First of all, we Sindar were already battling Morgoth long before you even came to Middle-earth. While you were slaughtering your own kindred, we were doing a kin-avenging of Denethor, so you can shut up about that. Plus, our armies were decimated so that's why we can't even fight in battle now.

Second of all, you didn't even need to steal the damn ships. Fingolfin and his people crossed the Helcaraxë into Middle-earth so you could've just done that instead of killing Elves who were literally unarmed and unprepared. It's telling that you blame the Teleri for defending themselves when you literally ignored their protests and tried to steal the ships anyways. And then you tried to hide this from King Thingol when you know that he's friends with Olwë??? And then you wonder why he hates the Fëanorians and kicked you out of Doriath! I'd do the same if I were in his shoes!

Lastly, I think I speak for all of the Sindar when I say that I would rather be a slave in Angband than ally myself with the likes of you. If this is how you Fëanorians are gonna treat us, then we don't owe you an alliance.

Doriath is officially no more. Our king and queen are dead, and it's likely that the young princes are dead as well. The only consolation is that Celegorm, Caranthir, and Curufin are also dead, and young Elwing is alive and well.

To my fellow Sindar, do not lose hope.

We must look out for each other and rebuild here in the Havens of Sirion. We must endure the cruelty of Bauglir and his forces. But we will not surrender so long as we fight back. We will not give into Bauglir or the Fëanorians.

One day, we will be the harbingers of vengeance. One day, Bauglir will be sent to the Void. And one day, the Fëanorians will have to answer for their crimes.

For now, let us rest and heal. There is still much work to be done, and we will need all of our strength in the coming days.

If I get the opportunity, I want to try switching to a role that speaks little, that is calm and serious and where the emphasis is on using eyes and gestures to convey emotions. A fantasy or sci-fi role like a vampire might be worth a try.

This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans - Ep 1-5

I didn't plan on watching this series for one simple reason: both main couples in PitBabe did nothing for me, so I had no reason to watch another show with one of those couples. (The interesting thing about PitBabe was that while the main romantic couples were of zero interest to me, all my attention, steam, energy, and obsession went to the side characters and ghost ships. Not to mention the actual real life and my obsession with Sailub and Nut's friendship, whose chemistry ruined for me their any other relationship with other actors 🤡) That being said, I've seen this cutie on my dash so many times that I finally decided to watch this series just to stare at him:

(you ask: omg mikuni how can you be such a shallow person to watch a series just to stare at some dude?? I answer: that's exactly the kind of shallow person I am, for example I once endured an extremely boring Mads Mikkelsen movie just to stare at Mads Mikkelsen, but you know, what can you do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

Anyway, my experience with TLDHLB is very similar to my experience with PitBabe: zero interest in the main couple (although Sailub is GREAT and kisses like a devil), and all my attention is taken up by the side characters.

I really like JJ and Nubnueng and how they are being good friends to Plawan and Oab. I love them, I love how supportive they are and how they refuse to buy into anyone's bullshit. Btw, I think they should unionize and file for financial compensation for the psychological and mental damage they're suffering lol

It's been a while since I've seen a show with such an, um, unappealing character as Plawan. I'll be honest: I have a hard time believing in a romance where I'm constantly wondering, okay, but what do people who like him actually see in this guy????

Garfield as JJ is the absolute brightest star of this show. It's amazing how different he is from Kenta. I love every scene he has, every word he says, the way he carries himself. His character is so awesome that when I watch him I feel like not a single second is wasted. He elevates every scene he's in. 💯💯

Methas is also a great character. I especially like that it's been 5 episodes and he doesn't change much. Personally, I would have preferred if he stayed a dick until the end and became nice only to JJ (within reason of course, their fights are very entertaining 😉). But I 99% expect a redemption arc and that he'll become "good", find a "family" in JJ and everything will be "kumbaya". I'm rooting for that 1% that Methas will remain a ruthless business 🦈

The pretty boy I started watching this show for is a real eye candy and he's a slippery snake hiding behind an innocent face and glasses, so yay!

Michael is also easy on the eyes 😏

not to mention Garfield: in his work unifrom, when he's pissed at Plawan and/or Methas (or both of them at the same time), when he has that sexy smirk or pout, gosh he is absolutely 🧁🍬🍰

Well, let me tell you, I didn't expect this, but I'm having a lot of fun watching this series lol

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the JJ/Methas couple is one of the best and most REAL "enemies to lovers" romances I've ever seen. Like, they really wanted to kill each other 😍

hellooo I just saw your post about you agreeing more with vampire chronicles book opinions before you read them vs now, and because I’m messy: what kind of opinions/takes do you mean? care to spill the tea (if you feel like it)?👀👀😂

Hey. 😅 So keep in mind that I have read 8/13 TVC books + Pandora and am currently on Blackwood Farm. Opinions might change later on. This also will contain some spoilers...

So, there are many takes that I disagree with or even agree, but still believe things are way more layered so reducing it to a one-line sentence feels almost dishonest. But here are some:

P.S. I'm not trying to be mean, but whoever disagrees, please just ignore or block me if you want. I don't want this to become a discussion or debate. My only intention here is to answer a mutual, that's all.

