Literally just ignore this because the angst is so good, but they went back down on 3/16, interacted with the Tansu party 3/22, and with Toshiro and Kabru's parties 4/3. They defeated Thistle 4/12, and everything after then moved pretty quickly. So the whole ordeal was about one month, and Namari would have been able to confirm that Chilchuck was alive as of the first week after he was overdue, and Toshiro and Kabru would have confirmed he was still alive the week after. Not that they would have told his daughters, but it's emphasized that adventurers are a close-knit community and news travels fast. Then news travelled back that he was still alive once Thistle was defeated. Which means there would have been only one week where he was fully awol (which, incidentally, is also the week we see him being the most distressed about not getting back home).
learning that getting to the red dragon only took the party 8 days has made me completely reconsider how long regular dungeon jobs would take. And also made me realize that all in all since they were down there for several months(?) (and dungeon jobs apparently actually don’t generally take more than a week or so) means that Chilchucks family 100% thinks his ass died

Source: Delicious in Dungeon World Guide - The Adventurer's Bible
by Ryōko Kui
Link to the full Artbook
A young (middle-aged?) half-foot with very sharp senses. He can tell a structure's layout and its trap locations from the way sound echoes, and he serves as the lifeline during dungeon expeditions. He's neurotic and a consummate professional, and he doesn't like people horning in on his work. Since he knows several languages, he can interpret as well. He runs a half-foot guild and uses his influence to connect people with work, but apparently some half-foots don't like him much. He's sarcastic, sharp-tongued, and never loses a verbal fight, but he's also mature enough to apologize properly when he's erred. Who'd expect less from Mr. Chilchuck, age twenty-nine? As an aside he prefers beautiful blondes.
Laios and Chilchuck were introduced through Dandan, a half-foot who belonged to the guild. In terms of age, it happened just as he was starting to think about retiring from dungeon expeditions. However, Laios's group was bound for the dungeon's depths, and there were no other half-foots who seemed capable of getting there, so he decided to go with them. As an aside, the average half-foot lives to be fifty years old. In terms of modern-day humans, Chilchuck's about fifty, so it would have been a rather early retirement. After he stopped adventuring, he was planning to set up shop as a locksmith.
For a half-foot, Chilchuck is on the tall side. That means he's also a bit heavier, and that makes it easier for him to set off traps, so he's very careful to keep his weight under control. However, he's been eating well ever since Senshi took charge of the cooking, and he's currently beating his all-time high.
Chilchuck is a pretty heavy drinker. His father apparently died from drinking too much, but he thinks enjoying the things you like isn't a bad way to go. That being the case, he doesn't plan to cut back on his liquor intake, and he enjoyed the Golden Castle's local beer to his heart's content.
Chilchuck has a wife and three daughters, and all three are grown and out on their own. His wife is a childhood friend his own age; she's currently living with their second daughter. The scene at right is from Marcille's imagination; only Chilchuck knows what actually happened. That said, he's no longer suspected of cheating, and the women's (particularly Marcille's) opinion of him has improved, which is all for the better.
Half-foots have childlike features and are short, so most have a certain charm. Some use their looks as a weapon to curry favor with other races or commit crimes. Acting that way can bring short-term benefits but makes other half-foots look bad in the long run, so Chilchuck hates it.

Work first
Chilchuck and Dandan talk about his failed marriage
And Dandan is his brother-in-law because that is canon to me
Chilchuck sat at the bar at one of the taverns on the island. He was on his third mug of ale, holding his head as he stared into his half-empty cup. Dandan, who was his best friend and just also happened to be his brother-in-law, sat next to him. Dandan was the only family he still talked to. His daughters all moved out barely sent letters anymore. As for his wife, she left without a word around two years ago.
"There's nothing really for me to do anymore. All I do is work, I can't handle going home to a dark and empty house anymore." Chilchuck sighed, his shoulders slumped as he ran a hand through his hair.
"I would say retire but I can't see you not working." Dandan half-joked.
Chilchuck took another swing of his drink, groaning to himself, “Yeah, I’ve thought about it… I'm saving up, I'll retire from adventuring. But I still need to bring money in somehow. Thinking about a locksmith shop closer to the girls."
"Don't you still send them all money?" Dandan took a sip from his drink as well.
Chilchuck nodded, "yeah. A little bit each month. Just to give them something as they're starting out in life."
