Nico Hischier x Fem!reader
summary: reader and nico are in a secret relationship while on a camping trip together
notes: hi lovies! i got this request from my dear 🏔️ anon so i had to get right on it!! this was so fun to write and even more fun to play out in my head while i was writing it 🤭. also i had no clue what to name it so i quite literally just made up a word 🫣. i hope you enjoy!! happy reading! 🫶🏼
request: We’re camping and my tent ripped, can I please share yours?
[5.1k]
You hated the outdoors. Truly, you despised being outside.
You hated bugs, you were scared of wild animals, you hated the heat, you hated dirt, grass made you itchy, and you really hate the lack of indoor plumbing.
Literally, how do people enjoy spending a week out in the middle of nowhere, no signal for miles, no air conditioning, and eating the same four types of canned food? Not to mention your dislike of sleeping bags.
Who wants to sleep on a flimsy piece of material on the hard ground for days at a time? It’s just simply not appealing.
You continue to list off the things in your head you hate about camping and the outdoors in general while watching yourself be driven farther and farther away from the city through the windshield of Jack’s SUV.
“Oh c’mon, Y/N, don’t look like someone just kicked a puppy in front of you,” you hear from the front seat, Jack looking at you through his rear-view mirror.
You roll your eyes at him.
“Jack, I’m being taken to a remote location against my will with no access to a bathroom or civilization for seven whole days. At least if someone kicked a puppy in front of me, it’d be over sooner.”
“Woah, so you’re advocating for puppy kickers now, are you?” A new voice rings out, this one belonging to Dawson, who occupies the seat against the window beside of you.
“She’s not advocating for it, Dawson, she’s just saying she’d prefer it to being stuck in the woods with you for a week straight,” Holtzy responds from your other side, having been sandwiched between the two in the backseat of Jack’s car for the hour and a half ride to your unfortunate destination.
Dawson reaches behind your head to smack Alexs. Alex tries to retaliate, and suddenly you have two hockey players trying to fight each other on either side of your body.
“Hey! Cut it out before you hurt Y/N! Coach needs her to get good footage this weekend,” Luke yells at the two forwards.
“Wow, thanks for showing me where my worth lies, Luke,” you deadpan.
Luke flashes you a grin before turning back around in his seat. “You’re welcome.”
You stick your tongue out at him, knowing he’s just teasing you.
When you applied for a marketing internship at the Prudential Center a year ago, you had no idea that you would become so invested in this world. After the initial six month period of your internship was over, you were making plans to find work elsewhere when you were approached by the team’s GM and asked if you were interested in staying on full time as the new social media manager.
You immediately agreed, knowing you had found your passion with working in sports and wanted to stick with it for as long as you could. It didn’t hurt that you had become such good friends with a handful of the players close to your age, four of which were in the same car as you right now.
You and Jack were the closest, though. The two of you bonded over your shared love of country music, a rare find outside of your southern hometown. You had found other interests in common, too, but becoming each other’s country music concert buddy is to credit for much of your friendship.
You grew close to Luke simply because of your proximity to Jack, but found that he’s become a little brother to you. People always assumed there was more than friendship going on between you and Jack, but both of the Hughes boys had become the brothers you never had, no feelings beyond that ever surfacing.
As your job continued to cause you to spend time with the team, you found yourself growing closer to other players as well.
Nico was another player you found yourself talking to long after your work duties were done for the day. Whether it was chatting before practice, pulling him a little too frequently to do interviews or make videos, or grabbing a bite to eat after practice and games because neither one of you wanted to end your conversations, you found the Swiss captain occupying a large chunk of your time both at work and outside of work.
Which doesn’t make it all that surprising that he asked you to be his girlfriend three months ago.
After a huge win over the Islanders at home, the entire team had decided to go out to celebrate. You had caught a ride with Jack that morning, but when you were searching for him so you could leave, he was nowhere to be found, already gone to whatever bar everyone had agreed on.
Nico had stayed behind to do a few extra post-game interviews, so when you bumped into him outside of the locker rooms on your search for Jack, he offered you a ride. You had mentioned how hungry you were, telling him you should probably go home and grab something to eat and change before getting an uber to the bar, but Nico had pulled into the first late-night diner he saw after you mentioned your lack of eating dinner.
The two of you sat in the 50’s themed diner for hours, ignoring all the calls and texts asking where you were and why you didn’t come out to celebrate. You didn’t even realize how late it was until you received a text from Jack, asking that you call him when you got up so he knew you made it home safe, apologizing for forgetting you at the arena.
Nico walked you up to your apartment after driving you home that night, despite the fact it was after three in the morning and they had a mid-day practice the next day. You still don’t know if it was the high of winning or the late hour, but he decided to kiss you at your doorstep that night. Three days later, he asked you to be his girlfriend because he told you he couldn’t stand not being exclusive with you for a second longer.
No one knew, though. You kept on acting as if nothing had changed at work, and no one caught on otherwise. You decided it was fun to keep it to yourselves, enjoying being each other’s secret. You didn’t know the policy on dating your coworkers, either, so you didn’t want to risk anything by outing the relationship this early.
You felt bad lying and sneaking around Jack and Luke, especially, but you’ll tell them eventually. You enjoyed having no eyes on you, your relationship being simply between you and Nico right now. When you tell your friends and the rest of the team, it’ll be out there for good. Fans will find out, your boss will find out, and then your small bubble of Nico will burst.
That’s another reason you dread this weekend. Not only do you just hate camping and being outside for long periods of time, you’re going to be stuck being around Nico for a week straight with no chance to be his girlfriend instead of his coworker.
The trip is the team’s pre-season bonding activity, so you’re tagging along to capture material for future videos and pictures for the various social media pages and website. You had tried to send one of the other members of your media team, not thrilled at the idea of a camping retreat, but the head coach had requested you, specifically, because of your ability to convince the players to participate in various trends and videos.
You owe some of that to Nico, of course. After the two of you formed a friendship, he started telling his teammates they had to participate in whatever silly tasks you asked of them or he’d start reporting them to coach for making your job harder. Since his forceful request, you rarely had to fight to get any of the players to do the latest trending dance, or answer silly questions as they get on the ice before practice.
Unfortunately for you, this means the higher ups see your success and suddenly you’re volunteered to do things like this. And really, what kind of social media content can you create when you won’t even have cell service?
Tuning back into your surroundings, you notice you’re almost to the campground you’ll call home this week. You were so lost in your own head that you barely even noticed the four (grown) men in this car with you singing loudly to the F.U.N. song from none other than Spongebob Squarepants.
Jack and Luke were duetting the song, Jack taking the sponge’s part and Luke singing Plankton’s lines. Dawson and Alex were simply adding harmonies.
You were in for a long week.
———————————————————————————
“Who in their right mind would put a twenty-four year old teenage girl in charge of putting together her own tent?” you whine out as Curtis walks over to see you trying to read the directions for putting together the tent laid out in front of you.
“Honey, I think you’re a little too old to be calling yourself a teenage girl,” he chuckles as he kneels beside you, taking the instructions out of your hands.
“I’m just a girl, Lazar. I will always be a teenage girl at my core, no matter what age I am. Therefore, I’m a twenty-four year old teenage girl. And I’m extremely incapable of building a fucking tent,” you cry out, crossing your arms and huffing.
Curtis just shakes his head and laughs, grabbing the rods that go inside of the tent to give it structure, putting it together for you.
You sit back and watch, trying to help where you can, but ultimately being reverted back to the role of ‘holding the flashlight for dad’, but instead you’re ‘holding the mallet for Curtis’.
Halfway through putting your tent up, you see Nico start walking in your direction. You admire your boyfriend, his tan skin showing due to his green t-shirt being stuck in the pocket of his athletic shorts instead of on his torso. His black hat sits backwards on his head, hiding what you’re sure is sweaty hair. His favorite pair of sunglasses rest on his nose.
“Already making the guys do your dirty work, how dare you, Y/N,” Nico teases as he stops to stand in front of where you’re sitting on the ground.
“Listen, one perk of being a woman in sports is the fact that I’m always surrounded by men just waiting to save the damsel in distress,” you put your hand across your forehead to hide the sun from your eyes, squinting your eyes as you look up at him.
He rolls his eyes at you, flashing you a smile.
“Need any help, Curtis?” Nico calls out, but keeps his eyes on you.
“I think I’m nearly done, but if you want to start hammering the stakes in the ground that’d be great,” Curtis replies, not even looking up from the tent that had now taken shape.
“Sure thing. The mallet, please,” he reaches his hand out to you.
You hand Nico the mallet, looking up at him with an amused grin. “Get to it, time to do manly stuff and go pound on something .”
You start to stand and Nico shoots his other hand out for you to grab onto, helping you heave yourself off the ground.
Once you’re stood in front of Nico, he pulls your hand toward him so you’re standing dangerously close to him, your chests nearly touching. You look around, making sure no one sees the position the two of you are in right now.
Nico leans down, lips grazing your ear as he whispers “Unless you want me to drag you behind a tree and do extremely un-coworker type things to you with the entire team right here, I suggest you don’t talk about pounding anymore this weekend.”
A shiver makes it way down your spine as Nico steps back, walking over to where Curtis is now standing, turning to face the two of you.
You hope he assumes the redness on your face is because of the warm sun, and not because his captain just threatened to do R rated things to you behind a tree.
Ten minutes later, your tent is fully assembled and you’re blowing up your air mattress with a battery powered pump that’s seen better days.
Jack had laughed at your for bringing an air mattress, claiming it’s not really camping if you don’t sleep in a sleeping bag. You told him you refused to sleep on the ground with just a thin bag underneath you for the whole week. If you had to be here, you were going to make yourself as comfortable as you could.
You even brought a battery powered fan to sit in front of your bed incase you got hot at night, but you learned very quickly that even though it’s hot and humid during the day, the night is chilly and dark.
After everyone had settled in and the sun had set, Timo had managed to start a fire, placing hot dogs on a small grate he placed next to the fire while Jesper worked on opening cans of various types of vegetables to heat along side the sausages.
You laughed to yourself, knowing the team nutritionist would develop an eye twitch seeing what foods will be consumed by the players this week. The amount of sodium and carbs in the containers of food for the week were definitely not in line with the meal plan.
Finding a spot next to Jack, you go sit on one of the various logs around the fire, needing the heat to warm your chilled skin. Music played out of a speaker sitting on the picnic table behind the logs, one of your favorite country songs filling the space.
“Nice choice, it’s one of my favorites,” you nudge Jack’s shoulder as you sat down, assuming he had control of the music.
“Yeah it’s a good one, but don’t look at me. Cap’s the one with the aux right now,” he says, pointing to where Nico is standing by a tree, red solo cup in his hand.
You turn your head and make eye contact with him, his eyes having already found you. The raise of his cup and tilt of his head telling you he played this song specifically for you. Your face heats and you smile at the ground, trying to keep the grin from stretching too wide, not wanting to raise suspicion from the brunette to your right.
“Y’know, I wonder why Cap has any country music in his playlist at all, because last I checked, his phone was full of rap and Swiss music and he told me country was his least favorite genre,” Jack starts, leaning closer so you can hear him over the music and chatter. “But then I remembered, I see you and him talking an awful lot after practice, before practice, and everywhere in-between.” You feel like someone has dumped a bucket of ice water on your head, worried Jack’s figured the two of you out. “You’re not cheating on your music buddy, are you?” he asks, looking at you suspiciously.
Relief washes over you. He just thinks you’re sharing music with Nico. Not that you’re seeing Nico behind everyone’s back.
“I might have mentioned a few good artists to him. But don’t worry, concerts are still reserved for you,” you bump his shoulder again.
“Mhmmm. Must have taken a lot of convincing to make a rap loving Swiss man convert to Zach Bryan,” Jack hums, still looking at you suspiciously.
“Just a few links sent is all,” you tell him, noticing he’s just staring at you. “What?” you ask, leaning back a bit.
“Nothing,” Jack shakes his head, his eyes gleaming with an idea. “Just thinking…have you ever thought about going out with Cap?”
You choke on air. You try to recover with a cough, claiming you swallowed the wrong way. “What, what do you mean?”
“You know, like you and Cap. Going on a date. Dating. I think you two would be good together. You guys already seem friendly enough, and he’s a great guy. Plus, I can see the way you look at him, Y/N. You definitely have a crush on the guy,” Jack teases.
You start laughing. Jack is confused by your reaction, not thinking his suggestion was funny at all, but you can’t stop the laughs from escaping.
“Oh, Jack. You’re funny,” you tell him once you calm yourself down. “That’s nice, but nah. I don’t think Nico and I should go there. Too many things could go wrong, y’know? Plus, who even knows if I’m allowed to date any of you guys. Workplace romances are frowned upon in most jobs, you know.”
“Okay, it wasn’t that comical of a suggestion. I was being serious, I think you guys would be great together. To hell with the rules. I can tell when two people are into each other,” Jack says with a hint of annoyance, not appreciating your little laughing outburst.
A look of surprise makes its way onto your face at his comment that he thinks Nico is into you, too. Maybe the two of you weren’t doing such a good job at acting normal around the team. You succeed at suppressing the laughter this time, figuring a second outburst would really make Jack upset. “Oh, you think he’s into me, do you?”
Jack looks at you like you just asked him if the sky was blue.
“Are you kidding me? Y/N, he literally jumps at the chance to be in any of your tik tok videos and he threatened the whole team so they would quit, and I quote, ‘making your job harder and just fucking do what you ask’ or he’d report us to coach.”
You can’t help but giggle this time, of course knowing all of this, Nico having told you himself after he did it, but you can’t let Jack know that.
“I don’t know, Jack, that doesn’t exactly sound like something he’d do. What does he get out of it? More interruptions during practice? More attention on social media? Doesn’t sound like Nico if you ask me,” you tell him, trying to play dumb.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe he gets to spend more time with you. He gets on your good side, helps make your job easier while making ours harder. Earns brownie points to butter you up so you say yes to a date one of these days,” Jack leans his head towards yours, looking up at you like he’s just proven his point.
You steal a glance over at Nico, his head cocked, silently asking what you and Jack are talking about. You shake your head with a smile, telling him its unimportant with the roll of your eyes.
“I don’t know, Jack. We’ll see, I guess,” you sing song, earning a sigh from the boy to your right.
“You’re hopeless, both of you. I need another beer,” he gets up, leaving you on the bench by yourself, chuckling at just how right your best friend is.
After all of the burnt hot dogs and lukewarm veggies were eaten, it was time to for everyone to retire to their tents.
All of the players had to double up on tents, you and the coach being the only two people with their own. The players that were sharing tents on this trip would be sharing hotel rooms all season, so the bonding began with them being able to exist in the same space for an extended period of time.
Your tent sat about 50 feet from Jack and Luke’s. Nico’s tent was in the row of tents in front of yours, three tents separating the two of you.
You quickly made your way to your own tent and started getting ready for bed. Not being able to wash your face or do you proper skincare routine, you settled for brushing your teeth with a warm bottle of water and applying lotion to your face before crawling into your make-shift bed for the week. You hadn’t packed nearly enough blankets, seeing as you assumed it would be warm inside your tent, but you were chilled to the bone. You kept your sweatshirt on, opting for a pair of sweatpants instead of the skimpy sleeping shorts you brought.
You settled into your bed, switching off the small lantern you had been provided.
You laid there for what felt like ages trying to fall asleep. Every little snap of a twig or rustle of leaves made you scared a bear was about to claw its way through your tent.
You thought you had imagined it at first, assuming the wind was blowing and causing your tent to slightly ruffle in the wind. But when it happened a second time, this time the sound of something fiddling with the zipper of your tent following the ruffling, you were starting to panic.
You sat up, pulling the blanket to your chin as you saw a hand push on the door of your tent, a quiet yelp making its way out of you.
“Shhh, it’s just me, let me in,” you hear the familiar, accented voice of your boyfriend ring out, huffing while walking over and unzipping your tent just enough for him to slip through.
You walk back over to your air mattress, turning on the small lantern, looking at Nico standing in the middle of your tent. He was wearing a tan sherpa fleece with plaid pajama bottoms. He had to hunch over slightly, his height being too tall for your small tent.
