Your destination might change its rules at any time. And violations could lead to heftier fines and even jail.

7 Top Benefits of Quality Web Design and SEO to Grow your Business in Mauritius
Digital marketing is a vital part of running a successful business these days. And with the average amount of time a person spends online increases every year, digital marketing is only becoming more and more essential. Working with a digital marketing agency in Mauritius can help you grow your business and reach more clients, but that’s not where the benefits end.
At first glimpse, digital marketing may seem pretty straightforward – all it needs is an internet connection and some clicks. But if you want to drive a successful marketing campaign, you can’t just log into your site and wing it. Instead, the task takes careful planning, proper tools and tactics, and good knowledge of online marketing trends. In fact, it’s probably best to hire professionals. There are several benefits to working with a digital marketing agency. If you’re on the fence, these benefits might tip you towards hiring experts.
1. Accessing the Skill and Tools you Need
Digital marketing agencies hire people passionate about the subject, trained in the proper techniques, and have experience in getting results for businesses just like yours. In addition to that, digital marketing agencies regularly use programs and tools that most people are unfamiliar with or don’t know how to use accurately to take their work to the next level. And when you hire the professionals, you get to reap the advantages of their skills, talents, and tools that you might not be ready to take advantage of.
2. You’re Always on Top of the Latest Trends
If you’ve ever worked on following the trends, search algorithm updates, and new strategies & tactics in digital marketing, you know how steadily it changes. Unless your profession is in digital marketing, you’re probably just not achieving the top of it all. It takes a lot of time that you don’t have!
Plus, there are so many various aspects of digital marketing. Social media, SEO services, email marketing, content, video, paid ads…the list of plans is long, and you can’t probably follow what’s trending in all of them.
3. You Get Better Website Designs
There’s only very much you can do on your own. Using a site template will leave you with a boring website that seems like everything else. You want your clients to get excited about your website, and a Website designer in Mauritius can do that for you. They will provide your website its design while keeping it easy to navigate and user-friendly.
4. Your Website will be SEO Optimized
A digital marketing agency can provide your website with excellent search engine ranks. This means it will appear top in the search results, and more people will search you. If your website isn’t SEO optimized, it will be difficult for possible clients to find you. And if they can’t discover your website, you are losing clients.
By working with a SEO agency in Mauritius, you’ll be able to understand your analytics better. And with that information, you can ensure that you’re running your business and your website in the best way possible.
5. Your Internal Marketing Team is Extended
You’ve made your own internal marketing team, but hiring a digital marketing agency is like extending it – big time. Particularly if you’re a small or medium-sized company, you’re probably not going to hire your own social media specialist, your own SEO specialist, your own paid ads person…that’s not sustainable. Instead, hiring a company puts all those experts on your team.
Click here if you are looking for a digital agency in Mauritius that Specialize in all aspects of online marketing, including web design, SEO, social media marketing, and even mobile app development.

My Solo trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania
Jambo (a Swahili greeting when translated to English means) Hello!
It’s been well over a couple of days since I arrived home from my trip in Zanzibar. I’ve finally managed to pen down my experience and I hope it gets to help many of you, who have been asking me about it, carefully plan yours as well.
I embarked on my journey to Zanzibar on Christmas day, many would ask why but having lived in Malaysia, a Muslim country for the past four years, Christmas had become just another day that I had gotten accustomed to not celebrating. However Christmas greetings and hugs with my family were shared before I had to board my plane at 06h45.
Thank you South African Airways and Precision Air my connecting flights to and from Windhoek to Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar and vice versa which were nothing short of amazing. Although I had concerns about Precision Air with regards to flight delays and loss of luggage due to a few bad reviews that I had read on TripAdvisor prior to my trip.
So if you ever are flying from Dar es Salaam, or from any other domestic places within Tanzania such as Arusha perhaps you can try and source for another airline such as ZanAir or Coastal Aviation but I would still advise you read up various reviews on those airlines as well just to be sure.
Why Zanzibar you may ask?
Well, from pictures, videos and a great conversation between a Tanzanian friend and I whom I had met during university I just knew that it was one of those places on my bucket list that I wanted to tick off.
