“It’s not a question of what’s next. It’s what’s happening right now. Right in front of you.”
These are the words from the seventeen-year old visionary Seto Kaiba, known worldwide as the reigning Duel Monsters champion and CEO of KaibaCorp (TSE:KBA). His advice seems perfect for this moment: he is standing right in front of a gigantic dragon. It is screaming and ready to attack and he is fearless.
The creature in question is one of three in the world that belong to the young CEO: Blue Eyes White Dragon, a rare Duel Monsters card and the star of KaibaCorp’s impromptu demonstration of its latest project: Scheherazade.
Named after the fabled storyteller of “One Thousand and One Nights,” Scheherazade is as much a technological marvel as it is a philosophical leap forward. The platform creates immersive worlds drawn from both written stories and players’ own memories, merging fiction and reality into a seamless experience. A combination of machine learning, memory recall, and advanced simulation technology allows the system to respond and adapt for real-time, constant immersion. While virtual reality has been evolving steadily over the past decade, Scheherazade’s memory integration takes it to another level, with unprecedented possibilities for storytelling, education, and, of course, gaming.
Its most immediate application will be for duelists, offering fully interactive Duel Monsters matches in an arena where the creatures seem to step out of the cards and into life. Industry insiders speculate that this move could put KaibaCorp at the forefront of both gaming and virtual reality, potentially outpacing rivals like Industrial Illusions (NYSE:ILL) and Meta (NASDAQ: META).
This is the latest in the bold new direction forged under young Kaiba’s leadership, which transformed KaibaCorp from an arms contractor to a tech powerhouse, pioneering innovations at the intersection of telecommunications, augmented reality and entertainment. His youth left him no shortage of ideas, and he set the company on course for a seismic shift in focus. He went on a buying spree, absorbing a staggering number of promising computer technology companies in his first quarter as CEO. He also terminated operations at KaibaCorp’s global weapons testing centres and completely divested the company from projects supporting armed conflict. These actions led KaibaCorp to several high-profile lawsuits for defaulting on its contracts and sales agreements. These disputes were settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
Between the payouts, acquisitions and lack of customers, KaibaCorp was teetering on financial ruin. The company was saved with Kaiba’s most notable innovation: SolidVision, the holographic projection technology that brought Duel Monsters to life. This was followed by the Duel Disk, a revolutionary p2p interface that allowed duelists to compete in real-time holographic battles, becoming a staple for competitive players across the world. These commercial successes catapulted KaibaCorp into global fame and made Duel Monsters a cultural phenomenon, while signalling KaibaCorp’s new mission: to create, not destroy.
This pursuit has now brought KaibaCorp to the verge of another groundbreaking moment. Scheherazade, set to roll out this summer, will first be available at stadiums and theme parks before making its way into homes through a specialised hardware release. Duelists and VR enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting the chance to immerse themselves in the fully realised worlds this technology promises to deliver.
In many ways, KaibaCorp’s evolution is as poetic as it is fascinating. What was once a company defined by its contribution to destruction is now positioned to offer the world a new way of seeing itself, through stories, memories, and duels.

As far as I know billionaires and major corporations have incredible leveraging power over almost any government - they can leave taking their money and working positions to another country. I hope, you realize that capital (main financial resources like businesses and established money owners) is constantly moving and rich like to have many places they can strategically retreat to (like Musk is pushing for Mars for the same idea in case of nuclear catastrophe). The reasonable thing - and Europe proved that it works - is to have strong unions to protect actual people who need protecting From the ones who wield power over them and to keep salaries on par with inflation. Second important thing - is to tax the damn rich. Because despite what you may be thinking they are not paying a dime from their profits and actually, ACTUALLY - and that is true - due to constant pressure on the government they hog huge amounts of taxes payed by average workers. Government keeps financially supporting huge businesses through many business support programs. And THAT is how those people become billionaires. They work employees to the bone - both Bezos and Mask are notorious for it, they sue their former workers for leaving, like Bill Gates which is also not news for last thirty years at least. They kill any possible competitors with vague patents and lawsuits that dry smaller companies out of money or they steal or imitate whatever was innovated by smaller creators or scientists to fill the niche first. Then they buy successful companies to keep their technologies and innovations and bleed them dry or resell in parts.
I hope you know that Apple exists simply because Microsoft was under investigation for monopolizing the area and Bill Gates decided to sponsor them instead of destroying because of that. Huge fossil fuel companies like Shell, BP or Exxon Mobil are actively involved in international politics and have huge shares and leverages in many governments around the world where they sponsored building of fuel extraction and transporting systems. The smart idea, and in some countries it was implemented successfully - is not only to make rich pay much bigger taxes on their income then average person, but also make them pay much bigger fines too, according with the level of personal wealth. And the thing is - they will still be rich even after paying all the damn taxes and fines, but there would be finally less billionaires in the world and more money for fixing all the problems they already caused. Yes, climate change included.

Infinite growth mindset in capitalism.
Companies like YouTube and Discord that ran off a seemingly infinite well of startup venture capital know how to blow their money, and now, must subsist almost entirely off of advertiser revenue.
Not only that, but have you ever noticed how these apps have undergone an endless cycle of accreting new UI functionalities that actively hamper the user experience? YouTube comments on mobile often don't load because of a ton of interfering widgets and menus that clutter the screen. Discord has far too many features for any reasonable person familiar only with fundamental IRC technology to be able to successfully leverage.
Publicly traded companies are under near-constant pressure to deliver some identifiable value to shareholders. The marketplace demands constant innovation, even at the cost of stability and basic functionality. To address the Darwinism underlying not only the Silicon Valley jungle but all of the corporate world, companies continue to add new features or redesign their interfaces to signal superficial progress and justify their market valuation.
"Potatoification."
This "infinite growth mindset" is what my friend Etik called potatoification, as even small amounts of light can trigger a potato to begin sprouting until its limbs take up an entire room in your house. (True story.)
This mindset is tied to the fundamental structure of a publicly traded profit corporation: The corporate board of directors are fiduciarily obligated to their shareholders to refrain from negligence and to act in good faith and with the best interests of the corporation in mind.
A corporate board's entire existence is predicated on navigating one omnipresent dilemma—namely, they must satisfy their fiduciary duties to their shareholders by:
Making distributions of profit to shareholders.
Reinvesting those profits back into the company.
Boards for the major tech companies opt for the latter horn of the dilemma most of the time, marshaling revenue into R&D, marketing, and—most pertinently—feature expansion. This reinvestment justifies their obscene market capitalizations and withholding profits from shareholders while presenting the facade of unyielding progress.
Chasing infinite growth, therefore, frustrates what should be the fundamental purpose of any business, whether in the trade of goods or services: offering a product that works.
Marxist perspective.
As Marx and Engels diagnosed, the free market regularly faces problems of excess producer supply, as more surplus value is extracted from wage labor, with too little comparative adequate demand. They hypothesized that this trend of overproduction is the inevitable outcome of the capitalist mode of production.
Users may be perfectly happy with a stable, functional product, but stability is not equivalent to growth. Tech companies must compete faster, harder, and smarter in the hopes of capturing an ever-increasing share of the market.
The infinite growth mindset, therefore, is just a corporatized version of the "hot hand" fallacy.