"And what about Bel...?" Dandan didn't look at him, hesitantly asking about his sister. Chilchuck didn't bring his wife up that much after she left. However, Dandan knew the no contact was killing him. From the letters he had been receiving from his sister, he could tell it was slowly killing her as well.
Chilchuck tensed at the mention of her name, “…No. Ever since she left, I’ve never heard anything from her. So I figured she wouldn't want me to send anything..."
Dandan sighed, "And you still haven't gone to see her? It's been two years."
"You think if she wanted me to see her she would've told me where she went. But no, I had to find out from Fler." Chilchuck scoffs, taking another drink.
When Bellana first left, she stayed with Dandan and his wife for a few days before moving in with Flertom. Dandan remembered offering his home to her. Remembering the night she came to talk, only to cry in his arms about no longer being happy. He remembered holding her. Taking her by the shoulders and telling her it was time for her to put herself first. No longer living for her children and husband, but for herself. Putting her own happiness first.
Dandan wouldn't lie, he had felt guilty watching how miserable Chilchuck had become after convincing his sister to leave. He kept reminding himself, he was her brother first, Chilchuck's best friend second.
"I see your point." He sighed, "But you're so miserable it's hard to watch. Whether you admit it or not, you're lonely."
Chilchuck didn't respond, just grumbled something to himself before chugging the rest of his drink, slamming the empty cup back on the counter. Dandan couldn't hide the sympathetic look that came across his face. Despite not being the most observant person, even he could see how much Chilchuck missed having his family when he returned from jobs. There was a reason he seemed to spend all his time at the guild instead of his own home nowadays.
"... what if you start dating again?" Dandan offered hesitantly.
Chilchuck nearly choked on air, "What-?!" He looked over at him.
"Well, If you're so sure it's over. And refuse to go talk to her, why not get back out there? You're still young enough."
Chilchuck looked at his in-law like he was crazy. "Hell no."
Dandan rolled his eyes as he turned back to his own drink, "of course. You still probably avoid your eyes when you walk past the brothel stand in the dungeon, huh?"
Red bloomed over Chilchuck's cheeks that traveled to his ears as he scoffed and looked away.
"Wh- no! I don't.. well that's because-" he fumbled over his words.
It was true, he had been doing that since he came to the island. When he was younger and newly married he felt incredibly guilty that the pretty blonde women would catch his eyes as his wife was home nursing his two young daughters. Because of this, he started to shield his eyes as he walked by. Soon it became a habit, and he hasn't stopped since. Even after she left, he couldn't help it. It still felt wrong. Although he couldn't deny their appeal was getting to him as of recently. Sexual frustration no doubt adding to his permanent bad mood.
"It's just..." his voice softer this time. "What if she comes back...?"
Dandan seemed surprised, "you think she will?"
"I don't know... part of me hopes she does, but another part of me is still so.. angry with her."
Another reason that he didn't admit out loud as to why he didn't go after her was because of his pride and anger. Going after her first could possibly prove whatever she was testing. Losing whatever stupid game she was possibly playing. This was completely ridiculous, of course. However, his anger and pride blinded him from logic.
"What if she's waiting for you to come to her first?"
Although Dandan was keeping in good contact with his sister. The truth was, he himself had no idea what his sister wanted. Whether she never wanted to see Chilchuck again, just wanted a break- that was now stretching out way too long, wanted to come back, for Chilchuck to come to her, or some other option, he had no idea. All she talked about in her letters was her girls and asking how his wife and new baby were.
"And what if she's not, and I just end up making a fool of myself?"
"...Fair enough."
It was silent between the two men for a moment before Chilchuck spoke up again.
"Even if there was a real divorce, we sat down agreed and went our separate ways forever. I doubt I'd ever move on."
Dandan turned to him again to show he was listening. While Chilchuck stared down his empty cup. The alcohol in his system making him more open than usual.
"We've been together since we were kids. She was my first everything, the mother of my children, she's- she was, my best friend."
He clutched his hands together to stop them from shaking.
"Besides, who says I wouldn't fuck up a new relationship too?"
Dandan didn't respond. How was he supposed to? That Chilchuck was wrong and just being insecure? That wouldn't help anyone, especially since his concerns were valid.
"Either way, I'm focusing on my retirement. Save enough money, and open the locksmith shop. That way I can quit the dungeon work but I can still support my girls if they need it. And they all have something when I die."
Dandan nodded, "Why don't you try to talk to them more if they're your main motivation?"
