The air in the paddock was filled with excitement as the news spread like wildfire. Charles and his girlfriend Y/N were expecting their first baby! For such a close community of drivers, this was more than just another announcement; It was cause for celebration.

Charles and Y/N had been together for years, and their relationship was known among drivers and their families. Y/N wasn't just Charles' girlfriend; She was a close friend to many in the paddock, and had been there through the ups and downs of the racing world as she had met Charles during his early days in racing, therefore, she also grew up with the other drivers such as max, pierre, alex or george.

When the news broke, congratulations came from all corners. Max, was one of the first to extend his best wishes to Charles. “Congratulations, mate! I can't wait to see the little leclerc at the races!" he exclaimed, clapping Charles on the back.

Lewis showed a wide smile as he approached the couple and hugged them emotionally. "This is incredible news, Charles! Parenthood is a completely new adventure. Y/N, you are going to be an incredible mother, I am so happy for you both and I wish you the best in this new era."

Even the older ones like Sebastian and Fernando couldn't contain their excitement. They offered their congratulations and exclaimed their best wishes to the couple.

But it wasn't just the drivers who were excited. The fans also exploded with joy. Social media was flooded with messages of congratulations and emotion. #BabyLeclerc soon trended around the world as fans awaited the new addition to their favorite driver's life.

The fans loved seeing Y/N in the paddock wearing her incredible outfits and her belly that was growing bigger and bigger. Motherhood suited her wonderfully and they loved seeing when Charles was attentive to everything at her side.

As the season progressed, the anticipation only grew. Each race became a countdown to the arrival of Charles and Y/N's baby. The fans didn't miss any opportunity every time Charles or Y/N approached, they gave them gifts for the future baby, such as little Ferrari suits, shoes or even drawings and they accepted them with huge smiles.

Finally the time came. In the middle of the season Charles and Y/N welcomed their baby girl into the world. Most people suspected it when in the beginning of a race, they saw Charles running as if his life depended on it towards the exit. The paddock erupted in cheers as news of the newest member of the leclerc family spread. From teams to passionate fans, everyone celebrated the happy occasion.

For Charles and Y/N, it was a moment of pure happiness. And as they cradled their newborn in their arms, surrounded by love and support, they knew their journey to parenthood was just beginning, with all the people they loved around them.

Many drivers - and in fact the GPDA - were vehemently pro-halo, thank goodness!

Seb, for instance, who was one of the two GPDA driver reps for a freaking decade, spent years convincing the other drivers and the sport as a whole, and LOUDLY campaigned for it for literal years, and kept pushing the FIA to hurry the fuck up and introduce it.

Ironically one of the drivers he had to drag kicking and screaming was someone who became his GPDA co-director for a time , who hated the idea of the halo... Romain Grosjean. But eventually Grosjean was in the minority.

Jenson Button - who was also one of Seb's GPDA co-directors for a time - Nico Rosberg, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, and many other drivers were also loudly pro-halo for years. Lewis initially wasn't, but became convinced by a presentation from the FIA for the GPDA, that showed how much the halo would improve safety.

In fact, most drivers became convinced! Some still didn't like it, and some opinions fluctuated over time (especially as new drivers came in), but the overall majority were for it.

The GPDA actually started demanding better head protection in 2015:

In 2016, the GPDA sent a letter loudly supporting the halo:

You know who initially blocked it? BERNIE fucking ECCLESTONE, the absolute ghoul, and the 'F1 Strategy Group', who ignored the drivers' demands.

The GPDA was mad.

(Seb was also ringleader of a mutiny against Bernie in 2016, lol ❤️)

And they kept pushing, pushing, pushing for F1 to implement the freaking halo and listen to drivers' demands for safety. They encouraged the FIA to run around the strategy group and force it through on safety grounds. Which the FIA eventually did, bringing the halo in in 2018, after the majority of drivers - especially the GPDA, especially Sebastian Vettel and Alex Wurz - had been pushing for it for years.