I don't think Armand is this stereotyped one-dimensional classical villain. Sure, he's done awful things, but it's important to know the context. He was kidnapped, taken from his family, raped, traumatized to the point he had amnesia and prayed for God to let him die, had a weird grooming relationship with Marius, was attacked, kidnapped by the Roman Coven, saw many of his friends from Marius's palazzo (some were only 7) be killed in front of him, had their ashes thrown at him, was tortured, starved, then they threw his best friend for him to eat and at that point he was so dehumanized that he had dissociated and couldn't fully process what was going and who that was, was fully brainwashed... No wonder Armand was such a dark character, he's been brutalized and brainwashed from such an early age, then turned at 17 as an attempt to save his life (because someone got rejected and tried to murder him), is stuck in puberty which is already a hard time for people who live in privilege and comfort, now imagine how that is for someone that has been traumatized left and right for centuries, even when he was still human? And he's also highly autistic and BPD-coded, so to have all of that exacerbated once you become a vampire, it is no surprise he became a monster at some point (and I haven't even listed everything because this is already long enough). Still, I think he is Anne's most complex character so far and the one with most reasons to explain his actions. And yet he also has the best development, the journey he goes through on TVA is amazing. I've never seen a character grow that much.

Lestat doesn't "fall in love with everybody". Look, I get it's annoying to have Anne making him make out or have sex with basically everyone he meets, but that's just another proof of how he's terrified of being alone. He was abused by his family, even Gabrielle that was the best out of them, neglected him. Loneliness has always been his biggest fear even as a human. And he also isn't the best at separating romantic, platonic and familial love. That's why I believe he has so many "lovers". I get it's exhausting to have that happening on so many books, we could've had three cases and that would've been clear enough... But even with this satured trope, to say he "falls in love with everyone" feels reductive. It's way bigger than that.

That's also how I mostly feel about him and Gabrielle, I don't see it as something romantic or even that sexy, for me it was mostly his need to have someone. At that time, he was completely alone and then he turned Gabrielle and that was the only company he had. Same goes to her. And the whole time there were moments they referred to each other as mother and son... They basically tried to be each other's lover, parent/child, friend, ally etc and it obviously didn't work because you can't have one person playing all the roles in your life.

This isn't exactly something I disagree with, but I think it might be possible that Lestat behaves as a rape victim trying to recreate his trauma sometimes and that maybe another reason for him to 'offer' his body so much in insecurity. Because he was kept illiterate for so long, I'm not sure he considers his personality compelling enough to attract people.

That said, I don't see Nicki and Louis as the only people he had/has romantic feelings for either.

I don't find Gabrielle to be such a bad mother, or at least I don't consider it a bad thing, because it seems like she never wanted to be one to begin with. She did what she could with the reality she was forced into.

And Lestat also had his needs as a child because he didn't ask to be born... I see them both as victims of frustrating circumstances.

Marius is only happy when people agree with him, whenever someone shows a sign of personality he gets irritated, so I don't see this great, noble person he is supposed to be at all. And I'm yet to see him do something truly relevant. Maharet and Mekare are way more relevant, for example. So far he's unnecessary to me.

I don't think Armand is using the Spell Gift as much as people do. I don't even believe he's trying to seduce people without his powers. He is just that handsome and characters are obsessed with him. On TVA, his spirit leaves his body for a moment and he is literally surprised that he is actually as pretty as people say because he genuinely never understood their reactions to him? That's not a seductive person lmao, c'mon. He is just existing most of the time and people drool over Armand even when he's not around and just in their thoughts. The closest he does is masking his autism.

Lestat is the protagonist, yes, but mostly because he is the recurring narrator while others only appear once. On TVL, Part V and Part VII of the book are more about Armand and Marius (respectively) than Lestat, TQOTD had a bunch of characters for us to consider Lestat (the only) lead and for me Akasha and the twins played way bigger roles than him, Memnoch is mostly the devil having a monologue and Lestat just listening, on TVA, Merrick and Blood and Gold he doesn't have a POV and barely/doesn't appear at all, as far as I've been he doesn't have a POV on IWTV and Blackwood Farm either... Before reading the books I expected everything was mostly about him, but it's way more balanced than I'd anticipated.

Lestat wanting Gabrielle to present herself more feminine is more about still wanting her to look like his mother and gender envy than bigotry. But I don't have a problem with other gender nonconforming people seeing it that way either, because we're not a monolith. If some took it that way, it's completely valid and people need to respect that.

However, that's a shit situation for both sides and I wish Anne had fixed it. So far she hasn't and from what I've heard nothing changes in future books either.

The Devil's Minion chapter was really cool and that's not exactly disagreement, but I had the impression that would've stuck and it... didn't. I knew they break up at some point, but Armand barely talking about Daniel on TVA and the few times he did making the whole thing feel so doomed surprised me? Someone told me their endgame was more ambiguous than something crystal clear and now I'm confused?

I don't consider Dora an actual love interest for Lestat. I wouldn't even classify Gretchen as that and he actually slept with her.

David was awful on Merrick, yes, but on TTOBT he was basically the only one Lestat could count on?

