Speaking as an astronomer with an interest in science history:
#1 Isaac Newton was just LIKE THAT
#2 Isaac Newton and Edmond Halley (Maxwell Raynor) were very close friends so that has some potential implications.
#also I had a science history professor back in undergrad who told some absolutely unhinged stories about these two#I do not have sources so he could have been making shit up#but according to him Newton got his boyfriend to send anon hate mail to Leibniz over the whole calculus thing#and Halley had separate affairs with both a ship captain and his wife and then had to take a different boat back to England#again don’t quote me on any of this I haven’t talked to this professor in like 5 years#the magnus protocol#the magnus archives
