the general idea is exactly what it sounds like- clangen, but the leader swiftstar is in a timeloop.

his story started off as many other clangen blogs do, where three kittens start a new clan on their own. but something during swiftnettle’s leader ceremony somehow went… wrong. everytime swiftstar lost a life, time rewinded to the night he became leader.

at first everything was fine. he could undo his old mistakes! he could save his mate snowyslash from dying on the thunderpath, he could make sure shinyember’s kittens lived, his clanmates didnt have to live with the memory of his deaths…. it was all good!!

but then it just kept repeating. and repeating. and repeating.

snowyslash seemed doomed to die young. he and shinyember would always be at odds. any new recruit would still wind up dead before their time. and he had nothing to show for his efforts but the memory of death.

he shifted his goal to trying to break the loops. he hoped itd end after he lost his ninth life. somehow, it didnt. it just kept going. he tried to live to old age and pass naturally. didnt work. die on the first day! didnt work. run away and live as a kittypet! didnt. work.

he became apathetic to his clan, withdrawing from them. he feels detached from personhood having lived several lifetimes, never to progress into starclan, forced to watch everyone around him repeat their mistakes and die.

oh and his dead twin brother alderpaw is his starclan guide and they are very normal brothers very normal siblings who love each other past death and their relationship is so normal :)

btw would you believe me if i said in stars and time had zero bearing on this. ive had this idea since before i even played the game, swiftstars name is a delightful coincidence

once i have time i think im just gonna start posting random stuff related to my clangen timeloop story idea because tbh i do notttt have the bandwidth to make the concept work or create a comic. would wanna do a less ambitious clangen story if i wanted a shot at it (for my first rodeo, anyways)

It'll be great tho ur gonna get Hikaku, Fugaku, Shisui, Mikoto, just all the cool Uchiha. Lots of politics, lots of drama, the works

- That one oneshot where Madara and Tobirama spend a festival night in the capital together as children, and Madara develops his very first crush on the fox masked boy, but seems to be doomed never to meet him again— till Konoha's first festival is held and he sees a man wearing the very same mask, waiting for him in the crowds. Might not actually finish this one tbh but also maybe I'll save it for tbmd week?? Idk

- Hikaku as the Uchiha clan head after Madara's betrayal comic,,, not an actual fic but I wanna make this so bad. I've written notes for it I just need to get along to drawing it

- Izuna in Wonderland comic, honestly I'll probably end up doing the entire thing in one go one night when I get hit in the face w a brick w motivation. So it'll be a surprise for both u guys and me when I post that! I always do my comics in one go bc I physically can't bring myself to return to art projects if interrupted, which means I tend to do longer ones on my days off where I have literally nothing else to do or distract me, but I haven't had one of those in like. 2 months now. So. But I will soon!! Umm. Maybe.

- Here Before and After Me chapter 2, I'll probably make one eventually but who tf knows when. I have a very specific vision of Kakashi following Tobirama onto the battlefield and scaring the shit out of a very alarmed and confused Izuna

- Tobirama and Izuna's field trip through time and space, I don't think I want to commit to a full fic bc it'd be seriously long and I'm already commiting to Chasing Shadows and One Step Three Steps as my regular update long fics, then the MG Izuna au and Itama fic as my "write it all behind the scenes then post" long fics. I started watching Battle of the Writers.