To be honest when I kick started of planning my trip over a year ago, I had initially planned to go to London but then I remembered how horrible the weather was in December the last time I was there, so I opted to go somewhere warmer because you don’t get to explore much when it’s cold.
Mauritius was another island I had considered but taking into consideration all the admin work that needed to be done and recalling the not so great one night stay experience I had in the country two years ago, I decided that I was not going to put myself through that kind of stress again.
So Zanzibar it was, plus being a Namibian citizen meant that I did not need a visa to enter Tanzania as Namibian’s are exempted for about 90days.Tanzania and Zanzibar make use of the same visa so you don’t have to worry about being stopped by immigration at both Julius Nyerere International Airport and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport.
For any of you who do not hold a passport that offers visa exemption to Tanzania do make sure with your individual country visa requirements as to what procedures you should follow to obtain one.
So what and where is Zanzibar?
Zanzibar is a city located east of Africa and is found about 70 kilometres from the mainland of Tanzania. It is split into parts where one can find Stone Town which is UNESCO World Heritage. This part of Zanzibar is also where one would mostly find a lot of people conducting various businesses either through selling hand made goods, excursions or even operating hotels, stores etc.
Then there’s the island side of Zanzibar which I believe we have all seen through the media. There are a number of islands with two main big ones namely Unguja and Pemba Island. Do make sure too visit and stay in Stone Town for a few days before heading down to any island of your choice.
NB take note of:
Currency used in Zanzibar is US Dollars or Tanzanian Shillings, they accept both but also note that they do not accept any USD made before the year 2007.
Departure tax, sometimes if this is not paid for in your flight ticket you will have to pay USD 50 when leaving Zanzibar airport.
Zanzibar has a large population of Muslims, remember to dress decently as it is very important to respect other people’s way of life, when in Stone Town try and cover up as much as you can. However on the islands being in your swimsuits and trunks is not frowned upon.
Get a Yellow Fever injection from your doctor one month before you embark on your journey.
Your passport should have a six months validity.
Zanzibar has fairly humid weather, pack wisely.
Don’t forget to pack yourself mosquito repellent as you will need it.
Main languages spoken in Zanzibar are Swahili, Arabic and English
How I planned?
Whenever I travel I always draft up an itinerary as this helps me a lot with calculations and anything that I might miss if not written down.
Savings - I made it a goal in the beginning of last year (2018) that each month I would save about N$ 3500 (USD 244) for my trip. These savings were to make sure I could purchase my flight ticket, buy a few items, pay for accommodation, food, activities and still have extra money just in case of any emergencies because with traveling one can never be too sure.
Flight – I had an agent from Blueberry Travel Namibia book my ticket for me. Other agents I had also considered were Trip Travel, Rennies Travel and Welwitschia Travel, but I opted to go with Blueberry because they were efficient and also gave me two flight options varying in price difference of about N$ 1800 (USD 125).
In addition depending on which agent you choose to go for please do make sure you request that your agent also provides you with travel insurance because this can save you a lot. I paid about N$ 350 (USD 26) for mine.
Accommodation – I made use of booking.com which is a worldwide site that helps one find accommodation depending on the price you want. The good thing about booking.com is that it comes with reviews, information on services that the place of accommodation offers, pictures of what it looks like, nearby tourist attractions as well as options that allow one to reserve a room and only pay on arrival. So if you change your mind on where you want to stay you won’t lose out on anything and you can easily cancel your reservation.
As I am not big on staying in 5 star hotels because I am more of an experience life on the edge kind of person in most cases I’d either stay at a guest house or a female dormitory backpacker’s hostel while taking safety and cleanliness into consideration. These types of accommodations are great if you’re looking to interact with people, I sometimes feel that it should be a goal as a solo traveller to want to meet and talk to people and this is a great way to do it.
While in Stone Town I stayed at Ten to Ten Hostel for three days. I had paid N$ 750 (USD 54) with city tax included. In Jambiani which is the island I went to for another three days,I stayed at Vanilla House run by a Polish and Maasai couple. I paid N$ 630 (USD 45) city tax included as well and had slept in a mixed dorm room.
