“i smell something burning.” you sniff, poking your head through the bright room. seungmin and felix had just finished their daengnyang school live, texting you to quickly come over. you were already on your way to them anyways, but suspicion immediately came into mind once you saw the message.

you had no idea what they were up to, but whatever it was, it wasn't good. all you heard was that they were preparing something food related.

felix is amazing when it came to baking and cooking but when seungmin is involved, it all somehow goes down hill. what did the kitty cat and puppy do now?

you do a once over at the room, slightly amused of the damage they've caused in such a short amount of time. the condiments and other baking materials were scattered all throughout the table, the pan they've used also had burnt batter residue sticking to it, probably the sole cause of the slight fog that engulfed the room.

“y/n, try it! i made this for you.” seungmin practically beams, shooting from up his seat and holding a plate out. it was a normal enough looking bungeo-ppang, but he has a grin that says evil written all over it.

you glance over at yongbok, the blonde's face morphs into an immediate 'no don’t do it' face while shaking his head vehemently. now you're curious. "what's in this?"

"you have to guess!"

“is this gonna kill me?” 

“no, i promise.” he laughs, holding it to your mouth.

“if i die i'll kill you.” you decide to humor him, taking a very, very small bite out of it. it was spicy and a bit tangy, but the subtle sweetness of the batter contrasted with it in a strange yet palatable way.

“oh, it’s actually pretty good.” you say, grabbing seungmin's wrist to take another bite. felix just watches you with pure disappointment in his eyes.

“see!” the puppy says quite proudly, tail practically wagging.

“what’s in it?”

“sriracha and wasabi.”

“you are trying to kill me!”

"but you liked it!"

"you should try this one y/n." felix says, lifting up his own plate with his creation. you didn't need to think twice since yongbok made it, it's bound to be better than seungmin's. it was different, you thought, tasting cheese and some sort of sauce in the filling.

you went back to taste the sriacha wasabi bungeo-ppang and comparing it to the vaguely pizza flavored one. oddly enough, you found yourself still liking seungmin's better, the expression is clear in your face.

"what?!" seungmin laughs at felix's reaction, patting his back. "you're weird," the blonde snickered, shaking his head.

"we should give this to chan-hyung." the black haired puppy snaps his fingers. your eyes widen, just because you liked it, it doesn't mean chan is gonna think the same way. that man has an abysmal spice tolerance.

"you're planning on giving this to chan? are you trying to kill him?"

before he can reason out why he wants to give this to poor chan, you take the plate out of his hands. "…give it here."

swinging your arms back and forth, you almost jolted when you felt a yank on your arm, the one that he was holding. looking at him, you questioned, "what's up?"

having known each other for years (and been dating for a couple of months now), you knew that in public he acted a certain way, and in private, it was different. home-sieun and outside-sieun were not the same person. you didn't mind- everyone had their different personas when with certain people- that being said, it's obvious why it's such a shock to witness him engaging in his 'in-private' antics when outside.

and so, every once in a while your boyfriend would break out of that double-layered-hardened-shy-shell of his with just a touch of cheeky-ness; something you could have never expected from someone like him.

"do you want a bungeo-ppang?" looking towards the stand that the two of you had just passed by. on the very off chance that your boyfriend would dare ask you for something first, most of the time the answer would be yes, but for once you felt inclined to respond with "hmm.. no, not really." you shrugged.

if you weren't a detective (or his partner) it would be hard to pick up on the way his eyes lingered on the side of your face when you turned your head back to face the dimly lit path of the park you were in, waiting for you to look back at him, urging you to notice him and what he really meant by his question. after a few seconds you looked back at him with a questioning gaze. "what?"

he didn't respond, only giving you a look. that look. his mouth tilted downwards in an almost unnoticeable pout, his head turned completely in your direction, and those eyes. those big, dewy brown eyes of his that held nothing but pure innocence- enough to give a new born fawn competition.

"stop giving me those eyes." you said, huffing as you felt your face warm up. you looked away towards the ground, unable to handle his affectionate gaze. he blinked at you, his gaze unmoving. "...what eyes?"

you stopped in your tracks and removed your hand from his, walking backwards towards the bungeo-ppang stand. he watched as you conversed with the vendor, looking as you handed them cash in exchange for the treat, and walked back over to him.

