flaws: Overly sensitive sometimes, Withdrawn to the point where he can alienate people without realizing it, worries too much about what his mom will think, Indecisive, Regimented, Locks powerful emotions away instead of dealing with them Perception: Deeply flawed, but fixable Conflicts: He wants his privacy & independence, but he also really wanted someone to share his space with. Instincts: Driven to problem-solve, to find the root of a problem and fix it. He can become frustrated if he encounters a problem that he CAN’T fix, or a problem without a clear solution or multiple solutions. Lures: Historical cities, literate people, people who are different & interesting Soft Spot: He’s a sucker for animals in bad plights. Cruel Streak: Bullies !!!! and just anyone hurting people he loves, even if they hurt them first Powers/Abilities: Ancestral magic tied to his paternal line, giving him the power of dreamwalking in particular among other abilities given exploration & training; also electrical/urban magic; has an affinity for animals that causes them to be drawn to him; ( when fully manifested ) capable of entering people's dreams and eventually altering them, can create nightmares as well; ( when fully manifested ) capable of easing someone into sleep or waking them up; Origin: His dreamwalking abilities are inherited through his paternal line, whereas his affinity for urban/electrical magic is more of a spontaneous occurance. Source: Dalton’s dream magic activates when he sleeps, whereas his urban magic is fueled by the technology & power lines around him. Ability: He’s just learning he has abilities at all, so he’s not very capable yet, but has the possibility to be very strong. Weaknesses: still growing into his magic so he doesn't know the full extent of his abilities, nor is he able to control them adequately Immunities: Electrical shock, so he can’t be electrocuted, but also a cardiac resuscitation device would not work on him Restrictions: Most of his restrictions come in how new his powers are to him and his lack of knowledge or training. Theoretically, with training he could grow by leaps & bounds, possibly with very, very few limits. But without a proper guide and without the time to grow into his powers, he may never achieve his full potential. Alternate Forms: none Extra Anatomy: lol he has a third nipple Favorite Colors: Teal Favorite Animals: Cat Favorite Mythological Creatures: Gryphons, or domovoi Favorite Places: in Boston, probably the Boston Public Garden & his fave coffee shop, but out of everywhere he’s been, he really enjoyed Portugal Favorite Landmarks: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Favorite Flavors: Hazelnut, though; Starfruit Favorite Foods: Vietnamese cuisine ( esp. Cơm gà rau thơm ), Gyros Favorite Drinks: Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew Kickstart, Mint tea Favorite Characters: Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy, Carl on The Walking Dead Favorite Genre: Fantasy / supernatural / disaster movies Favorite Books: The Shannara series Favorite Movies: The Day After Tomorrow, Office Space, The Princess Bride Favorite Games: he’s a fan of horror & survival games, so Evil Within, The Long Dark Favorite Shows: huge Walking Dead fan Favorite Music: varies day to day tbh, but drawn to Indie Rock prob Favorite Bands: Imagine Dragons Favorite Songs: Radioactive Favorite Sports: not really a sports guy, but soccer if anything; pool Favorite Stores: um, bookstores, but more mom & pop than the big Barnes & Nobles Favorite Subjects: History, particularly World History Favorite Numbers: 3 Favorite Websites: lol would it be a surprise to say he’s a Tumblr guy? but also icanhas.cheezburger.com bcuz lolcats are bae Favorite Words: Inconceivable Favorite Quotations: "Life finds a way.” Least Favorite Colors: Orange, pastels Least Favorite Animals: Fish Least Favorite Mythological Creatures: Demons Least Favorite Places: did not like Texas tbh Least Favorite Landmarks: a lot of crowded, overhyped national monuments tbh Least Favorite Flavors: sickeningly sweet things Least Favorite Foods: Game meats like deer, elk; Lamb Least Favorite Drinks: diet sodas, boba tea Least Favorite Characters: god the people at Terminus. he can even handle Negan over them. Least Favorite Genre: stupid comedy movies Least Favorite Books: some of the required reading like The Scarlet Letter Least Favorite Movies: anything with Will Ferrell tbh Least Favorite Games: Candy Crush, Angry Birds, just. a lot of the really popular, pointless mobile games Least Favorite Shows: a lot of the gossipy reality TV like Desperate Housewives or anything with the Kardashians Least Favorite Music: polka & screamo Least Favorite Bands: he doesn’t have any he really hates Least Favorite Songs: idek Least Favorite Sports: football Least Favorite Stores: Aeropostale, idk. Walmart. Least Favorite Subjects: Science, mostly Biology & Physics. He can get into Chemistry to a certain degree. Least Favorite Numbers: the whole controversy surrounding 666 annoys him Least Favorite Websites: Twitter, um...idk Least Favorite Words: Wednesday, purely because of the spelling being totally different from the pronunciation Least Favorite Quotations: he’s not crazy about cliches, though he does get nerdy about the etymology of certain idioms Languages: English, decently fluent in French ( reading / speaking ) & Romanian ( speaking ), bits & pieces of Spanish, Portugese & German Accent: It’s really varied and hard to nail down. Spending more time in Boston, he’s starting to pick up more of that Boston accent, but it’s not super consistent either. Voice: Higher-pitched but not so much so that he sounds “feminine” Speech Impediments: none Greetings and Farewells: He’s pretty informal, so it’s a lot of ‘Hey’ and ‘What’s up?’ and ‘How ya been?’ and ‘See ya later!’ but with figures of authority it’s more formal, with added titles and Sir/Ma’am. State of Mind: generally he’s in a state of ‘good’, like he’s here & he’s not doing horrible, but he’s also not super peppy & excited Compliment: tends to compliment people’s minds/personalities over physical appearance Insult: Just calls people dumb or assholes. Like, the worse thing you can be to him is deliberately ignorant or cruel. Expletive: oh god he knows a lot, in several different languages, too, and he does cuss frequently Laughter: It’s soft and deep, but very rarely he gets carried away and snorts. Tag Line: a lot of ‘uhs’ and ‘um’ and also he’s very big on ‘Yes Sir/Ma’am’ and saying ‘Please’ & ‘Thank you’ Signature Quote: ‘ Work hard, play hard. ’ idkkkkk Reputation: Most people Dalton has come across know he’s a military brat, so he has this reputation for being ‘exotic’ and disciplined. First Impressions: I’d wonder how he has everything so figured out and how he’s so level-headed. Probably think he was too quiet and a little strange. Stranger Impressions: Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone thought he was a stoner with how laidback he can be. Or that he’s just a big nerd, or he just stays in his room playing on the computer all day & gets no sunlight & just eats Cheetos. Friendly Impressions: They think he’s a little head-in-the-clouds sometimes, but a great listener and pretty chill. Enemy Impressions: (What do people who can't stand your character think? If you can't think of anyone who hates your character, we have a problem.) Familiar Impressions: They probably wonder how he can be so okay with everything when he’s had very little stability in his life. Compliments: great listener, chill, intelligent Insults: Nerd, geek, weirdo Self-Impression: Honestly he’s still figuring himself out, especially since he’s had so many influences throughout his life. He just knows he tries to be kind and tolerant. MBTI Personality Type: INFJ Temperament: Phlegmatic Enneagram: either The Helper or The Peacemaker Ego/Superego/Id: Ego, I think? The Self: Confident, Relaxed, Not particularly driven, Adventurous The Shadow: He does have a part of him that is super self-conscious, driven by pleasing others. Idk The Anima/Animus: He displays a deep sensitivity and compassion for others, which are often considered traditionally feminine characteristics. Persona/Mask: He’s often okay with being the mysterious new kid, or the quiet weird kid. Sometimes he can get lonely and feel ostracized, though. Role: He’s kind of a follower, but also emotional support. He’s the friend people come to for advice and companionship. Fulfillment: He’s kind of a quiet supporter, but gives advice when needed. Mostly he just tries to listen, since that seems to be what people want more than actual advice. Significance: In the grand scheme of things, maybe he doesn’t matter. But to a few people, he can matter a great deal. He’s a great friend before he’s anything else, and perhaps once he’s learned how to harness his abilities, he can help people further. Alignment: Neutral Good Comparison: (Compare your character to some kind of animal, object, or anything else you can think of.) Symbol: circuitry or other symbols relating to electronics, or a cloud or moon to represent his relation to dreams. also, a large cat about the size of a snow leopard but a deep smoky color like his cat, Chernobog ( actually his dream-guide form ) Song: i’m really bad at finding songs tbh so i’m opting out of this question. for now. i’ll find something suitable in time. Vice: Sloth Virtue: Humility Defining Moment: His dad’s death really defined him because it’s the biggest obstacle he’s faced in his life. His dad was someone who motivated him to pursuit his own interests rather than following in a sense of duty and losing him was very hard. Dalton misses him every day and wishes he could have one last meal with him. It proved he can be strong and internalize his own feelings to put on a good front for his family, even if it’s been detrimental for him in that he’s never fully dealt with that loss. Tropes: god idk...Soft Gay Nerd? Is that a trope? Quiet Gay? I guess the military brat who knows a bunch of languages & lowkey teaches ppl how to cuss in other languages in part to fit in Originality: I think his backstory is unique, and tying in familial magic with other random-born magic. He’s curious and yet also stagnant & content to remain so. One Word: Respectful Character Sheet © Character-Resource
#( get me right. all it takes is starry nights. | headcanons;; dalton. )#( holy fuck this took forever. )
