Getting stronger while burning fat. It can be done! (But it isn't easy.) . If you saw my post yesterday I was so confident in the power of a deload for progress that I said I would be getting some personal records before my workout... Even though this is my 4th week in a calorie deficit. Currently around 800 calories below maintenance for me. I managed some new PRs yesterday and today (about to post the rest from today in my story like I usually do.) . I have been asked many times by people if they should cut down before trying to build muscle or build and then cut down. My answer is do both. It is possible, it just takes some extra willpower. If you are new to strength training then you are in a prime position for some serious body recompostion! The longer you have been training, and the leaner you are, the more difficult it is to do both at the same time. . I'm not saying it is ideal for growth, mind you (because it isn't).