1 l keep remembering the amazing wangxian cosplay the two lead actors did

2. I think the premise is actually great??? And not something you would expect based on the title. I am only on ep 3 but the main characters are all popular webnovelists, the top novelist makes friends with Ob-aum and Ozone (the two who haven't formally been friendly with him yet), and I think the whole premise of authors who discuss writing/whats popular/writing deadlines/fans and public perception is so interesting in how its done so far. Theres a scene where they play a game reading aloud snippets of novels and its an excellent chance to play with scenes within the context of "characters roleplaying." Shan the top novelist is giving me the impression of... unaging immortal or knows hes reincarnated, and remembers lover from a past life/time which was Ob-aum. They havent made any confirmations yet, but I think either Shan genuinely is an immortal a la wuxia now in the modern era (which gives me so many fanfic ideas as i wrote a onceshot xiyao mdzs fic once on that idea and love mdzs modern fics where those characters ARE still the same ones), or he transmigrated from a wuxia universe to ours. Or its something more mundane and idk fated, and they just share dreams, but even the fact an audience can wonder if shan used to know ob-aum is cool to contemplate! Shan is also very afraid of the dark (and i found his reaction somewhat relatable compared to panic attacks ive had) and said something bad happened. My guess is oh-aum first life died in the dark or shan in first wuxia life had some bad shit happen to him. Or the more mundane - and still solid - hes modern life traumatized for the same reasons any of us might be in modern life.

3. It kind of reminds me of Lovely Writer except I much prefer the execution of Battle of the Writers (LW is great! It just wasnt my cup of tea - i didnt like the intense level of sound effects, it was romcom and just a little too fluff executed for me, it just wasnt clicking w me, i loved the dive into what it might be like for an actual novelist and BL actor since i love stories like that which look at Their Own creators possible worlds - School Rumble did rhat with the lead guy, Nozaki Kun did that, a lot of my fave animes do that, a bl jdrama i cant remember the name of did a bl mangaka and the boy band guy he falls for and his fujioshi editor and i loved that show to pieces). Battle of the Writers still has that sort of pulpy romantic comedy bl feel, but the romantic moments music swelling and slow down almost reminds me more of a kdrama romantic drama? Definitely executes the romantic scenes like Word of Honor or Guardian almost, focus on the seriousness and intensity of attraction, of what the characters are thinking, and then the intense music/romantic shot after bouts of comedy comes off a bit more thai romcom because of the surrounding comedy. I enjoy that the tone goes from realistic-including depressing reality (loss of job, online people attacking, online or real stalkers), romance fantasy (the guy who likes ob-aum moving him in, following him for his number - and i LOVE that he said he was riding the bus too because its a way of making the Overly Romantic trope feel more like if a real person did it... and Shan asking for ALL online contacts which also feels realistically awkward and eager. Or Shan offering for Ob-aum to move in, and Ob-aum saying no i dont wanna impose and hanging up - realistically people turn down help even amazing offers out of wanting to do it themselves/fear theyre annoying so i liked that Ob-aum did the realistic thing, and the little talk about rent again adding realism to ground what would otherwise be a fully Exagerated sugar daddy type trope. Making Shan a bit awkward, intense, and have fears humanizes him and makes him an imperfect believable person instead of a perfect-fantasy-romantic option).

I gotta say, it was lovely to see Satoru reflecting on how much of a piece of shit he was to Y/N. I’m currently drinking a cup full of his tears 🤭

It’s incredibly frustrating that it took him seeing her with Toji, a man that’s treating her right and how she deserves for him to realize how badly he messed up. Seeing these little snippets of how he had done the things to Y/N with Naomi as they’re happening to him with Toji… IT DOESNT FEEL GOOD DOES IT SATORU.

We haven’t seen much of Naomi but her actually referring to herself as Mama when it came to Yui? WHEW. It was one thing for Yui to do it on her own but for Naomi to encourage it had me so annoyed 😭 Luckily Satoru nipped that in the bud. I’m trying really hard to not think poorly of her because maybe she’s just bad at understanding coparenting and Satoru has shown Naomi that he puts her above whatever Y/N wants/thinks so she’s used to that. At the same time I feel like it’s basic empathy to get both parents permission before doing huge things like that… IDK I flip flop between both. What I do know is that it’s Satoru’s responsibility as he’s the father and he needs to advocate for the mother of his child even if his girlfriend doesn’t like it. Also that little dig Toji made (accidentally) that made about disrespecting her parents made her leave 🤭 I got a kick out of that.