“What the hell are you doing in here? You scared the hell out of me, you know that?” you whisper yelled at him, careful to not raise your voice too high as to not wake any of his teammates.
“My tent ripped, can I please share yours?” Nico asks with a smirk on his face.
“Oh, yeah? If your tent ripped then where’s Jesper sleeping, huh?” you raise your eyebrow and cross your arms.
“I just left him to fend for himself. Didn’t exactly want to invite him to sleep in here with us. Never know what he might see,” he walks towards you, placing his arms around your waist and pulling you close to him.
He looks down at you, your position mirroring earlier when this exact tent was being assembled, but you had no fear of anyone seeing you now.
“Hi, Schatz.”
You giggle up at him, unraveling your arms and placing them on his shoulders. “Hi Neeks.”
“I’ve been waiting all day to do this,” he mumbles before bringing his face down to yours.
You lean up on your tip toes to meet his lips, sighing contently into the kiss.
Nico pulls you closer, no space left between your bodies as his sucks your bottom lip into his mouth. You tangle your fingers in his hair, pushing against him into the kiss.
His tongue swipes across your lips, asking for entrance, and who are you to deny his wish? His tongue slips into your mouth, effectively deepening the kiss.
Nico walks you backwards until you plop down onto your air mattress, bringing his knee to rest in-between your legs, his forearms on either side of your head to support his weight.
You tug on his hair slightly, earning a groan in response. He starts grinding his pelvis against your thigh, which was your sign to stop this before it got too out of hand.
You pull back, pushing him up off of you slightly. He looks down at you with blown pupils and swollen lips. “Alright, tiger, slow down. We’re not having sex with several tents full of your entire team a few feet away.”
Nico deflates and brings his forehead to rest against your shoulder. “You couldn’t have told me that before I got a stiffie?”
“Sorry, shouldn’t have let yourself get so worked up. Should’ve known I wasn’t going to go there with this many people around,” you laugh at his whiney tone.
He rolls off of you onto his back, slinging his arm over his eyes.
“What are you doing? Quit being so dramatic,” you roll your eyes, trying to grab his arm and remove it from his face.
“Stop, trying to think of sad puppies to make my boner go away,” he swats your hand off of his arm.
You bust out laughing for the second time tonight, but this time you throw a hand over your mouth to stop the noise. The conversation about puppies in the car on the way here earlier making its way to your mind, making you laugh even harder.
“Okay, I think I’m good now,” Nico finally says, sitting up.
“Good. Don’t even think about getting handsy, either. This,” you gesture between you and Nico, “is not happening tonight. Or any night this week, for that matter.”
“Got it. You don’t want any of my teammates to hear you scream my name while my tongue is ins-“ you slap a hand over Nico’s mouth, not letting him finish that sentence.
His eyes shine with amusement at you, seeing your own wide in surprise. “Can I trust you to take my hand off of your mouth?” you ask him.
Nico shakes his head, but not before he darts his tongue out and licks a stripe up the palm of your hand, causing it to fly off of his mouth.
“Okay, you’re disgusting,” you scold him, wiping you hand on the blanket you’re both sitting on top of.
Nico just laughs at you in response, finding your annoyed expression amusing.
“C’mon, let’s go to bed. I’m already sick of you and the week hasn’t even started yet,” you tell him, pulling the blanket back so you can settle under it.
Nico follows your lead and places himself under the blanket at well, pulling your body close to his.
You lay your head on one end of your pillow while Nico places his on the other end, not having brought his own from his tent. The two of you just lay there facing each other for awhile before you remember to reach over and turn off the lantern once again.
You’re appreciative of the new warmth Nico brings to your bed, finally feeling yourself get sleepy.
“Wait, how are you going to know when to wake up before everyone else and go back to your tent?” you ask him, knowing his phone was in his vehicle, none of the players allowed their devices with them. You and coach were the only ones with phone privileges this week, even though they didn’t even work out here.
“Don’t worry, I will. First time I wake up I’ll sneak out, don’t worry,” he assures you, kissing you on the forehead before pulling your body flush to his, resting his chin on the top of your head.
Neither one of you must have woken up at all during the night, though, because when you wake up the next morning to the screams of “I knew it! I knew they were into each other! I told you so!” from your best friend as he stood inside your tent at the end of your bed with not only Luke, but with half of the team standing outside the wide open door of your tent, you were confused until you felt the weight of a body against yours. You open your eyes to see Nico’s scrunched face, the noise waking him up as well.
You both roll over and open your eyes, noticing your audience.
“I called it! I knew there was something going on here! How long have you two been together?” Jack bombards the two of you with questions despite you having literally just woke up.
“Get the hell out of this tent before I get coach to make everyone run three miles today,” Nico grumbles, his voice gravely from the early hour.
“No way, we need an explanation,” Dawson speaks this time, his expression matching Jack’s pleased one.
“You’ll get your explanation, but for right now, get out. Let us actually wake up without fifty people in our fucking tent. Now go, get out,” Nico pulls you closer to him, hiding your face in his chest and slinging a leg over your own.
“But-“ Jack starts again, but Nico removes an arm from around you and points at the door, “OUT!” he says sternly, his captain voice making an appearance.
The group of men start grumbling, but ultimately leaving your tent, zipping your door back up so you and Nico could have a bit of privacy again.
“Nico, you didn’t wake up,” you say, your voice muffled because of how close he’s holding you to his body.
“Sorry, Schatz. Was sleeping too good, I guess. Always happens when I’m sleeping with you. You’re like my own personal melatonin.”
You chuckle at him, not really mad that everyone found out, just wishing they hadn’t found you asleep together on a tiny air mattress.
“At least the boys know now. Now I don’t have to keep sneaking around at practice. I can stare at your ass loud and proud now,” Nico says, detaching himself from you and rolling over onto his back, rubbing his eyes.
You reach over and hit him in the chest. “This doesn’t give you permission to say innapropriate things to me while we’re at work.”
He rolls his head to look over at you, “Wouldn’t dream of it,” he smiles innocently, causing your to roll your own eyes and sigh at him.
“Hey! You guys better not be having sex in there! I’m implementing a no bone zone when I’m within a hundred feet of you two! Get your asses out here and get to explaining!” you heard Jack shout once again, beating his fist on the side of the tent.
You bring your hands up to cover your face, embarrassment flooding your veins.
“Jack! Suit up, you’re coming with me on a little run,” you hear coach shout, earning a “Shit, Nico this is your fault!” from Jack.
You burst into a fit of giggles.
You can’t help but feel like a weight has been lifted off of your chest, not having to lie to some of your closest friends anymore. You also foresee your week of no time with Nico changing slightly, figuring Jesper will be down a roommate for the remainder of the week.
Nothing, though, not even sharing a tent with Nico, or sneaking off to find open areas to gaze at the stars at night, could make you like camping.
You almost change your mind the night Nico takes you to a clearing, laying a blanket on the soft grass to stare up at the sky before he gifts you a necklace with his initial on it, the engraving on the back echoing the small “I love you” he whispers in your ear as he clasps the jewelry onto your neck.
You almost thought you liked camping then, until you walked back to you tent to find Nico had left it unzipped and a possum had made a home in the corner, hissing at him as you screamed loud enough to wake the whole team.
Yeah, you hate camping.

Missing You | Nico Hischeir
summary: when you and Nico haven’t seen each other for a month his teammates pull off the surprise of a lifetime when you both needed it the most.
request: yes/no
warnings: sexual themes, p in v, swearing, slight exhibitionist kink?
word count: 2.68k
authors note: welcome to the fourth instalment of the 1000 celly, and what I think is our first one with a mclaren driver. I have missed writing for this boy so much! this is also the first smut of 2024 if I'm not mistaken! we also aren't going to acknowledge that this has taken me like four days to write this...
You knew you were in love with Nico.
It was hard not to be, he had been your boyfriend for the last four and a half years and you didn't want anything more. When you were with Mclaren you met him when he was on a trip to Belgium you two met during a party. You had just won the first race of your career but the moment you saw him, the world all of a sudden didn’t matter to you. But by the end of the night you couldn’t get enough of him.
Yet as your careers both got ahead of you and it meant that the only real time you found yourself together was a three week period where you were both off in the summer break. But after this year it felt awkward for you both. You were coming up to the Austin leg of the season and with that it meant that you were back in the states. It seemed that both of you let your careers take hold of your lives, so even though you had a week off you didn’t know if Nico wanted to spend the time with you.
That was compounded by the fact that you guys had a stupid argument, and when Nico ended the call with how he thought it would have been best if you didn’t come in your week off.
Nico had been having a rough week so when the video came up of you and Lando being interviewed by a child, it was the cherry on top of the shit cake. Not even your FaceTime call could have taken him out of it “there you are love!” You smiled as you saw the picture connect “finally found some time away from Lando?” Nico grumbled as he hadn’t even finished the video when you called.
Your face dropped as you furrowed your eyebrows “you okay?” You trailed off as it only seemed to piss him off further “why do you have to go get all flirty with your teammate?” The accusation made you freeze “okay back the fuck up hotshot.” You warned as you raised your hand signaling to him to stop.
It wasn’t often that you two fought but after months without sex - or any variation of it - you were both frustrated “I did not flirt with my teammate or anyone because I’m in love with you!” You were close to hanging up as you glared at him “you’ve got a funny way of showing that.” Nico laughed as he shook his head.
You were doing alright at the moment with your racing, many podiums and even a win in the season that could all but have been called Max’s. But with one DNF and one DNS coming right after each other, you were now stressed “look don’t make your team playing like shit right now my fault.” You grumbled not realizing that the comment had slipped out “if we’re so shit then maybe you shouldn’t come!” With that Nico hung up leaving you with the reflection of your shocked face.
As much as you wanted to apologize for what you had said, you were still upset that he could have ever questioned how you felt about him. It was clear the entire world noted how both of you were currently struggling not only in your sports but also how you just seemed to be out of it. You missed your boyfriend but as fans would have you sign random pieces of devils merch as the announcement of your relationship upon your win in Austria two years ago came with a whole new group of fans.
So when you were sat in the comfort of your hotel room and got the message from Jack asking if you wanted to come to a devs game before the race in Vegas, you knew you couldn’t say no. Not when this was attached.
Jacky Hughes: he misses you, even if he won’t say it
The text made your heart break especially after you watched Nico get injured. The Prudential Center was a place you found comfort in but this time as you sat amongst the crowd all you wanted was him. Nico’s name was proudly stapled on your back as you were in his jersey and a plain black cap as though it was going to be enough to hide your identity.
And it did until the final intermission just as the boys got back on the ice “she still not talking to you?” Nico had called you earlier that morning but as you were on your flight you had no way of answering it “I just miss her.” Timo couldn’t help but place his hand on the boys shoulder as he felt bad.
More than half of the team knew that you were here and Timo decided he could no longer leave Nico in his misery “look up there.” Six rows up sat next to Ellen and Jim Hughes, was you.
Nico felt his jaw drop as he locked eyes with you “hi.” You mouthed like he could even see what you were saying “love you.” Nico did the same thing as you as he placed his hand on his heart as you blew him a kiss.
That final period everyone swore that there was a rocket under Nico’s ass as he scored two different goals, both of which you knew were dedicated to you as the boy would smirk in your direction. It seemed that both of you were ready to finally see each other but as he got one of the stars of the game it left you waiting with Jack “thank you for getting me here.” You smiled at the boy finally taking your cap off as you realized you weren’t hiding anymore.
Jack brushed it off as it was more of a favour to the boys than something for you guys “just hope he behaves.” You had mentioned your apprehensions on coming because of how you two fought “have a feeing we both will.” You nodded as you watched Nico’s head stick out from the crowd “schatzi!” He called out acting as the cue that Jack needed to leave “have fun.” The boy patted your shoulder as he walked off to his parents.
It was only a few seconds until Nico was in front of you “hi.” He smiled noticing how you fidgeted with your rings just like you used to when you guys first started dating “you played well tonight cap.” The nickname had his mind fulling with thoughts, all as inappropriate as the previous.
His hand locked with yours as he clicked his tongue wanting you to stop “I’m sorry I called your team shit.” You were the first to apologize as your voice was soft not wanting his teammates to hear you “let’s go talk in the car.” Nico offered as he slid his arm over your shoulders letting your rest your head against him.
It had been a while since you were in New Jersey as your summer break was spent in Europe “how did you keep the boys quiet?” Nico asked as he locked his hand with yours over the center console “it was actually their idea.” You smiled revealing what the surprise was “Jack said you missed me.” You teased letting out a giggle as the boys cheeks turn red.
Nico couldn’t help but nod as he sighed “you and Lando are good friends and I know you love me.” The hockey player had found himself repeating the apology that he tried so many times to send you “I seriously think you’re on a great team.” You hated how badly you spoke about the team when Nico stood by your side through everything “can we agree we were both wrong?” The air finally felt light as the car came to a stop when the light turned red.
His eyes stared into yours as he swore that there was nowhere that he’d rather be “only if it means that I could kiss you.” Nico mumbled as it made you smile “never need to ask me that.” You shook your head as the boy dropped his head to the side as he let his lips touch yours.
A fire built up in your belly as his hand grazed your cheek finally stopping as he tugged on your hair “Neek.” You moaned feeling him smirk against your lips “I know baby.” Nico sighed having to pull away as the car behind them hooted as the light went green “so fucking happy to have you back my sweet girl.” He mumbled letting his hand rest on your thigh as he smiled.
Being captain of an NHL team came with a bunch of privileges. One that Nico never realized that he was meant to appreciate was an expensive apartment with a view that could have been worth a thousand bucks “this will never get old.” You gasped pressing your fingers against the glass as you watched New Jersey continue to move beneath you “feels great getting to watch you in it.” Nico’s breath fanned against your skin as the hairs on the back of your neck stood up.
It was as though your entire body melted as his hands gripped at your hips “even in all of this?” You joked looking down to the fact that you were fully clothed “would prefer if you were just in this.” His fingers tugged at the jersey on your shoulders.
All of a sudden an idea popped up in your mind “what’s stopping you pretty boy?” Your tongue darted out of your mouth as you turned to face him “you gonna let me?” Nico raised his eyebrows in surprise as he hooked his fingers in the belt hoops of your pants pulling you closer to him “you get whatever you want my little star.” You cooed pushing yourself onto your tippy toes as you wrapped your hands around his shoulders.
Nico grinned as he swayed your hips against his “fuck I need you schatzi.” His groan was caught as your teeth grazed his lower lip “don’t make me wait.” The fight was now long forgotten as he undid your belt “god you’re soaked.” His eyes blew up at the sight of the wet patch on your panties.
He helped you out of your pants “do something please.” You begged as his eyes had you feeling like he had you fully undressed “put your hands against the window then for me.” Nico moved your hair to the side of your neck.
As you listened to his command his pants grew tight around his boner “looking so good tonight in my jersey.” The boy cooed as he turned his attention to the flesh of your ass squeezing your skin between his fingers “just tonight?” You held back a moan as you wiggled your ass in front of him desperate to get a reaction from the boy.
That behavior was cut as he lay a quick slap to your skin that was quickly followed by a soothing motion “you’ve got such a pretty ass.” He mumbled to himself picking up the band of your panties only to let it snap again as it made you jump “I need you Nico.” You begged letting the cool glass hit your forehead “you have me here schatzi.” His hand palmed your ass.
It made you whimper as your jaw went slack “need you to touch me.” Your tone was sultry as your body tensed “you just a cock hungry girl tonight?” The boy was amused as he took the time to unbuckle his belt as you bit your lip in anticipation “asked you a question pretty girl.” His voice pulled you from your focus as you turned your head to face him “want you baby.” Was all he needed to hear as he dropped his suit pants letting them hit the floor.
Nico missed this view as you practically oozed with anticipation “god I’ve missed this cunt” His fingers traced on the lace on your underwear before he hooked his fingers into the waistband leaving you nude from the waist down “you don’t have to wait much longer pretty boy.” You smirked hearing the gasp that left his lips as you knew that he was palming his cock.
