Shoutout Sunday

I just wanted to collect some of the most memorable Astarion fanfics I've read so far and to give them and their authors a big ol' shoutout. These are some of the fics I strongly suggest others to check out, if you haven't yet.

Also, please feel free to comment and recommend your favorites as well! And, if you know of some of these authors on tumblr, lemme know, so I can add them too :) I'm not too good with words, so I'll be slapping some of the authors own words as descriptions (for now). Oh, and do be mindful of tags etc etc... Here goes, in no particular order:

If you want to read about two terribly broken men spending a good long while making each other worse before they make each other better, this might be for you. Inexhaustible Oil by homeward_bound "This is the absolute opposite of a redemption fic. A post-canon, fall-from-grace, "I can make you infinitely worse" kind of story, in which there is no simple happy ending. But there's mystery on the way. And dragons. True love, even. The Mage Did It (Probably) pt. 3

Double/late update because I was traveling, apparently can't read a calendar, use the schedule post function right. Editing is.. editing. I can't promise this is perfect here guys. Also, yes, Tyrus is who we blame for anything. ~ Gigabyte ---

Looking at the ducks in formation, Catherine frowned. Starting with magic right away was not ideal, but she didn’t see any other way around it. Mumbling a few words under her breath that sounded strangely close to fae Gaelic’s ancient roots, she focused on what little magic she could grasp at on the ducks. Magical symbols appeared etched into the rubber and glowed a bright blue before each duck exploded with a pop into non-existence. Satisfied, she walked forward, her path now clear, and took a seat next to Tyrus. “You know, ducks are a new low for you.”

Tyrus took another sip of his drink and glanced over, unimpressed. “You missed out on the flamingos last week.” He slurred his words together. “Been a few years since I’ve seen you. If you’re here to yell at me, get it over with. But this is an unseen bar, so I’m not doing anything illegal.” Distasteful, sure, but not illegal. “Travis?” He asked, waving down the bartender for another drink. “You transfigured all the ice into ducks,” the bartender told him, and went back to his job.

“Well excuse me, I wasn’t here last week.” Catherine stated. Flamingos would have been easier to deal with than his insane rubber duck army. “Warden Price told me that this was where I could find you.” She said. Pickled and transfiguring random bits and pieces into rubber ducks, flamingos, or anything else his alcohol addled brain came up with. “And for the record, I’m not here to yell at you. I have a job for you.” Catherine added. The alcoholism was going to be a challenge to deal with. Molly, Xiaolian, and Maria’s brands of chaos were going to be bad enough. Catherine didn’t want to add an alcoholic mage to the mix as well. “You can take it, or I can leave you here drowning your sorrows and feeling sorry for yourself. Your choice, Rahal.”

“Careful calling me that. It pisses the parents off.” He said and sat up more fully before pulling out a purple sobering potion and downing it. “Travis, can I just get some water? The potion doesn’t account for dehydration.” He asked. He was not all that thrilled to be sober, having been enjoying the buzz from the alcohol. But he also knew he was the most expensive consultant on call, and they had yet to waste his time. “What’s the job, Catherine?”

As is typical with AIB investigations, the details were kept confidential. The team was decimated, leaving only the injured warden. The cause was undisclosed.

“I don’t give a flying fuck what your parents think.” Catherine pointed out. She had spent this long flying under everyone’s radar. She intended to continue to do so. Her allegiances and loyalties outside of AIB were really nobody’s business, and she wasn’t about to share her entire life story with people she barely knew. “La Lechuza.” She said, “We have New York and Hong Kong’s space-time specialists, and a new academy grad. I just figured we’d add to team fuck up, you know?” Not that anyone really knew where she’d disappeared to for the last couple of years. The Council had been keeping quiet on that one. Instead, here she was again, suddenly, hair shocked completely white, thinner, and wearing glasses. “This is only if you’re interested, however.” Catherine emphasized.

He stretched and considered it. “La Lechuza, huh? You’ll need ranged spells for her.” He stood, amused, and downed the water the bartender had brought him, then gave a slight smile. “Sure. It’ll give me a break from the court’s research, and I could use a good fight. How the hell did a new academy graduate end up on team fuck up, though?” There was no way a fresh graduate could have pissed off the Council that much already.