But now that Satoru has admitted he’s still in love with Y/N I think he needs to break up with her. It’s unfair of him to lead someone on like that when he’s in love with someone else. Even if he’s not going to try and get back with Y/N, it’s just a terrible thing to do to someone.

Toji and Megumi oh my god they’re so CUTE. I want so much happiness for them 😭 Yui and Megumi being thick as thieves UGH i’m so happy that they’re all happy and if they’re endgame I wish them all the love and happiness oh my god.

Throughout all this, is it bad that I kind of still want them (Satoru and Y/N) to end up together? I know they’re toxic, I know Toji is absolutely lovely but if Satoru works on himself and actively works for Y/N’s forgiveness I’d love to see them happy 😭 sometimes it does take seeing what you’ve missed out to put your ass into gear and fix what’s wrong.

I wonder who he called at the end, I think it’s either Toji or Naomi… and I wonder if either person would tell Y/N or Satoru about the call. Or just stay silent and pretend it didn’t happen to keep things as they are. AHHH THE DRAMA! There’s so much I wanna say but I can’t remember it all so I’ll leave it here!

The Annie thing pisses me off mainly because, they could've taken it out of the show and it wouldn't have made much of a difference. We know he kidnapped before, but we don't actually delve deep into it. It would've been great to maybe see flashbacks of the first time he kidnapped someone, and how he got to that point. Because that's not something you JUST DO out of nowhere.

Maybe they'll go deeper in S2, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

Poor Marky Mark 😔 I just wanna see my loverboy win. I really do lol But the show hates portraying Gabi as a fully rounded woman capable of wanting romantic love even in the face of massive grief, I guess. I like Mark. Lastly, I don't know why they made the confession scene silent. They were going for drama, but it just came off as annoying, because this was THE BIG SECRET that she'd been keeping from her team all season. ok so idk how much of the epilogues u have read, but basically to sum it up: it was made as a way to make the fans of canon hs angry. like that's kinda the whole point. and it worked because honestly!! they are quite terrible!!! and i do like them a lot but there are a lot of things that were done in bad faith with very little care to original canon, such as: raging misogyny in the form of making jane a hashtag girlboss who sexually abused jake, jade who has no concept of sexual boundaries and was literally framed to be the girl who got in between the gay couple, and like. a lot more. so it's. very far from perfect. honestly a lot of the character writing isn't even that good

but something to keep in mind is that while yes, part of the reason a lot of it is written that way is because hussie just wanted to piss people off, there is kind of a canon reason for it??? dirk went kind of off the rails and absorbed the knowledge of all of his splinters and alternate timeline selves (which for a person who hates himself that much!!! not great!!! would drive a guy a little nuts!!!) and he got a little. bro strider-ish. very manipulative and Not Nice. and he also grabbed control over the entire narrative in the meat timeline so!!! he was just messing with people and trying to convince himself he didn't feel bad about it. sad!

and the candy timeline is controlled by alt!calliope who wanted to make the entire timeline nice and perfect and domestic, a war broke out between trolls and humans, shit hit the fan pretty bad, but the narrative only focuses on the romantic and family drama which says sooooooo much about how alt!callie views the world and these characters. she grew up obsessing over them and now can't process that these are real people who are friends with the alpha timeline version of herself and it drives me bonkers and fucking yonkers GIRL YOU ARE MESSING WITH PEOPLE YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN YOUR BROTHER!!!! since ultimate!dirk absorbed the knowledge and memories of lord english through his absorption of arquiussprite he is basically lord fucking english so him and alt!calliope arguing over the timelines is literally just. two siblings who never grew up pulling their toys/friends back and forth and being upset because they can't get their own way IT'S INSANE