Do make sure that when booking your accommodation through any website that city tax has been included into the price to prevent any surprises of having to pay more than you had budgeted for when you arrive.
Food – I had a budget of about N$ 270 (USD 20). This was only for lunch, dinner and snacking food items in between as my breakfast was included in both my accommodation packages. Food is relatively affordable in Zanzibar, one would normally spend about USD 10 per meal. And there is an array of food choices.
Transport on the ground – Stone town is very small you can go anywhere within the area by foot as everything is close by. However you will have to pay for transport if you plan on going to any of the Zanzibar islands as they are quite far depending on where you go.
My accommodation provided shared transport to various islands. The total cost of the transfers are usually around USD 40 if you go by yourself but if you choose the sharing van option depending on the number of people in the van you might end up paying a quarter of the full price. I only paid USD 10 as opposed to USD 40 for the shared transfer I was in. Spesho the driver of the van was a ball of fun to drive with I highly recommend him you can WhatsApp him on +255715297037.
There is also another mode of transport called Dala dala, the cheapest mode of transport for about USD 3 you can take one towards the island of your choice but note that it takes much longer to reach ones destination.
Activities – I did not spend much on this because exploring is basically free unless you opt to go for city tours. There a many local people who will approach you for tours but politely decline if you do not want one.
The only activity I paid for was a village tour as I am very into interacting with communities. This tour was offered by @colorsofzanzibar on Instagram for about USD 50 which included a tour to a sea weed village, local school, a woman who taught me how to make rope out of coconut fibre, a local traditional meal of choice, a visit to the local hospital and a tour around the village and its local homes which are called Kibandas.
My Trip
Starting off from Stone Town
If I could describe Zanzibar to someone it would be that it is not like what I have seen on TV or in magazines, it was is so much more than I expected it to be. Every little detail in Stone Town was beautiful. The name Stone Town says it all, it gets its name from the ornate houses built with local stone by Arab traders and slavers during the 19th Century.
When I travel I always look to see if a place is able to make me feel at home and that’s exactly how I felt when I arrived. From the moment I landed people were very welcoming, everyone smiles and greets you with a jolly Karibu which means welcome and I knew then and there that I was going to have a great time.
The airport is rather very small so don’t be surprised, just adapt. There are also various airport transfers that can take you to your destination. I made use of Bennito who came highly recommended on all the research sites when I was planning my trip. Noting that I had arrived in the evening I wanted to make use of a reliable and safe transfer so Bennito it was, you can find him on Instagram @zanzibardestination or WhatsApp him on +255 743 072 597 and he charges USD 12 to Stone Town which is a 40 minute drive from the airport.
Just a heads up, there are no traffic lights or stops in Zanzibar so people drive like maniacs however don’t worry too much about the driving because they know their roads so trust that you will be okay.
When I arrived at my hostel, I noticed how filled the streets of Stone Town were with many tourists from all corners of the world as well as its residents walking around and socialising. As I mentioned earlier I stayed at Ten to Ten hostel which was very welcoming. Since it is somewhat of a newly built accommodation everything was really clean which I liked and it was centred basically in an area that was safe, surrounded by a number of places to eat and attractions.
My Highlights of Stone town.
I explored Stone Town by myself and whenever I got lost people were always willing to direct me the right way. I visited the Secret Garden at Emerson spice tea house where I had lunch and I was taken on a free tour of the hotel itself. It’s always good to ask if this can been done because you never know what you can score for free.
I also took a walk to Forodhani Garden which was a minute away from my accommodation. Basically this is a food market near a waterfront and every day just before sunset young teenage boys gather at the water front and jump off into the water to cool themselves.
I then also went to Darajani Market and the local fish market which was a free activity as welll. Along the way I stumbled upon Jaws corner, which is a corner where men usually meet every day to drink a cup of spice tea while discussing various life topics.
In addition I also went to a traditional spa called Mrembo Spa, where I chose a head, neck and back massage. This spa also helps Swahili females who are in the process of getting married prepare their bodies by clearing their skin to make it smoother before the big day. It also offers workshops where one can learn how to make incense sticks among other things. Mrembo spa can be found on Instagram @mrembospa or visit their website at www.mrembospa.com for their contact details.