The boy dragged its swollen head over your slit spreading his precum over your clit “don’t tease me please.” You begged as your knuckles turned white as your fingers tensed against the window “how do you think they would feel seeing how needy you are for me?” Nico teased as he kissed your neck as he slid his cock into your cunt “so big.” You gasped as the boy gave you a moment to let your walls stretch as his cock throbbed inside you “moove p-please.” You moaned feeling his hands squeeze your hips.
He felt his head drop back as you whimpered “let yourself scream f’me baby.” Nico nipped at your earlobe as it made you squirm “they can’t hear you from up here.” He reminded you of where you both were “you want people to watch you fuck-me!” You yelled the last part as Nico hit your ass once more.
Nico growled from behind you as he had gotten carried away by the fact that that you were still in his jersey “deserve to see who you belong to.” His possessiveness made you clench your cunt around him “you like it when I call you mine huh?” You nodded as you cried out “belong to you cap.” If Nico didn’t have so much planned for you he would have came on the spot but he used everything in his power to not coat the walls of your cunt in that moment.
The sound of skin slapping echoed in your ears as the sight of you in his jersey made his mouth water “hated thinking about those boys so close to you.” He grunted in your ear as his hands trailed up the inside of the jersey “you just look so fucking good in this.” As your hair was pushed to the side it had his name proudly displayed on your back.
You moaned as you nodded “’s all for you neeks.” You no longer seemed to care that you were against the window as your legs began to shake “I’m so close.” You announced as your hand trailed down to your clit as you began to rub at the sensitive nub.
As the boy realized what you were doing he swatted your hand away as he continued the assault on your clit “be a good girl and hold it f’me.” He clicked his tongue as he wanted to push you just a little bit further “i-i can’t.” You swore that tears were filling up your eyes as you whimpered “just a little bit longer.” He practically pleaded wanting to push you as close to the edge as he could.
Sweat made your hair stick to your skin “I need to-” your plead was short lived as he cut you off “let go for me.” Nico mumbled as his cock throbbed your body shook as you came “fuck fuck fuck!” You chanted as you pressed your head against his shoulder as your cunt clenched around him “there it is pretty girl.” Nico cooed as he kissed your temple as his orgasm came shortly after yours.
Nico watched your chest heaved as he slid his cock out of you “you were so good.” You mumbled turning to face him as you smiled “the night doesn’t have to end schatzi.” Nico cupped your cheeks as he pecked your lips “take me to your room cap.” He didn’t need to hear anymore as he threw you over his shoulder making you squeal as he laughed.
The door to his room shut and with that the rest of the events planned for you two weren’t going to be seen by New Jersey. Because as fun as that was, being tangled in the sheets was far more favourable.

10. “I don’t like them all looking at you."
series masterlist
.
Luke Hughes didn’t consider you to be a particularly possessive person.
Then again, he was also completely oblivious to his feelings for you being requited for months so maybe he wasn’t the best person to make judgements.
But even so, he never considered you to be possessive in the way he had seen other people in his life. He had seen Jack’s hot streak of jealousy when it came to Doc, the way the boy got clingy and pouty and a bit of a brat when he didn’t have her full attention. He knew Rogue was not someone to mess with when it came to Nico, and he had seen her put people in their place many times because of it. He had even seen it in John, despite how quiet and reserved the boy seemed.
He never once thought you would be like that, not really.
Not in this way.
Your relationship wasn’t exactly something either of you advertised, considering both of you were fairly private people, even to those close to you. Though, it would only take someone with a pair of eyes to see how the two of you looked at each other, it wasn’t something you shoved in people’s faces.
Hence why Luke tried to keep his ‘googly heart eyes’ (as Jack refers to them) to a minimum as he made his way into the club.
“Back again?”
Luke gave the older woman behind the bar a polite smile. “Hi, Georgia.”
“Has Nico sent you again?” Georgia asked, a knowing look in her eyes as she threw the dishcloth over her shoulder. “Or have you come to distract my girls again?”
“Boss wanted some information from a client the other night,” Luke said, which was not a lie. He had actually been sent down to the club for a reason. It was just a perk he got to see you during your shift. “Not here to be a bother.”
“Uh huh,” she hummed, nodding over his shoulder. “Tell that to them.”
Luke turned his head, finding a few of the dancers lingering by the stage. It was still an hour or so before the club opened, meaning the place was empty except for the workers. Though, Luke just gave the scantily clad girls an awkward wave before turning back to Georgia.
“You’re like fresh meat to them,” Georgia snorted. “They smell your fear.”
“I’m not scared of them,” Luke retorted, though his laugh was a little strained. “I just—”
“I’ve got him from here, Georgia.”
He barely got a chance to say goodbye to the woman when he felt a hand wrap around his wrist, tugging him in the direction of the changing rooms at the back of the club. However, his instinct to pull away completely washed away when he saw you pulling him away from the main area of the club, your brows furrowed and lips turned downwards.
Luke frowned. “Are you okay—woah!”
He stumbled into your room, looking back at you with wide eyes as you closed the door. He paused for a moment, just watching you as you locked the door before letting out a heavy sigh and turning to him. You wasted no time closing the distance between you, winding your arms around his middle as you pressed your cheek against his chest.
“Star, baby,” he murmured as he wrapped his arms around you. “Are you okay? What’s happened? Was it—”
“I don’t like them all looking at you,” you mumbled against his shirt as your hold on him tightened.
“Oh,” Luke paused for a moment before a small grin grew on his face. “You’re jealous?”
You lifted your head to narrow your eyes at him. “They are vultures.”
“Uh huh,” he grinned down at you, lifting his hands to cup your face. “Well, unlucky for them, I’m here to see my favourite dancer.”
You raised your brows. “Just your favourite dancer?”
“She happens to be my girlfriend too,” he added with a casual shrug, something warming in his chest at your smile. He leaned down to peck your lips. “You’re cute when you’re jealous.”
You rolled your eyes. “Whatever.”
“No, really, it’s cute. You look murderous—”
“I’ll murder you.”
“And you’ll look cute when you do it.”

Scheiße - Luke Hughes
Summary: In which Luke falls for Nico's friend despite the language barrier. Or in which Sofia dates an American boy even though she barely understands him... at first.
Content: fluff, a tiny bit of angst (sort of), implied sex but no smut, making out
also this fic is formatted a bit different! it's kinda like a timeline of Luke and Sofia's relationship!
notes: everything in italics is in swiss german. easier than having to translate everything!! this one is for all my other multilingual queens/kings :) i tried my best to represent the struggle that i felt trying to learn english, but obviously everyone's experience is going to be different. the squirrel scene is very much taken from an actual experience i had haha
Meeting
"Stop picking at your nails, Sof. Everyone is going to love you," Nico attempted to calm his best friend.
"You don't know that. They could hate me," she argued, continuing to pick at her cuticles.
"Well... I'm their captain. So, if they do anything that makes you upset..."
"Don't threaten your team for me, Neeks."
"Just trying to reassure you, love."
The Devils were having a little pre-season get together with all the players and their significant others. Nico's best friend, Sofia, had recently made the move to America in hopes to improve her English; so, naturally he had decided to bring her along to help her make some friends in New Jersey.
Nervously, she followed behind Nico as they walked onto the roof of Nicole and Jesper's building. He placed a comforting hand on her back, leading her towards a group of WAGs.
"Nico! Hi!" Nicole smiled, "And you must be Sofia! Nico talks about you all the time."
"Hi," Sofia smiled sheepishly, playing with the hem of her skirt.
"Would you like a drink?" the blonde asked.
"Oh, sure. Thank you."
"I'll be with the boys. Let me know if you need anything," Nico smiled, walking off towards a group of hollering men.
Sofia fell into a steady flow of conversation with the Devils' significant others. Well, as steady as it could be with her limited knowledge of English.
"How long have you been seeing Nico?" one of the girls asked, taking a sip from her cocktail.
Sofia choked on her drink, giggling at the idea of being with Nico. "He is my best friend. We are not toether."
"Omg! I'm so sorry," the other girl blushed.
"It is fine! No stress," Sof smiled proudly at the use of the expression that Nico had recently taught her.
"So, anyone special back in Switzerland?" Nicole questioned.
"Oh, um, no. I... too focused on work. No time," she explained.
"Omg! We could set you up with one of the single guys on the team!"
"Oh... it's okay," Sofia giggled, taking a long sip of her drink.
"Let us know if you change your mind," Nicole winked, before starting a story about something that had happened at work earlier in the week.
"Sofia! Come here!" Nico beckoned her over to where he stood with a few players.
"Coming! It was nice meeting you all," she smiled politely at the girls.
"Wait! Give me your number! I'll add you to our group chat," Simon's girlfriend exclaimed. Sofia was giddy as she typed her number into her newly found friend's phone.
"Guys, meet Sofia," Nico smiled, placing his hand on her back once again. "Sof, meet Luke, Jack, Timo, and Dawson."
"Hi," Jack smiled widely.
"Nico always talks of you guys. Nice to meet you," the girl smiled, scooting closer into Nico's side. She was not a fan of all the eyes on her at the moment.
"Nice to see you again," Timo grinned. They'd met over the summer when Nico was training.
Luke could see her shoulders untense at the sound of her native language.
"You as well. It's crazy to meet everyone Nico talks about all the time. Like, sometimes I was convinced they were all in his head," she giggled, earning a glare from her best friend.
Luke, Jack, and Dawson chuckled awkwardly, completely unaware of what the conversation in front of them was about. They could be shit talking for all they knew.
"So... what do you do for work?" Dawson asked.
"Oh, fashion photography!"
"Ever tried sports photography?"
"I'm not as good at it," she nodded.
"She's being humble. She just prefers fashion," Nico laughed. While Nico talked to the boys, Sofia couldn't help but notice that the tallest boy in the group had yet to speak to her. Did he not like her? She was trying her best. She caught his eyes for a moment, but he quickly looked down at the beer in his hands. She was upset that one of Nico's close friends didn't like her, but she couldn't win them all.
Crushing
It was the third or fourth time that Sofia had hungout with the WAGs. This time she'd invited them to have their wine night at her and Nico's apartment. The girls were sat in the living room, chatting animatedly about the upcoming season.
"I know that Simon is so excited for his rookie season! He told me that Luke is feeling the same way," Simon's girlfriend smiled.
"I- I don't think Luke likes me," Sofia spoke up, swishing her wine around in the glass.
"What?!" Nicole exclaimed, "Why do you think that?"
"He never talks to me. And when I go to stand with Neeks, he walks away."
"That's funny because Curtis told me something completely different," Reanne smiled cheekily.
"What did he say?" Sofia asked, chugging the rest of her wine, before pouring herself some more.
"That Luke has a biiiiiig crush on a certain someone."
"Ooo! Sofia!" the girls cheered.
"But... he doesn't talk to me."
"Luke has no play, girl. He's probably just wayyy too nervous to talk you cause you're so stunning."
"He thinks I'm cute?" Sofia blushed.
"Duh! Who wouldn't? Do you think he's cute?" Nicole pressed.
Sofia pressed her lips together in an attempt to hide her growing smile, "He is like... how do I say it? My..."
"Type?"
"Yes! He's my type."
"Can I tell Curtis? Maybe he can talk some sense into Luke."
"We should let them come together naturally, Reanne," Nicole giggled.
"Okay, well... next game you're talking to him. Sound good?"
Sofia nodded happily. She couldn't believe that Luke had a crush on her! She felt like a high schooler writing in her diary about the cute boy in her class.
First Date
Sofia stood in the bathroom mirror, fixing her hair for the 15th time. She hadn't gone on a date in over a year and she was shitting herself. Luke had asked her out after their most recent win against the Rangers. She hadn't exactly told Nico who were date was with, but he knew she was going on one.
"You look beautiful, Sof," Nico smiled as she walked into the kitchen.
"It's not too much?" she asked, pulling at the bottom of her top.
"Are you going to wear a jacket?"
"Yeah, my jean one."
"I think that's perfect. Where are you guys going?"
"Some pizza place. Then we're going on a walk, I think."
"Cute. How'd you meet?"
"Oh, at the Rangers game. He came up to me when I was waiting for you."
"He wasn't a Rangers fan... was he?"
"No," she giggled, "He was wearing a Devils' jersery."
"Good. Have fun! You'll be back tonight?"
"Yes, Neeks. I'm not going to his on the first date," she giggled, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
"Stay safe! I love you!"
"Love you too," she grabbed her purse, blowing him one last kiss before disappearing out the door.
"Hi," Luke smiled, "I like your outfit."
"Thank you, Luke. You look nice too," she admired the way his chest looked in the blue polo shirt he was wearing.
"Pizza?"
"Pizza."
The walk to the pizza place was full of laughter. Sofia wasn't sure she'd ever felt so confident in her English as when she was around Luke. He wasn't condescending at all, helping her when she asked and waiting when she didn't.
"Have you ever played hockey?" Luke asked, cutting himself a slice of pizza.
"No. That is not really... my thing?"
Luke nodded in understanding.
"But I love watching. You are very good."
"Thanks, Sofia. I have seen the outfits you've helped Nico make. Do you think you could help me?"
"You always wear same two suits," she giggled, covering her mouth.
"Don't bully me!"
"Sorry. I would love to help you, Luke."
"I, uh, wanted to apologize for ignoring you when we first met. I was under the impression that you were with Nico, so I was trying to push my attraction away."
"Nico is like a brother. I never think of him other ways. Promise."
"It's fine, Sof. No worries. I just being dumb."
"Maybe you are always dumb, Lukey."
Luke cackled, reaching out and holding her hand across the table.
"I'll just pretend that was your lack of English and not you bullying my again."
"I would never bully you," she smirked.
First Kiss
Sofia was cuddled up into Luke's side on the sofa, his hand holding tightly onto the dip of her waist.
"I can put the German captions on," Luke offered, as he watched Sofia's face scrunch up for umpteenth time.
"But maybe that would distract you."
"It won't, babe. I'll turn them on."
Sofia blushed at the pet name. Luke grabbed the remote, clicking on the German caption option on the film they were watching.
"What the hell is Eichhörnchen?" Luke asked, butchering the pronunciation.
"Eichhörnchen?" she giggled, correcting him, "It's squirrel."
"Say that again?"
"Squirrel."
"You say it so funny. I'm sorry."
"The 'skw' sound... that is not in German. Stop hating."
"Sorry, love," Luke giggled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
Sofia looked up at him as he pulled away. She placed a gentle hand on the side of his face, leading him back down.
"What're you doing?" he whispered.
"Can we kiss?"
"Wha- what?"
"Can we kiss?" she asked just as confidently as before.
Luke nodded, running his tongue over his bottom lip. He leaned forward, capturing her top lip between his. He smiled into the kiss, ultimately breaking it. Sofia pouted, pulling him back in for more.
Wearing His Jersey/Becoming His Girlfriend
"Do a spin for me?" Luke smiled from his spot on his bed. Sofia was dressed in her panties and a jersey with 'Hughes 43' plastered on the back. She spun around giggling as he got off the bed, picking her up.
"You. Are. So. Fucking. Beautiful," he said between kisses, hands sneaking under the jersey to give her exposed ass a small squeeze. She gasped, smacking his chest.
"Jack will be home soon, I should go."
"Do you have to?" he whined, sitting down and pulling her onto his lap.
"Yes, Lukey. I'll be at the game, wearing my new jersey," she giggled, pulling him into a passionate kiss. He attempted to lay down and bring her with him, but she was quick to stand up. She walked over to the side of the bed, hopping into her jeans. The vintage bell bottoms looked amazing on her and Luke made sure to let her know, letting out a low whistle as she walked out the door.
"A Hughes' jersey?" Nico questioned after the game, pulling her into a hug.
"Thought I'd switch it up. Can't always be repping the Hischier one."
"Where'd you get it?"
"Luke let me borrow it."
"I'm glad you two have become friends. I was worrying you weren't going to befriend any of the guys."
"We're the same age. It just made sense," she shrugged.
"You never told me how that date you went on was."
