BUNDANOON CREEK by MADELEINE CRUISE || Acrylic on canvas 110cm x 100cm || This work was a finalist in the 2018 State Parliament NSW En Plein Air Landscape Painting Prize || Bundanoon Creek depicts the landscape of Morton National Park in New South Wales. Says Madeleine Cruise of her work: “Working en plein air and in the studio, I made this work in response to bush walking throughout the park. Featured in this work are the many termite mounds, banskia pods and squiggly gums that characterise the landscape surrounding Bundanoon Creek.” || Available on curatorialandco.com now . . . #art #painting #landscape #pleinair #australianlandscape #landscapepainting #nature #australianart #australianartist #interiors #artlove #stylist #interiorstylist #interiordesign #bundanoon #australia (at Bundanoon, New South Wales) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzWY3_EAjsN/?igshid=1g1nvecxl4wi9

Walk 255: Overlooking Bundanoon Gorge 9-11km? Rating: 5 Wagging tails 22/03/2020 Something wonderful and uplifting. The grass trees were sprouting a vivid lime green in the damaged cathedral of pine and eucalypt. Green grass everywhere too and an excellent species ratio 7 canines to 8 humans, the former much appreciating the abundant water in puddles and creeks. (Thanks to Nellie for the plagiarised blog, & Fran and Sandy for the photos) Poppy is a definite challenger to Leuca’s position of our model bush walking canine, whereas William lived up to his new nickname - The Messiah - “just a very naughty boy”. And Forest - plugging away at Leeonie’s heels doggedly.. Mark, Fran, Ken, Sandy, Leeonie, Nellie, Janet, Marg, Poppy, William, Ace, Leuca, Kevin, Forest & Penny

Country NSW, 9th April, 2018
After Craft at Judy’s place I headed up Jamberoo Pass to Goulburn where I stopped to get some food supplies. It will be interesting not drinking wine and eating differently on my camping trip. I stopped the night at Gunning and got a spot along the creek. I cooked up some vegetable soup. The place was busy as usual but most people leave in the morning.
I had a bit of a look around Gunning and went up to the train station where I picked up a bowl of pine cones off a big limb that had fallen down. Gunning was an important link on the train line in the old days.
Next stop was Harden where I meet a man who had worked for F W Williams at the end of the 1950′s for Dad. His name was John Hayward. I also stopped at the Cemetery and found the Methodist section.
I found Dad’s brother’s grave from 1932.
At the roundabout at Wallenbeen there was a nice resting area so I stopped for a cup of tea and a bit of a read. I love being able to do that. I also drove through Wallenbeen, as well.
Next night was at the Temora Caravan Park which was nice and only small. A friendly group of people were staying there. Next door to the park was the Temora Rural Museum which was pretty impressive.
They have one of the largest collections of ambulance memorabilia in Australia.
The Museum have transported significant buildings from around the area to preserve them on this site. The cottage that Don Bradman was born in is one such building.
He lived In a very simple rough cottage.
Lots of cricket related bits around.
After the Museum I had a drive around town. Temora is a pretty attractive town with lots of lovely buildings. The Main Street.
Loftus St was off the Main Street. It was where Dad lived when he was born. Not sure of exactly where, though.
Loftus St was pretty long.
As is often the case in country towns the Catholic Church, Convent and School dominant. On Loftus St, as well.
Paleface was a champion trotter from Temora.
Also in Temora was a big Aircraft Museum sponsored by David Lowy. It has bought a lot of money into the town and aeronautical competitions are held at the airport. What was interesting was that there was a housing estate where houses had individual hangers on their blocks at the airport. A bit like having your boat tied up at your wharf. Leaving Temora I headed for Ariah Park for a look. Again it was a very historic old town with buildings in their original state but most of the shops closed. Pretty typical of small country towns. I did buy something at the supermarket there and diesel so spreading around some money. I did like all the peppercorn trees down the Main Street.
The weather was much hotter than I expected for this time of year. Most days were in the mid thirties but it cooled down at night. I stopped for lunch in West Wylong and parked under a tree which makes it cool.
On the road to Forbes. I love these wide open spaces.
Lots of cattle along the road.
I stayed at Forbes for the night at a free camping area along the lake which was across the bridge from the main town. I couldn't believe how many vans were there. I was had to find a nice spot but eventually got one close to the lake. I had a bit of a walk around the lake which was pleasant. It was quite hit until the sun went down.
Forbes has a bit of a sculpture festival. All these country towns seem to have something. In one of the parks in town there were a few interesting ones.
This one looks a bit like Rodan’s thinker.
There are always lovely buildings in these country towns.
The Main Street. It was pretty quiet as it was early morning.
Next stop was Cowra.
Main Street of Cowra. I found a couple of jigsaws at the Op shop in town.
I had a drive around town and then went up to the Lookout where I had a cup of tea and relaxed in my chair and read my book. Very pleasant.
Nice old bridge on the way out of Cowra.
Boorowa
Another nice lunch spot.
From Boorowa I went cross country to Gunning for the night.
I just slid into a good spot right along the fence next to the park. Gunning was pretty busy as usual.
Home through Bundanoon. A nice little country excursion.