“She volunteered.” Catherine deadpanned. Maria was just as insane, if not more so for even volunteering. “Spells, yes, but we need to know the specifics. It took out an entire team of specialists.” She clarified. Most of them, she had suspected, were human or very close to, which might have been why the Council had put together such an unusual team. Humans sat on the magical power or Orphic scale, at about a 3 max, whereas other members of the unseen could wield twice that. There were rumors of possibly individuals past a 6 on the scale, but they were just rumors and myths that no one really cared enough about to confirm either way. “Who the hell volunteers for Dallas? Have you sent her to a psychiatrist yet?” Choosing Dallas was the height of insanity. “I’ll dig out all the specifics tonight and have something ready for you tomorrow, probably around noon.” He offered, still shocked at the idea of someone volunteering to be a Dallas Specialist. “That’ll be shortly after I wake up, anyway. I’m pretty sure I know where in my library that information is. Good luck dealing with at least one insane team member. I still have your number from the last case we were on together, so I’ll call you there to confirm I have everything tomorrow.”

He headed out the door, already in a better mood, since he had something actually worthwhile to do and a decent fight to look forward to. Or at least it better be a decent fight.

Catherine didn’t know who in their right mind would volunteer for Dallas, but Tyrus may have had a point. “We’re all insane and we’re fucked.” She said to herself more than anyone else as she left. The sooner she got out of the bar, the better. The good news was she had convinced Tyrus to assist them. The bad news was it had been almost too easy.

That was a blast! I wonder what's that weapon that Heta is building. Is it related to force sensitivity or the typical super weapon bs? I hope the former, especially considering that this update introduced us to a new character that is neither Jedi nor Sith nor any other Force Religion member, Petra Nihrum - who is just a citizen of Ord Mantel who so happens to be... a force sensitive scoundrel? It's hard to pinpoint her class, but this is so cool. We are finally seeing someone who can use the Force but is not part of any side! We had some fraction of it in Raina Temple, who also is force sensitive, but the difference is HUGE. Staggering! Raina's ability to use the Force was small in comparison to Petra, who seems to have the typical familiarity with the Force that you usually can see in Sith and Jedi, who in most cases train since a very young age to be able to even lift a rock (Jedi Class Stories even show us initiates who struggle with lifting it). Petra reminds me a lot about Sith Inquisitor who as a slave would lack the background that Sith Warrior, Jedi Consular and Jedi Knight have in regard to training in the force. Sith Inquisitor is probably the only class that can't say they had formal training, but still present a staggering familiarity with the usage of the Force on the same level as Petra. I always loved this in SI's story because it implied that someone can use the Force but not know they're using the Force for the most of their lives and treat it as just some random ability they simply possess. Exactly like Petra! I hope we will see more of her in the future, because I got attached.

But it's not all. Sa'har finally TALKED TO US! I was wondering if we ever get a chance, because every time I tried before something just had to interrupt, or she just ran away. But now she talked to me, and I'm not as paranoid as Krovos to assume it was all just a part of a plan to fool me and do something to me. I don't think Sa'sar is the type to try to pull something like this off. She sounds genuine as far as I can tell. Also that scene when she just panicked in front of us? I was like "Is it a thinly veiled foreshadowing that I will become her new Master?" Like seriously, I wouldn't say no to training a new Padawan after I did the same for Ashara, but considering that the game is not told from the force sensitive perspective unless you play the class that is, there is a very small chance that we will be presented with such an option.

But damn how much I would want to raise another baby Jedi.

Anyway, there is one thing that bothers me tho. Not in a bad way, just in a suspicious way. That closeup at Sa'har's face at the end. After the warning from Krovos this closeup just feels fishy. I don't think they're trying to tell us that Sa'har just successfully fooled us, but it kinda felt sus after Krovos and her paranoia. A more logical assumption is that she is now in a tight spot. She just lied to her own brother about what she was doing (basically covering for both herself and us) and she is now once again in the center of everything, because she assumed a role in this that is more than it was before. At first, she was just going with the flow. Doing whatever Heta wanted, but now she made a step in our direction that made her more of a traitor than her unsuccessful attempts to sabotage whatever Heta was doing. Not to mention that she also had what that asshole Tyrus said in mind. It's possible that Sa'har will have to fight her own brother, and this is probably why she seemed so troubled, but... also determined to end all of this once and for all. I'm not sure if she believes she can liberate her brother from under Heta's influence. If she still has hope. But the last frame with her brows going down, it felt like she was determined to do something.