Chilchuck looked guilty, he had been meaning to write to them. Every time he picked up a pen he never knew what to say. Just stared at the empty piece of paper until he eventually put the pen down. Part of him felt like they didn't want to hear from him. The last thing he wanted was to bother them. He barely kept in touch with his own mother when he moved away from his hometown, it would be hypocritical to expect them to keep in touch with him.
"I-I will.. just- they're not little girls anymore, y'know? Work first. Then I can travel and actually see what they're up to instead of just sending pointless letters." Chilchuck nodded firmly. As if he was trying to convince himself more than Dandan.
Dandan sighed deeply, his whole body slumping into the stole as he brushed his dark curls with his fingers. He was getting nowhere with him. Frankly he didn't feel like trying anymore. Especially now that he had his own wife and child to think about.
"Alright man, whatever works for you."

I don't think about the far future of DDMG (as in the stuff that happens after the main story is concluded) much compared to the rest of the au. Part of it is I want to see how these characters grow and change, so how their story end feels organic and earned, and if my ideas are set in stone there might not be enough wiggle room for that to happen.
I have an idea of what jobs the Turtles will have. Leo becomes a park ranger, Raph works in turtle conservation, Donnie is a scientist and has a lot of projects he's working on at once, and Mikey goes into animation and makes his own comics. April gets into investigative journalism, and Casey runs a mechanic shop + is April's cameraman.
I've got vague ideas of their relationships and if they have kids:
Leo adopts two girls, Lita and Yumi. He adopts Lita first, but Yumi is older. I don't know if he's dating anyone, or who that'd be, and the answer often changes. DDMG's Usagi is the main contender right now, who I think is related to Miyamoto but I've not figured out how exactly.
Raph adopts Chompy after Tokka dies in a work accident - they were on a boat, and they got hit by a bad storm. Chompy was very young when it happened, and Raph makes sure that Chompy remembers his mama loved him. Raph also marries Mona, but I flip flop between them dating as teenagers, or meeting after Raph adopts Chompy. They go on to have more kids, and Chompy loves being a big brother.
Donnie I don't know right now, so I'm going to see how his relationships with other characters develops. May end up with April and Casey, someone else entirely, or with no one at all.
Kinda like the idea of Mikey dating Woody and Renet. Don't know if those two are also dating, or if they're friends who are both dating Mikey. For a while, I didn't think Mikey would have kids, mostly cause I imagine him enjoying being the fun uncle, but I recently remembered the TMNT short set in the future (think it was called Teenge Mecha Ninja Turtles or something?) and the kids in that. Mikey essentially pulls a Splinter and accidentally adopts four kids. After he's done panicking, which is in no small part due to an emegency phone call to rat dad who calms him down, his brothers lightly tease him for it ("How do you 'accidently' adopt four kids?" "Shut up Leo.")
Bonus:
April and Casey have Shadow, who is a ball of energy. Her and Chompy are about the same age, and get into a lot of mischief together. She has her uncles, grandpa Kirby and grandfather Splinter wrapped around her little finger.
Robyn, Casey's little sister, becomes a vet and takes over from Socorro when their grandmother eventually retired. Has a son with an ex-boyfriend, and eventually dates her roommate, Ananda.
I've not figured out what happens with Venus yet, but she takes over Tseng's monster themed tourist trap/ tea shop.
Miwa and Shinigami had twins: Izumi and Yoshi. A few years later, they have another child, Hana. Miwa is a locksmith and runs a dojo with her brothers + extended family.

The importance of panic bars in commercial properties
he invention and use of panic bars allow business customers and visitors a safer way to leave a building, store or sporting event. Business owners here in West Allis, WI and elsewhere can take advantage of the enhanced safety and convenience that panic bars offer. These nifty spring-loaded bars are proven to cut down on accidents, trampling, injuries and deaths while allowing foot traffic to leave an area easily without having to face incoming pedestrians or even having to unlock the door in the first place. Fewer accidents and added safety also translate into lower insurance premiums and fewer claims to be filed. Our West Allis Locksmith technicians offer panic bar repair, new installation and service for all area firms interested in having them. If you own or manage a business with staff, vendors or customers, we encourage you to find out more about these useful mechanical wonders.
Panic bars are what?