Louis was a dick on that book. But so was Lestat so idk.

I don't get the whole "Lestat would never hurt Louis" thing because Lestat did attack other people he loves and burned Louis's house once? He raped a woman? He turned a close friend into a vampire against his will? I've read more than half of TVC and find it possible that he could explode and take it out on Louis tbh.

Nothing sexy about Akasha and Lestat, really. But she was cool for the role she played on the book.

Again, not exactly disagreement, but there are way other cool characters, relationships of all kinds and even interesting topics regarding Louis, Lestat, Armand and Daniel than just loustat and armandiel. It would be nice to see more posts about them too sometimes.

I don't see these books as a love story at all.

I don't even consider Anne Rice to be good at writing romantic moments, actually. When there's indeed good stuff, it feels more of a happy accident than anything.

The iconic backstage kiss was so random? That thing is way overrated. Loustat peaked at that quote of having eternity to nurture their love on TVL.

Anne is throwing some polyamorous subtext for (at least) two books now.

I find it funny when people are okay with a lot of problematic stuff and are like "they're all monsters, get over it!", but draw the line on polyamory, really?

I had to divide these in two because of character limit. :p

I actually find it way more realistic and interesting to have vampires who are above gender, sexuality, laws, religion, every social norm, including monogamy.

I also consider it totally possible for people who live forever to actually fall in love with more than individual as you get to know and understand them better, as well as going through key moments of their lives together? I believe that at some point the things would get too blurry and fluid.

I also don't think exclusivity = superiority, so.

And so far Anne doesn't seem to prioritize anything. When characters list their loved ones, the order of the names change. They refer to people they were/are romantically involved as lover, companion, friend. She plays with the idea of a love that can't be classified and transcends definition sometimes. I never got the impression that it was always character A and B, be that any pairing. And every time she tried to do something more traditional it wasn't as compelling tbh. Morals do matter in this world. Anne's vampires do forgive easier than on the show, sometimes way too easy, but some do hold grudges. The only difference is that their idea of morals is not the same of humans. They're vampires, so it involves the particularities of their supernatural existence.

Some stuff are crystal clear and Anne confirms it with every single word, but many things are open to interpretation. Sometimes people's own opinions get passed around as the ultimate truth, when they're guess is as good as everybody else's. And that's the same for this post, really. Nobody's opinion is superior and that includes my own. They're different, but equally valid and I believe the fandom would benefit from adopting this approach instead of immediately dismissing an opposite take.

Nobody needs to read those books because God knows they can be problematic (and no, you don't need stuff like plantation owners on book about vampires), but if you want to know the lore, you should read the books. Reading wikia pages and asking mutuals don't give you the full picture. Take me as an example, now that I'm reading them myself, my thoughts diverge a lot of the times. Sometimes, even posting photos of pages plural doesn't provide you enough context. You need to see it for yourself. You can still stick to the show, since it exists as its own thing. But if want to know the lore, you need to get all the information and form your very own conclusions.

Cheesecake: I really see Vigi as an aro/ace kind of guy. I feel he and Noisette really don't have much in common despite being good friends. They don't really look good together.

PeppiNoise: This one is my least fave (to put it nicely). I see a lot of the rival/enemies secretly love each other, and I'm typically not a fan. I like their relationship as enemies that want to kill each other but go put to lunch sometimes because they're both kinda lonely. HOWEVER, I think the idea of Noise flirting with Peppino to mess with him is funny. Noise would call him "sexy" just to piss him off and it works.

PeppiNoisEtte (polycule): I'm not poly, so I really don't understand poly relationships. It's more of the same reason I don't ship PeppiNoise. Their demeanors are just so different. I also see Noise and Noisette as the JEALOUS type.

Pepperlante: It's a silly ship to me (/pos). The art and situations I've seen them in are silly and cute. While I don't ship it, they go together. Good crack ship.

I don't ship Fake Peppino with anybody. I feel like he doesn't have the mindset/mental age to consent.

Stick x Burton: I like it. I see ship art of them a lot, and it's cute. Big chubby giant with his tall skinny twink bf.

PepPizza: Crackship for sure. Another enemy into lovers thing that I can't really get behind. HOWEVER, I like the idea of Pizzahead having a strange obsession/hyperfixation on Peppino. Maybe even a crush. But I don't think the feeling would ever go both ways.

I think that covers up most of the usual ones. It's hard to have ships in this fandom since the characters are all so quirky and unique. A lot of them just don't go together.