BTW I hope Shae enjoys her vacation, because the moment it was shown that she went missing my first reaction was "oh she got angry and vent on sabbatical to do something crazy". Like there is no way something happened to her. It's far more probable that she just went off the deep end and is training somewhere, or decided to invest in stealth and become a spy master that tracks Heta's every move from the shadows before she inevitably strikes like a vengeful cobra.

Tyrus Week Day 3

Things in Andi Mack that weren't talked about enough (by the show and the audience (I kinda started specifying but please know all of these apply to everyone)):

The fact that TJ works at a kiddie gym (I think it was a great subtle way to show character growth cause I can imagine him getting the job cause he wanted money but after meeting Cyrus he genuinely started enjoying. Wish we saw buffys reaction to it)

The fact that after only like 2 onscreen interactions Cyrus invited TJ to his bar mitzvah even though it was already way over limit (it was sweet and even though he kinda explained it I know I wouldn't have invited him at that point)

When Buffy tried to get Cryus to pick between her and TJ (I forgive you Buffy but I shall never forget. Also this is an example of Buffy being a bad friend and I understand why but I feel like they brushed over just how harmful that stuff is even if they did address it)

The fact that a middle schooler willingly told his popular friends about his "weird" friend (like it is so sweet, cause I have had guys who have had "crushes" on me but refuse to interact in person so him actually telling his friends is so sweet, I don't think the show needed to address this more I think the fandom should have)

Definitely don't think costume day was discussed enough (not particular parts just the entire thing)

Literally any of Cyrus' coming outs (which is fine cause I know that disney didn't want to make a big deal out of them but maybe just like a mention of it later in the series, especially his coming out to Buffy)

Marty's girlfriend whatever her name was (can't remember and don't care but I wish it was discussed more)

Also I could just be totally blanking here and they did discuss it but why exactly did TJ ever approach Cyrus in the first place? (Like it would have been so easy for TJ to have not and he would have stayed the douche, I think maybe he wanted someone to help him change. Either way the fact that I can't remember if they did or didn't address it means that it wasn't addressed well enough)

The specific line of "I don't think it disappeared, more changed" (like yeah we all know what it meant but everyone was so chill about it in the show ?!?!)

Anyways I just want you to all know that I miss Tyrus and TJ in particular

Pinky Promise -Tyrus-

In another world, TJ would have been upfront to Cyrus about his feelings from the start. They would be smiling, laughing, kissing and enjoying their times as boyfriends. However, TJ does not live in such world. In fact, he's not even in the right world to make Cyrus want to be around him; apparently, avoiding him is more desirable for the dark haired boy. TJ knew though, that even if Cyrus wasn't upset with him and he was braver, he may still have zero chance. He doesn't even know if Cyrus likes guys to begin with- what if he liked Andi? Or Buffy? Or literally any other girl?

TJ knew his musings were not helping matters though. So all he could do is move forward, and hope that he could at the very least fix things with Cyrus. It would help if TJ *knew* why Cyrus was upset mind you, but he couldn't think of one plausible reason. He doubted that the costume thing still upset Cyrus- but he didn't know what could be upsetting him. So until Cyrus was willing to talk, TJ would have to wait.

Speaking of waiting though, TJ had got a text back from Kira that he needed which stopped further Muffin-Musing for the time being.

Kira: Of course I'll give you a distraction! Meet me at the park and you can help me feed the ducks!

TJ: great! C U there.

TJ wanted to get out of the house and Cyrus was ignoring him, so he texting Kira in hopes she would have an idea and cheer him up. Ducks should do the trick! Kira just better stay clear of the swings though, because those are his and Cyrus' thing.

Once there, and early, TJ had finally received a message from Cyrus. Apparently Cyrus had found a shirt that he thought TJ would like. While he definitely did, he also knew that he couldn't say no even if he wanted to. So he texted Cyrus to meet him there. Maybe things were looking up and Cyrus would take up his offer and join him.