"Oh, didn't really work out. He just wanted to use me to get free tickets," she lied.
"Sounds about right. You'll find someone, Sof. Don't worry."
"And if I don't?"
"You've got me," he winked, making her laugh. "Need a ride home?"
"Yes! Let me say thanks to Luke again."
"I'll meet you at the car," he smiled, kissing her cheek as he headed out.
"Look at you," Luke whispered as he pulled her into a 'friendly' hug. "Look so good in my jersey."
"Stop being so horny," she giggled, pulling away from him.
"Can't help it when my girlfriend looks sooooo fine."
"Girlfriend?"
"Sorry, I- uh, I just assumed because we spend all this time together. But if you don't want to be my girlfriend, I understand. I shouldn't have-"
"Luke."
"Yeah?"
"I'd love to be your girlfriend."
"Oh."
She pulled him into one more quick hug, before skipping off to meet Nico.
Nico Finding Out
Luke hummed as Sofia straddled his lap, running her hands through his hair. He pressed a kiss to her jaw, another on her neck, then one on her collarbone before connecting their lips again.
"I missed you," he mumbled.
"Missed you too."
The boys had been on a week long roadie, and now Sofia and Luke couldn't keep their hands off each other.
"Mmm, I love this perfume. Is it new?" he asked, kissing her neck again.
"Yeah," her voice was shaky, gasping when he nipped at her jaw.
"God, Sofia. You're perfect."
"Luke."
"Hm?"
"Kiss me."
His hands gripped her waist as their lips met in another passionate kiss. They laid down on the couch, Luke holding himself up as his girlfriend giggled below him.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothing. I just missed this."
"Me too, babe."
Sofia's hands moved under his top, feeling the smooth skin of his chest. Just as Luke was going to ask if he could do the same, a new voice echoed through the apartment.
"Sofia? Who's here?"
"What?"
"Who's here? There's some white sneakers at the door. Not mine."
"Oh, Luke's here! We're watching TV."
The couple scrambled to sit up and fix their dishevled looks.
"Hey, Luke! How's it going, man?" Nico entered the living room, dapping up his teammate.
"Good, good. How're you?"
"Good. You didn't tell me he was coming over," Nico turned to his roommate.
"Yeah... spur of the moment."
"Is that a hickey?" Nico asked in German, as not to embarass Sofia.
"What? No."
"It totally is! Who gave you a hickey?"
"It's not a hickey, Nico."
"Was it him?!" Nico gasped.
"What?! No!"
"It was! You're such a shit liar! How long?"
"Beginning of the season," she sighed, finally giving in.
"This is so funny! Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I'm not a shit liar, for the record. You had no idea until now."
"Was that date with him?!"
"Nico!"
"I'm right here... if you're talking about me," Luke scratched the back of his neck.
"One second, Luke," Sofia smiled. "It was, yeah. I... I was nervous to tell you. Was worried you'd think I was using you to get with him."
"That's funny, Sof. I couldn't care less. As long as you're happy."
Sofia stood up, pulling her best friend into a tight hug.
"I'm watching you though, Rusty. Hurt her and I'll hurt you," Nico threatened, heading to his bedroom.
"He knows?!" Luke gasped.
Guess Sofia had some explaining to do.

I BEG! BEG FOR SOME hughes!sister x Nico Au
Where Jack find out about them by accident, and Jacks like “You’re my sister, and THIS is what you do to me?”
PLEASE ITS A NEED
i’m so happy that u like the au!!🫶
-
Dawsons the one to break the news to Jack. they’re sitting on his coach, both scrolling on their phones and gossiping with each other.
“crazy how Blake and Nico are dating eh?” Dawson says, his newfie accent thick as he pauses on the newest photo on his instagram feed.
Jack chuckles, “man what are you talking about”. he tosses his phone beside him on the couch and leans back, not believing for a second that his twin would be dating his captain.
“Nico and Blake?” Dawson continues cluelessly. he scrolls through Blake's photos, stopping at a very obvious pic of her and Nico with his silhouette cropped out. Dawson tilts his phone towards Jack.
“you’re fucking lying,” Jack gasps, sitting up from his position and taking hold of Dawsons phone.
“you didn’t know..?” Dawson’s so confused… the relationship between their captain and the Hughes sister was very obvious to everyone near the couple.
Jack shoots up out of his seat and quickly pockets his phone as he rushes out his goodbyes to Dawson.
“you’re my sister and THIS is what you do to me?” Jack shouts, storming into Blake's quiet apartment. she looks up from her book to see a fuming Jack in her entrance way.
“what…. did i do?”
“my captain?? you’re screwing my captain!” he shouts again, tugging on his hair as he walks through her apartment.
when he starts pacing, Blake's anxiety grows.
“i didn’t… i’m not-“
“don’t lie to me,” Jack bites, whipping around to face a shell shocked Blake.
Blake stares at her twin, anxious tears threatening her eyesight as she rushes out an apology. “i’m so sorry Jack. I know it’s wrong but we’re adults and he’s so-“ she gasps, “he’s so sweet and-“ she gasps again, tears winning their battle and steaming down her face.
“don’t cry about it” Jack scuffs, and as much as he doesn’t want to admit it in this moment Blake being upset always made him upset. he walks over to his sister, sitting quietly on the floor in front of her spot on the couch. he stares straight ahead, stewing in his own upset while also letting Blake know that they’re going to work it out.
truly though, this was so damn annoying for Jack. out of everyone, her sister would choose his captain? he sighed.
“i’m sorry” Blake whispers again, nudging Jack's shoulder with her fist.
“it’s whatever” Jack sighs, all of his energy being drained from his earlier outburst.
the twins sit in silence for a while, before Jack starts up again.
“oh my god is that why you have his jersey sitting in your closet?” he gasps, turning to face his sister.
“how do you know about that!”
Jack blinks at her, “you force me to bring you sweaters when you’re cold, what are you talking about?”
“okay well-“
“oh my god!” he continues. “that’s why you were fuming that night of the wag party… you were jealous that he was talking to somebody else!”
“okay i’m happy that you kind of moved on from your anger but we really don’t have to go through all-“
“BROO!!! that’s why Nico was asking me about your favourite things??? he said he just wanted to know your coffee order to make you feel better but he liked you!” Jack gasps, shifting himself so that he was laying on the floor and staring up at the ceiling.
Blake blushes at Jacks retelling. “Nicos so sweet,”
“ugh,” Jack groans loudly and dramatically. he thrashes around on the ground, before settling and staring up at his sister. “don’t say any of that shit to me,”
“I thought you were cool with us now!” Blake protests.
“no,” Jack states. “after that comment i take it all back”
“that was innocent though?” Blake laughs at Jack's struggle. he looked like he was in pain.
before Jack has the chance to say anything, Blake’s phone rings and she happily answers. she puts it on speaker and Nicos voice blares through the phone loud and clear. “hey babe!”
“UGH,” Jack groans.
“Jack?” Nico is immediately panicking thinking that he’d just blown their cover.
“he knows,” Blake responds for Jack, who hides his face in his hands.
“this is disgusting” Jack mutters.
“you told him?” Nico asks, completely bypassing Jack's comment.
“no,” Blake responds before turning to Jack. “wait… how did you find out?”
“Dawson,” Jacks voice is muffled behind his hands.
“Dawson knows?” Nico questions in disbelief.
“I guess we’re not too discreet,” Blake chuckles, causing another loud groan to rip through Jack.

question pressure
nico hischier x reader
summary: nico feels like everyone is mistaking you for his wife and thinks it is finally time to ask you the question
requested: yes!
Since Nico’s rookie year, you had been together. He met you in the city, trying to find some grocery store he was told about, and collided with you. Nico’s a hockey player. Bumping into him sent you stumbling to the ground. He felt bad, but his worry eased up as he was met with laughter as he offered you a hand.
You were moving in with him at the beginning of his sophomore season. Summers were always lonely without him, especially in the early parts of your relationship. It was also harder when he went back to Switzerland to complete his military service. The two of you overcame small hiccups like those and even bigger hiccups like injuries and a pandemic. However, you stuck it out with him. You began traveling with him for parts of the summer and making road trips work by facetime calls and texts.
When Nico was named the next captain in Devils history, you were ecstatic. You wouldn’t say you were expecting a wedding ring or anything, but you thought for a split second he would ask. His first year as captain came and went, and there was still no wedding ring. Being together since early 2018, you would have expected it. You tried not to dwell too much on it, though, wanting to let Nico decide when the best time was.
The Devils were playing pretty well so far. You couldn’t have been happier. Nico was happy and attempting not to be too upset when eventual losses came. He was also happy with you, discussing moving out of the apartment and into a house. The idea of getting a dog was floating around, and Nico was getting baby fever pretty often.
It was an interview when something happened first. After a win against Florida, Nico, with a goal in the game, was interviewed. “We saw you make a little celly stop at your wife, who was sitting on the glass, is she excited about how your season has progressed?”
Nico froze for a second at the idea of someone mistaking you as his wife. “Oh yeah, my girlfriend is pretty excited. She loves watching me and the team make it so far this season,” Nico corrected softly. It was hard to watch the interview and not cringe at the panic in Nico’s eyes when someone referred to you as his wife. It wasn’t that he was embarrassed to be with you and have you as his wife. It was more panic from Nico realizing that he had probably been putting off proposing for too long; assumptions were being taken about his marital status.
The interview gained him a few chirps in the locker room for the next couple of days. Nico apologized to you, but you swiftly told him not to worry. It was an honest mistake from the interviewer.
Nico sat at a small lunch restaurant near the training facility with Jack, Dawson, and Dougie. Their waitress mentioned that the restaurant would be closed for a day next week since they were catering a wedding. “So, when are you going to ask?” Dougie questioned, eyes pointed toward Nico. “Ask what?” Nico’s eyebrows furrowed together in confusion. “An interviewer referred to your long-term girlfriend as your wife, and you have brought up the idea of moving into a house with (Y/N). Shouldn’t you be asking a certain question soon?” Dougie elaborated.
He shrugged, trying not to bring more attention to himself from the group. “Does it feel too early to ask?” Nico pondered aloud, eliciting a groan from Jack and Dawson. “Just ask her! What if she gets annoyed and leaves you?” Jack planted that fear into Nico’s head.
It happened again. Someone referred to you as Nico’s wife instead of a girlfriend. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t feel awkward. You and Nico had dinner reservations at a nice restaurant. Nico felt like he owed you a nice dinner since he had been away so often this month. “Mr. Hischier, you and your wife can follow me to your table,” the host smiled sweetly. “Oh, just girlfriend,” you corrected with a soft, kind smile on your face. Nico’s hand gripped yours a little tighter at that moment as a small pang of guilt flooded into his body.
A few weeks after that, you received a wedding invitation in the mail from your distant cousin. Nico had caught you looking at the invitation a little too long. He couldn’t tell if you were upset or jealous. “Weddings are always fun,” you mumbled to Nico as you marked yes on the RSVP for your and Nico’s attendance.
Nico practically hunted down his new teammate at practice the next week, finding Curtis Lazar lacing up his skates in the dressing room. “I need you and your wife to go ring shopping with me.”
His pocket had never felt heavier than when he was walking into your shared apartment with the ring box. It felt like the small black velvet box was weighing his pocket down. Nerves dripping off his body were soon gone, seeing you curled up on the couch in his t-shirt. “Hi babe, I printed out some more papers about houses that we should go look at!” you said, happy to see your boyfriend home. He smiled, leaning down to kiss your head. “I’ll look at them after I shower.”
Nico shoved the ring box into his nightstand, praying you wouldn’t find it. The rest of the night was normal. You two cooked dinner, watched a movie, brushed your teeth, and snuggled into bed. Your head rested on Nico’s chest, and his arm wrapped around you as the two of you shared small talk. Nico felt a smile on his face as you discussed how you would want to set up the house the two of you were planning to move into.
“Marry me.”
You sat up quickly, looking down at your boyfriend, “What?”
Nico sat up as well, his hands shaking as he grabbed the ring box from his nightstand. “Marry me.” You panicked, “You’re not doing this because you feel pressured, right? I don’t mind correcting people, and if they guys are teasing you, you should just ignore them, and-” Nico cut off your rambling with a kiss. “Marry me,” Nico mumbled against your lips.
Pulling away from Nico, you nodded once before nodding faster. “I didn’t know when or how to ask you, but hearing you talk about our future house just made me think I should ask now. Plus, I might have waited too long to ask, don't want you getting annoyed,” Nico explained as he opened the ring box, took the ring out, and slid it onto your finger, trying to calm down your shaking hands.
With a new piece of jewelry on your finger, Nico and you fell asleep as he mumbled how much he loved you.

i can see you | jack hughes
summary: a secret relationship with your brothers teammate is becoming more and more difficult to keep hidden.
request: yes / no
warnings: semi-nsfw content, making out, implications of sex (i think?)
a/n: based on 'i can see you' by taylor swift. woah look at me posting!!! life got so busy recently so i am so sorry for not posting. thank you guys for the continuous support, it truly means the world. i might open requests again soon but i am balancing my summer job (camp counsellors 4 the win) so it might not be open for long. love you guys loads🩷 also I'm sorry i kinda hate this...
word count: 0.8k
Dawson and you walk into the reception area, taking in the sight of the entire Devil's roster dancing to Abba. You two step off to the side, grabbing glasses of wine from the bar and watching as your brother's teammates slightly embarrassed themselves.
“Hey, man.” You hear his voice say. Looking to your right, he’s standing there, just feet away, in his new black Prada suit. The same suit you picked out as you spent 2 hours on the phone with Jack going over options. He looked chiselled in the suit which fit him in all the right places. You thanked his tailor in your head.
You never understood why your brother held off on introducing you to Jack. It took a couple of months before you were introduced to him at a game. Then you understood. Jack was the kind of guy you could easily become addicted to. His laugh, his humour, the way his eyes would make you feel like the only one in a room of hundreds.
“Wassup bud?” Your brother says, pulling Jack in for a hug. “You clean up nice. Your mom dress you tonight?”
“Not my mom, but I did have some help.” He chuckles. You know he’s talking about you but you don’t dare react to his comment.
The two of you were unsure how your brother would react to news of the two of you being... whatever you were. But suffice it to say you didn't think it would go well. To save both of you from being killed, you simply kept it a secret. Move fast and keep quiet.
“Oh don’t tell me someone was finally able to strap you down?” Dawson teases, clapping him on the shoulder.
Jack pushes Dawson's hand away giving him a playful shove. He turns to you, your breath catching as your eyes lock with one another.
“How’re you, y/n?” He asks.
“Uh just fine, thanks for asking.” You reply.
Brown Eyed Girl begins to play through the speakers and Dawson has already abandoned you in favour of Nico and Timo, who had both discarded their ties.
“You look fantastic.” Jack says to you.
Your cheeks flush pink. Jack, loving his effect on you, flashes a delightful grin adding to the hue. “Thank you, Jack.”
He shoves a hand in his pants pocket, fishing around briefly before pulling out a small piece of paper. “Here.” Is all he says, pushing the scrap in your hand before walking back to the rest of the group.
You step off to the side, setting your wine glass down and unfolding the paper. Written in Jack's handwriting is ‘meet me @ midnight’. A small, uneven heart is drawn underneath. You smile to yourself, tucking the note into your handbag.
You join the rest of the wedding, spending the remaining hours thinking about Jack's note. The pair of you throw longing glances across the room to one another but don’t get close enough for more than a brush of knuckles. But that slight touch sent a rush of electricity from your hands to your feet.
There are 5 minutes left till midnight when you excuse yourself from the still lively party, slipping down the hall of the country club that the bride and groom had chosen as their venue. Jack never told you where to meet him so you wander around, looking behind every door for the shaggy-haired boy.
You had lost yourself within the corridors of the venue, having made a great many lefts and rights that you had lost track of. You keep walking until you finally spot a figure at the end of the hall staring out the window into the inky sky.
The click of your heels makes Jack spin around. His necktie is loose around his collar, the top two buttons undone.
“Hey.” You say softly.
“Holy shit.” Jack breathes out.
