I feel like people who don’t wear historical clothing on a regular basis don’t understand just how comfortable and practical it is?

It’s been in the lower 100s/lower 40s for the last couple of weeks and when I go out in a chemise, corset, bustlepad, petticoat, corset cover, blouse, and skirt, the hottest part of my body is still my face because I need a bigger hat.

It’s legitimately fine temperature wise. It’s not even a summer corset, but it is all cotton.

And that is the beauty of natural fibers. Plus I ditched the stockings and wear Obama socks and that also helps

I made my first bustle pad today. If you are not familiar with bustle pads, they were used in the victorian era to puff up the back of the woman's skirt. You can use it by itself or with a wired bustle to get a more rounded shape. I made one because I am going to start making more victorian-goth outfits to wear, and I needed the proper undergarments for them. I will make a bustle and corset next.