When Kira had arrived, it seemed she had changed her mind. Instead of ducks, Kira wanted to play on the swing set. TJ had tried to stop her- but she was insisting. So though he didn't want to, he ended up swinging. Though the swings were his and Cyrus' thing, he could not deny that swinging always made him feel better which was what he needed. So swing he did. In the end, he had fun. He knew he would though, for he enjoyed Kira's company. He still didn't want Kira sharing the swings with them though.

After some laughter and light bantering with Kira, TJ become aware of the time. Cyrus had yet to show. At first TJ had thought that Cyrus could prehaps be waiting somewhere nearby, but he couldn't find him. So TJ rationalized that Cyrus was probably just arriving, or would be soon because of a delay. Unfortunately for TJ though, upon further searching, he found that the situation was reversed. TJ had missed Cyrus- because he was already leaving. Cyrus apparently didn't even want to speak to him.

With that sight, all TJ wanted to do was go home. So he made up an excuse and walked in the opposite direction. Away from Kira. Away from the Swings. Away from the park itself. Away from anything that could have hurt Cyrus, all except himself. He could not walk away from himself. Suddenly, TJ was struck with a realization. Cyrus must be upset with TJ because he feels replaced. First with costume day, and now with the swings? TJ felt like a terrible friend in that instant. All he wants is to see Cyrus smile and to be the cause of it- not upset him further.

So home TJ went. A home that didn't exactly make TJ feel any better but rather worse. Especially because Amber wasn't home so he would have to deal with their parents fighting himself. In fact, as soon as he opened the door, he heard the tell tale signs of another fight. Though married, it seemed that all his parents ever did anymore was curse and scream at one another. Still- they tried to hide it from the kids, but it never worked.

"TJ! Hun! Tristan and I were just going over dinner options for tonight. Any suggestions?" Jennifer, TJ's mom, asked as if she wasn't just calling her husband every name under the sun.

"Maybe Spaghetti? I'm not very hungry though. I may grab a burrito or something later." TJ answered, playing along with her 'everything is fine' ruse.

Jennifer raised an eyebrow. It wasn't like TJ to decline food. She was about to mention this when Tristan spoke up. She had to fight to keep her from rolling her eyes. 'He loves to have the last word', she thought as he did so.

"We'll call you when supper is ready just in case you change your mind." Tristan stated, which effectively kept Jennifer from pushing the issue as she wanted to. Both knew that they would 'discuss' this later.

TJ took this his chance to escape upstairs so he could be alone. TJ's bedroom door wasn't even closed yet when the fighting resumed. TJ desperately wished things could go back to where they used to be, but the family was too broken now. Originally, if his father had found a better job, his parents could prehaps fix things, but after he lost his job, World War Kippen broke out. The arguments were no longer just about money; they fought about everything. Their bad relationship not only impacted TJ and Amber because they had to live in a toxic environment, but Amber became convinced that in order to be happy, she had to be in a happy relationship. TJ knew that things weren't great with Jonah and thus Amber was increasingly unhappy. Her being in pain, caused him pain. In conclusion, TJ was miserable.

TJ was tired of all of this. Tired of his sister hurting. Tired of him hurting. Tired of him hurting other people. Tired of his parents hurting eachother. Most of all though- TJ was tired of nothing going right. With that thought in mind, TJ ran outside, ignoring his parents, he had to be alone. He ran until he stopped at a familiar door and he was in tears. After knocking, he was rushed in by Cyrus' mom. She knew he wanted Cyrus, but all she could say was that he wasn't home.

TJ nodded tearfully, avoiding her questions and left. He sat out near the pond in the park until Amber had found him. Hugging him, she asked what was wrong. At her words, he sobbed harder, unable to talk. She just hugged him and let him do his thing. Afterwards, they walked back to the house, both with earplugs in to avoid their parents and went into TJ's room. Amber didn't want him to be alone so she laid down with him and cuddled in. Usually he would protest, but he was happy for her right than. It was what he needed. Soon, sleep over took both of them.

