seeing the art that likely inspired this ask and i gotta say, it'd be pretty hilarious to think that ford would give up on the stan o war just because of nausea after all the things he'd been through (and i'm pretty sure it was said that dimension hopping makes you feel super sick??? i sure hope my brain didn't just make that up outta nowhere....) and even if it did effect him a shitton, this is mr 'nutritional pills, metal plate in my head and huh maybe i should build myself bionic eyes' that really wouldn't stop him
but also it's funny to me that some assume that they're stuck on the boat only and won't go ashore (i think stan would complain more about camping than boat plumbing but we also know that stan likes camping cos they used to do it tons as kids if only that one ep idea wasnt cut huh)
I’ve been seeing a couple posts as of late where some people have been arguing that the stan twins wouldn’t spend the rest of their lives on the stan o war ll and that they’d do it for a little under a year. I’m honestly torn between the two because while one is more realistic and makes more sense, I’m also really sappy and I love the idea that they grew up by the sea and that they’d grow old by the sea.
Do you have any thoughts about it??
i really do lean towards them spending most of the rest of their lives on the boat (and even if they don't, under a year is wayyyyy too little imo) mostly because realism haunted their backstories and lives which made them miserable for so long that there's a sense of "you know what? fuck that! ford spent years being a freaking scifi hero dimensional traveller and stan punched a demon god to death! we get to choose how we live out the rest of our lives" ya know? something something ford's self written scifi greek tragedy being defied with the kids' help and that helping him be resolved in deciding how he wants to live now
there's also the comedy of stan's retirement being far chaotic than most of what he faced over the past 30 years of stubbornly avoiding most trouble and mysteries that came his way and i just want that shit to continue escalating
of course i dont think their life on the stan o war is going to be all sunshines and rainbows-- they both have extreme issues and being freed from the kids comedy coming of age genre means they're probably going to get into more grim trouble (not helped bill's "still on your mind" being directed at stan...)
but from what we see from the ending and that stan o war comic page they seem really happy and used to that life now

(but also i have a bias for a certain ending cos of this comic lmao)