Panic bars also go by other names; push bars, exit bars, crash bars and panic devices to name a few. All mean the same thing. These metal, spring-loaded bars are mounted on back doors leading to outside the building or to outside of a store still inside a building like in the case of shopping malls. To use them is simple; just lean on them. This action alone is enough to unlock the door and open it, all at the same time. There is no time wasted in unlocking the door with a key, turning a knob and them physically opening the door in order to get out. Also, panic bar traffic is almost always one-way. The foot traffic is exiting and not entering. There is no door knob or lock on the other side of the door. Folks exiting don’t have to struggle against incoming walkers; that would considerably slow things down. One or several people can exit a door at the same time. Even if the door closes and temporarily locks, the next person coming along simply leans on the panic bar and it unlocks and opens all over again!
Why the hurry?
You may be wondering, why the hurry to get out? Actually, there’s no hurry, but if there is, as in the case of a fire, person with a gun or other problem, it’s nice to be able to leave the premises in a fast and orderly manner. In every day events, panic bars add to ease of use and convenience but during a public crisis, panic bars can save lives and prevent trampling, stampeding, and of course, panic!
They are so useful, they are everywhere!
Panic bars are often seen and often misunderstood. Many folks think that they are just commercial push bars that come with a business building. Many times, they are, as local building code enforcement and fire departments often require panic bars on new and old construction. Many insurance companies require them too as they cut down on accidents, deaths, injuries and claims filed. You can see panic bars most everywhere; shopping malls, schools, convenience stores, movie theaters, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, timeshare condos, restaurants, gas stations, public buildings, warehouses, retail shops, fast food outlets, auto repair, museums, universities, medical clinics, retirement homes, grocery stores and thousands more! Now that you know more about panic bars, we bet you’ll start seeing them most everywhere you go. Remember; there’s a reason for that – they work!
Where to buy your panic bars
You can buy panic bars most everywhere; online, hardware stores, building contractors, home improvement centers and even on E-Bay! Many commercial centers have a contractor that they use for their additions, upgrades and improvements. You can buy and install yourself or you can hire someone to do the work for you. If you have questions and you probably will, a hardware or home improvement store might not be the best source for answers. Their floor sales help is usually minimum wage or commission only and have little in the way of product knowledge or tips for installation and/or service. You can do online research first to familiarize yourself with panic bars, their sizes and their many uses and attributes. If you are working with a full-service commercial locksmith in your town, feel free to call with questions and to get free price quotes. In fact, we recommend using a locksmith whenever possible. The advantages are many. Not only does your local commercial locksmith deal with panic bars on a regular basis, be he or she will also be a good source for hardware, accessories, and other materials that can amplify your panic bar’s performance. Plus, locksmiths are mobile and the best shops offer 24-hour emergency service in case of problems. A good locksmith will have the ability to physically visit your building and consider layout, floor plans, work areas, visitor and staff areas and exits. Proper panic bar placement and correct model selection are important and you won’t learn any of that from a teenager working at Sears on commission.
As a business, you can deduct many expenses on your tax returns and panic bars are considered an improvement and a permanent fixture to your building thus improving its value at the same time. See your tax professional for more information on this but do remember that you are making positive changes to your company and to its physical location.

His name was Henry Summers – but who was he? – BBC News
Tumblr media
Image caption Harry (on the left) with workmates at George Brown & Sons
When I heard the story of an elderly man who had lain undiscovered in his flat for three years I wanted to know more about who he was.
It began with an urban horror story.
In June 2015 police in Edinburgh were called by a GP because an elderly patient named Henry Summers had not been seen for several years.
The police went to Henry’s address in Leith, one of the most densely populated areas in Scotland.
Tumblr media
Image caption Henry lived in a top-floor flat in Leith
They went to the door of his top-floor flat on Easter Road and knocked but got no answer.
The police called a locksmith but he couldn’t open the door because the hinges had fused as it hadn’t been opened for years.
When the police knocked the door down they found a mountain of mail in the hall and Henry Summers was inside, dead.
He had been dead for three years, undiscovered, because all of his bills were paid by direct debit.
Tumblr media
Image caption Police beat down the door to gain entry to Henry’s flat
A few years before that a woman had been found dead in Edinburgh, undiscovered for five years.
The media were full of recrimination and finger pointing.
I used to work with old people and had seen this before. It’s easy to de-personalise older people.
We talk about parents and pensioners as if they are conversation-starters about social issues.
But the way someone dies isn’t a summary of their whole life.
Who was Henry Summers?
A year after his body was found, I wanted to find out who Henry Summers had been during his 80-something years of life.
My detective work was for a BBC Radio Scotland documentary and it began with the reports of the incident in the local papers.
