there’s been a few threads and tags talking about the imagery in the hella awesome banquet mv that i’ve been keeping track of so i’ll start spooning out some of the info i’ve seen lol

i tag vomited about this one, but there’s a likely chance this is in reference to ‘the coronation of a virgin,’ which typically depicts the virgin mary coming into sainthood and being crowned as such by jesus and god as a different holy trinity depiction

what’s interesting to note is that our christian/catholic deities have been replaced by two women, who i have yet to identify but are regally dressed. i’m sure i don’t have to say what could be implied rn with two authoritative women figures lol

the fact they are wearing different colours is interesting as well!!!! if we go off of christian/catholic symbolism, black is the colour of death and crimson, the type of red worn by royals, is the colour for the blood of the martyrs and symbolic of the presence of god

despite all of this christian/catholic imagery, there is a buddhist reference in this shot!!!!! tho it looks western in style, the crown is likely in reference to ‘the black crown’ found in tibetian buddhism!!!! this crown symbolises a monk’s power to benefit all sentient beings. if we follow christian/catholicism tho, it could also be symbolic of the crown of black thorns that was placed on jesus’s head and is symbolic of his martyrdom

so a lot of martyrdom imagery going on here i think 🤔