Here's some fascinating further reading... look, I got really into the Seb-era history of the GPDA for a while:

Discusses the origin of the current era of the GPDA, with Seb approaching and recruiting Alex Wurz to come make the GPDA stronger, and to fight for more safety (warning: discusses the death of Jules Bianchi, though Seb was trying to recruit Alex just prior to that)

Something important to keep in mind: we aren't seeing everything they're doing.

That 2016 letter? It wasn't addressed to the public. It was addressed "Dear Jean" and "Dear Charlie".

Or in 2021, the weekend that Abbie Eaton was injured, when Seb threatened that the drivers *would not race* at COTA unless the sausage kerbs were removed? We didn't even KNOW about that until Abbie Eaton told us!

We aren't seeing all their fights, and all their strategy. I'm choosing to be hopeful.

Charles and Y/N were in bed watching some netflix documentary. It was a Saturday morning, the couple didn't have any plans so they decided to stay in bed for an extra hour. Ruby was in her room playing with her dolls, but as time went on, she walked into her parent's room, still in her pajamas, and told them she had gotten bored of her barbies.

As Charles was about to ask Ruby what she wanted for breakfast, Y/N's phone started to ring. Charles quickly made his way back to the shared bedroom. He looked at the phone screen and saw that his brother Arthur was the one calling. He answered the call.

"Hey, good morning-"

"Get your phone! Ruby is on Instagram live!" Arthur said.

"What?"

"She's live, Charles!"

Charles quickly ran to the living room to find Ruby showing the camera a framed photo of Charles and Y/N's wedding. "Ruby, give me the phone!" Charles raised his voice, making Y/N come out of her office wondering what was going on.

"I was showing the pretty picture!"

Y/N ran to Ruby and saw that she was showing the viewers her wedding picture. "Baby, give papa his phone back."

"Okay. The game was boring." Ruby handed Charles his phone back and went to her playroom.

Charles quickly ended the live and put his phone on the coffee table. "She's never playing on my phone ever again."

"Who told you she was on Instagram?" Y/N asked.

Hey there! As always, I absolutely love that you are allowing so many people to view Rothko's incredible paintings, and appreciate the effort you put into it. But I have a question - do you have painters you'd recommend that also work with light and colour? Maybe other favourites of yours? Thank you!

You ask a complicated question as it's open to interpretation of the word "light". All color involves light but I think I get the meaning in the way it is applied to Rothko. I think very few people use light in that definition, but an awful lot of painters have great color sense.

Jules Olitski I think paints in a manner that is similar but simpler

Morris Louis had a great transparency in his work and great colors

and of course Helen Frankenthaler

Now Willem de Kooning is not thought of quite the same but he's the master of what we see now as ABEX so often and his colors are great

Rothko I think was moved by Fra Angelico when in Italy, there's some dispute because he called him the "Toughest" but I believe he meant it in a good way and comparatively with other painters of the era. his colors are wild and modern

Franz Kline is known for black and white but his color things are excellent

One of my favorite artists and colorists is Munch

The two artists who really influenced Rothko with color are Milton Avery. a friend and I would say a teacher. Rothko not only shares some color sense with Avery but his tonality on the surface is very similar.

and then here's the painting that Rothko spent all his time staring at when it came to MOMA , Which is Matisse "red studio" in a bath of venetian red that we know made an impression

Rothko said “When you looked at that painting,” he said, “you became that color, you became totally saturated with it.”

my cat simon was in my dream for the first time last night. i took him to the eras tour movie with me.. but very quickly realized that was a mistake. so my dad and i drove to drop him off at home but we ended up in this really flooded street and we were waterplaning and then i lost simon somehow and i thought i saw him in the field but it ended up being a cow (?) and eventually we found him and we ended up just dropping him at a friend's house, which was closer. which is good bc i was already missing so much of the movie *cries* like by the time we got back it was on the rep set