Over the next few days, TJ stayed out of the house as much as possible. He still felt horrible though. He didn't want to ruin his friendship with Kira, so even though he knew he was risking losing Cyrus for good, he continued to spend time with her. Eventually though, Cyrus was forced to talk to him. Both at school, neither had an excuse to leave. It was the perfect timing for TJ to talk to Cyrus finally.

"Cyrus? Can we please talk?" TJ pleaded once he spotted Cyrus.

Buffy and Andi, both nearby, had pushed Cyrus forward and walked away to leave the two in peace.

"Of course. How've you been Teej?"

TJ knew that he would have to be honest. No tough boy act would fix things.

"Horrible admittedly, which is why I wanted to talk to you."

Cyrus looked concerned at this, but before he could ask, TJ spoke again.

"I can't fix things with my parents. Nor can I do much to help my sister- but maybe I can fix things between us."

"Teej-"

"I wouldn't trade you for anyone in the world Cyrus. You are my best friend," Needing to take a deep breath, TJ continued after doing so, "I don't like

Kira more than you. I promise you."

At the mention of Kira, something had flashed in Cyrus' eyes. Jealousy. Though maybe wishful thinking, TJ had hoped it wasn't a platonic kind of jealously. He didn't push it though. Not yet. He wasn't ready to come out himself yet after all.

"Oh-"Cyrus could speak no more though because the bell rang. The two would have to speak in drama class that they shared.

Most of the day was uneventful, besides giving Buffy a ride on a golf cart, TJ really didn't do much else but do classwork. Thankfully for him, drama class had arrived. The class was doing a trials, with TJ being the suspect and Cyrus being his lawyer. At one point he changed outfits to show that it was a new day in the play as the teacher likes, and TJ had to state his full name but again, not much happened until afterwards.

TJ had finally gotten a line right he had been having trouble with, and as a result, everyone was ecstatic. TJ even got a hug from Cyrus. After the hug, Cyrus had to ask something

"Tristan Jr. Kippen, huh?"

"Can you see why I go by TJ?"

Both boys laughed and things were good between them for the time being.

The two went to the girls basketball game right after that and sat side by side. TJ relaying every play and Cyrus pretending to understand what was going on in. He didn't understand the end however. They had won! The two boys ran down to the court, and hugged excitedly quickly. Soon though, Cyrus had backed away and ran off, ignoring his calls.

The two didn't speak again till a few days later at Andi's celebration party for getting accepted to SAVA. TJ had found Cyrus on a bench and he sat down. Seeing Cyrus there, upset , and knowing that Cyrus was somehow hurt again and figuring Kira's presence must have caused it. TJ figured that he would need to try his hardest to fix things. Things became clear though as he stared in Cyrus' eyes. He was going to come out to Cyrus. Before he could say anything, Cyrus had started them off.

"Where's your girlfriend? Didn't you invite her?"

"I'm not dating Kira. I never was. I'm- I'm gay Cy."

At those words, TJ saw a hint of prehaps 'hope' fleet by his face and was reminded of the earlier jealousy. TJ took this an opportunity to prompt, "is there something you need to tell me?"

"I like you TJ. A lot"

Hearing that, TJ chose to cement his approval with a soft "me too", and latched his pinkie with Cyrus'. It was like a pinkie promise that everything was going to be okay with them. Things still weren't perfect in TJ's life, but he knew that with Cyrus by his side, he would feel much better. Cyrus has that effect on him after all.

A/N: it's 3:15 am but I promised to finish this before I went to bed

How the Andi Mack Fandom Treats Jonah Beck & Asher Angel

Nearing the end of the show everything feels more like a fiendom than a fandom. One of the biggest problems include, but are not limited to everyone's treatment or general disregard/disrespect to certain characters in the show and by extension their actors, another big problem is the attempt to block the ability of free choice from fellow fandom mates by attempting to decide what they can or cannot do so let's make a couple of things clear-

I & any other Jyrus stan can ship whatever we want

I don't have to hail Tyrus even if I do ship it to a certain extent

I can & will state my grievances with Tyrus if I want

I can & will make fun of the Tyrus ship if I want (Tyrus shippers do it all the time to Jyrus so why can't we)

If I or any other person decide to make a post with the universal Tyrus shippers tag or whatever in said post it's not always gonna be something you know or remember seeing, but it might be something we've seen multiple times or in short it's not always about you

Now to the meat of the post this fandoms treatment of Asher Angel and his character Jonah Beck, one of my favorite actors and my favorite Andi Mack character respectively. This makes me mad in about seven different ways and here's why.

