Story:

She heard the phrase in kithood, and it had always stuck with her. “A mother should never have to outlive her child.” 

It was muttered by an elder, who had watched sadly as a Clanmate cradled her dead son, Shrewpaw, who had died in an accident. 

It made her think of her own mother, father too, and of how much she loved them. It made her think of how much she would hate to have them suffer as that other mother did, should anything happen to her.

That is why when she was on a patrol that had split in two, mother on one and her son on the other, she volunteered to alert the other group when Treepaw had slipped and cracked his head.

She considered telling her what had happened when she almost ran into the mother, who was away from her secondary group after following a scent trail. Instead, she hid, climbed a pine, and leaped, snapping her neck.

She felt bad, but relieved too. The grief their Clanmates felt would be nowhere as bad as the raw emotion of a mother who had unexpectedly and suddenly lost her kit. Now, instead of that, they would be together in Starclan. And Treepaw would have someone to comfort him for a life lost too soon.

She didn’t kill anyone for a long time after that. Not until Birdkit fell sick. Both of his parents were worrying their fur off. She would spare them both the pain, mother and father.

That, she did.

And when their older son fell sick as well, she took the opportunity to give him peace and explain to him that it had been her that had killed his mom and dad before his younger brother died.

It would seem that he wasn’t as weak as she had thought, and he leaped at her, raking his claws across her throat and down to her chest.

Additonal Information:

--I realized it was ‘murmur,’ not ‘murmer’.

--The brown’s a bit weird. The head one should be as dark as the body, but picrew.

--She is mates with Buzzhop, who she is much smaller than.

--She lived somewhere around the same time as Buzz.

--Same murder method of Buzzhop may be how they met!