Another discovery I came across was the House of Spices, which is a restaurant that till this day maintains its Arabic atmosphere and touring around the space was free.
All these places that I had gone too were located really near my hostel. It would take me about 7 minutes to get to each which was very convenient. And then off I was to the island of Jambiani.
Ending off in Jambiani
About sixty kilometres, southwest of Stone Town was where my island of choice Jambiani was situated. Why Jambiani, well I wanted to truly experience and live the Tanzania local life that is away from all the touristy stuff.
Jambiani is a very big village, it’s so big that it has been split into two parts and has two local chiefs that run each side of the village. The village is home to Muslims, Christians and Buddhists
Since it is a seaweed village local fisher men are usually seen in the early hours of the morning pushing out their boats for fishing as most of the residents from the village survive on sea food. They also make their income from this. In addition local women from the village assisted by their children also make a living from seaweed farming which is very common.
Arriving at my accommodation, Vanilla House I was welcomed with smiles and a fresh glass of mango juice before they had taken me to where I would sleep. On the very same day I found myself amidst a small intimate beach wedding that my place of accommodation was hosting where a polish couple eloped. This was amazing because it was my first time experiencing a beach wedding and now I am definitely left wanting to someday have a beach wedding of my own.
On the very same day which was a Friday, I also got the chance to attend another wedding but this one was much bigger. It was a local Muslim wedding and I had been informed Muslims usually celebrate their weddings on Fridays. Most of the people from the community gathered around in a circle and had a joyous dance off. Jambiani was truly just amazing.
During my time there I also awoke to the most beautiful sunrise I had ever seen while overlooking the soothing sound of the oceans waves.
Throughout the three days I spent on Jambiani I explored the beach this too was a free activity. I also took a bike ride that was offered by my accommodation for US 5 along the beach.
I as well had the opportunity to get on the local boats of Zanzibar called Dhow boats with a young man called Harry and is father. Although language was somewhat of a barrier Harry and I communicated pretty well as he knew a little bit of English.
All the meals I had throughout my stay were freshly prepared depending on whatever I wanted to eat and many restaurant on the beach were affordable as well.
There is so much I can say about both Stone Town and Jambiani but I would want you to experience it for yourself to see exactly what I mean by it is nothing short of amazing. I hope that this write up will help you plan your trip or any other trip in general that you might want to take.

Pataliputra
Pataliputra
Pataliputra (IAST: Pāṭaliputra) is an ancient city near Patna, the capital of the Indian state of Bihar. In 490 BC, the Magadha king Ajatashatru built it as a fortress on the banks of the Ganges. Archaeological excavations in the outskirts of the modern city of Patna have uncovered many parts of the ancient city of Pataliputra.
Property-- The name "Patli" means a combination of rice and "son". According to another source, the tree was named after him. It is alleged that the ambassador provided the information to Pataliya, the daughter of King Sudarshan. According to some intellectuals, this is a distortion of the name of the city of Patali.
History-- The name of Patlipur has not been mentioned before in the Buddhist script. It is written in the Buddhist scripture as Patligram. However, he is not listed in the list of major cities in the region. According to archeology, the development of Pataliputra dates back to the 3rd or 4th century BC. The Greek traveler Meghastinis, however, mentions in his travels book Indica that the city of Pataliputra was a city in 303 BC. The city of Pataliputra was built by the Haryana ruler Bimbisar to strengthen a village, and the kings of the Nanda, Maurya, Shrung, Gupta and Palas dynasties used Pataliputra as their capital. It was located at the confluence of the Ganges, the Ganges, and the Sona River. There was also business on this waterway. The Indo-Gangetic plains were the center of trade at the time. Two Buddhist councils were established here after the death of the Buddha and during the reign of Ashoka. They claim that it was founded by Udayabhadra, the son of Pataliputra Ajatashatru, according to Jain and Brahmanical sources. It is said to have been the largest city in the world during the reign of Emperor Ashoka. The number is estimated at 150,000 to 400,000. The city covers an area of 25.5 square kilometers and is in the shape of a modern area. It had 64 gates on its wall. During the reign of Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka, it was at the peak of prosperity. The Greek traveler Meghastinis wrote about this in his "Palibothra". Ashok's palace is said to have been built in imitation of the ancient Persepolis palace. The palaces and walls feature Greek-style construction.