"here." you mumbled, urging the boy to take the treat from your hands. he looks at you before taking it, placing his soft lips around the warm treat and biting into it.

he chews and swallows, inaudibly sighing in content. "thank you," you captured his hands back into yours, interlacing your fingers. "you don't have to do that, y'know. you can just ask me. i'd do anything for you." you surprise yourself with your boldness, looking at the ground shyly, not daring to meet his eyes.

he doesn't speak, his cheeks turning red as he nods. "okay." he adds, biting into the food once more. "is it good?"

he nods, glancing at you. "can i have a bit?" he nods again, offering you an unbitten side of the treat. "that's not what i meant.." you say lowly before cupping his cheek, leaning in and placing a kiss on his lips.

it doesn't last long before he pulls away, looking away and at the ground. you chuckle at his antics and tug his hand. "red bean tastes good on you."

1. Biggest fears

Danica is terrified of being imperfect and a disappointment which often leads her into people pleasing and driving away people that get a little too close to her.

Dania is scared of being alone. Dania has the tendency to act cold and to try to be more on her own because she doesn't want to be too needy you leave her, this habit tends to cause her lots of pain and anxiety.

2. Pet peeves

Danica can't stand the sound of someone's mouth moving, she also despises when her socks seam isn't perfectly lined up along her toes.

Dania dislikes the feeling of wood and despises socks. She can't stand the feeling of socks on her feet and prefers to go barefoot, she has a similar hatred for gloves.

3. Favourite after school snack

Danica and Dania both adored visiting the local market after school back when they lived with their parents and it's still Danica's favourite place, after school she enjoys getting Bungeo-ppang.

Dania's current favourite after school snack is freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Aurelia makes all of the students cookies before their classes end.

4. Favourite after school activity

Danica loves visiting markets with her friends and her study groups at her house. Everyday Danica and her friends walk through the markets on their way home and pick up snacks to enjoy during their study (gossip) sessions.

Dania enjoys cuddling up with the other Whitehall students or going to one of the private rooms with her lover. She, like her sister, loves gossip sessions with her friends.

5. What is their relationship like with eachother?

Despite being twins they aren't really close at all. Danica feels as though her twin sister hates her and doesn't want to be in her life. She feels alone and unwanted by Dania.

Dania dislikes her sister, Danica. Dania is under the belief that her sister is attempting to steal her place in the world and their family.

6. Were they raised together?

For most of their lives the girls were quite close. They loved eachothers company and were basically attached at the hip. They were raised together until their seperation at thirteen.

7. What did they enjoy doing together?

The twins would stay up way past their bedtimes playing games together. They would even sometimes just curl up together and talk, complain, and sometimes, very rarely sleep. They frequently played games like bicycle and never have I ever.

8. What is their favourite thing about eachother?

Danica's favourite thing about Dania is her confidence. Dania has always been confident and self assured, it's something Danica would kill for. Danica is quite quiet and struggles to make friends and meet people, both things Dania excels at.

Dania is jealous of Danica's intelligence. Danica has always been the smarter twin, she would observe and then speak. Danica has never once failed at a test or problem.

9. What do they hate about the other?

Danica can't stand how much Dania would talk. No matter what time it was Dania was always talking, the girl never shut up.

Dania hates how much people naturally are drawn to Danica. Despite how quiet and how much Danica hates people everyone seems to like her, including their parents.

10. How do other people see them?

No one really knows that they're siblings but those that do don't understand how they can be so different and so similar. They don't understand why the girls seem to hate one another.

even you frown when ji-ae compares jungkook to his good-for-nothing father. jaekuk has singlehandedly tore apart his family, even though you smile with ji-ae and talk with her you can’t help but despise jaekuk for destroying such a beautiful family. even destroying his own wife to the point where any mention of his or her son’s name sends her in a panic.

“ms. ji-ae, it’s lunch time” says a nurse who walks in with a plate of warm food in separate portions. “have the two of you ate, kookie? surely you’re hungry?” asks his mother who selflessly offers the two of you what her lunch but you politely decline. “no, no, no. go ahead, jungkook and i will go get something. what kind of snacks do you like ms. ji-ae?” you ask with a smile on your face and helping her set up the table for her lunch.

“ooh, bungeo-ppang please??” she says with a smile and before you leave, you give his mother one last hug “i’ll be outside” you tell him before leaving him alone with his mother for a bit. a few minutes later, he joins you outside her room and walks you to the car to talk for a bit.

“don’t get mad but” you begin by squeezing his hand. “you kind of…are…like your father in someways”

it’s one thing for his mother to say it but YOU?! any comparison to his father will always be an insult to him because the both of you know that his father is no-good. he’s completely ruined his family and has threatened you, so how is he like his father? why wouldn’t he get upset at a comment like that because it’s far from a compliment.

“i mean, when you get angry, you act just like him. you already look like him. well, it’s 50/50 but when you get upset, your mom is right, you act just like him”

Why would you say that to him?