also the prose slaps sometimes. meat page 39 is an especially good example, like the way it capture's ult!dirk's character voice is. AAAAAAUGHJGHGH. god. the feelings of that part. the way he's clearly trying so hard not to care..... but he DOES. and you can TELL. honestly it really captures the tragedy of dirkjake so well. also candy page 14 is just. woagh. idk if you read that part but dirk dies in candy and it's just.... holyyyyy shit dude. it's a bit gorey and it is a suicide so maybe not the best part to read if you're in a bad state of mind but GOD. it just. there's something about it that somehow manages to capture dirk so well in a way. like of course his death would be self inflicted while feeling like he's doing something "right." jesus christ. i can give u links to my favourite pages if u wanna read any of em

ummm ANYWAY. hs2 is a continuation of BOTH timelines. john died in the meat timeline (sad) and got incredibly depressed in the candy timeline (also sad) but also he had a son with roxy in candy!!! his name is harry anderson and lemme tell u i love all of the kids in candy. there's harry, there's vrissy (an ecto clone of vriska adopted by rose and kanaya), tavros crocker-english (jane and jake's kid, the most tragic little guy ever tbh) and um. yiffy. yiffany longstocking lalonde-harley who was born when jade wanted a kid. i'm not gonna get into the whole ordeal of yiffy rn it was so balls to the wall insane if i explained everything i would be here all day. but also VRISKA IS THERE 🎉🎉🎉 and she is the highlight of the candy timeline lemme tell u. she's gonna end the troll/human war maybe. or maybe she'll just fuck around. who knows!!! it's vriska!!! i love her silly unpredictable swag :3

the meat timeline is where i go especially crazy because there is soooo much to analyze here in terms of prose and imagery and just. stuff in general. basically dirk and rose blasted off into space to go create a new intelligent species and introduce them to sburb and make their universe "relevant" again because something just feels Off about their current story, and they can't quite tell what it is so they're fixing it any way they can think of. also terezi tagged along because she was there when john died and she still hasn't found vriska and so she is also depressed so hey why not tag along on this death trip to the stars!!! also a bunch of others are trying to chase them down in their own spaceship, including: dave and karkat, jade, callie, and roxy (who is transmasc in the meat timeline!!!) also davekat is canon in the meat timeline and they have some lovely existential discussions about dave's immortality and karkat's mortality

anyway thats all i got for now. i feel insane about these guys and i'm hoping the new writers for hs2 can maybe improve the story a bit AND THEY ALREADY KIND OF HAVE!!! they brought sollux back, they made jake less of a punching bag and more of a character, they have vriska shenanigans, and jane is less of an Evil Girlboss and actually more of a homestuck villain if that makes sense!! AND THE ART STYLE IS BETTER TOO the hs2 style kind of devolved a bit and looked a bit terrible after a while (they might have just had new artists on at the time) but now they've got different artists!! and the guy heading it now worked on some of the original homestuck stuff!! so they're trying to slowly fix some of hussie's bad writing choices and expanding on the cool stuff that was already there!! i love hs2 it is my deeply flawed very fucked up baby :3 sorry this was so long. the demons got me u understand <3

OMG THANK YOU. i actually did start reading candy/meat when they first came out (<< 17 yr old who was so so so excited for new homestuck content) and ended up. giving up on them REALLY quick. i actually got to the part where dirk died in candy and that was what made me put them down entirely bc i was SO upset . also like u said yes the way jade was characterized was so so so uncomfy for me. so those r like the two main factors that made me totally give up on meat and candy. and i kind of openly was super super mad about the epilogues for a while after that and then i realized. oh no. im a fool. im exactly the kind of person they were written to make angry HHFDBSJS. so i backed down and learned to appreciate them for what they were from a distance <3

I hate Yoongi because of his personality but watching his concert and then watching JK's little solo performance in the middle really made me question again why JK is supposed to be the breakout soloist. I mean Yoongi is really good (🤢) and JK's performance was so blah. JK was a top notch performer in BTS though so I have to assume it's the song or maybe his stage presence that's the problem.

honestly the whole vibe was off to me this season. something just wasn’t right about it. The pogues being separated for the majority of the season was one of the problems. i feel like their was rarely a scene where they ALL worked together. And some of the chemistry was off too, i hope it wasn’t real life drama that bled into the show to cause this.