The capital of later generations-- Until the twelfth century, the city was a Buddhist center and the capital of the Gupta dynasty and the Pal dynasty. The city was in a state of disrepair during a visit by Chinese traveler Xu Zhang. Later, during the Muslim uprising in the twelfth century, it was completely destroyed. Later, Sher Shah reconstructed Suri Pataliputra and renamed it the current Patna. Many areas have been excavated and many valuable archaeological finds have been unearthed, but many more are still needed. If he digs it up over time, it will shed more light on ancient history. Evidence shows that the city was 1.5 miles wide and 9 miles long during the Mauritius period. Archaeological sites have been reported around the city.

Free Or Paid Classified Ads
Business men nowadays are looking for that perfect spot in classified ads. Classified ads have been noted for having this great promotional advertising for different business. This will make your business grow in popularity and your sales as well. But there are two kinds of classified ads nowadays, and it is quite hard to pick between the two. Let's tackle these classifications one by one and determine which is more effective for your business.
Free classifieds are literally for free. They are usually seen in different websites out there and all you need to do is to Google it and there you have the lists of possible classified agencies that could advertise your business for free. The advantage for this is that you don't need to pay for anything. The web owner or the classified ads owner will tell you how much space you are required to fill and how many words you should submit. Disadvantage of this free classifieds is that it is a first come first serve basis.
If the classified is full, you have to wait for a couple of weeks or even months to get your business inside the classifieds. This could pose to some business owners who are dependent to the season like selling flowers or products that could only be sold in specific season. Another disadvantage is that these classifieds will limit the number of spaces, characters, pictures and even the color of the ads you want to publish. Some classified owners will only allow you to use black and white color only. This will make your ads more unnoticeable by your customers, and this could potentially decrease your sales in the future as well.
Paid classified ads are great for business with bigger profits or with bigger income. This is due to the fact that classified ads is quite expensive but is one of the effective ways to publish your business. In paid classifieds, you have to pay the amount depending on the size and the kind of ads you want to publish. The bigger the size the more expensive it gets, but the more attention you get from your customers. It is also advantageous due to the fact that you can choose any colors you want and be creative with your ad space.
While classified ads are a great way to advertise your business, there are also a million ways to advertise. You can use social networking sites such as Facebook or Tweeter accounts to advertise your business. Almost all of the customers have their own accounts in these popular networking sites and this could be an effective method to advertise.

AMERICAN CORPORATION: PROFIT INCOME IN FOREIGN BANK FOR TAX SHELTERS
Profit & Solutions Management Research Publication Series
Researched & Written by Deb (Debadip) Bandyopadhyay
A tax haven is generally an offshore country that offers foreign individuals and businesses little or no tax liability in a politically and economically static environment. KEY TAKEAWAYS Tax havens provide the advantage of little or no tax liability. Offshore countries with little or no tax liabilities for foreign individuals and businesses are generally some of the most popular tax havens. Investors and businesses may be able to lower their taxes by taking advantage of tax-advantaged opportunities offered by tax havens, however, entities should ensure they are compliant with all relevant tax laws.
Understanding Tax Haven
Tax havens also share limited or no financial information with foreign tax authorities. Tax havens do not typically require residency or business presence for individuals and businesses to benefit from their tax policies.
In some cases, intranational locations may also be identified as tax havens if they have special tax laws. For example, in the United States, Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming require no state income tax.
Offshore tax havens benefit from the capital their countries draw into the economy. Funds can flow in from individuals and businesses with accounts setup at banks, financial institutions, and other investment vehicles. Individuals and corporations can potentially benefit from low or no taxes charged on income in foreign countries where loopholes, credits, or other special tax considerations may be allowed.
A list of some of the most popular tax haven countries includes Andorra, the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands, the Cook Islands, The Island of Jersey, Hong Kong, The Isle of Man, Mauritius, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Panama, St. Kitts, and Nevis.
