Halfway through reading Burnleaf Tea by Firepup on Ao3, I felt the need to draw the scene. The poses don't match up, but I had fun drawing this!

65 million years ago, on the streets of Clawsreach, you could get the best deep-fried batterfly.

Convergent with dragonflies in appearance, batterflies are semi-domesticated late-surviving Meganisoptera, what's now known as a griffinfly.

The street venders take the harvested batterflies, (when the abdomen is about 18 inches long), strip the wings and pointier bits with a chef's claw, then grill them.

Once a good char is put on, they dip them in a batter made with cycad flour, cone-meal, egg (usually oviraptor), and slisk, a seed-derived substitute for trike crop-milk, where they are deep-fried in trike oil, after which they're sprinkled with powdered sugar or drizzled with burnleaf juice, and served with the three traditional dipping sauces:

Longtail Brown - A sweet blend of spices, mushrooms, vinegar and sugar.

Vorma Sauce - A creamy tasting white sauce.

The Delight - A concentrated fish sauce. Traditional formulations are not recommended for species with capsaicin receptors.
