You are right and you should say it 😭
like I really get Marcus’s POV here - he has just killed it with the desserts, he’s feeling confident and assured - no better time to shoot your shot! He can get really giddy when he’s been successful (donuts!). It’s not great professionally, but it’s also such a misread of who she is and where she’s at in the moment - and it’s gotta be super disorienting for her, cus Marcus has been such consistent support when others 🔵🔵 have not.
When he comes out in the dining room later, it’s the only time we see her make herself look smaller -
Tumblr media
As she hunches over and turns away, and as a Syd lover, it breaks my heart a little. Carmy and Richie both clocking the tension, even if they don’t say anything… argh! Marcus, why babes 😭
she does deal with it terribly though, it’s not ok Marcus blows up at her, but it’s very, very understandable.
I love Marcus, but still, if I was Syd I would be pissed if he asked me out in the middle of a very hectic and stressful working hours. And then he accuses her of being extra rude because of that. Are you serious have you seen my girl?! She doesn't have time to ignore her staff because of such little things. And Marcus's character is mature enough to know when and where it is appropriate to ask someone out.

Rules: Pick 5 shows, then answer the following questions. Don’t cheat. Tag some people.
Tagged by @brambleberrycottage! Thank you!!
(a note: these are not necessarily my fave shows or anything, but they are the shows that are more on my mind than others :P)
Teen Wolf
Star Wars Rebels
Stargate: SG-1
Leverage
Parks & Recreation
Who is your favorite character in 2? Kanan Jarrus. He has a fantastic character arc, he’s a wonderful mentor and space dad, and he’s probably my fave Jedi (and character) in all of Star Wars. Sorry about it, Obi Wan
Who is your least favorite character in 1? I mean, I don’t tend to focus on least favorite characters too often. However, I do generally have a vague desire to punch Theo in the face anytime he’s onscreen.... He’s slightly better in 6B with the (incredibly rushed) redemption arc and all that, but like. Also.
What is your favorite episode of 4? Oh man, that’s a really difficult question for this show, actually. But for sheer creativity and memorability, I’d probably say “The Rashomon Job.” That was one of the ones that really stuck in my from when I first watched the show, and it ended up being just as good as I remembered.
What is your favorite season of 5? Hmmm I wanna say either S3 or S5. The harvest festival arc in 3 is great, but all the Leslie/Ben stuff in S5? Beautiful and iconic.
Who is your favorite couple in 3? I was a Jack/Sam shipper way back in the day, and that honestly hasn’t changed.
Who is your favorite couple in 2? Kanan/Hera! They’re just... !!! They care about each other! They’re supportive! They just love each other so much and I have so many feelings
What is your favorite episode of 1? “Frayed” Like !!! The entirety of 3A up to this point has been building up to the idea of Scott being/becoming an Alpha, and, like, throughout the season we see him do little Alpha things -- being a leader, pretty much everything about his relationship w/ Isaac, etc. And then!! Then!! This is the episode where he actually starts to realize it! And where he actively chooses the leadership role!
And I’m sorry, I’m not done talking about this episode yet, because I honestly just have so many feelings?? And it’s got this one moment. One moment in particular. Which may be one of my favorite moments in the entire series. Like the whole set up is really good (it’s also one of the few TW eps where anachronic order actually worked), and there’s this whole moment in the middle where Scott and Isaac have to calm Boyd down and keep him from attacking Ethan, as Boyd thinks the Alpha Pack killed Derek. And then, at the end of the episode, Isaac (who did not get upset about Derek in the same way Boyd did) learns that Scott isn’t healing from the wound he got fighting the Alphas, and he just. Absolutely freaks out and attacks Ethan.
(The show directly parallels Boyd’s reaction about Derek to Isaac’s reaction about Scott, and !!!)
BUT THEN. Then Scott comes out. And he roars.
And it’s not technically a roar, but he yells Isaac’s name and it has power behind it. And everyone (including Boyd) notices.
But Isaac!! Isaac stops! He responds as if it was a roar! And I’m!! Gonna go!! Absolutely!! Feral!!!
Ahem.
Anywho that’s my fave episode of TW, and I really love my Alpha son
What is your favorite episode of 5? Oh man, I don’t actually remember a lot of specific favorite episodes, even though I know there’s a lot of eps that I really like... I’m thinking “Flu Season”? But also that’s just one among many very good episodes.
What is your favorite season of 2? I’m gonna say S4, actually. I thought the show had a really strong ending, and I love the final arcs of all the characters.
How long have you watched 1? So I started watching in... 2012 or 2013 I think? And then watched off and on through at least part of S4. Then I started a rewatch here in the year of our Lord 2020 and uh. Here we are :P
How did you become interested in 3? This was actually one of the first fandoms that tiny!Carolyn was ever involved in! My mom discovered it back in like... 2003 or something, decided it was not inappropriate for her barely nine-year-old daughter, and from then on we were both pretty much hooked.
Who is your favorite actor in 4? Mmm frick, do I have to pick? Probably either Christian Kane or Aldis Hodge. But also Beth Riesgraf is fantastic, too, the whole show is just so delightful.
Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5? Okay okay okay. So. Rebels is definitely the tighter written and better show, imo, but also I’m having a ton of Teen Wolf feelings right now and I just care so much about this characters. So like, currently and tentatively, Teen Wolf? (Sorry P&R, I love you, but straight sitcoms are probably never going to be my pick, even though it is really good)
Which show have you seen more episodes of - 1 or 3? So like, this is really just a contest of how many episodes each show has, right? Since I can’t imagine picking a show for a game like this if I hadn’t seen all the eps? Anywho, seeing as Teen Wolf has 100 episodes and SG-1 has 213 episodes, I think SG-1 is the clear winner here.
If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? So like, I wanna say Amy Palavi, the waitress in their Brewpub in S5? She doesn’t have a terribly intense life or tragic backstory, but she also gets to befriend and hang out with Parker -- along with some mild involvement in shenanigans -- so that seems ideal, honestly.
(And yes, I know she gets kidnapped in that one ep, but that works out all right in the end, so I’m still down.)
Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work? Weirdly, absolutely yes. I’ve actually read a few that were pretty good.
In fact, according to Word of God, Leverage and Stargate actually take place in the same universe? Apparently there were going to be a flashback gag with Eliot going through the gate as part of one of his many past jobs, but they weren’t able to do it, due to the sets already have been dismantled.
Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple? Huh, oh man. I’m not usually much of rarepair person tbh. And like this is literally something I’m pulling out of absolutely nowhere and haven’t actually thought about before now. But maybe Sydney/Hayden? or Sydney/Lori?
Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5? Y’know, I was gonna go with Stargate with this one, but actually the big storyarcs were never my favorite part of SG-1. Whereas P&R actually had some really good and emotionally compelling arcs. So I’m actually gonna go with Parks & Rec with this one.
Which has better theme music, 2 or 4? Neither of them really have much theme music to speak of, but if we’re just talking about music, then Rebels is the clear winner here. Like seriously, props to Kevin Kiner et al., it has some seriously fantastic musical cues. Heck, the score for the finale got nominated for an emmy.
Tagging @whitecatgraycatblackcat, @experimentaldata, and @darnitjack! Also, as always, feel free to do this if you feel so inclined, and please tag me and let me know!

North Melbourne face Giant task in their quest to sign Josh Kelly
While Greater Western Sydney remain quietly confident of retaining young gun Josh Kelly, the AFL’s newest franchise club is ready to dig in its heels should he decide to take the gigantic deal offered by North Melbourne.
If Kelly were to seek a trade to Arden Street at the end of the season, it’s understood North would have to be willing to part with a quality player and a first-round draft pick in return.

The Giants already have a multitude of talented youngsters and would be hunting one of North’s prime movers.
Mason Wood, Jy Simpkin, Taylor Garner and even All-Australian ruckman Todd Goldstein would be some of the players looked at in a deal that could look similar to the epic trade that had Carlton land Chris Judd from West Coast at the end of 2007.
The Giants’ Josh Kelly is tackled by Andrew Swallow of the Kangaroos. Photo: Getty Images
The Blues gave up picks 3 and 20, along with young forward Josh Kennedy to land the premiership captain.
The mammoth offer for Kelly from the Kangaroos comes as the club tries desperately to land a high-profile player, having failed to do so in several recent attempts.
Adam Treloar, Hamish Hartlett, Dan Hanneberry and Isaac Heeney were all offered long-term, multimillion-dollar contracts to make the switch to North Melbourne, but Treloar picked Collingwood and the other three stayed put.
Hanneberry and Heeney were offered six-year deals at nearly $1 million a season, but chose to stay loyal to the Swans.
The potential landing of Kelly, who finished fourth in the Giants’ best and fairest last year, would be a huge coup for the Roos, because it would announce them as a destination club to rival the likes of Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn.
Kelly, who played his under-18s football at Sandringham, is the son of Phil Kelly who played 61 games for North in the early 1980s.
Josh has now played one more game than his father, and has had 27 disposals in both games this season, including three goals in Saturday’s thrashing of Gold Coast.
While the Giants remain strong in their stance that Kelly will stay – he has been offered a two-year contract extension – the club is aware of a worrying trend that has had developing talent walk out the door.
Treloar, Taylor Adams, Jack Steele and Caleb Marchbank are just a handful of players who have left the Giants and are performing well at their new clubs.
Marchbank, who had his injury problems while at the club, is a particular frustration for the Giants, as they rated him highly and were desperate to keep him.
Coach Leon Cameron addressed the issue on Wednesday, stating he was “absolutely confident” Kelly would remain a Giant.
“I don’t think we have to give him a reason [to stay], Josh already knows why he wants to be at the footy club.
“He really likes the place, he’s bought into our footy club, he’s in our leadership group, he’s playing really good footy, he’s very popular [here], and he wants to stay.
Cameron said he believed the leaking of specific details in contract offers was a strategy for rival clubs trying to poach players.
“I think it’s a tactic isn’t it, let’s be honest,” he said.
“There’ll be people out there from every footy club trying to secure talent, whether it be from our footy club, or someone from Melbourne, Adelaide, Queensland or Western Australia.