John B’s dad was a whole other issue. john b was off with his dad a lot. Also john b keeping secrets from the pogues was so not him. Also the whole Topper storyline was a bit icky to me and a bit unnecessary. I really don’t feel like that was in Sarah’s character to do that. they either had no idea what to do with Topper or because of the maddie and chase breakup, they needed a storyline where the two could be separated for a bit.

To me, OBX is all about friendship you know? “our mission this summer is to have a good time all the time.” The pogues working together and their banter is honestly what makes the show as great as it is. I felt like that element was missing this season.

Idk maybe i need to rewatch it but i wasn’t left fixating (#adhdprobs) on it like i normally do when new seasons of my comfort shows come out.

I feel like the writers pay more attention to what they think fans want to see (Jiara) than they do to telling an actual good story. Like I’m all for fan service when it’s done right (Psych is a brilliant example of this) but I just feel like Jiara has been so forced I can feel it. Like i cringe whenever they’re in a scene together cause, like you said, the vibe is way off.

I don’t wanna speculate about their real lives but I can’t imagine that Madelyn and Chase aren’t able to be professional with each other. I will say, compared to everyone else on this show, Madelyn is definitely the most talented of the lot. (Followed closely by Drew Starkey and Jonathan Daviss) I used to think Rudy was really but the last two seasons I feel like they’re giving him shitty scripts to work with and just reducing his character to nothing. There have been a couple times this season where JJ has kind of brought back that feeling I had about him in s1 but I feel like it’s always overshadowed by Kiara and her feelings. All of his scenes are for her benefit and I really feel like he’s lost the equal footing I felt like he had in s1.

I agree that I don’t like this Big John/John B side quest…I didn’t need Big John to come back for me to know that he was a crappy father and if anything he’s just proven to be the biggest villain out there.

I genuinely enjoyed Topper in the heist scenes with them, I thought he was really funny but I do definitely agree that they kind of shoved him in there because they didn’t know what to do with his character but didn’t want to write him out. (I honestly felt that way about Barry too…)

And yeah, totally agree with your point about the show being based on friendship. I loved s1, it was a comfort show for me in 2020, I watched it like five times. It truly got me through some really rough shit that year. But this season just feels so far removed from that. I felt like each character was important and had a solid story for the most part (I’ll still argue that Kiara and Sarah could have been written better from the beginning) but this season and last season to an extent just feel like they don’t know quite what to do with their storyline.

10:04am: I just unadded him from snapchat and I know that's just a baby step and probably could get reversed any day now. It helps not seeing the chat thread right there every time I open it up. He's just doing too much and everyone was right ig, once he loses her he's gonna realize he lost both of us because I don't see him the same way. I had to rewrite their fight like,,, 3 times lmao. I'm not very good at writing fights because I'm Incredibly Passive Aggressive and Very Non Confrontational. Thankfully my partner helped me out a bit with making the escalation feel natural, so hopefully their grievances and motivations read well. In the end, both of them are starving probably-emotionally-stunted teenage boys in a high-stress situation, and Tage is being faced constantly with one of the biggest sources of his trauma that he doesn't even remember-- of course he's going to lash out.

Fun thing I learned this time around, if I struggle with planning a chapter, it can kind of help to write it out in prose like I would a fanfic, and then translate it to comic form. This is how I eventually ended up with 18 pages of comic,,, because I can't really estimate how much I'll need to draw when I'm writing in prose. In turn, this did help a lot with adding more natural behaviors between dialogue, like Tage tapping his finger to fidget while crossing his arm, or all of their pointing and gesturing while they're arguing.