You stop in front of him, furrowing your eyebrows. “What?” You ask.
“You look fucking amazing.”
Jack’s hands are on your hips as if being pulled to them by a magnetic force. He dips his head down, connecting your lips. He presses soft kisses to your lips, slowly trailing them down your jaw to your neck. Jack slips his arms from his suit jacket, throwing it to the floor.
His hands are back on hips as his lips are on yours. There’s a certain sense of hunger as you both know you don’t have much time. He walks you back, pressing you firmly between his firm body and the wall. Pinning a knee between your legs, he holds you up as his kiss weakens your knees.
The pair of you are breathless when you break apart. His hair has fallen over his eyes, his lips a light scarlet colour. You reach up, brushing away his bangs. His lips hook to the left as he flashes a smirk. You pull him back in, feeling his lips smile against yours.
The both of you are suddenly trying doorknobs, looking for an empty room. You finally slip into an empty dining room, you taking a seat on a table. His hands push up the skirt of your dress, the music from the wedding drowning out any noises the two of you made.

Nico Hischier x Angie Chandler
In which Angie tells her boys about her new found relationship with Nico
Warning: 18+ content/smut below the cut: nothing extremely explicit or intense, just really sweet and soft sex!! Definitely giving Munch!Nico!! Also, there is a plot and a little angst, but not too much and nothing too deep. If there's anything you think I left out, please lmk!!
Au Masterlist!!
Angie was practically vibrating in her car seat as she waited for Nico just outside the Detroit airport. Her hands absentmindedly white-knuckling the steering wheel with nerves as she waited for the man she hadn't seen in nearly two months.
She had been itching to get her lips on his for the past few weeks, the distance unbearable as the excitement of their trip crept up on them. And finally, it was time, they were to be reunited in just under fifteen minutes as she waited for him at the arrivals door, waiting for him to grab his luggage and gear before finally seeing each other again.
It wasn't hard convincing Jack to let her have a mysterious guest for the rest of the summer until she and the man would do a little road trip back to Jersey.
Jack was a bit clueless about the whole affair, despite a few near slips—texts he shouldn’t have seen, conversations he overheard when she snuck off to call Nico. But even with the hints, Jack hadn’t pieced together that the man on the other end of the line was Nico.
A gentle tap on the passenger seat window pulled her from her thoughts. There stood Nico in his tanned glory, dimples on display as she unbuckled and hopped out of the car to get her hands on the man she had been aching to see for weeks upon weeks.
She shoved her face into the crook of his neck as he pulled her flush against his chest.
"I missed you so much," she mumbled into his skin as his hands travelled up her back, gripping her shirt and the other cradling the back of her head before he pulled away to look at her. He quietly admired her freckled skin and the slight sunburn that blessed her cheeks before he laid a gentle kiss on her lips.
She melted into him as she felt his lips pull into a smile. The two of them attempted to fight off their grins in hopes of deepening the kiss, but their smiles were too wide as they both pulled away. Cheeks tinted pink as they stared at each other, laughter broke out as they came to realize how dramatic the two of them must look to the strangers passing by.
“I missed you too,” Nico chuckled, pulling her back into his chest. Angie buried her face in his shirt again, savouring the feeling of his arms around her. His cheek pressed against the top of her head, and they stood there momentarily, just soaking in the warmth of each other’s presence.
It wasn't long before they were both back in her car, a tired Nico to her right as she drove along the highway. He spent a while telling her all about training, how his mom was, and what Luca and Nina would be doing for the rest of the summer before he asked about her trip back to Dallas to visit her parents and brother, which had been good but nothing too exciting to report back about.
"So, I was thinking we just get the whole were dating thing out of the way today," she said shyly as she looked over to Nico, whose hand was intertwined with hers. "Whatever you're comfortable with," he shrugged, "if you're ready to tell them, then I am too."
Angie's eyes softened as she looked over to him, words of love danced on her tongue but dared not to leave her mouth as she brought his hand up to her mouth and pressed a kiss to his knuckles.
"You're perfect, did you know that?" She watched as his grin grew, "I try," he said smugly before her eyes returned to the road.
As she pulled into the driveway, a wave of nerves hit her. Telling Jack, Luke, and the rest of the boys about her relationship with Nico had seemed simple in theory, but now, as they were about to walk through that door and face the boys, the reality of it settled in. Angie squeezed Nico’s hand, drawing strength from his calm presence, and took a deep breath.
It was time to let the secret out.
“You ready?” Nico asked, his voice soft as he squeezed her hand gently. Angie nodded, her heart pounding in her chest, “Yeah, let’s get this over with,” she mumbled, leaning over to press a short kiss to his lips.
They stepped out of the car, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the yard. Nico grabbed his suitcase from the trunk, and together, they walked toward the front door. The sound of laughter drifted from inside the lakehouse, a reminder of the easygoing atmosphere they were about to disrupt.
Angie hesitated for a split second before opening the door, Jack and Quinn were in the living room, engrossed in some old footage of a devil's games on the big-screen TV. The clatter of the door closing behind them caught their attention, and both boys turned to look, expecting to see Angie returning from her trip to the airport.
“Hey, you’re back!” Jack called out, pausing the game, “How was the drive?” “Not too bad,” Angie replied, her voice a little higher than usual as Luke and a few of his college friends pilled into the living room along with some of Jack and Quinn's friends.
She stepped aside, revealing Nico standing just behind her, his dimples deepening as he smiled at the boys.
“Nico?” Luke said, surprise lighting up his features. “What are you doing here?” Angie's eye travelled over to Quinn, who was watching the whole encounter with a knowing look. Nico shrugged, trying to play it casually, “figured I’d crash your summer for a bit if that’s cool.”
Jack’s eyes widened in realization, his mind quickly connecting the dots, “wait, is Nico the ‘mysterious guest’ you mentioned?” Angie bit her lip, nodding as she looked between Jack and Quinn. “Yeah, he is. I, uh, I wanted to keep it a surprise.”
Jack got up to hug Nico, "No need to keep it a surprise, of course, we want him here!" Luke's brows slowly began to furrow as he watched Angie's face, a look of nerves on her expression as Jack and Nico dapped each other up.
Oblivious to the growing awkwardness, Jack continued speaking as he moved around the room. “Anyway, we’ll have to rearrange the sleeping situation. I thought Angie was inviting her boyfriend, so we didn’t prepare anything, but—” "You really don't have to!" Angie said, cheeks a deep red. Jack waved off her concern, scoffing at her suggestion, "I'm not making him sleep on the couch with Luca and Adam. We can figure something-" "No, Jack, we want to share a room," Angie finally spoke up as the room went silent.
Everything was tense for a second, the only one who looked unphased was Quinn, who had been quietly observing from the back of the room and struggled to suppress his laughter, knowing full well how this revelation was about to land. Meanwhile, the other boys stood wide-eyed, jaws dropped, processing what Angie had just said.
A loud laugh left Josh's mouth as he collapsed on the couch beside Quinn, which gained him a glare from Angie and a smack from Quinn.
Jack blinked, taking a second to register the statement. Then, to Angie’s surprise, he simply nodded and returned to the couch.
“Okay,” he said, with no further comment or outburst.
He picked up the remote and pressed play, resuming the game as if nothing had happened. Angie, still standing, watched him in disbelief, “You don’t have any questions?” she asked, trailing after him, trying to gauge his reaction. Jack shook his head, eyes fixed on the TV. “Nope,” he replied, completely tuning out the conversation.
"I have questions," Luke mumbled with his hand in the air as Nico grinned at him and shrugged at the tension that seemed to overtake the room. "We can talk about it later, Lu, I'm gonna bring Nico upstairs," she said with a little heartbreak in her voice as she turned to lead Nico out of the room.
She couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions—relief that the secret was out, but also a bit of heartbreak at how nonchalantly it had been received. It wasn’t that she wanted a dramatic reaction, but she had hoped for a little more acknowledgment of what this meant for her and Nico.
The door to her bedroom shut behind them as Nico pulled her into his chest and crashed onto her soft mattress, ruining the freshly made bed she had done up for him. Nico’s lips found the frown that had settled on her face, kissing it away gently, then trailing down her neck in a series of soft, tender pecks.
Each kiss was a quiet reassurance, a wordless promise that everything was okay. His touch was soothing, a deliberate distraction from the worries that had been gnawing at her since they walked into the house.
"You okay," he mumbled against her skin as he laid down beside her, the jetlag slowly taking over as he looked at her with tired eyes. "It's fine," she shrugged and rolled on top of him to rest her head on his chest, her fingers drawing little circles onto his forearm as she held him closely.
Nico's hand ran down her back, pulling her closer as he spoke, "Don’t let it get to you. He'll come around, it’s just a lot to process.” Angie nodded, feeling a little foolish for letting it bother her so much. “I know. I just… wanted it to be more of a moment, you know?” Nico smiled as he brought her hand up to his lips to place a kiss on her wrist, “It is a moment. Our moment. And it doesn’t matter how anyone else reacts as long as we’re happy.”
Angie opened her eyes, meeting his gaze as her fingers gently ran over his bearded jaw. The sincerity in his eyes made her heart swell, and she felt a wave of affection wash over her. “You always know exactly what to say,” she whispered, a small smile tugging at her lips. “That’s my job,” Nico teased, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “now, let’s just enjoy this time together, okay? The rest will work itself out.”
Within a few moments, Nico’s breathing slowed, his body relaxing into the bed as sleep overtook him. She listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her ear, her own eyes growing heavy as the comfort of his presence lulled her toward sleep.
★★★★
Luke gently knocked on the door and cracked it open, not looking inside at the half-awake couple who leaned against one another at the boy in the door with his eyes covered and facing away just in case. "Quinn and Dalton made dinner, yours is on the table"
Angie sat up slowly, careful not to disturb Nico as she rubbed her eyes of any remaining sleep. His hand instinctively tightened around her waist as she moved around on the bed, a sleepy mumble escaping his lips, but he didn’t fully wake up.
“Thanks, Luke,” she said softly, trying not to wake Nico. She could see Luke’s awkward stance at the door, hands covering his eyes like he expected to walk in on something.
She smiled at his awkwardness as she told him that he could look in the room, his face slightly red and embarrassed as he smiled at the sight of Angie wrapped up in Nico's hold. A little in awe of how natural they looked together, even in their tired states.
“Uhh, no problem,” Luke replied, “just wanted to make sure you both ate, Quinn doesn't want it to get cold before you come down.” “We’ll be down in a few,” she assured him, glancing back at Nico’s peaceful expression.
Luke nodded, backing out of the room quickly. Once the door clicked shut, Angie turned her attention back to Nico, who blinked awake, groggy but smiling up at her.
“Dinner’s ready,” she murmured, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead as his brows furrowed with a dazed look. Nico stretched, his arms lazily wrapping as tight as possible around her, pulling her back down into his chest as he rolled over to secure her in place, “let’s skip it, I just want to stay here with you.” She laughed softly, resting her forehead against his. “We can’t hide up here forever. Come on, food will help with the jetlag.”
Nico groaned but reluctantly let her slip out of his hold, “fine, but only because Jack wasn't the one who cooked,” he said, his voice still heavy with sleep as he swung his legs over the side of the bed.
Angie smiled as she pulled her hair back into a loose bun, watching him slowly get to his feet and make his way to her side, pressing a gentle kiss to her temple. Despite her lingering nerves about the reveal to Jack and the others, she felt a sense of calm wash over her, his hands squeezing the plush of her hips as he once again pressed a reassuring kiss to her neck.
Being with Nico made everything seem a little more manageable, and she couldn’t help but feel lucky to have him by her side.
"Ready?" she asked, extending her hand to him. Nico took it, lacing his fingers through hers as they headed downstairs together, ready to face the boys once more.
As they got down to the dining room, all the boys crowded around the table and yelled out in cheers at the sleepy-looking couple, who looked half awake and a little giddy at the newfound excitement.
Angie smiled as she maneuvered her way around the kitchen, Nico trailing close behind, hand in hers, as she led him around and helped get both of them plates of dinner.
The tension was still very palpable in the room, her eyes trailing over to Jack, who was staring at the two, silently watching before he gently shook his head and looked down at his plate.
Angie let out a soft huff, feeling the weight of Jack's silent stare. She knew he was processing everything, but the tension was still there, lingering in the air like a heavy cloud. Nico, ever attuned to her emotions, gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as he pulled her flush against his chest before he smoothly grabbed their plates from the counter and followed her to the table.
They sat down, and the conversation in the room resumed, though it was clear Jack's mood had shifted. Angie tried to focus on the food and the laughter of the other boys, but she couldn’t shake the unease that came with Jack’s quiet reaction.
Nico leaned in, his voice low and in her ear, “Give him some time, you know he’ll come around.” Angie nodded, grateful for Nico’s understanding, as she leaned into his frame. She glanced at Jack again, who was now pushing food around his plate, lost in thought.
Quinn, noticing the tension, spoke up, trying to diffuse the situation, “So, Nico, how long are you staying?” Quinn asked, his tone light and casual, steering the conversation into safer territory. Nico smiled, glancing at Angie before answering she plastered a smile on her face and watched as he interacted with the boys, “We've got a little before training camp, so I’ll be here for a week or so, and then she thought we’d do a little road trip after, maybe head back to Jersey.”
Luke, ever the instigator, chimed in with a grin. “A road trip, huh? Sounds like an adventure. You guys gonna let Jack and me tag along?” Angie laughed, shaking her head. “Sorry, Luke, I think this one’s just for us,” she reached over the table and ruffled his messy curls and flicking him in the forehead.
The table erupted in playful banter again, but Jack remained quiet, his silence louder than the conversation around them. As the meal wound down, Angie decided she couldn’t leave things unresolved with Jack. She stood, squeezing Nico’s shoulder, pressing a sneaky kiss to his jaw as a silent promise before walking over to Jack, who was still sitting at the table.
“Can we talk?” she asked softly. Jack looked up at her, his expression unreadable as gave her a look that resembled somewhat disinterest.
After a moment, he nodded and stood up from the table to follow her out onto the back porch, where the evening air was cool and quiet. Angie turned to face him, her hands fidgeting as she tried to find the right words. “I know this is a lot, and I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. But, Jack, I’m happy, he makes me happy.”
Jack leaned against the porch railing, not looking at her while running a hand through his hair, “I know he does,” he said quietly as he finally looked at her for a second, her eyes kinda glossed over as she waited for any sign of forgiveness.
"I'm tired, Ange," he said, shutting down the conversation before it had even started, her eyes full of hurt as she leaned against the railing next to him, "let's save this for the morning."
She nodded shortly, her eyes welling with tears as she let him return to the boys, taking a deep breath, she rubbed her eyes and slowly made her way back into the house. Everyone was still gathered around the table and living room, laughter and conversation continuing as if nothing had happened.
She spotted Luke sitting a little off to the side, quietly talking to one of his friends, he looked up at the girl, who looked visibly upset as she made her way over to him. Luke noticed her approaching and immediately gave her a knowing look, excusing himself from the conversation and patting the spot on the couch next to him.
"Hey," he said softly, his eyes scanning her face with concern, "You okay?" Angie shook her head, “I tried talking to Jack,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
“He just... shut me down. Told me he was tired and didn’t want to talk until the morning.” Luke frowned, his brows knitting together in concern, “what did you say to him?” “I told him how happy Nico makes me, that I’m sorry I didn’t tell him sooner.”
She sniffled, wiping her eyes quickly, embarrassment filling her face as she looked around to make sure no one was watching her emotional breakdown, “he barely looked at me." Luke sighed, leaning in closer to be quieter and crossing his arms, “Jack cares. A lot. You know how he is— he’s just not great with emotions, especially when it comes to big changes. This is probably a lot for him to process.” “I get that, but...” Angie’s voice cracked again, “It still hurts me, you know? I thought he’d at least try to understand.”
Luke nodded, his gaze softening as he looked at her, arm now wrapping around her shoulders, “I know it does. But you’re like his sister, Ange, and Nico is his friend, so it's probably confusing. He’ll come around, it's not like we never noticed something was going on, he probably just thought you didn't reciprocate the feelings.”
