It makes me inwardly cry at how much G’raha had endured over his entire life - as he was born in Ilsabard yet grew up in Gyr Abania ere his tribe was driven away by the Garleans. Then he lost his mother when he was young, was shunned by his tribe, gave up on his very first crush because he refused to even attempt to become Nunh because everyone preferred his younger brother anyway and considered him cursed, went to study in Sharlayan then to learn more about his heritage - and even there he was still always considered eccentric and odd. No matter where he went, he was rarely ever fully accepted, not even among the sharlayans who at least recognized his potential and his vast knowledge.  HE WAS NEVER FULLY ACCEPTED ANYWHERE - not even inside NOAH when he had the feeling everyone was merely holding him back until he realized that he was indeed just a burden and they meant no ill - and then, when he awakened in the dark future and the entire fate of the world rested on his shoulders he suddenly was not only recognized but also utterly crushed. It took him to literally sacrifice himself - his past, his life, his own body - for people to value him and he had never learned to perceive himself as worthy of their trust due to that. The Scions who he happened to summon per accident were mistrustful and yet he intended to take his own identity to oblivion to save all of them. Because of this point he had long considered him to be just a marionette of fate, to serve the greater good albeit his name would never be found in history. And he was content with that.  You want to know why the post 5.3 scene is so very impactful and emotional? Because he finally found a place where he belongs to. Where people value him for what he is, for what he has done. Where he can grow and learn and is treated well. Where he can finally be like one of the heroes of the eld who can protect and save others - since his liking to such tales hails from his tragic background and the misery he had seen. And he had proven as much in the First already.