Unfair judgement over the supposed usage of a racist phrase

This was awhile back, but like it makes me upset because he didn't actually say anything and it was in the context of a song. Like yeah I get the song had the 'n' word in it, but he didn't actually say it? Like he may have mouthed the word maybe, but he didn't say it and as a person of color who this pertains to I didn't find anything offensive about the phrase in that context. I've spoken to others and they didn't find it offensive either and with the risk of being rude when I say this frankly if you aren't black you have no right to get offended because the slur was not used to shame you or your ancestors so stop trying to be a social justice warrior or using fake offenses to justify your hatred of a kid.

Undeserved hatred for the character Jonah Beck

Jonah Beck gets a lot of bad rep in this fandom which to me feels horrible because he's my favorite character in all of Andi Mack. He's adorable, a dork, kinda athletic, easily distracted by cute boys, and has big dumb energy which I absolutely love. He's not really good at relationships, but I think everyone misses that none of the GHC is good at relationships which us fair I mean they're in middle school. Literally none of their relationships lasted. Cyrus and Andi spend so much time in the beginning of the show pinning after a boy who they think I'd perfect and they don't really know or understand. Andi and Jonah both changed their minds like whiplash when it came to their relationship. Buffy legit pushes away any boy who showed romantic interest in her regardless if she did or didn't like them back until she was faced with possibly losing them forever to another girl. Andi and Cyrus, in conclusion, don't get to know the people they're attracted to and are not prepared for not getting a perfect specimen and instead dating a human. For Jonah no one really continually tells him what they want him to be doing in the relationship or how to make the relationship work. Buffy continuously denies her feelings until they boil over.

Undeserved judgement of Asher Angel

Asher Angel got judged heavily for not attending the cast party and instead taking his girlfriend on a date a little about away from the party. He's allowed to do that. Parties are optional. This doesn't mean he doesn't like his cast members or hates the show or some other bull that you may have seen or decided. What it means is that he's a nice boyfriend who probably feels like his girlfriend might have been feeling a bit alone or something similar due to her boyfriend being a very busy actor? Maybe he didn't want to attend the party. Maybe he doesn't like parties. It is so not that big of a deal and the fact that so many people were mad because he decided that he didn't want to do this one little thing that was outside of his contract is frankly amazing and annoying. He's allowed free will and not everything he does has to be in relation to Andi Mack.

Conclusion

I love Andi Mack. I would like a season 4, but you are trippin' if you think I'll accept a season 4 if none of this changes because the facts are that this fandom is downright crappy when it comes to Jonah Beck and Asher Angel and I've seen people disguise it as bringing up the character/actor while actually bringing them down and I do not appreciate it. If you think my opinion is invalid or something you won't be laughing when Asher Angel refuses to come back for a possible season 4 of Andi Mack or a movie. So my suggestion is that you guys stop bashing Asher Angel, learn to be polite, and apologize if you can because this stuff is hurtful. Also remember that Asher isn't bound to this fandom he's a good actor and he's got fans. People adore his performance in Shazam! They adore his songs, or they just like him. It isn't going to destroy his career if he doesn't come back because he fans will understand considering the general nastiness that this fandom throws at Asher.

New beginnings/ chapter 11

[Jonah and Marty ^^]

“So this is why you told me to wear bad shoes.” Marty let out a breathy laugh looking around at the familiar space of woods that was the setting for most of his and Jonah's childhood hangouts. The air was cool and it looked like it was about to start storming.