“There’s players moving from club to club a lot more, we’ve secured some outstanding players from other footy clubs, and likewise we’ve lost a couple, but we’re absolutely confident, really confident of retaining Josh.”
Cameron said he hoped the club would be able to re-sign Kelly soon: “Hopefully, we can get it done and dusted over the next couple of weeks, or month or so.”
The timing of the Kelly offer couldn’t be more intriguing, with the two sides to do battle on Saturday at Blundstone Arena in Hobart.

As a nation we love nothing better than to analyse, debate and question our national holidays and institutions. The media reflects this. On some occasions Australians seem too busy furiously arguing the relevance or appropriateness of memorials, holidays or festivities surrounding Easter, Anzac Day, Christmas, Australia Day and New Year’s Eve to actually celebrate them.
And so it follows that football supporters each year mark the Richmond-Carlton season opener, Essendon and Collingwood on April 25 and up until this year the sanctity of a football-free Good Friday with spirited debate. Predictably the recently gazetted grand final eve public holiday has provoked more protest than actual enjoyment.
Gillon McLachlan’s declaration on Friday morning that the grand final would remain a 2.30 afternoon game for 2017 was the correct and considered call although his decision to leave the future open has laid the foundations for further public soul-searching.
While Andrew Demetriou ran the AFL, debate and discussion around the big game were just that. The former CEO’s style was to take a stand on certain traditions and he stuck fast with Good Friday, the grand final replay and the bounce. Demetriou never seriously considered moving the final game of the season while happily forging ahead with increased night and twilight preliminary finals.
McLachlan sees the later time slot as an inevitable progression over the life of this new six-year broadcast cycle – as a trial at the very least – and has chosen to fuel public and media debate surrounding the move over the past two months or so. If he has been a little cute about the grand final decision over the past month, his occasional flippancy masked a genuine desire to provoke public response as the competition moved towards what would be a momentous decision.
The exercise has succeeded in convincing him the public appetite for change is not compelling but perhaps could have been better timed, particularly because there already appeared a strong view at headquarters even in February that the game would remain the same this season.
There is a view at Seven that a prime-time grand final would be robbing Peter to pay Paul.  Photo: Eddie Jim
Particularly when simultaneously the umpires are campaigning to eliminate the centre bounce from the game and the Good Friday tradition has been removed.
And more specifically given the brave new football world pioneered over the pre-season by the launch of AFL Women’s. If any initiative has demonstrated how emphatically the widely consultative McLachlan can trust his own instincts then the new national league is that.
The post-AFL grand final presentations last year out-rated the game for broadcaster Seven.  Photo: Joe Armao
The league chief’s leadership and drive in launching AFLW well before so many of his advisers told him it was ready has been demonstrated every time a female footballer won an award over the past week and thanked McLachlan first. And pretty much every time a player spoke of her joy at the AFL’s prescience.
Commercially, those clubs that won licences to create teams are reaping the benefits in extra membership and sponsorship. Those which missed out have become increasingly disappointed and those that chose not to push for a licence look foolish. If McLachlan, who prefers to vote with his feet, left the top job now his legacy is intact thanks to that foresight.
So I’m not sure the competition needed any more noise surrounding prospective traditional shifts than it already had in place. Even though the reason the AFL is considering the later start time rests more on the desire to improve the spectacle and the occasion more than a dash for cash.
But even the Seven Network bosses – whose CEO Tim Worner is pro the later start and has spoken regularly about the desire to turn half-time into a grand spectacle – are not completely aligned in their enthusiasm for change. Certainly the commission has always held misgivings around scheduling the longer half-time break, in the interests of showbiz and entertainment – and its impact upon the competing players.
Seven chairman Kerry Stokes, more of a traditionalist, has always respected the AFL’s long-time stand to retain the afternoon convention, one still observed by British soccer with the FA Cup final, and the VRC with the running of the daylight Melbourne Cup.
Other Seven executives point out that scheduling the game at night or half-day, half-night would raise significant advertising revenue but would not necessarily prove the financial windfall this debate often predicts. The current afternoon ratings for Channel Seven then follow into another prime time product at night, which sells accordingly.
There is a view at Seven that a prime time grand final would be robbing Peter to pay Paul.
The top-rating program last year across all Australian metropolitan markets was the post-AFL grand final presentations to the drought-breaking Western Bulldogs (3,201,000). No. 2 was the Bulldogs-Sydney game itself (3,081,000) with the first NRL state-of-origin clash in third position (2,735,000) and the prime-time NRL grand final (2,670,000) in fourth place.
This perhaps counted for little in the AFL’s thinking but it would have seemed strange to toy with the 2017 grand final the year after a redesigned finals series off the back of a bye which proved a stunning success and one of the great grand final performances and emotional results in the game’s history.
The Bulldogs victory was one of those rare occasions where the occasion was everything.
Now that the AFL has closed the backroom and public assembly on its biggest event at least for one more year it would be nice to think that its unpredictably brilliant product could again create something spectacular.
A grand final that will eliminate further conference and have us cheering just as furiously again this season. Before the sun goes down.