“do you think that’s funny?” He makes a disgusted face. You should know that he sensitive when it comes to being compared with his monster of a father. He takes a deep breath, trying not to get angry, and he closes his eyes for a moment.

“please I am begging you to never say that again.” He scoffs, how can I even compare him to his father when he literally threatened your mother‘s life and Jungkook respects her so much. Your hand on his hand, calms his bubbling anger down, and he cannot take it out on you of course because it’s not your fault.

Maybe he is like his father, but he doesn’t really like you to acknowledge that fact.. so you and his mother should really stop making him realize that.

“you’ll see how much a great man I will become when we have a family together I won’t be like my father at all yn.” He says, “ should we go and buy mom’s favorite snack from somewhere else or just the hospital canteen?”

He is still bothered by your comment, but he really doesn’t want that to become an issue between you two because right now you guys have a lot to deal with. He just wants this day to go by calmly.

That is until his phone rings. He takes it out of his pocket to see that it’s… Tina.

This is a new sort-of "series" where I talk about foods that may appear in stories if they are of international origin. First up is Korean girl Yi-Kyung!

-Bulgogi: thin grilled or marinated slices of beef that are grilled on a barbecue or by stove top. -San-nakji: octopus tentacles that are served still moving on the plate. They carry a choking hazard, especially if the consumer is drunk. Appears in: Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Bibimbap: a rice dish topped with namul (sautéed or blanched seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste.) Egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. Appears in: Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Nurungji: the crisp thin layer of rice left on the bottom of the pot when cooking rice. This is one of Yi-Kyung's favorite Korean snacks, appearing in her series most prominently in Yi-Kyung's Chaotic Summer. -Naengmyeon: long and thin buckwheat noodles served in an iced broth along with raw julienned vegetables and fruit, and often a boiled egg and cold cooked beef. "don't be silly! its you, your overused hoodie and me against the world. and i happen to have a spare pair of gloves. i'd offer you my coat but one: i don't think it's your colour, and two: i think my shoulders are broader than yours and that it would be more comfortable to be cold." ellie put the gloves, simple black leather, into si-u's hand. "besides, it's lovely out. aside from the cold. and think about the food... the bungeo-ppang is the best i've had outside of seoul. best in this city for sure, i'd say. plus." he paused for dramatic effect. "i am paying." 

"c'mon, we both deserve a night off." el held off on pulling on his baby pink winter coat (truthfully, he thought si-u wouldn't look half-bad in this shade of pink), pausing for a moment to think before looping her scarf around si-u's neck, too.

last meaningful conversation 𓂃 .ᐟ

it’s a brief one. it isn’t anything special or worth mentioning at all, but the simple yet short conversation yeseul had with her father over the phone is burned into her memory for as long as she lives. it’s a reminder to yeseul—that she needs to live, to atone for her sins.

if only she wasn’t selfish. it all starts one evening, not long after she wakes up from a night of composing songs. yeseul had been busy going through some compositions with her father the night before, they were working on improving a song together to give to a famous company. initially, they weren’t very approving of the song that her father wrote, but yeseul added her flair to it and they preferred that style more, so the pair ended up working together to produce it.

naturally, her father wakes up earlier than her, so he calls her when he receives a text that yeseul had woken up.

“you really need to fix your schedule, yeseul. i still can’t believe you’re making your poor dad buy breakfast instead of lunch,” he tells her sternly, but he isn’t furious about it.

“teheh?” yeseul just laughs over the phone. “i… want bungeo…ppang! custard!”

“as long as you finish your vegetables, dad will buy it for you,” he sighs. yeseul can’t see it, but he had a little smile on his face.

the girl makes a disgusted sound at that. to drive away the topic of vegetables, she brings up the song they were producing through text. “message! r-read it.”

⤷ i still think something is missing with the song… especially the pre-chorus part (っº - ºς) i don’t know what’s missing, but is it okay if you head to the cd shop too to get some older tracks? ( •̯́ ₃ •̯̀) it can be anything! they could be inspiration, who knows!

her father pauses to read the message for a while, yeseul gives him time to read it, but even then she thought the silence was a little long. though, before she speaks up, she’s already gotten a response from him. “making me run errands for you? am i going to get paid for this?” he jokes about.

“heheh… please?”

“i’m going to make sure that you eat all of your vegetables.”

“g-gweh.”

after a few more exchanges of lighthearted bantering, the call soon ends. yeseul gets another call later that night, informing her that her father had collapsed from overworking and other health-related issues, so he was admitted to the hospital. that was the last conversation yeseul had with her father. she always thought to herself that if she told him to come back home quicker to rest, maybe that wouldn’t have happened.