Characteristics of tax haven countries generally include no or low-income taxes, minimal reporting of information, lack of transparency obligations, lack of local presence requirements, and marketing of tax haven vehicles.
In general, this and other provisions, particularly for reinvestments, provide allowances for businesses to benefit from low or no tax rates offered in foreign countries but businesses should closely monitor and accurately report foreign income as it pertains to U.S. tax law, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and the guidelines under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Some companies that have historically been known for offshore, tax haven holdings include Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Cisco, and Oracle. Overall, tax havens may also offer advantages in the area of credit, since it may be less expensive for U.S.-based companies to borrow funds internationally. This type of lending, which can potentially fund acquisitions and other corporate activities, is also subject to reporting within the guidelines of U.S. tax law, GAAP, and guidelines under IFRS.
The U.S. has special rules in place for the reporting of foreign income by U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens. These rules are generally governed under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).
FATCA requires the filing of a Schedule B and/or Form 8938, which provides disclosure of foreign account holdings when investments exceed $50,000. Separately, foreign account holders may also be required to file Form 114, Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts.
US based companies are keeping their profits in bank accounts in other countries. Around $183 billion of stocks are piled in those countries. There was an increase of 14.4% from the previous year in the accumulation of the funds. Bloomberg studied that total of 83 companies in the USA has kept their profit earning in different low taxed countries across the globe. A total of $1.7 trillion has been outside the USA for the purpose of tax exception. Top companies like GE, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, and IBM are the top companies who are keeping the money outside the country so that the USA tax revenue department could not get hold of these incomes. Some of the companies are owned by foreign companies which helped them to park their profit margin companies’ bank account. The rise of the cash flow from the low taxed countries is due to the increased number of the customer from these areas. Google has kept $31 billion in annual filling in taxes but of which 65.3% are in the liquid holding outside the USA. This is hampering the USA taxes and resulting in rise of different problems due to this. US based companies receive tax credits in their income from the outside country, but still they are deferring the taxes by not bring those money back to USA. Regulatory filling asked the USA Corporation to report the foreign profit but they can defer taxes on those income. The income is not kept in the form of cash in other countries. They are using that fund to invest in the physical infrastructure and bond of that low taxed country. Intangible assets are among one of the areas where companies are selling their patents and getting cash out of it. The low tax jurisdiction allows them to pay low taxes. Among these, Microsoft has sold many patents to offshore countries and reported $60.8 billion in offshore holdings, whereas they paid only 3.1% in the foreign tax for this. The USA government tax system is outdated and is not compatible with other countries’ tax system has been claimed by many senior executives of USA based companies. They mentioned that for competing in the foreign land they have to keep the money in those countries for the future need. Citi Group has reported that foreign tax is as low as 8% which is far below that USA tax system rates. The USA tax is 35% which is the high compare to any other country corporate tax rates. This not only creates the obstacle for USA government to get a hold of the income of the companies in foreign lands. Moreover, they are lagging behind among other countries in tax system due to the low tax rate of those countries.
Many U.S. corporations use offshore tax havens and other accounting gimmicks to avoid paying as much as $90 billion a year in federal income taxes. A large loophole at the heart of U.S. tax law enables corporations to avoid paying taxes on foreign profits until they are brought home. Known as “deferral,” it provides a huge incentive to keep profits offshore as long as possible. Many corporations choose never to bring the profits home and never pay U.S. taxes on them. Deferral gives corporations enormous incentives to use accounting tricks to make it appear that profits earned here were generated in a tax haven. Profits are funneled through subsidiaries, often shell companies with few employees and little real business activity. Effectively, firms launder U.S. profits to avoid paying U.S. taxes.
