This is a pretty small panel from Hokuto No Ken / Fist of the North Star.

I am not sure if due to "it's Japan in the 80s and money is not an issue because the economy is booming" that mangaka just got the time to go wild on the details and spend forever on seemingly minor aspects...

...or if this is just old school Japanese work ethic (Tetsuo Hara was born in 1961) in general, and "half-ass it because time and budget restrictions dictate that is the sensible thing to do" was just not an option.

Incredible art either way.

It’s the 40th anniversary of ‘Hokuto No Ken’ (Fist Of The North Star) by Buronson & Tetsuo Hara!

Making its debut on September 13, 1983 in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 41!

The prototype for the series was published months prior in Fresh Jump magazine. It was popular among readers according to a survey and was later serialized in WSJ.

It’s such an iconic series and has influenced so many over the decades.