Journalist John Connell had interviewed neighbours at the time the body was discovered.
Tumblr media
Image caption Denise Mina started her investigations at the home where Henry was found
They told him they had last seen Mr Summers three years earlier in 2012.
They saw him being stretchered out of his house into an ambulance.
He was wearing an oxygen mask and looked very grey.
The neighbours didn’t know that Henry had been discharged and returned to his home.
Tumblr media
Image caption The nameplate on Henry’s front door
Later, one of the neighbours knocked on the door. He opened Henry’s letterbox and smelled what he assumed was food going bad.
They said Henry kept himself to himself but was very dapper, always wore a blue jacket and a flat cap and he used to whistle as he was coming up the stairs.
Then a twist: a man came forward and said that the man found dead in the flat in Easter Road could not possibly be Henry Summers.
Henry Summers of Easter Road was his father and had died and been cremated in 2012.
‘Unfathomable coincidence’
My Henry was 10 years younger than the man’s father.
This meant that two men with the exact same name had lived in the same street and died in the same year.
It sounds like an unfathomable coincidence – but it wasn’t.
Later, once we knew who Henry was, it would make perfect sense.
Tumblr media
Image caption Henry lived at 300 Easter Road in Leith
I went to Easter Road and asked in the local caf, the pub, newsagents.
The police wouldn’t release a photo of Henry so it was difficult to know if they were remembering our Henry.
Some people thought they’d seen him but he was variously reported as being in his 60s and his 90s.
Some said he stood at the bus stop every morning, caught the number 35 and then came back on it in the afternoon.
He bought milk and newspapers every day too but the shopkeepers had changed in the three years since he was last seen. He was a difficult man to find.
Funeral paid for
I had assumed that Henry had been forgotten and would have been buried by the city council.
Public health funerals often happen when a person has died alone and impoverished.
I was completely wrong.
In fact, Henry’s funeral had been organised and paid for and an obituary had been printed in the paper.
Tumblr media
I wrote, via the crematorium, to the person who paid for the funeral but they wanted to remain anonymous.
I also assumed that Henry’s flat was rented, perhaps the landlord would know him, but Henry owned his flat outright.
He had bought it in 1970 and paid his mortgage off completely in just four years.
It was 1,500. Where on earth did he get that money from? Was he from a rich family?
I was stuck so I went on BBC Radio Scotland’s Kaye Adams programme to ask for information.
Left intestate
The documentary team were contacted on Facebook by people who thought they had seen a man matching his description in the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre.
He was there regularly, reading the paper, quite content, they said.
The number 35 stops there so it seemed credible.
In the meantime, I tried to trace the person who inherited Henry’s flat.
In Scotland, any property left intestate is dealt with by the National Ultimus Haeres Unit.
National Ultimus Haeres Unit
DEATHS REPORTED 01 JULY 2015
SUMMERS, Henry, d.o.b: 16/03/1929: place of birth: Leith, who resided at Flat 3F3, 300 Easter Road, Edinburgh , EH6 8JT and who died at Flat 3F3, 300 Easter Road, Edinburgh , EH6 8JT, on 24/06/2015. NUHU/113/15 – POSSIBLE RELATIVES TRACED
They list unclaimed property online so that any claims can be filed.
Henry’s flat had been claimed but they couldn’t tell us who the beneficiary was.
I contacted expert genealogist Dr Bruce Durie and using the Land Register and the census he solved the mystery of the two Henrys.
Our Henry was born in 1929 and had lived and worked in Leith all of his life.
He was an only child and lived with his parents, nursing his fragile mum until her death.
After that he moved from a flat in Thorntree Street just round the corner to the flat in Easter Road.
Tumblr media
Image caption Henry was said to have taken the 35 bus from his home to Ocean Terminal in Leith
Here was the answer: Henry’s dad, one of nine children, was brought up at several addresses in Couper Street, Leith.
This street was populated almost entirely by households by the name of Summers.
Most of those families, probably relations, had children named Henry.
The name ‘Henry Summers’ was as much a part of Leith as rope and drink.
Demographics changed
The only reason I didn’t know that was that Leith has changed so much over the past 40 years.
It is gentrified now, the docks have shut, the demographics changed and the vast Summers family have mostly left.
My Henry was a ships’ carpenter, according to his death certificate.
This was an extremely skilled job with a long apprenticeship. Henry’s family were labourers, so he had done well for himself.
They must have been very proud of him.
The mystery of the mortgage remained.