Loopholes used to shift U.S. profits to tax havens U.S. firms can set up a subsidiary offshore, channel billions of dollars of profit through it and make the subsidiary “disappear” for U.S. tax purposes simply by “checking a box” on an IRS form. Corporations can sell the right to patents and licenses at a low price to an offshore subsidiary, which then “licenses” back to the U.S. parent at a steep price the right to sell its products in America. The goal of this “transfer pricing” is to make it appear that the company earns profits in tax havens but not in the U.S. Wall Street banks, credit card companies and other corporations with large financial units can easily move U.S. profits offshore using a loophole known as the “active financing exception.” A U.S. corporation can do an “inversion” by buying a foreign firm and then claiming that the new, merged company is foreign. This lets it reincorporate in a country, often a tax haven, with a much lower tax rate. The process takes place on paper — the company doesn’t move its headquarters offshore and its ownership is mostly unchanged — but it continues to enjoy the privileges of operating here while paying low tax rates in the foreign country.
The simplest solution is to end “deferral,” as proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Jan Schakowsky. Corporations would pay taxes on offshore income the year it is earned, rather than indefinitely avoid paying U.S. income taxes. This would also remove incentives to shift U.S. profits to tax havens, and it would raise $600 billion over 10 years. Short of ending deferral, Congress should close the most egregious loopholes, such as “check the box,” “transfer pricing,” the “active financing exception” and corporate “inversions.” It should also end the loophole that lets firms deduct the cost of expenses from moving jobs and operations offshore if the profits earned from those activities remain offshore and untaxed by the U.S. — saving $60 billion over 10 years. Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) has introduced legislation, the Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act (S. 1533), that will close some of these loopholes. It will raise $220 billion over 10 years.

The MYBA Charter Show 2021 has been canceled and .. It may not be the only one!
The 32nd edition of one of the reference and most important events for international boating has been officially canceled.
The MYBA Charter Show 2021 was in fact supposed to take place from 26 to 29 April in Barcelona but, due to the restrictions due to the pandemic, it was definitely canceled and postponed until next year.
The organizer’s declaration
MYBA does not hide the great disappointment of not being able to guarantee the smooth running of the event but relaunches the opportunity to involve the nautical community through virtual alternative events: “‘We are very disappointed that we will be unable to hold this event which provides exceptional networking opportunities, showcases our industry’s finest and generates solid business but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today. In place of the in-person event, MYBA together with Marina Port Vell is already exploring alternative ways to engage the superyacht community and move forward ‘.
Where was it supposed to take place?
The exhibition, as well as in 2019 (31st and last edition so far) should have taken place at the OneOcean Port Vell marina in Barcelona.
OneOcean Port Vell is one of the largest and most sought-after marinas in Spain and the Mediterranean Sea and is the perfect place to host this kind of event.
In fact, it offers 241 berths with a maximum length of up to 190 meters and a maximum draft of 9 meters.
This marina was included in the urban renewal program implemented before the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and today represents a tourist attraction that receives more than 15 million people every year. It is home to many superyachts and ships, and boat owners are welcome to enjoy the 5-star facilities the property can guarantee.
Finally, it offers easy access to the city and its main tourist attractions.
What does the MYBA Charter Show represent?
The MYBA Charter Show is a professional business to business fair aimed at the world of yachting and is one of the best opportunities to bring together the main sector professionals giving them the opportunity to evaluate some of the best yachts on the market and available for charter, meet captains and crew and explore all the news in terms of boat services. That’s why this annual event is therefore certainly considered one of the most important in Mediterranean yachting.
Other events, unfortunately, risk the same fate
As it happened during the year 2020, this year too opened under the events cancellation or postponement related to the world of yachting.
The MYBA Charter Show cancellation is therefore added to a list that we hope will end as soon as possible.
This is also the hope of another important exhibition, the Palma Superyacht Show, which was recently confirmed but postponed. It will be held from 3 to 6 of next June indeed (originally scheduled from April 30th to May 3th 2021).
The organizers say they are optimistic about this, considering the opening, in the same period, of most of the hotels on the island of Mallorca and the beginning of tourism in the Balearics.
MYBA Show – Appointment to 2022
All expectations are therefore focused on the 2022 event which will surely welcome an exceptional selection of luxury boats including motorized yachts, monohull sailboats, catamarans, and more.
As always, show and entertainment events will be organized within the exhibition, such as the competition between Chefs, who compete with delicious dishes, and that between on-board hostesses.
All events, held both in and around OneOcean Port Vell, will be designed to facilitate networking, facilitate the knowledge of new business partners and promote view exchanges.