Angie wiped another tear from her cheek, feeling a small wave of relief wash over her at Luke’s words as she leaned into his comforting side. For the first time ever, she could admit that Luke was being rational. Jack wasn’t one to handle change easily, especially when it involved someone he cared about so deeply. She just wished he would’ve given her a little more than silence.
“Thanks, Luke,” she said softly, managing a weak smile. “I just hate feeling like I’ve upset him.” Luke smiled back, reaching out to give her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “You haven’t. Trust me. He's weird, you know that, he’ll come around," he poked her side as she grinned at him.
Angie nodded, feeling a little lighter as she took in Luke’s reassurance, watching his grin turn cheeky as she finally gave him a smile, “I hope so. I just don’t want things to be weird between us.” “They won’t be,” Luke assured her, “Once he’s had time to process, he’ll feel like such a dick. You two are close, that’s not going to change.”
"Thank you." He shrugged nonchalantly, "Just doing my job as the chill younger brother, I guess.” She laughed softly as she awkwardly hugged him from her spot on the couch, "Well, you’re pretty good at it.”
★★★★
Nico found himself sitting next to Quinn in the pool room after dinner, watching the others as they played a round, but the two sat in comfortable silence. Jack had retreated to his room, clearly needing space, and Angie was talking to Luke in the living room, so the air seemed thick with a mix of excitement and tension, but Nico couldn’t ignore the weight of his own thoughts.
Quinn, always observant, noticed Nico’s quiet demeanour and tilted his head toward the back porch, “need some air?” he asked. Nico nodded, appreciating the subtle invitation to talk before they stepped outside, the cool night breeze offering a much-needed reprieve from the crowded house.
For a few moments, they stood in silence, just listening to the rustling of the trees and the distant laughter inside.
Finally, Quinn broke the silence. “So… you and Angie.” He said it calmly, but there was a hint of something deeper in his voice, a protectiveness Nico had come to expect from the eldest Hughes brother. Angie Chandler was an honourary Hughes in the eyes of the brothers, which had been clear to anyone who witnessed the dynamic between the four of them.
“Yeah,” Nico replied with a small smile, glancing at Quinn, who looked pleased, “It’s been a while now. We just wanted to make sure it was the right time to tell everyone.” Quinn nodded, his hand in his pockets, and the other held a beer close to his chest as he looked at the gentle ripples on the water just in their backyard.
“I knew, Angie told me, Jack’s not the best at picking up on those things, but I saw it.” Nico chuckled softly. “Yeah, I figured she had said something to you, but Jack’s… Jack.” his voice grew more serious as he continued, “I know this is probably a lot to take in. Angie means a lot to me, and I want you to know that I’m serious about her.”
Quinn stayed quiet for a moment, processing Nico’s words, “She means a lot to all of us,” he finally said, pointing in the window at his brother but also to his friends, past teammates, and a found family that had been formed in the heart of Michigan and continued to grow, his tone steady but laced with concern.
“You make her happy, I can see that. But I also know how hard it’s been for her, you know?” Nico’s brow furrowed, sensing where Quinn was going with this. “I know she went through a lot before,” he said softly, thinking of all the conversations he and Angie had shared about her struggles. “And I’d never do anything to hurt her.”
Quinn’s gaze turned sharper, though not unkind, “I believe you. But you didn’t see her after she didn’t get drafted. She was in a rough place for a long time. It wasn’t just disappointment, it was like… she lost herself for a while.” His voice softened as he continued, “We were all worried about her. I don’t want to see her like that again.”
Nico’s heart tightened at Quinn’s words, understanding the depth of the concern behind them.
“I’ve heard about some of it,” he admitted, “she’s talked to me about how hard that time was for her. And trust me, Quinn, I’m not here to add to her pain. Angie’s strong, but she’s also been through more than most people realize. That’s part of why I love her.” Quinn’s eyes flickered with surprise at Nico’s honesty. The sincerity in his words seemed to reach him, and he gave a small nod of approval.
“I can see you’re good for her,” Quinn said quietly, “and she’s good for you, too. I’m not trying to scare you off. I just needed to know you understand what you’re getting into.” Nico let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding, grateful for Quinn’s words. “I do. And I’m not going anywhere.” He paused, then added, “Angie… she brings out the best in me. I’m a better person when I’m with her. I think we balance each other in a way that makes sense.” Quinn nodded again, his usual stoic expression softening just a bit. “That’s what matters. As long as she’s happy, and you’re both good for each other… that’s all I care about.”
He leaned back against the porch railing, the tension between them easing, “I guess I’m just being overprotective. It’s hard not to be, after everything.” Nico smiled faintly, understanding exactly where Quinn was coming from, “I get it. You’re looking out for her, just like you always have. I would do the same for my sister.”
Quinn glanced at him, his lips twitching upward in the faintest hint of a smile. “Well, then we are on the same page,” he muttered, the smallest trace of humour in his voice, “just… don’t mess this up.” “I won’t,” Nico said, his tone serious again. “I care about her too much to let that happen.” The eldest Hughes nodded, seemingly satisfied with that answer.
For a moment, they stood in comfortable silence again, the tension from earlier now replaced with a quiet understanding. Nico felt a sense of relief wash over him, knowing that he had Quinn’s cautious but genuine approval.
★★★★
Later that night, after the house had quieted down and everyone had retreated to their rooms, Nico and Angie found themselves back in her room, the air between them buzzing with a mixture of emotions. The conversations with both Jack and Quinn had taken a toll on Angie, and Nico could sense the weight of the day still lingering in her tense shoulders.
Nico closed the door softly behind them, locking the rest of the world out. He stepped toward her, his fingers brushing the soft skin of her arm. “You okay?” he asked quietly, his voice gentle as his eyes searched hers for any sign of discomfort.
Angie turned toward him, her eyes filled with exhaustion and longing. “Yeah,” she whispered, leaning into his touch. “It’s just been a long day.” She pouted slightly as he nodded along with her words. The doings of the day were emotionally draining, and that isn't even taking into consideration the flight he had taken just the night before to make his return to the States.
Nico wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as he pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and then one to the supple skin of her cheek. “I know,” he murmured, “but we’re here now. Just us.”
His words hung in the air, and Angie found herself relaxing in his embrace. She tilted her head up to look at him, her eyes tracing the familiar lines of his face, admiring the deep dimples that were poking at his cheeks as he smiled fondly at her, and finally. Landing on the soft curve of his lips. She rose up on her toes and kissed him softly, her lips lingering against his as a quiet sigh escaped her.
Nico responded with a gentle intensity, his hands sliding to her waist, pulling her even closer as he walked them further into the room and closer to the end of the bed. The kiss deepened as their bodies pressed together, the day’s tension melting away with each passing second. Angie’s fingers found their way into his hair, tugging lightly at the strands on the back of his neck as she lost herself in the feeling of him, the warmth of his body grounding her in the moment.
He pulled back just enough to catch his breath, his forehead resting against hers as he whispered, “I love you, Ange.” His words were a quiet promise, filled with all the care and affection he felt for her. “I love you too, Nico,” she breathed, her voice soft but certain.
Without another word, he backed her up to the exact edge of the bed, his hands gently sliding down to the hem of her shirt, lifting it slowly as his eyes met hers in a silent question. Angie nodded, giving him permission as she raised her arms, allowing him to pull the fabric over her head. "You're beautiful," he mumbled to himself as his hands found their way to her hips again, his thumbs tracing gentle circles against her skin as he kissed her once more, slower this time, savouring the moment before lowering her onto the mattress.
Angie’s fingers worked at the buttons of her shorts and then back up to pull his shirt over his head, her hands moving with a newfound urgency as she pulled the fabric over his head to give her a clear view of his broad shoulders and toned chest, letting it fall out of sight and out of mind. Their movements were fluid and unhurried, Nico laid down on the mattress beside her and flipped her over her to be on top.
Their bodies tangled together on the sheets, there was no more hesitation as she pressed a multitude of kisses to his stubble-covered jaw, never getting enough of the summer beard. A laugh left his lips as he pinched her side, which caused her to jump a little, her eyes a little hazy as she pulled away to let him examine her slightly bruised lips. Their touches became more deliberate as his thumb ran over her bottom lips to remind her of where she was before she leaned in once again to press a gentle kiss to his lips.
This moment had been one the two had been dreaming of since she left him in Switzerland a few months back. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she took in just how lucky she was to have him back in her arms and under her.
Nico’s hands roamed over her body, every touch sending sparks of warmth through her as she arched her back at the sensation of her hands on her skin, pulling him closer with each passing second.
"What do you need?"
Angie’s breath hitched as Nico’s quiet question washed over her, his hands still tracing the soft lines of her back. She bit her lip, her heart swelling with emotion, feeling the full weight of his affection and care. For a moment, she couldn’t speak—couldn’t quite find the words to express the overwhelming mix of love and relief she felt having him so close again.
This feeling of bliss was something she had been yearning for, and it all hit her at once how lucky she was to be loved by someone like Nico Hishcier.
"I need you," she whispered, her voice barely audible but filled with certainty as her hands ran over the slightly sweaty skin of his shoulders, "just you."
Her tears had slowed, but the emotion still welled up inside her, raw and real, as she raked her teeth over his skin before pressing a sloppy kiss to his collarbone before he flipped them over so he hovered over her. Nico gently wiped a stray tear from her cheek, his thumb brushing against her skin tenderly as he gazed at her, his own eyes full of understanding.
He kissed her again, slowly, and it was as if time itself slowed to match the rhythm of the moment they were sharing. There was nothing rushed about their movements—just a shared intimacy that had been building for so long.
Both of them just relished in the feeling of the other, uncensored love that had been building up for the past few weeks.
Angie’s fingers traced the lines of his jaw, memorizing the familiar contours as if seeing them for the first time again. Nico’s body responded to her in kind, his hands exploring her skin as if reassuring her that this moment was real.
His whispered reassurances—his soft, almost breathless declarations of love—filled the quiet room, surrounding her like a protective blanket as he unclipped her bra and pressed gentle kisses to her exposed breasts. Grinning up at her at every noise that dared leave her lips.
He strategically pressed kisses down the plumpness of her breast, not being too afraid to tease her before the kisses dispersed down her abdomen. With each gentle kiss came a quiet gasp, her fingers roughly pulling at his hair for any sort of grounding that she could find before his lips travelled lower while whispering her name in between kisses.
Nico’s eyes met hers once more, dark with affection and need, and he hovered above her for just a second, his thumb tracing a line along her cheek. "You’re everything to me," he whispered, his voice husky yet filled with certainty as he got off the bed and kneeled at the edge, pulling her gently closer till one of her legs rested over his shoulder.
"What are you-" she propped herself up on her elbows, aching for his to be closer before she felt him nudge her back down and cut off her question to lay on her back before he gently bit into the skin of her tanned thigh. "Shh, just let me love you," he mumbled into her skin before his finger hooked around her lace panties and slowly removed them before licking a single strip up her core, eliciting a moan from her as she gave up any argument that remained on her tongue.
He smirked into her before continuing his movements, his hands moved higher, brushing against her hips as he pressed deeper until she interlocked one of hers with his, his soft groans vibrating against her skin, causing her to cry out in pleasure. His pace quickened his determination to make her come completely undone, clear in every calculated move as he focused on bringing her to the height of her orgasm.
Angie’s free hand flew to his hair, pulling at the strands as she felt the tension in her core tighten, her breath catching in her throat. "Nico," she whimpered, her voice breathless and needy.
He hummed in response, his free hand moved to pin her hips down to stop her restless movements as he pushed her further toward the brink. His name became a chant on her lips, a stream of pleas and praises danced on the tip of her tongue.
And then, as he pulled away slightly and continued making steady circles with his thumb, she shattered beneath him, her body trembling with release. Nico pressed a soft kiss to the inside of her thigh, his smile wide and satisfied as he slowly made his way back up her body as she slowly came back to reality. He brushed a few strands of hair from her sweat-dampened forehead, his lips meeting hers in a tender kiss that tasted of love and worship.
Angie, still breathless and trembling from the intensity of the moment, pulled him down into her arms, kissing him back with as much passion as she could muster. "You... are incredible," she murmured, her voice shaky but filled with admiration. Nico grinned, pressing his forehead to hers. "I just want to make you happy," he whispered. "You do," Angie replied, her fingers tracing the outline of his jaw once more. "More than you know."
She sat up a little as he left the room to get her a cloth and some new clothes to replace the ones currently on the floor, "do you want anything in return?" she asked with wide eyes as she watched his dot after her. He shook his head gently as he returned from the bathroom and handed her a glass of water, "maybe just some sleep," he said coyly as she nodded. “Sleep sounds perfect,” she murmured, her voice soft and laced with gratitude.
She shifted in bed, pulling the fresh clothes he had brought her over her body with a sense of comfort that only Nico seemed to bring her. Nico climbed back into bed beside her, the quiet rustle of the sheets the only sound in the peaceful room as he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close as they settled under the blankets.
“Thank you,” she whispered, her fingers tracing small patterns on his chest as her eyes began to flutter closed, “for everything." Nico pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head. “Always, Ange. I’m not going anywhere.”
★★★★
The soft morning filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow over Angie's face, which caused her to slowly stir awake, still tucked against Nico’s side. She blinked a few times, the warmth of his body next to hers reminding her of the night before as her hand softly splayed over his chest before she pressed a kiss to his skin.
Nico stretched beside her, his arm lazily draping over her waist as he blinked at her with a sleepy smile. "Morning," he whispered, his voice thick with sleep. "Morning," Angie replied, smiling back at him.
"I’m going to make breakfast. You want to help?" she sat up slowly and shivered at the loss of warmth from his skin. Nico grinned, sitting up beside her and running a hand through his bed head, "of course."
They made their way to the surprisingly clean kitchen together, the house still quiet, with everyone else still asleep after the night of drinking most of them had done. Angie moved around the kitchen, pulling out ingredients while Nico stayed close, helping her with anything she needed.
She quietly hummed and danced around the kitchen, Nico quietly watching her in awe as she swayed her hips to the music in her head, grinning widely as she caught his stare and grew bashful at his loving attention. As they continued to move around the kitchen, Nico’s hand would occasionally brush against hers, and they’d exchange small, playful smiles, completely wrapped up in their own little world.
From the stairs, Jack watched them.
His arms were crossed over his chest, his eyes narrowing slightly as he observed the two of them and how naturally they interacted with one another. He wasn’t sure how he felt about it all—their closeness, the way Angie smiled around Nico, how Nico looked at her like she was the only person in the room.
It was almost offputting to see, especially knowing that he hadn't suspected a thing.
Angie caught sight of Jack out of the corner of her eye as she flipped a pancake. She tensed for a moment but tried to focus on finishing breakfast. Jack didn’t move, but his stare felt heavy, and Angie could feel the tension building in the room again.
Once Nico stepped away to grab a plate from the other side of the kitchen, Jack took his chance. He walked down the stairs, his footsteps heavy as he approached Angie.
"Morning, Jack," she greeted him warmly, wiping her hands on a towel. "Want some breakfast?" He didn’t respond immediately, his eyes flickering from the food to her before he cleared his throat, "actually… can we talk for a second?"
Angie paused, her brow furrowing slightly in concern as she set the towel down and wiped any remaining wetness from her palms on her pyjama pants, "yeah, of course." She glanced around to make sure no one else was around before following him to the boot room just off the kitchen, where they could have a little more privacy.
Jack leaned against the wall, arms crossed, but his posture was more thoughtful than defensive. Angie stood across from him, waiting patiently, sensing he was trying to figure out how to start.
After a few seconds, Jack finally spoke. "Look, I’m really happy for you and Nico," he began, his voice steady but a little hesitant. "But… I’m also kind of worried. About us." Angie blinked in surprise, but she didn’t interrupt, letting him continue.
"You’ve been my best friend for as long as I can remember," Jack went on, his blue eyes meeting hers, "you get me better than anyone else. And I guess… I’m scared that now that you’re with Nico, things are gonna change between us." He gave a small, almost self-deprecating laugh, but there was a seriousness in his words. "And… what if things don’t work out with you and him? I know how these things can go, and if it does, I’m gonna have to pick sides. And you know I’m always gonna choose you, Ange. Every time."