I am reading The Goldfinch. I'm where he just started hanging out at the furniture/antiques place regularly. It's written well, it's holding my inerest, but I don't yet see what all the fuss is about. So not as a criticism but in an effort to appreciate something I might be missing, why is it a book you love?

donna tartt is one of my favorite authors anyways. I think she's a spectacular freak and her storytelling skills are exceptionally good and i've read as much of her work as i can possibly get my little hands on!

but for tgf specifically, the narrative being soooo so so centered on personal emphasis & meaning being bestowed upon specific artworks despite them being very unpersonal objects (after they get out of the artist's hands, that is,) in stark comparison to the way that art that can belong to/be seen/be consumed any random fucking person alive in the modern age has been the only existential buoy in my life for a very very very long time. in my lowest times, instead of killing myself i go stand in art museums and think about how much love and creativity is innate in humanity despite times of crisis and war and disease and all of the fucking agonies and everything going wrong and having no control over it. ha ha. it's always been a balm to me, to remember that there is goodness and love preserved in artwork, and that artwork is tougher and longer-lasting than you'd initially think, and that it's always there waiting for me to come back to it and see it in a different emotional state to find new meanings in it. this is the same as how theo thinks about the painting thru different times in his life!! going from needing it desperately as a connection to his mom, obsessively as a comfort, and then reviling it for being a representation of his life's biggest trauma and yet still tending to it and caring for it, to the heartache of losing it and the relief of retrieving it with the one person who genuinely loves him as an act of devotion and apology for a previous betrayal....all while navigating how systems in power are neglectful and uncaring and capitalistic. it's all just So Much To Me.....

and I know the middle chapters where theo just goes on and on about the intricacies of antique forgery aren't as fun and sexy as the vegas chapters with boris (underage drug abuse and gay sex WHEEEEEE) OR the actual criminal chapters at the end (mysterious borderline-noir criminal heist slash subtextual romcom), but they're soooo so poignant to me. because in my own little life, curating the art and music around me and finding beauty and importance and symbolism in these subtle things is a vital central axis that i need to have, much like i need a nice bed or a good meal or a glass of clean water. much of how i cope and navigate the world is very deeply focused around art & art analysis, and I think the only other book i've read that articulated that sort of feeling quite as eloquently would be john berger's way of seeing, which is an academic and analytical text. but i just love fiction so much, so to have tgf as the extremely emotional fiction option to go along w my nonfiction art thesis books that are tonally very prim and objective and well organized..... DELICIOUS. i love it. and i love a fictive narrative built upon tragedy. i love works that call back to each other in conversation, and stories that cannot exist without the foundation of Something Else Existing A Millennia Prior. i love comparing works and establishing what makes them similar or different but how they approach the same themes. and i love to see characters (THEO. boris. pippa. hobie. andy.) that i can identify with who struggle with similiar problems i have, because it makes it easier for me to get thru my own life. this isn't groundbreaking reasoning though, that's just how every human alive consumes art and content. of course we look for ourselves in fiction. of course we as individuals want to find things that we relate to.

and also in a purely self-indulgence way, I also looooooove it when media is unbearably long and i can get completely entranced and study it closely and always be able to find new details that throw the whole story into a completely new light, which I think tgf does very well because it's almost 900 pages LMAO. every time i reread it there's a new nuanced angle for me to think about actions and thoughts leading into consequences and i just eat that up every single time.......

but despite all of this i do recognize that tgf is not everyone's cup of tea. like it's genuinely one of the most meaningful texts in my heart but i completely understand how it can be long, and boring, and melodramatic, and a bit insane, and convoluted, and pompous, and not worth the time to get from cover to cover.

but it is worth the time. to me.

I'm so so excited for the possibility of him meeting Annette and seeing them interact and bounce off each other because I think he would love her. She is so filled with passion and represents so much triumph and hope against colonizers and slave-masters as a Haitian revolutionary. I think it would be interesting too, because he has strong feelings about faith and religion and I wonder how he would see Annette's vodou. (Also the theory of him being connected to Quetzalcoatl is fun and would tie into this).

It absolutely kills me that he has learned to be so strategic and patient and observant, from all that he's lost and all the people he's seen die. That he sees an inner fire and faith in a cause in other people and craves that for himself, but CAN'T let them lose their lives to it because he's lost so much already. He just wants to protect what he has, and that kills me.

I can't wait for next season, I want the fallout and the drama with Mizrak and the potential slow burn. I love him being possessive and over-protective of Mizrak as a character flaw and I am hoping for more next season... get Spicy with it.... I'm also hoping that maybe He's the one who needs to be saved and Mizrak shows up. :> I think Olrox deserves better but I love watching them together, I will eat that up.

I've decided to start a Lost watch diary. I have lots to say and no where to put it!

Season 1 Episode 2:

It seems everyone on this show (even the ones who aren't that enthused) has hope that they'll somehow figure out a way to leave and I think that's real sweet of them. Everyone except for Jack maybe seem to have just enough knowledge in a specific field to get the ball rolling. Sayid (anyone else think he's sexy? no? oh ok.) knows a little bit about technology and Shannon partied so much in France she knows about as much French as a toddler does-idc what anyone says btw she's my queen and Id be acting like her too after crash landing anywhere!- (surely by the end of the season she'll learn more- I'm betting on this old French woman to appear like a witch in the night). 16 years of a distress call is disheartening but it really made me think of Claire's baby (who will definitely end up being a boy). Everyone here has developing to do, but they were perfectly constructed (by destiny or God or whatever final boss is out there) to form a somewhat harmonic society, a scientific experiment of human development. But you need a factor to compare it to, a boy born and raised on an island. Now THAT will be so interesting.