You have done such an amazing job writing this I really cannot—like all the characters, THE EMOTIONs; I’ve been sucked into this world from the very first chapter, which is a testament to you writing for sure. Also I just want to say that whatever happens in this series, whatever the endgame is for the main characters, I know you are gonna kill it and it will be amazing. Also also wanna say I love the part about questioning if being with someone for the wrong reasons to keep them happy without really loving them, is that going to help or hurt more. Very tricky. I’m gonna guess it’s gonna backfire on the gals that scheme tho—also I feel very little sympathy for Naomi—I feel like she totally preyed upon Saturu and used his rocky relationship to her benefit in order to get what she wanted. Hi hi! So the lost tombs and chronology all super confuse me. So tlt2 ended on a cliffhanger that was not resolved by tlt3 which is ultimate note, but now there is another tlt3 that I am guessing is made by the same studio as tlt2 (but not UN) that actually follows tlt2? And it has the same WPZ as tlt2 (but sadly different WX, ZQL though I’m sure these guys are great). You seem to know what you’re talking about so I’m hoping you can help!

UN also ended on a cliff hanger so I’m wondering if they’ll get a sequel from their studio that comes before tomb of the sea.

ahhh hello anon! yes ahaha the dmbj dramas are certainly very confusing--because they keep switching the screenwriters/entire production team between dramas. huanrui did tlt1 (2015), tlt2 (2019), and the sequel to tlt2 (2021). they're also technically the production company for un (2020), but linghe did like all the directing/casting/writing so its significantly different in tone and quality from the other dramas huanrui produced. npss (dmbj author) did sha hai (2018) and tltr (2020), with sha hai being in collab with linghe, so you can see lots of parallels with un and shared cast. (gonna add that i dont know much about the m9 because that’s not what im personally interested in, so i’m only going by stories with wu xie & the iron triangle.)

unfortunately, the dramas pretty have no continuity as a result of all the weird shit and multiple studios doing different dramas and messy stuff going on behind the scenes. the author's production company currently has all the rights back for filming future dramas, which is......imo, a good thing for book fans who love the author but a 😬 thing for book fans who like the original story more than what the author is now doing with it. I'll uh avoid saying too much opinion stuff though so no more on that 😅

that aside! yes 云顶天宫 “explore with the note” part 2......is the direct sequel to tlt2 and done by the same studio. unfortunately the writers are different and im not sure how much of the production team is the same either. idk how much you know about the novels so brief summary here--for the chinese version, the main story has 9 parts split among 8 books (though the official eng tls have each part being a different book) with some important content being as follows:

btw between sha hai and chongqi there’s also ten years later (a short story) that covers how wu xie and pangzi pick up xiaoge from the bronze gate and take him home

the dramas Do Not Connect To Each Other At All, which the exception of tlt2 & tlt2 pt2 somewhat, but they go in this order:

盗墓笔记 / the lost tomb 1 (2015): covers part 1 but with major OCs and filler, and includes the auction scene from part 8 for some reason, so introduces xiao hua early.

怒海潜沙&秦岭神树 / the lost tomb 2 (2019) technically “explore with the note”: covers parts 2 & 3 but with major OCs and filler, introduces xiao hua & xiuxiu (and hei xiazi briefly) early. last couple episodes also cover the beginning of part 4. not a direct sequel to tlt1 despite being done by the same studio.

云顶天宫 / heavenly palace on the clouds (2021) technically also “explore with the note”: covers part 4 with major OCs and filler (and the same changes carrying over from tlt2). some episodes are identical to the last couple episodes of tlt2. works as a direct sequel only if you ignore the last couple episodes of tlt2 that take place in the snowy mountains. (those episodes of tlt2 were filmed after this drama was filmed, and im still not sure why they dragged the wu xie and xiaoge from tlt2 back to changbai mountain to film those episodes.)

终极笔记 / ultimate note (2020): covers parts 5-8 with minor OCs and minimal filler, also introduces xiao hua & xiuxiu early. the only adaptation that resembles its source material most of the time.

沙海 / tomb of the sea (2018): covers the second sequel with major OCs and filler. includes some bits from zhh and the short story “three days of silence”.