Angie felt a lump form in her throat as she listened to him. She hadn’t fully realized how much Jack had been holding in, they had been through nearly everuthing togetehr in the past seven years, and the thought that a relationship would cost them this closeness was enough to make her cry.
She stepped closer, reaching out to place a hand on his arm, "Jack," she started softly, her voice full of emotion, "nothing is going to change between us. You are my best friend, and you always will be. Nico or no Nico." She gave his arm a gentle squeeze, "I’m always going to be here for you, and I’m not going anywhere. I can love Nico and still be your best friend."
Jack looked down at her hand, then back up to her face, his expression softening a little.
"And as for the other stuff," Angie continued, "I get it. I get why you're worried. But Nico and I… we’re really good together. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but we’re happy. And even if something were to happen… you wouldn’t have to choose sides. It wouldn’t be like that." Jack uncrossed his arms, running a hand through his messy hair with a sigh. "I just don’t want to lose you again, Ange, especially if it's because of a boy." "You won’t," she promised, her voice firm. "Not now, not ever."
There was a beat of silence between them before Jack finally nodded, some of the tension easing from his shoulders. "Okay," he said quietly, "Good."
Jack quietly peaked his head around the corner of the room to the kitchen, laughing at the awkwardness of Nico as he stood in the kitchen, aimlessly waiting for Angie to return and eat with him.
"cap looks a little lost in there without you," he said smugly as she smiled, cheeks a pink colour as she peaked around the corner to see exactly what he had seen. "Be ready, you would all be lost without me," she laughed and patted his shoulder while looking back at her best friend.
His face softened as he looked back at her, the edges of a smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, you’re probably right," Jack admitted, the tension between them dissolving into something more familiar, more comfortable. He reached out, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. "I guess we all need you more than we’d like to admit."
She looked at him with a pout at his moment of kind words before she pulled him in for a hug, "now go enjoy breakfast with him," she pulled away with a grin that soon dropped as he finished their emotional moment with a "and just an FYI, we share a wall," Jack said, smirking mischievously as he raised an eyebrow.
Angie's cheeks immediately flushed with embarrassment, "Jack!" she hissed, giving him a shove as she hid her face in hands. He laughed, clearly enjoying her reaction, before throwing his hands up in mock surrender, "Just saying! Maybe keep the volume down next time."
She shook her head, trying to hide her mortification behind a smile, "You’re the worst." "Yeah, but I’m still your best friend," he shot back with a grin, already turning to head toward the dining room, "now, go make sure he doesn’t burn the eggs or something."
Angie rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the fond smile that tugged at her lips as she made her way back to Nico. She was still a little flustered from Jack’s teasing, but the warmth of his reassurance—and his relentless humor—had done wonders to calm her nerves.
As she entered the kitchen, Nico looked up, instantly sensing the shift in her mood. "Everything okay?" he asked, his brow furrowed in concern. "Yeah," she said, a soft laugh escaping her. "Just Jack being… well, Jack."
Nico chuckled, clearly familiar with Jack’s antics. "What did he say?" "He heard us last night," she whispered, her face a bright pink as she leaned into his shoulder, earning an amused grin from Nico. He leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to her temple, “Noted."
And with that, they focused back on breakfast, the embarrassment withered away as she relaxed at the thought that for now everything was okay!

They Overhear You Wanna Break Up
Quinn Hughes: His heart would skip a beat if he overheard you wanting to break up. The room would spin as he's hit with a wave of hurt and shock. He'd freeze, a mixture of confusion and pain rushing through him. He would feel an overwhelming wave of sadness, and he would feel like he could cry. His mind would race, trying to process the realization that the person he cares deeply about is thinking of leaving him.
Jack Hughes: He would be very shocked, he's not sure if he would react in an angry manner at first or if it was more passive, but he would eventually come to his senses. He wouldn't know what to say or do, as he doesn't see why someone would want to break up with him, but he would be open to communicating with you about why you want to break up.
Luke Hughes: He would be left shocked and hurt, his mind is flooded with thoughts of insecurity and wondering what he could have done differently. "why would they want to break up with me? Have I done something to cause this?" He would feel saddened and abandoned, questioning his own self-worth.
Nico Hischier: His mind would go blank for a moment to process the information, then he would have a shocked face and his heart would immediately drop, he would feel a pit in his stomach and his whole body would tense up as he felt a sense of dread and sadness. He might also feel a little nauseous and have trouble breathing. He would probably ask you to repeat what you said just to make sure he heard you right. He would be in complete disbelief.
Timo Meier: His eyes would widen in shock at the words. He feels his heart drop in his chest and a cold chill runs down his spine. He would struggle to find his voice, stuttering out a soft "what?" as panic began to set in. His mind races, trying to make sense of what he just heard. Did he hear incorrectly? Did you truly mean those words? Confusion and hurt flood his mind, making it difficult to think or speak coherently. He stands frozen in place, searching your face for any sign that this is just a terrible joke.
John Marino: He would feel heartbroken. He'd want to know what went wrong and if there was anything he could do to fix it. Maybe he didn't give you enough attention? He'd want to talk to you in person, face-to-face, so he could look you in the eyes and really see how serious you are.
Kirby Dach: He'd be heartbroken and confused if he overheard you wanted to break up. He'd feel betrayed and devastated by the news. He'd have so many questions running through his head like "Why?" and "Where did it go wrong?" He'd try to stay calm and ask you to talk about it, but deep down I'd be hurt and trying not to break down crying.
Juraj Slafkovsky: He would feel hurt and betrayed if he overheard you say you wanted to break up with him. His heart would sink, and he might feel shocked or confused by your decision. He would also feel a sense of helplessness and uncertainty about what the future holds. In that moment, he might feel an intense urge to try to change your mind or find a way to make the relationship work, but ultimately, he would have to accept the decision and try to move forward.
Arber Xhekaj: He would be pretty devastated, to say the least. He would want to talk to you and try to figure out what caused your relationship to end. He would be surprised, angry, and hurt. However, depending on your reasons for ending, he would possibly feel some form of understanding and closure.
Cole Caufield: First, he'll feel a surge of shock and disbelief, as it was the last thing he expected to hear. Followed by a wave of hurt, as he processes the implications of your words. He can feel his heart racing, and he might start to cry. He'll also probably feel confused, as it seems unexpected and he didn't see it coming at all. He'll begin to question if he's done something wrong, and start to feel insecure about himself.
Trevor Zegras: If he overheard you wanting to break up, he would feel devastated. It would be like a punch to the gut, making his heartache and his stomach twist into knots. He'd feel a rush of emotions flood over him - hurt, anger, confusion, and most of all, sadness. He'd wonder what he did wrong, why you didn't feel they could work things out, and if there was a chance to change your mind. Overall, it would be an overwhelming feeling of loss and abandonment.
Jamie Drysdale: His reaction to overhearing you want to break up would be a mix of disbelief, hurt, and disappointment. He'd feel blindsided as if a rug had been pulled out from under him. Initially, he'd struggle to accept what he heard, questioning whether he misunderstood or heard incorrectly. He'd likely feel a rush of mixed emotions, ranging from sadness and regret to perhaps even anger. The idea of losing the person he cares for would be devastating, leaving him with a sense of emptiness and uncertainty about the future.

For the past two months, you’ve felt your chest tighten and your throat well up whenever you went to bed. The other side of the mattress felt absent and empty, like the space was waiting idly for a person who would never return.
But today felt different. You saw him for the first time since your breakup. His arm was slung around Nico’s shoulder at the cafe downtown as they talked about their next game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. You didn’t feel like curling up into a ball and rolling out of there before he could see you. No, you felt like breaking into a full-on sob, letting the tears rack through your body and shake you up until you were at his feet, begging him to take you back.
Yet you stood there and you watched Jack talk with Nico, and you clung to your chest, and you stretched the suffocating collar of your scratchy sweater, and you watched him meet your eyes—and you watched him look away. It was like your two-year-relationship was never a thing, as if he had erased all memories of you from his mind. It was like you were no one to him.
Looking around, the cafe seemed smaller, as if the walls were closing in on you and you had to get out quickly before you were trapped.
You sprinted back to your apartment in record time, and upon opening the door, your back hit the wooden slab as you slid down to the ground, pulling out your phone from your pocket. Your hands were shaking, your chest was rising up and down without fail, and your vision was blurred with the amount of tears falling down your pale cheeks.
You waited two rings until your grandmother picked up. She was your safe haven for all things in life. She always knew exactly what wise words to say, and while she was thousands of miles away, you imagined her stroking your hair as you laid your head down on her lap, asking her how life was so easy for her. She would say that her life was everything but that and then go on a long speech about her younger days. That was all you needed now, and all you wanted in the future: to have her, to hear her advice and life lessons, and to pretend she’s still there stroking your hair, wiping your tears, and humming her perfect girl to sleep.
“Nonna?” your voice was shaky and tired, and she could sense it immediately. You could hear her tell your grandfather that she would be in the bedroom if he needed her.
“Sweets? Are you alright?” You missed her voice. It felt like you were calling her less and less nowadays. You hoped she would forgive you for that.
“I,” you stammered, clinging to the silver pendant around your neck. “I feel like every time something good happens to me, it all just…fades away and I hate feeling this way. I hate it, but I don’t know what to do,” you whispered. It all just felt impossible, like feeling happy held this small entity in the back of your mind, telling you that it could all be over in just a matter of seconds. You felt that in your relationship with Jack, you felt that when you saw him earlier, you’ve been feeling that way ever since you walked out of his life.
Being with him wasn’t a solution, but not being with him also wasn’t a solution to your problem. You were stuck and you were clueless as to what to do next.
“Oh, honey,” Nonna’s voice was soft and full of empathy. “Life has a way of tossing us into turbulent seas, but remember that storms eventually pass, and the sun always rises again. You’re feeling the weight of loss now, but that doesn’t mean happiness won’t find its way back to you.”
“But that’s what I’m afraid of. I’m afraid of the happiness, of finding someone new and getting hurt again.” You paused, sniffling before asking, “How can I tell if I’m in the right relationship? I feel like…like you’re supposed to know that type of stuff but I’ve never felt that, or maybe I’ve felt that too much and it’s never been true. I just… I don’t know. I really don’t know.”

we all have our secrets - jack hughes
summary: sometimes secrets go on just a little too long
word count: 1703
note: don’t mind me, just being extraordinarily late to @callsign-denmark’s birthday bingo.
bingo squares: secret romance + “please stay” + captain’s sister + pining + engagement
Emilie stood awkwardly behind Nico as they walked into the party—she was a reluctant plus one to an engagement party of people she barely knew. Nico, upon her unexpected arrival in New Jersey, had taken it upon himself to make sure she didn’t spend all her time sitting in her room by herself. Emilie appreciated the thought; she just didn’t have much of anything in common with Nico’s teammates and their families aside from the assortment of Swiss teammates he had.
And Jack.
There was also Jack.
Until Emilie saw somebody she knew, she stood by Nico’s side as he did his captainly duties and greeted everybody he knew—if anybody in the room didn’t know who he was, they’d be forgiven for thinking he was the groom-to-be.
She shook hands with the people who introduced themselves, gave polite hugs to the people she’d already met, and blended into the background when Nico stopped to have an actual conversation with someone she only vaguely recognised. Nico would remind her when they got home that he’d like her to make an effort, that he didn’t want to be the only person she knew in the city.
Halfway through her first drink, Emilie’s eyes drifted around the room, drawn to the main doors of the function room, and locked onto Jack as he entered. He was already looking at her. Her smile was instant if not subdued. Despite the tugging she felt in her body, she kept her feet firmly planted so that Nico wouldn’t have any reason to ask questions.
Jack had no issues making his way directly to her, though, under the guise of greeting Nico.
“Come with me to get a drink?” Jack asked Emilie, already guiding her to the open bar with his hand hovering over her lower back.
Neither of them said another word until they were at the bar and well out of earshot of Nico.
Jack leant in close, his voice hot against her ear as he whispered, “Holy shit you’re so hot.”
Emilie kept her attention on the bartender, trying to flag him down, even though she knew her cheeks were flaming red and anybody who saw the colour with Jack pressed so close to her back would be able to guess the sordid things Jack was continuing to whisper.
They tucked themselves away at a low table in a corner once they had a couple of drinks in hand, sitting a respectable distance from each other but still with their heads tilted towards each other to hear each other over the music and loud conversations happening nearby. Under the table, Emilie hooked her foot around Jack’s ankle because her desire to hold his hand couldn’t be satiated.
“I think they’re about to do speeches,” Nico said, catching Emilie’s attention. She tried not to look caught out at how close she was to Jack, but Nico didn’t seem to notice.
He passed a champagne flute to her, Jonas handing one to Jack, and they all stood to listen to the speeches. With everyone else standing in front of them, Jack’s fingers brushed against Emilie’s and let their pinkies link.
Keeping their relationship a secret hadn’t been the intention. Neither of them had specifically voiced out loud that they weren’t going to tell Nico—it had just been a given because when they’d slept together for the first time it was just supposed to be sex and Emilie didn’t exactly like the idea of her brother knowing who she was sleeping with.
As it became more and more like a relationship, it never came up and, three months later, it very much felt like it was getting too long.
Luckily, Nico didn’t ask questions about where Emilie disappeared to when she wasn’t sitting around at home, so she never had to lie to him. She wondered, sometimes, what excuses Jack made when she was over, and Nico asked to hang out. It just felt like tempting fate to ask.
Cuddling up to Jack was so easy, sitting between his legs and watching him play a video game. It wasn’t her favourite pastime by any means—the story of Hitman was fascinating even if the gameplay wasn’t her cup of tea—but it was easy to lean back against his chest and be near him.
“I should think about going,” she said reluctantly as she pulled out her phone and realised it was after eight.
Jack dropped the controller onto the coffee table, his arms wrapping easily around Emilie’s waist, and holding her close. Emilie melted into him, tilting her head when he nudged it, letting him press a kiss to her neck.
“Please stay.”
How could she say no?
The worst part of it all was that Nico and Jack were best friends. It was great having Jack around; it was just hard when he was at the apartment to spend time with Nico and not her. At least not exclusively.
Nico didn’t have any issues with Emilie crashing his hang out time with Jack, whether it was watching television or just listening to music and vibing. She drew the line at watching them play FIFA, though, because there wasn’t even a plot to follow.
If Jack came over for dinner Luke was never far behind, and the four of them ate whatever had been decided on. Emilie was exhausted, truthfully, at the effort it took to not stare at Jack the entire time—he had far fewer qualms about that, though neither Nico nor Luke ever mentioned it—and she longed to be able to hold his hand or just be pressed up against his side.
“Em and I will get the dishes tonight,” Jack said when the table was cleared of food.
Emilie put on a show of being affronted that he’d volunteered her to clean up, but when they were tucked away in the kitchen, away from prying eyes, she let Jack sweep her into a hug and breathed him in.
“I missed you,” she sighed, making sure to keep her voice low. Jack hummed in agreement.
They did actually wash the dishes—loaded the dishwasher, at least—always standing close and always with unsubtle touches that would give them away if either Nico or Luke walked in.
The unspoken secrecy kept going, even as Emilie spent more and more nights at Jack’s. While he hadn’t asked directly, Nico’s line of questioning was getting less subtle. He asked if he should expect her home whenever she left, instead of waiting for her to text him after she’d left, and he started talking about things he’d done with former girlfriends as if he was trying to give her ideas for dates.
His lines of questioning still never had her lie outright, for which she was thankful.
The fact that he and Jack had almost the exact same schedule made it incredibly easy for her to navigate the apartment building without being seen. By Nico, anyway. One of their neighbours absolutely knew what was going on, watching Emilie slink between the apartments at all hours of the day.
“Did you forget to do any washing?” Nico asked, laughing when he saw her on the couch after coming home from a road trip.
“No?” Emilie responded with a furrowed brow.
“That’s a Devils’ hoodie.”