Also I need to talk about Charlie. Imagine: you’re tweaking off heroin bc you smuggled it on a plane and they were about to catch you. So you took them in the bathroom and then your plane crashes into an island where mysterious monsters want to kill you and everyone is somehow sexier than you. OUCH. Oh but there's something about him. I just know he was a fan favorite, he's probably a really nice dude. I'll come back to that when his back story drops.

The episode's focus was definitely not Sun-hwa and Jin-soo but they got me (both of their face cards are INSANE). You may have seen the moment when Kate and Sun stared at each other from afar as a free woman and a trapped woman. But what I saw when they looked into each other's eyes was their respective cages. Both which will be broken on the island (or so I think).

Okay I've finally figured out my Hisoka/ Illumi head canon and can I just say how hard it was to decide on something for these two?

Cause it's like they seem to be besties only Mr. Assassins don't have friends would never be besties plus Hisoka is the most problematically sexual person on the planet. So like they got to be fucking right?

But we never actually see anything sexual or romantic at all so it's just queer baiting right?

Only no because then Togashi is like Hey let's call a death contract a prenuptial agreement and official fanart of them wearing wedding rings...like my dude we have never seen these people kiss.

So they are certainly something. They could be anything from a purely aroace relationship to the most fifthly kinky relationship on the planet with no romance to the most heartwarming romantic little nutjobs we have ever seen with no sex at all.

We just don't know and this drives me crazy.

So therefore I have decide upon what I think is the most amusing head cannon.

Hisoka wants to fuck clearly of course he does, but he doesn't think Illumi wants to fuck because Illumi has never accepted an offer of fucking, but along the way of just wanting to fuck he becomes deeply obsessed with Illumi and in his own weird way the death contract is a little romantic to him.

When Illumi hears this contract he goes 'Oh like a prenuptial agreement.'

And before Hisoka can say 'No not like a prenuptial agreement at all actually.' Illumi goes 'Okay.'

So now Hisoka has somehow accidently manipulated Illumi into a marriage of convenience and of course he is going to roll with this because if he can somehow get an actual ceremony he may be able to get a real wedding night and my god does he want to fuck Illumi.

So he slowly carefully with years of planning manages to get Illumi to wear rings and tell people about it and surly it's only a matter of time before Illumi's family tries to kill Hisoka (He would love that ) or insist he make an honest man out of Illumi.

Hisoka is stalking his prey to accomplish his sexy goal.

Meanwhile Illumi thinks fucking Hisoka would be fun, but fucking with his head is even more fun!

Illumi is a manipulator it's in his nature to control people and getting Hisoka to chase after him is quite a thrill.

They are really made for each other playing these weird fucked up games where they aren't fucking yet, but they would both very much like to own the other.

So that's why there is enough sexual tension to cut with a knife, but they have yet to do the nasty!

I'd say that Illumi is fond of Hisoka ( But he isn't fond of anyone that isn't family is he?) and Hisoka is obsessed with Illumi (But he is obsessed with a lot of people isn't he?)

I have more thoughts on the kinky sex they may someday have, but that wasn't the point of this head canon. Pls tell me your head canons for the pair.

Barrisco should be the most popular slash ship for the Flash. And I say this as someone who has definitely written more ColdFlash and enjoys the enemies to lovers trope a great deal. But Cisco is there for more seasons, his canon friendship with Barry strongly mirrors Barry's canon romantic relationship with Iris, and they are each other's heroes. Honestly, I get why Grant himself thought that if the show hadn't been WestAllen endgame that Cisco would have been Barry's romantic partner.

Honestly I want to write more of this ship myself and get it to the point where I've written more Barrisco and Barriscowest than ColdFlash/ColdWestAllen/ColdFlashWave. Be the change you want to see and all that jazz.

Now specifically it's the fact that Gladiator has gotten a sequel that amuses me. As we get Gladiator II, I keep wondering... is there a Sweaty Men 2 coming out on Earth-19 despite the first movie being less than popular? Maybe it was a sleeper hit after reaching DVD sales. Hmmm, this is a tough one. I mean, I enjoy Eobarry without being particularly horrified or ashamed. And Eobard killed Barry's mother, framed Henry for said murder, and attempted to systematically control/destroy Barry's life. (Honestly that just makes writing the ship a challenge - how do I make this incredibly toxic ship appealing to me and any curious readers? And I like challenges, they're fun puzzles to solve.)

I think to some degree I'm still mad that I like the final retconning of Hartley's backstory. They gave him a boyfriend who spent his first appearance as a sexy lamp (if you can replace a character with a sexy lamp and the plot does not significantly change...) in a magic science coma. And focusing on Barry's face fuzzed out the first Hartley/Roderick kiss like it was being censored.

But having a boyfriend is the superior option to being reconciled with his homophobic parents. Would I prefer that Hartley got both a boyfriend and his parents apologizing for being shitty (and genuinely meaning it)? Yes. But if I have to pick one, give the man a boyfriend and chuck the parents out. (Give him a sister too, but whatever, it's too late.) And Roderick/Hartley was better handled in S9. Though Roderick was really only in one episode and still kinda a non-entity, he did get more of a personality this time and his on screen kiss with Hartley was front and center. But what was there was genuinely sweet and a relationship I was happy to see made Hartley happy.

