I think I figured out why I always get stumped and freeze/hesitate to correct them when people misgender me by accident/out of ignorance. It's not because I think they'll be rude or angry; it's because I know they'll be awkward for a while after because they'll feel bad and that in turn makes me feel bad 😭
It takes so much energy to hype people back up into talking to me normally afterwards!! And there's nothing either of us can do about it except power through the awkwardness!!
So anyway help your fellows power through the awkward moment when you misgender them, apologize real quick, either repeat the sentence you said wrong properly and keep going or keep the conversation flowing and plug the right pronouns/adjectives in there to show you got it!
But most importantly don't avoid the person you misgendered by accident! Wave at them or smile the next time you cross their path! Act as usual even if it's a little awkward if the misgendering + correction was the last interaction you got! In my personal experience and that of a few trans friends I talked with about this, it seems like the best way to go to make things easier for everyone