重启之极海听雷 / the lost tomb reboot (2020): covers third sequel with major OCs and filler.

in addition there is the prequel series mystic nine (2016) and side movies for the dramas that the author produced. there is also a single standalone movie--time raiders (2016) that is....well it’s. very strange. it’s fully subbed on youtube if you’re interested?

the best way to watch the dramas is to assume each one is its own self-contained AU set along different points of the dmbj timeline because even the dramas the author himself worked on don’t have continuity LOL (and with the exception of ultimate note & sha hai most of the time, also assume most characters are pretty OOC from the novels).

i uh regret to inform you though, that ultimate note will not be getting a sequel unless the author magically decides to not care about making money anymore and sells the rights to film the finale to linghe or something ^^;;;; it’s....unfortunate bc un is the most highly-rated dmbj adaptation on douban by A Lot, but it’s an adaptation that the author had literally nothing to do with whatsoever.

i just thought of this so sorry if it’s poorly explained but here goes

when dean was getting fucked up by the hellhounds and/or when sam was cradling his dead body and kissing him or whatever, some of dean’s blood got in his mouth. he doesn’t think much of it, too busy numbly burying dean and trying to figure out what to do next.

the night after he buries dean, we still see what we saw at the end of s3, but when dean screams for sam, we see sam wake up from a nightmare. he now has a psychic link to dean and sees a lot of what happens to him in hell, which obviously makes him even more crazy about getting dean out.

now. in 1.14 sam moves a cabinet with his mind because he knew dean was in danger and it made his powers stronger, like a reflex. so imagine applying that logic to sam’s abilities when he knows that dean is in hell. he goes full force awakens like ava and starts gaining the abilities of the other special children, but they only work consistently when it relates to getting dean out.

there are a bunch of demons (like ruby) that worship him and still think of him as the boy king and all that. so he manipulate/manwhores his way into gaining some very loyal demon subjects. they help him find a way to get dean out, and they have their crazy reunion in hell where dean thinks he’s hallucinating because they’ve been torturing him by using sam’s image. once sam shows that it’s really him dean’s like “wtf are you doing here” and sam’s like “you called me” and dean’s like ?!??!

once he gets dean out, the show would spend WAY more time on the aftermath of hell and also not made sam such an asshole in s4 for the plot. so they have some actually productive convos and they both respect each other and trust each other the most. now sam already knows a lot of what dean went through, so he respects him even more, and dean doesn’t feel pressure to share things. and dean trusts sam’s powers because he got him out and because he only ever uses them to help people. also dean knows enough about demons now that he knows not all of them are the same type of bad, and if they wanna kill alastair, that’s cool with him.

dean is upset and feeling guilty that sam had to go to hell for him, and he’s like “you shouldn’t have done that, sammy.” And sam just shrugs like “hey, you pulled me out of the fire twice. i still owe you one.” and dean’s like Oh.

also part of the vision is that dean is Fucked up now. the spell or whatever they did to get him out healed the really major stuff but there’s no angel healing so he’s covered in scars and it’s fucking badass. sam also got a little scarred on the trip. they both have hell flashbacks because sam saw a lot of it and they’re really clingy cause they don’t want to lose each other again. sam gets really overprotective and dean is like dude chill but he also finds it cute

as for actual plot, they’re on the run from alastair who wants dean back because he shouldn’t have escaped. but demons don’t just come right at them because a) they heard about the boy king and know he can fuck their shit up and b) most demons are scared of dean now too because he was alastair’s prodigy. so it’s more like they’re getting stalked at times, and cops keep getting possessed and trying to frame/arrest them.

basically instead of angel vs demon it’s two factions of demons: the ones on sam’s side and the ones on lilith/ alastair’s side. and sam is like we should just kill them they deserve it! but over time they realize that being obsessed with revenge is not a good way to live and that’s what got dad killed so they act smart about it instead.

idk i think the more the show started having ever present looming season-long villains, the less fun it got. gimme more roadkill and the usual suspects and shit. i don’t Need the world to be ending i just need samdean drama