Yet Roderick is still kind of a sexy lamp even in S9. But still better a sexy lamp boyfriend than an offscreen reconciliation with his parents who said they had no son. And yet I can still be angry that reconciliation was taken away from him and barely poked at with a stick even when it was canon...

So, this might be a bit weird but, after finishing Room No.9 and everything, I wanted to, kind of... Defend ending A a bit? I've seen people's (negative) reactions, some even saying they considered that worse than the ending where Daichi kills Seiji… Which is kinda crazy to me. Even if you hate it, I think it's at the very least better than that, and maybe than endings D or E?

If you think about it, there's nothing really too shocking happening. Their friendship is gone which is sad, but that also happens in every ending besides F (the "good one") and maybe C (stay in the room). Unlike C, they're at least out in the real world, and, while in a sense they might not have "really left the room", the implication is that they're doing fine living their lives and functioning in society outside of their relationship with each other. We don't even get Daichi going on about how he doesn't really care about his job like in ending B (which is very interesting for me, to wonder how he's doing as an elementary teacher while being how he is with Seiji lol).

And while it's definetely sad that there's not really any friendship or love in their relationship anymore, and that it has only turned into what it did due to what they've went through, it's really nothing too bad? People have sexual relationships without romance and explore kinks, dom/sub, humiliation stuff and whatever else they're doing there in real life too, and it's not neccessarily something bad in itself (outside of the context of what initiated it here). They're not even as sex addicted as ending C, cause they don't meet up every day or anything.

I don't think anything Seiji is doing there (because, yes, he's doing it, it's not just something being done to him) is something to truly pity him for. It might be called abuse ending but he's consenting to it, out of the room, with no drugs/aphrodisiacs like in there. And the guilt he probably feels, and that Daichi does on the other side of it, it's something that many people feel about their own kinks/fetishes. The sad part of that ending is really more the feeling of what has been lost, as Daichi says at the end.

I've seen people talk about how Daichi "turns" into a sadistic or into something, or just how they change on that ending in general, but I don't fully agree with that. I mean, it's kinda true, in that they definetely wouldn't have turned out that way without what happened, but, in a way it was also something in them that was awakened.

No matter which route you take, Daichi and Seiji are still turned on from what they have to do. Seij still gets an erection when Daichi face-fucks him. Daichi still talks about how deep down he actually does want to have sex with Seiji at certain moments, about how bad he feels that he's kind of excited to do certain tasks, about how sexy Seiji looks during them. In the shower scene (of the third route, which is the "good one"), he even considers that maybe the idea of doing it to help Seiji is just a rationalization and he actually just wants to have sex with him (well, I'd say it's both).

So, I feel like that ending is in a way the one where they are their truest selves. Primal, deranged, twisted maybe. But they're not in denial anymore (well, the way Daichi reacts to one of the guys thinking he's Seiji's boyfriend makes me wonder if he isn't a bit more in love than he admits, but I might be reading too much into it). Maybe ending C (stay in the room) too, but in that one they seem to be just going with it without thinking more than anything, while in this one, there's more of a realization for them, an inner knowledge about themselves.

I don't think Daichi's sadism is completely created by "the room". And, I mean, it's just sexual sadism. He still never really harms Seiji. It's all very common kinky sex stuff. It's more humiliation/degradation than actual violence. I don't think he's really evil for it. He kinda thinks so earlier on the route, but that doesn't mean we have to agree with it. While I love the sweet Daichi from the third route (and even the second one, if he chooses to stay with Seiji), I gotta admit that route 1 Daichi is also kinda dear to me in a different way. I thought some of his thoughts (like blaming it on genetics) were kinda stupid, but, that sense of guilt over what turns you on, but still wanting to do it anyway, that guilt sort of mixing with arousal because it being taboo and "wrong" is part of why you're into it...

Seiji's situation is a bit more complicated, cause he essentially gets his body "trained" to that kind of stuff (is that even realistic? probably to some extent but not as much as in the game). But I can't see Daichi turning like that if their roles were reversed, and I can't imagine him turning into a dom/sadist either, so it's probably still something somewhat innate to him that he just wasn't likely to discover.

Atticus who had flown in again to cheer you on ran to you the best he could with his heeled boots on. “Bitch you’re gonna kill it. Fucking slay that shit.” his Australian accent made everything 10x funnier and you laughed as he hugged you. “And you look fucking sexy as hell, i dont know if i like him, but i know youre gonna make Niall weak.” you laughed showing off your outfit as a joke before your phone went off.

Meet me outside, I'm at my car.

You showed Atticus the text and he rolled his eyes. “If you two are gonna have a quickie i will happily leave now.” you slapped his arm and dragged him outside with you towards the car park. When you saw Niall clad in a cardigan you smiled softly and felt like a schoolgirl.

“Oh give me strength.” you heard Atticus mutter as Niall saw you and you both lit up like Irish men in a pub. He held his arms out and you ran into them inhaling his scent. “God, I'm so proud of you baby.” he said, kissing your head and swinging you back and forth. You looked up when Niall stopped moving and you knew he had seen Atticus.