Maritime historian Dr Eric Graham speculated that Henry might have been a whaler or worked long haul.
Those ships would go around the world for months at a time and ships’ carpenters could be paid a lump sum at the end of the voyage.
His name was Harry
It was all guesswork but then our original radio programme was broadcast and suddenly Henry came alive again.
His old pals heard it and contacted us, or the newspapers carrying stories about him.
He wasn’t even known as Henry, everyone called him Harry.
Harry, it turned out, was a great laugh.
He was a Hibs fan, a brilliant carpenter and an angler.
His old gaffer told us Harry was plagued by a mysteriously intermittent case of lumbago, which only ever flared up when he couldn’t be bothered doing a particular job.
His work pal, Andy, contacted us.

They worked together at George Brown’s in Leith all the way through the 1970s.
Andy saw the obit in the paper and went to Harry’s funeral.
He said Harry was a gent.
In the 1940s and 1950s, when Harry first started work, men in the high trades would wear a shirt and tie underneath their overalls. Harry still did this in the mid-90s.
Tumblr media

Image caption Henry worked at George Brown and Sons in Leith
We heard that Harry was a good guy who didn’t like sexist jokes, which was unusual in the docks in the 70s.
Another old work pal, Robert, remembered that Harry would pop in to see the guys after he retired to regale them with his latest adventures.
Harry was a confirmed bachelor, an only son and came across as bit of a mummy’s boy, in a really nice way.
He was teetotaller when Robert knew him but their gaffer, Fred, told stories about Harry’s wilder days when they would all laugh and Harry would laugh along with them.
Fred was a whaler and Robert never heard them speaking about whaling together, so he thought Harry probably hadn’t done that. He didn’t think he had ever been abroad.
Tumblr media
Image copyright George Brown & Sons
Assistant manager at George Brown and Sons, Steve McIntosh, knew him well.
Harry had retired in the late 90s and loved river fishing for trout.
He was off every weekend to the Tweed and Dalkeith.
Harry didn’t like drydocking the boats in winter or the rain, Steve said.
If Harry knew a boat was coming in and the weather was rotten, he’d call in sick with lumbago, an unusual condition for someone as active as Harry.
Very unusual in avid river fishermen.
Extraordinarily skilled
Steve said they wouldn’t tell Harry the boat was coming in but Harry would have his revenge: if he knew they’d tricked him he’d call in sick the next day.
Despite this Harry was worth keeping on because he was so good at his job, extraordinarily skilled and meticulous.
It emerged that as well as the shipyard, he had been part of a team who “re-roped” the stage sets at the Churchill and Playhouse theatres in Edinburgh.
When Harry retired he used his bus pass to go anywhere – Galashiels, Berwick, Kirkcaldy.
The last time Robert saw Harry was in the St James shopping centre in Edinburgh city centre.
He was fit and active going for a bus. Robert asked him where he was going and Harry said he didn’t know.
Tumblr media
Image caption Harry in the back row of Rona’s exercise class (wearing a red T-shirt)
He was going to jump on any bus and that would be his destination for the day.
Harry’s physiotherapist got in touch.
Rona ran an exercise group for people with heart conditions and Harry always stood at the back with the other guys.
They all started at the same time.
The group would go for an annual day out at the Botanic Gardens and she also remembers Harry at their Christmas Ceilidh.
Tumblr media
Image caption Henry (back left) on a trip to the Botanics with Rona’s fitness club
When he stopped coming they were worried about him but Rona bumped into him and he explained he was having trouble with sore feet.
He never returned to the class but was spotted out and about, on the bus and at the bookies.
At the physio class Harry and another man would swap stories about the bookies, how lucky or unlucky they had been.
The mystery of the mortgage remained until we heard this. Harry was a gambler.
Maybe Harry just got lucky.
His Name was Henry will be broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland at 13:30 on Wednesday and will be available on the iplayer.

Andy saw the obit in the paper and went to Harry’s funeral.
He said Harry was a gent.
In the 1940s and 1950s, when Harry first started work, men in the high trades would wear a shirt and tie underneath their overalls. Harry still did this in the mid-90s.

They went to the door of his top-floor flat on Easter Road and knocked but got no answer.
The police called a locksmith but he couldn’t open the door because the hinges had fused as it hadn’t been opened for years.
When the police knocked the door down they found a mountain of mail in the hall and Henry Summers was inside, dead.
He had been dead for three years, undiscovered, because all of his bills were paid by direct debit.
