"please don't move." her voice is hoarse, tremors innumerable emotions between heavy breaths, refamiliarising her lungs with the relief of oxygen. "i'm sorry.... please..." she's begging him, like she had moments ago, choked and desperate, though those pleas had fallen upon deaf ears. or ears that just didn't care. heartbeat pounds in her chest, thundering in her ears despite managing to regain her breath, and it began to hitch as emil woke up. fear, guilt, confusion, mingling with the feeling of his blood, covering hands that had begun to shake the moment the immediate danger had passed. 

"i'll get you out of it once i patch you up." that was emil. known, familiar, loved, and the betrayal didn't change that, so ellie spoke softly, even while trying to assess what his next move might be. if releasing emil would only lead them back. every blink brought back flashes of the fight, every misstep, every fumble. eyes that belonged to someone dear, boring down as her vision began to fade and desperation left her with no choice.

movements are slow, footsteps unsteady, but ellie approaches emil, closing the distance from the other side of the room, grabbing her bag - her medical supplies - before kneeling beside him but making no other moves yet. "i didn't hit anything important." it's unclear who this is reassuring, and ellie fights to hide the fear in her eyes as cornflower blue meets honey-hazel hues. "and i'll patch you up as soon as soon as you promise not to kill me. i don't think i have the strength to do that again."

he doesn't know what he did.

it's a hazy, distant dream. a grey nightmare awash in blood, watching his own hands curl around a delicate throat with lethal intent. only he swears he didn't do it. he is grateful when he wakes from the dream. it means he didn't do it right? it was just another wretched vision gleaned from the mind of a murderer. his eyelashes flutter rapidly and his pupils constrict. his sight is blurry. it often is after pulling a memory off of someone. and that is what this is. he is so sure of it. it's just another case, just another bout of pulling incriminating memories off of a suspect.

it's definitely not his own memory...but if that's true, why is the pain in his gut still throbbing? why does the warm dampness of fresh blood still wet his shirt? emil tries to look down and that's when he realizes he's on the floor. he starts to sit up and that's when he realizes his hands are bound. panic spikes and he starts to thrash against the restraints. there's a knife sticking out of his belly and that only makes him fight harder.