“Niall.” Atticus greeted regrettingly. “Atticus, nice to see you mate.” you nudged Atticus to take Nialls outstretched hand and he reluctantly did. “I'm going to take this,” you said as your phone started ringing. “The both of you are too pretty to die so please be nice to each other.” you whispered as you held the phone up to your ear.

Both men watched you walk away before turning to each other. “You broke her.” Atticus came straight out the gate. Niall sighed looking down, “i know-”

“No you don't know. She lost herself when she lost you. Annabeth didn't give her the same kind of feeling you did, yet she still tried to move on. Did you know that she locked herself in her room on the one year anniversary of the live? Threw her phone across the room when the memory popped up. Did you know she almost didn't go to her own release party because she knew you wouldnt be there- like you said you would be. The songs she sings are just the top layer of frosting on the heartbreak cake. I don’t care if your her boyfriend now, you took a piece of her with you.”

Niall wanted to cry as he listened to Atticus. “Atticus-” 

“I'm not done.”

Niall nodded knowing he deserved this. “But you brought that piece and so many others back.” he spoke softly and Niall looked at him through cloudy eyes. “You broke her, dont ever forget that, but you also put her back together in a way no one knew was possible. Being here with you is something she comes home and screeches about- i had to invest in earplugs-” he cut through with a joke making Niall chuckle weakly. “She is so happy, Niall. And she cares about you so much more than you'll ever know. So while i hate you for breaking her heart. I love you for bringing my best friend back.” he embraced a teary Niall in a hug and that's when you came back.

“Well, it looks like I've been replaced then.” you giggled as the men broke apart with eye rolls in your direction. Niall wrapped you in such an apologetic hug, you looked over his shoulder and stared at Atticus quizzically. ‘What did you do?’ you mouthed but all Atticus did was wink and walk away.

“This is so intense.”

You had been at the studio all week. But today was the first Live finale. You, Carson, and Niall all sat at a table together as Carson did a little interview with you.

“Maia, congratulations.”

“Thank you.” you pouted softly

“You're a finalist on The Voice. What did it feel like when I called your name?”

You laughed thinking back on it. “I was so certain that you were going to say Ryleys name that when you spoke I didn't register that it was my name at first. I didn't think i would make it past the Blinds, let alone- make it to here.” you shrugged sadly knowing how scared you were that you would make a complete fool of yourself.

“What do you remember about the Blinds, Niall? About her voice.”

“It was so unique it was,” he told Carson. “I had heard her sing before, and still it was something so new, so unique. And Maia, self-admittedly, was very nervous.” he looked at you, who nodded in confirmation. “But she's got one of those voices, that Ellie Goulding, that Adam Levine.” you looked up at the mention of his ex, and he looked at your reaction with a smug smile. “Its unmistakable, you know exactly who it is.”

“I didn’t want to pick Niall, because of the history we had and that was probably one of my worst decisions,” you all laughed as the admittance. “But after being in rehearsals with him and really learning who i was as an artist because of him, i was like, ‘I guess this guy is onto something’ and he's cute so that helps.”

He chuckled lightly, throwing in a sarcastic ‘thanks’. 

“Then you do ‘River Lea’, and even though Kelly didn’t pick you, the other coaches saw your potential.”

“I just knew -while the performance was amazing- it wasn’t what she needed, it wasn't the right song. She needed these dark, moody songs that we've giving her.”

“Which brings us to the Playoffs and ‘Wicked Game’ which I think you kind of had in mind for her.”

 “That was actually the first song that came to mind.” Niall confessed, “and that's the best performance.” you smiled softly at his praise.

“Are you gaining more confidence now that you're where you’re supposed to be song wise and everything?” they both turned to you and your eyes went wide at the attention. “I would like to think so. In performances and in my actual life. I was lost for a long time before coming on this show, and both my coaches and teammates helped me gain my self-confidence back personally, and Niall made it his mission to bring the girl he saw 3 years ago not only back, but better.”

He smiled at you with a cocked head, “that's what this show is really about.” Carson agreed as Niall looked at you. “And now we're in the Top 5 and she's the one to beat.” you hid your face in your hands and shook your head.

“I don't think any of our five finalists have grown more than you have. Peaking at the right time is everything.” you and Niall both agreed to that. “So what do you do next? What's left?”

You liked at Niall with a shit-eating grin as what you had planned for today was remarkable. “We are gonna do ‘Oh My God’ by Adele.” Carsons eyes shot open at the knews. “I feel its very diffrent then what ive previously been doing. Its a lot more up beat and fast tempoed, which i want to show that i'm not some one-trick pony.” 

Rehearsals were so much fun as you weren't singing a dark song, there was a lot more laughter and you and Niall were on cloud 9.

“We need a little pop in our lives, and what better than to sing a One Direction song.” Niall threw his head back as you practically crumpled into yourself in laughter. “We will be doing no such thing.” he shook his head adjusting in his seat. “I tried America.” you shrugged looking at the camera sending Niall into a fit of giggles.

“We're giving them a Grammy winning song.” he pointed out and pointed back, “exactly.”