Emilie held out her arms, looking down at the Devils’ logo splashed across her chest—she frowned at it harder and then, out of pure instinct, rushed to cross her arms. When she looked back at Nico, it was clear he’d seen exactly what she had.
“That wasn’t a thirteen, was it?”
Her eyes fell shut, knowing it was a direct question she couldn’t lie to him. Lying by omission had been hard enough.
“No.”
“Jack’s who you’ve been spending all your time with?”
“Yes.”
Nico nodded once, his face impossible to read, and disappeared down the hall to his bedroom. Emilie sighed to herself as she looked back down at the 86 printed onto the hoodie. She didn’t even know when she’d picked it up from Jack’s, much less why she hadn’t realised what it was when she’d pulled it over her head that morning.
She sent a quick text to Jack—‘Nico knows. I’ll call you after I’ve talked to him’—and took a steadying breath before following Nico down the hall and knocking gently on his door frame.
“Yeah?”
Peaking around the corner, Emilie felt her heart in her throat. Nico didn’t make her nervous, typically, but the unchartered territory she was approaching had her uncertain.
He didn’t seem mad, so that was a relief. His face was contorted, though, confusion and hurt displayed for the entire world to see.
“I didn’t mean to keep it from you,” Emilie said, entering the room and standing at the end of Nico’s bed. His hands stilled on the clothes in his open suitcase. “It wasn’t even supposed to be anything and then it became something and… I’m in way over my head here.”
“You’re telling me. Did you think I’d be mad? That I tell you I couldn’t? Because he’s my best friend and I can’t think of anybody I’d rather you date—and I think you’d be good for him, too. I just don’t know why you wouldn’t tell me.”
“Can I tell you now?” she asked hopefully. “I’d like to tell you. I really like him.”
Nico’s face shifted into a small smile, the underlying hurt not entirely disappearing, and he told Emilie to sit down while he unpacked.
“Tell me.”
The knock at the apartment door had Emilie running to it because she no longer had to be subdued about Jack’s arrival. She threw her arms around his neck as soon as she saw him, absolutely catching Luke in the head with a stray elbow as she did so, judging by the pained noise he made.
“Love that this is something I have to look forward to, now,” Luke grumbled, pushing past them and their doorway make out session.
Jack smiled against Emilie’s mouth.
They held hands as they walked into the apartment, Emilie’s heart swelling when Jack’s fingers entwined with hers instead of pulling away.

Once More | Jack Hughes
summary: when Quinn invites you back to the lake house it forces you to reconvene with your ex. What happens when Jack misses you just as much as you miss him?
trope: exes to lovers
request: yes/no
warnings: minimal swearing
word count: 1.98k
authors note: I have been in a Hughes boy mood since yesterday so it only felt right giving another one of the boys some attention. Also in honour of me getting my Hughes jersey today this was only fair. Is it wrong of me to say that I sorta hated this one, like soft Jack is not my strong suit. If you want to check out more of the 500 celly you can do so here!
Being back there you knew it was going to be tough on your heart.
Quinn had invited you to the family lake house for the summer. Everything told you that you should just say no, but when the boy reminded you of the promise you had given him prior to the start of your relationship with Jack you knew you had no choice but to go.
You had started being friends with Quinn during college and everyone thought that the two of you would become an item. It was hard not to think that when he spent every second away from the rink hanging out with you.
When he brought you back to the lake house that summer Ellen and Jim swore the announcement of your relationship would come in the upcoming days. Of course it never did and instead you caught the eye of the middle Hughes boy, Jack instead.
Quinn wasn’t stupid, he saw the way you looked at Jack and how Jack looked at you.
So it was no surprise that by December of your junior year Jack asked you out. At first you were hesitant because of what Quinn might think yet when Quinn’s only condition to the relationship was that you two would always remain friends, you couldn’t help but agree.
That was the start of easily the best three years of your life. The relationship was great, you graduated from Umich and found the job of your dreams in New Jersey so you even got the chance to move in with Jack.
There was no doubt about it, Jack adored you. The goal dedications, the mentions in interviews, the speeding back from the airport so he could see you before you fell asleep, hell even the sweaty hugs after home games when he’d pick you up and swing you around. All of it was there, and from the outside you two truly looked happy.
The argument had gone on for at least ten minutes by now “do you really want me to miss boys night?” Jack groaned as he crossed his arms.
Of course you wanted him to, you missed your boyfriend and it felt like it should have been your night “if you really want to go then go.” You hoped that your comment would knock some sense into him but instead it just went over his head.
He went to grab his shoes as you decided to drop the bombshell of news “I got a job in California,” you announced as you clenched your fists.
It made the hockey player stop in his tracks “I’m gonna take it.” Up until that moment you really didn’t know if you wanted to take the job, not whilst Jack was still at home.
The devils player swore the world stopped when you told him that “what about us?” Was all he could get out as his chest grew heavy.
You wanted to roll your eyes as you ran your fingers through your hair “you aren’t here half of the time so it’s not like you’re going to notice me being gone.” You pointed out as you shrugged reminding him of the fact that he was spending less of his time in the garden state at the apartment than he did before.
However your comment caused him to scoff “you want me to not work anymore?” He shot back as he pursed his lips int a fine line.
Tears began to well in your eyes “I want you to love me, but I don’t think you’re capable of that anymore.” Your voice and your heart broke as you watched him remain silent.
The sound of his phone pulled your attentions away from each other “Nico is downstairs,” Jack sighed as he read the message the captain sent him saying that he had arrived.
Jack reached for his hat “you leave right now Jack and this is the end of us.” You warned having enough of being second place to hockey in Jacks life.
“I’ll see you around y/n.”
That was four months ago and you had been a wreck. Sure the job in California was a good distraction. You made new friends, Trevor and Alex occasionally checked up on you as they’d visit your office hoping you were doing as poorly as Jack was. Sure it was fucked up but their best friend was a mess so part of them believed that they wouldn’t have to feel as bad for him if you were in the same shoes.
Trevor didn’t notice how well you hid it but when Alex showed up to your apartment with a box of pizza and your favourite tub of ice cream you just broke down in front of him.
You would have liked to say that pulling into the driveway of the lake house you were feeling okay, but in reality you were ready to drive away and pretend you missed your flight.
That was no longer an option though when you were caught “y/n!” Quinn called out as he had walked out to grab something from his car.
Your best friend felt his heart grow warm at the sight of you “can’t believe you’re here.” He mumbled as he pulled you into a hug “made a promise.” You sighed knowing that he was the only thing keeping you there.
It seemed that Quinn didn’t notice how uncomfortable you were when he grabbed your bag from the trunk “the boys are going to be so excited to see you.” Your timing was in your opinion terrible as the boys were all sat on the couch playing an intense game of Mario Kart.
Cole seemed to be winning as Alex threw a pillow in his direction to distract him “don’t tell me you’ve lost your touch Turcotte.” You smiled as the eldest of boys avoided the pillow.
Dating Jack often meant you were used a wall whenever the boys were being stupid, the amount of water balloons you had been hit by were countless.
Three of the four boys seemed excited to see you as they paused the game to come hug you. But Jack remained glued to the couch, mainly because he didn’t think he’d ever see you again. Each time he played in LA he’d call his brother begging for your address because Jack was desperate to see you.
Ever since he walked out of the apartment he regretted that decision, Jack wanted you in his life, more often than not he needed you in it.
An awkward smile was on your face as you locked eyes with him “hey,” your voice was soft when everyone looked between you two.
If you were told that Jack looked as drained as you felt you would have sworn that people were lying to you. But low and behold the dark circles that seemed etched onto his face reminded you of how he was during his rookie season. Sleep deprived and broken making you feel guilty about leaving him.
Yes it was the best thing for your relationship that seemingly lost its spark. Yet it hurt because you still loved Jack just as much as you did when you believed you were crazy about him.
Quinn didn’t let your eyes linger on his brother for long “I’ll show you where you can sleep.” He offered as he placed his hand on your shoulder.
It reminded you of the fact that this was your first time at the brothers lake house that you wouldn’t be sharing a room with Jack “okay,” you nodded as you forced a smile onto your lips.
The next few hours were awkward, even the way the setting sun painted the skys a range of oranges to pinks couldn’t shake your thoughts of disappointment. You never expected to be best friends with Jack after you broke up but what you didn’t think was that it would be so awkward between you two “just go talk to her!” Quinn groaned as he noticed Jack stood by the sliding glass door as he stared at you.
You were sat on the swinging bench that you built with Jim one weekend as you were desperate to have one and he had the tool knowledge “what do I even say to her?” Jack had gone through all the different scenarios in his head and each time he got to you nothing came out of his mouth.
The Canucks player sighed “maybe start with giving her a refill,” he proposed as he noticed that the glass bottle beside you was empty.
When Jack didn’t move Quinn knew he had to say something more “all she wanted was to know that you love her.” The older Hughes boy explained as you had let the reason why you were so hurt slip one night to Quinn.
That message seemed to knock some sense into Jack as he nodded “thanks bro,” he mumbled as he pulled his brother into a hug.
Quinn wanted to laugh at his brothers gesture “just no breaking her heart for a second time.” The Canucks player warned as he pointed his finger at the devils player who nodded.
As much as Quinn wanted to be nosy and watch the interaction he instead decided to leave in fear of you kissing the middle Hughes “can I sit here?” Jack asked as he held out one of the drinks in his hand to you.
It should have taken you longer but you were quick to nod “sure,” you shifted over to the side so he could sit with you.
This was the first time that Jack got to look at you properly, your hair had grown and you seemed to pick up a tan in California “how have you been?” You opened the top of the bottle before you took a sip from it.
It made Jacks heart break “I love you,” he blurted out taking you by surprise.
Not often did he leave you speechless but this was a time he needed you to remain quiet “I miss the sound of you singing along to your playlists when I come home from practice. Even how I find your hair in the weirdest places!” That comment made you laugh “but fuck I miss you so much that I don’t want to be home anymore.” Tears formed in his eyes as he scanned your face for any type of reaction.
You wanted to jump into his arms, truly you did “I can’t move back yet,” you confessed as you had another year on your contract before you could transfer.
Jacks hand reached out for yours “I know baby,” his thumb rubbed against your skin as he smiled enjoying the feeling of your skin on his.
The reservations still remained in your head “I’m fine being second to hockey but I can’t be third to your friends again.” You chewed at the inside of your cheek as you tried not to cry.
The devils player used his other hand to cup your cheek forcing you to look at him “the moment you aren’t number one in my life I’ll let Luke hit me.” Another laugh left your lips as Luke was always stronger than his brother, especially over recent years.
Now seemed like the right time to just throw caution to the wind for you “I love you too,” you smiled when the boy wrapped his arms around you pulling you onto his lap.
Jack continue to place kisses against your face causing you to throw your head back with giggles “Jacky!” You squealed finally getting a moment to breathe.
“You’re my world baby, and I won’t let you forget it.”

imagine Stella first telling Nico about rutger🥹 you mentioned they’re friends and text often. I feel like he’d be so happy for her and just so sweet, esp knowing about her obvious crush, hed be so happy (but also v protective) at first :’)
au masterlist — you can find asks under #💌stellahughes!
So I picture Stella coming to see Luke’s first game as a devil (stell and rut were already talking by then) and maybe after the game they all go out for dinner, Nico notices Stella was smiling pretty big as she texted someone on her phone. Nico knows that look, Stella has a crushh 🥰
Nico doesn’t remember hearing Luke or Jack complain about Stella liking someone — because they definitely would have if they known, so that means they don’t know. Nico would sit next to her and Stella would happily shut off her phone and start talking with the captain. After seeing Stella check her phone again for like the fifth time so see if they texted her back, it’s confirmed. Nico asks who it is, and Stella realizes she’s been caught when she sees the cheeky smile nico gives her.
No one knows about rutger besides lily and Carmen, but stella couldn’t lie to Nico and say it’s no one, I mean like you’ve seen nicos puppy eyes and stella is surely not a strong soldier when Nico is involved…so she tells him, everything!
Nico couldn’t help but smile as he listened to Stella tell him all about rutger and how sweet he’s been. Nico wasn’t a fan of keeping it a secret from Jack and Luke since she wasn’t ready for anyone to know, but he couldn’t say no to Stella, he also wasn’t a strong soldier against Stella’s puppy eyes.
Nico will text and ask her how her and rutger are, making sure he’s still being a complete gentleman. Because if he wasn’t he’d have to catch a flight and teach rutger a lesson. He’s obviously very protective of Stella, and he’s always making sure that she’s being treated like the princess she is.
Nico is very happy when Stella and rutger make there relationship, grateful that he doesn’t have to keep it a secret anymore.
Bonus xoxo
I can totally see Nico being disappointed at Jack with how he’s handling the situation when he finds out about his sister and rut, Nico is very upset at how Jack is being towards Stella and rut.
Also omg Jack and Nico angst when Jack finds out Nico has known the whole time?!?!?!

⛧° 。 ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⋆༺♱༻⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⋆ 。°⛧
You didn’t have any news on how the damn quest was going.
No Iris message. No letter. Absolutely no indication that your best friend was still alive. lt was a mix of emotions together, but especially fear.
Fear that maybe he wasn’t alive anymore. Maybe he had finally succumbed to one of those damned quests that your parents put you through, because somehow, they can’t do it on their owns.
But you had to cling to the small light of hope that was alive and that he was okay. After all, he promised you he’d come back.
“Of course i’ll come back, y/n/n. I always do.”
And maybe when you do came back, you thought, i’m finally be able to tell you how much i love you.
But all that hope was completely and totally crushed down the moment that Nico came to your apartment, along with Lester, Meg and Piper.
All of them had a dark and intense gaze, but especially Nico.
You obviously knew about the growing friendship that Jason had with the younger boy. Gods, Jason even talked about him like an older brother talks about his baby sibling.
And that’s when you knew. That’s when it hit you, that’s you’d never see Jason again.
“Y/n… can i come in?” Nico asked, his voice cracked. He instantly cleared his throat and stand up straight, swallowing a lump. “I mean- we. Can we come in?”
You just nodded, the tears already welling up in your eyes.
“Hm… Im really sorry to say this, Y/n, but… Jason didn’t make it. Caligula, he-“ Apollo - Jason’s half brother, cause nothing could be better - said, but you interrupted him with a raise of your hand.
“It’s okay. You didn’t have to come all the way here to talk to me about this. You have a quest to continue, i get it. You can go now.” You said, your voice trying to sound firm and certain.
“Y/n, are you-“ Piper said, reaching out a hand to you.
“Yes.” You said, taking a step back away from her. You and Piper never had the best relationship, and you just thought that she was the last person you’d want around in a moment like this - the girl who first killed Jason. “I’m fine. Really.”
You tried to sound reassuring, but Nico quickly caught in your facade. He cleared his throat again and looked back at the trio behind him. “It’s fine.” He said, and they finally backed off.
Meg was the only one who didn’t. She achtualmy took a step forward and pulled you in to a hug. She was a few inches shorter than you, so it was hard for her, but the hug was very appreciated. You quickly reciprocated, and she finally pulled away. She had puffy eyes and a pout on her lips.
“I’m sorry about him. I know you were close.” She said in a whisper, only to both of you hear, and you smiled. She was sweet. You nodded and whispered back a small ‘thank you’. And then, they finally left.
When you closed the door, you immediately broke into sobs. Your brother was quick to cradle you into his arms, and you just sobbed.
Not that far after, you felt his body also shaking. You didn’t think you ever saw Nico cry, but this was understandable, at least. He was his best friend. He was the best friend to both of you.
“W-why, Nico? It’s- it’s not fair! He’s- he was too young, he-“ You groaned as you sobbed into Nico’s old jacked, damping it completely. Bit you couldn’t find it in yourself to care, not when that happened.
He nodded, caressing your back.
He was gone. Jason was gone. Your Jason. Your best friend. The man you were in love with. The person that you grew to admire, looking up to how kind, generous and intelligent he was.
Your favorite person. Your soulmate.
In the end, all that’s left is a broken promise, a crossed heart and a shattered soul.