“I haven't been here in forever.” Marty said breaking the silence. “Yeah, I wonder if the car is still here.” Jonah said referring to the old car that was in the middle of a then dried up creek. “I can't imagine someone with the time to remove it.” marty said “but let's go see!” he darted passed Jonah making his way down to the creek. Eventually, Jonah caught up to him. “Wow” Jonah said “Someone actually had the time to remove it.” Marty deadpanned and Jonah bursted out laughing which made marty laugh which lasted a while. To be clear, it wasn't that funny to begin with but Jonah laughed at everything especially when it came to marty. As they calmed down marty spoke up “So” marty sat down on a rock and looked up to Jonah. Jonah was oblivious, but he knew that Marty was expecting some kind of answer as to why he has been avoiding him. “My parents filed for bankruptcy” he said in an almost whisper, his eyes meeting Marty's shoes. “what?” Marty asked concerned. Jonah and marty have been best friends for ages why didn't he tell him? “I wanted to tell you so many times. I just didn't know how. it's embarrassing.”  Jonah confessed. Marty could have slapped him right then and there. “Dude that's not embarrassing, that's life. Stuff happens and it's not your fault! I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me to be I was so caught up hanging out with T.J and Buffy I never stopped to ask how you are.” Marty said sighing, now clearly angry with himself. “Did my moms know?” He asked starting to connect some dots. Jonah had on a guilty expression as he said “yeah that day you were late coming home my mom texted me saying we were going to fine and I don't know what happened but i had a panic attack in your driveway and lorraine came out and calmed me down and after i told her what caused it. I said it was alright that she tells Katherine. I'm sorry i didn't tell you sooner it just got so out of control.” he explained. Marty shook his head, “No I'm sorry. I can't believe I missed all of this.” Marty said in disbelief. “I crashed with some family members nearby and your moms I guess sympathized with me feeling like I was intruding and started randomly asking me to come over and eventually it just became a habit to come over everyday. It became so long that I just felt bad about how long it was taking me to tell you.” jonah sighed “you didn't have to tell me Jonah now was an okay time.” putting a hand on his shoulder. “We can continue this talk but it looks like it's about to rain so….my house?” Marty asked and instead of giving an answer Jonah ran back up the hill

“I'll beat you there.”

Best gift you've ever gotten: my answer for this acutally just changed recently. context: my grandparents all died before i was born/when i was 2/3, so i don't have much to remember them by. my mom was visiting my aunt (her oldest sister) this summer and my aunt gave my mom my grandpa's mandolin to give to me. one of my uncles had said that maybe my cousin would like it (he's also very musical, about 4 yrs older than me), but my aunt thought that i should have it because i don't have much to remember my grandpa from. just a couple home videos really. anyway, my mom told me this story and gave me the mandolin and i just absolutely bawled my eyes out.

Nicest thing anyone's ever done for you: when i get very overwhelmed my oldest sister will listen to me and help me prioritize things until they don't seem so daunting. she will even take on tasks that i want to finish but don't necessarily have to do myself if she thinks it will help. it's something that i appreciate endlessly. i know that it's not her job, and sometimes i feel bad that i'm bothering her, but it’s always so helpful and reminds me how much she cares about me.

Favourite holiday memory: when i was 12 we went to hawaii and the guy at the surf shop told us about this breakfast restaurant that we needed to go to for banana pancakes with macadamia nut sauce so we did and that was the most delicious breakfast i've ever had.

Where you want to go once you can travel again: lmao technically we can travel now but i don't have a passport atm 🙃. When i finally get around to it, i really want to go to a convention or something to see my favourite creators. i've realized that i have the ability to do random shit now as an adult and i'm ready to finally try doing the things i was always too embarrassed about/didn't want to ask my parents for.

Animal you identify with: cats! i love cuddling until i don't, i like things to be done on my terms, i like to take naps, and i have a habit of nuzzling my face into people that i love.

Best gift you’ve ever gotten: I would have to say the best gift I ever got came from my old high school ap lit teacher/theater director I was in the plays every year from 7th-12th grade and she got me a necklace with the drama faces on it along with a jewelry box that played at the beginning from Anastasia, which was the first song I ever sang with her on stage, when I graduated so yeah she gets the win everytime cuz she had me bawling like a baby at the final cast party we did

Nicest thing anyone’s ever done for you: I have 4 different friends who on 4 different occasions just bought me gifts not because of anything special or because they felt sorry over us fighting or something just they saw something and genuinely thought I would like it. I honestly just love receiving gifts that someone gets you out of the blue just because they simply think of you after seeing something and get it for you like it definitely means a lot to me that I'm the first person they thought of when getting those things