“So watch out.” he said in all seriousness, making you laugh. “Not the watch out.” his face scrunched up as he laughed and you wanted to kiss him so bad. He was just too too cute. 

“As you would say, we’re about to slay.”

You looked at him in shock. “Oh my god, we are about to slay.”

Niall laughed, “get it.”

The beginning whistles of the song played and you smiled as the audience roared at the sound of the familiar song.

You clasped the mic in your hands and doubled over laughing at how much fun you just had. “Ladies and Gentlemen, that was Maia Quinn everybody.” 

“Alright Chance let's get something from you.” Carson spoke cutting through the never-ending ovation.

“Amazing performance Maia, per usual. You have a very unique tone of voice, but also seeing you do pop stuff, reminds me that you are your own artist, and it looked like you had so much fun up there.”

“It was so much fun.” you giggled, cutting him off and making everyone else laugh.

“I can tell! I'm excited to see where you go, in terms of original works.”

You thanked as you looked to Niall who you could have easily mistaken for a football dad the way he was clapping. “Cmon Maia Quinn!!” he yelled passionately. “That is ridiculous.” you thanked him softly with a downwards smile. “You are a superstar- i mean its incredible there's nothing you can't do.” he admired and the audience cheered in approval. “Stop your gonna make me cry.”

You heard Kelly ‘awe’ with the audience and Niall smiled up at you. “When I think of all the performances and how haunting they’ve been, the fact that you wanted to do a pop song, this song was a perfect one for you. We got off to the other side of you and again I'm like Chance, I can't wait to hear what record we’ll get after this. This is incredible. I'm so proud of you.” 

You blew kisses and waved at the camera before Carson gave you the okay to walk down. You waved to the audience that were by the stairs and high-fived some of them. When you felt a hand on your waist you turned to see Niall and hugged him softly. “That was so fun!” he giggled while helping you down the second set of stairs.

You ran to Atticus who was waiting for you backstage and he screamed with you as you both bounced. “Bitch!!” he yelled. “I fucking know!!” you both screamed again before you heard the echo of Nialls laugh and you were physically drawn to it as you turned towards the door.

“Ugh,” Atticus groaned, “you love-sick puppies. Moment. Ruined.” as he walked away from your laughing figure. “Atticus, wait!

“And welcome back. Lets close out our season 23 finale with a touching performance by Maia and a song she dedicates to a certain group of people, lets take a look.”

You were sitting on the floor with a phone in your hand. 

“I was given this phone and told to press play. I have no idea what this is.” as you opened the phone and pressed play you saw the first face and immediately started crying. “No he didnt.”

“Hi Maia, it's Harry! I wanted to make this video to tell you congratulations on making it to the finale. You are an amazing singer and I know you can win this thing. Hope to see you at a show soon.” he waved as the video cut out and the next one immediately started. “Oh my god.”

“Ello! Liam and Bear here. A little birdie told me you were a big fan and asked us to give you a little message so i just want to say i have in fact watched this season and you are brilliant. Me and Bear are rooting for you. I know you will sing this song much better than i did. You wanna say anything Bear? Good luck!  I'll give you a call when you win. Lots of love, bye.” 

You laughed through crying as the video ended with Bear waving and the next one played.

“Hi love! Louis here. I'm sending you all my best wishes and my love as you prepare to win this blasted show. Clearly I could learn a thing or two from you. I think my little lad Freddie has a crush on you so this will send him for a spiral. Congrats and good luck.”

You laughed at him talking about freddie and when the video didn't end you gasped. “Do not-”

“Hi Maia, Zayn here. Niall told me you were a big fan, so thank you for your support, wishing you the best of luck on finale day. Hope to see you soon and hear you live. Love you! Bye.”

The video properly ended and you were balling. “I can't believe he did that.” you looked up in hopes to stop the tears from falling. “Niall has been one of my biggest supporters through my entire music journey. Though the song I'm singing has nothing to do with him. This one's for you Nialler.

As the known beginning of the song played you heard the audience cheer and a ‘No she is not’, come from Blake. You and Niall went all out for stage design.

You held onto that note so strongly the stage rumbled  beneath you and you smiled when you finished seeing all four coaches standing up clapping. 

“Not a ton of time left, but Niall I know you must be proud.”

“Maia, I am so proud of you. I don’t think you heard but at the beginning Blake said ‘no she isnt.’ and you did. You smashed it. It was absolutely incredible. I am so glad we chose that song to send you out before the votes are out. That- that was a special moment, at least for me. But i don't think anyone will be forgetting that anytime soon.”

Everyone in the room cheered in agreement and you smiled bashfully. “America!” he addressed. “America. This girl has something special. You know it when you see it, get on that app or get online, do whatever you need to do. Vote for our girl. My girl is special and needs to win this thing.” you gave him a quick thanks as Carson spoke again you waved at the camera sadly for the last time. ‘Hi guys.’ you mouthed to the boys you were sure were watching.

You waved as you walked down the steps for the last time meeting Niall at the bottom of the stairs. “God you look so good.” you whispered in his ear away from the mics both of you had. He flushed as pulled away and you waved as you walked down the stairs watching Niall run his hands through his hair nervously and you giggled. What could you say, that man did things to you.