Your favourite holiday memory: Um... I honestly don't know if I have one, but something that I look back and think fondly of is when the one year my mom and I caroled with our church choir like I remember all the baking we did the day before in the church kitchen and it was a lot of us singing to Christmas songs that probably shouldn't be played in church lol and the caroling itself went well we gave out plates of cookies and caroled for any person who was on our prayer list at the time and seeing some of those people's faces like them seeing that people did care and that they weren't alone meant everything to me

Where you want to go first once we can travel again: New Zealand it's always looked so beautiful plus I mean that's where Lucy Lawless is from so it has to be amazing

New beginnings// Chapter 5

“Before you go!” Cyrus grabbed buffy's arm  catching her attention. “What?” She asked

“My dad has a patient and my mom is at a meeting so I can't go to the gym after school i have to get my brother.” He said,[bloop] “CYRUS” buffy groaned “i know i know I'm sorry but hey! Look you can ask marty” he gestured to the boy in front of him sitting down.“Marty can do what?” He asked, hesitantly.  “Can you come watch practice after school? I need some help with the girls.” she lied. She didn't want to say he needed someone else to be there when T.J is there because she isn't good with talking to new people, there tends to be a lot of awkward pauses that she would like to avoid. “You needed help? With basketball? And you asked cyrus?” he teased, stopping as he noticed buffy and andi sending him death glares. “Sorry” he said quickly, looking to Cyrus.“none taken”.

“where are you going now?” Marty asked realizing buffy wasn't about to sit down “I'm going to the gym to practice some throws by myself.” she said turning around and heading out the cafeteria doors.

When she opened the she could hear the basketball hitting the gym floor when she turned the corner she mentally cursed herself realizing it was T.J. and he was about to shoot in the goal next to her. When he made eye contact he slowly lowered his hands. “wasn't expecting to see you for a few more hours” he said awkwardly rolling the ball in his hand.“That would have been a disappointment” she said to which T.J raised an eyebrow.  “We have history together next class.” she clarified. “Already here might as well break the ice” she thought to herself walking over to him. “So, Amber tells you were good.” she said looking towards the basketball “want to see who's better?” She asked taking the ball before he could give an answer “i… guess, are you sure we have time?” He asked not completely interested. “depends. on how good you are.” she teased shooting the ball in the hoop.

As the one sided banter continued buffy eventually won too quick for her liking. “Did you let me win?” She wondered out loud, with a hint of aggravation clear in her voice. “Wow, I have never seen anyone get mad about winning.” T.J said anxiously pushing a hand through his hair. “I'm not mad because I won, I'm mad because- well I'm not even mad. I just don't like people going easy on me!” she kept on.

“I didn't let you win alright? I just haven't played since i was back home it feels weird.” he confessed causing buffy to feel regret. “I'm sorry” she apologized and hesitated before adding “I moved away from my friends Cyrus and Andi once.” That caught T.J's attention. “You did? How was that?” He asked a troubled expression set on his face “Terrible” she nervously sniggered “Something tells me you're going through it now so I guess you know.” she said getting sad even thinking about it. “I had two friends back home well, actually i had a lot of friends back home” he laughed “but maybe you know how it is, I was team captain so for some reason that made a lot of girls like me” he recalled.  “Someone's confident” buffy mumbled, jokingly causing T.J to laugh “hey! No It's not like that.” he laughed. “it's probably the one thing I don't miss about it” he added “What you don't miss girls being engrossed by you?” she joked “Well I'm gay so I really couldn't care less.” he laughed “but even if I was straight I don't think I would care for all of that.” He said and wondered if it was actually true.”it wasn't like they liked me it was like they liked that I played basketball and had a lot of friends but none of those friends actually knew me besides the two that I mentioned before i just don't think I'll find any friends like them.” he thought out loud. “When i moved for 6 months i told myself i wasn't going to meet anyone like cyrus and and and i didn't. Mostly because there is no one like cyrus and Andi. but, I'm sure if I tried I would have found some people worth getting to know and I'm sure you will too even if they're not like you're old friends” she assured him.

After that the topic changed from one topic to the other and by the time the bell rang T.J was sure of something, Buffy driscoll was definitely someone worth getting to know.
