Back in 2006, I rewatched the original My Little Pony series for the first time since I was a kid, and for reasons that still elude me, I became obsessed with the bees from Bumbleland, coming up with all kinds of headcanons and lore about what life was like for them both before and after The End of Flutter Valley.

A few days ago I started rewatching the original series again, and was like "I hope this doesn't reawaken anything in me," but of course I've spent the past two days doing nothing but thinking about my headcanons from back then and revamping them.

So, here are a few of my thoughts on the history of Bumbleland:

We know from the series that bees and flutter ponies once lived in Flutter Valley together, until the flutter ponies kicked the bees out for being too tough and nasty (or something like that). My take on that is the bees did/do have a rougher culture than the flutter ponies, so tensions were already high between them, but the final straw was ultimately due to a misunderstanding. This all happened several generations before the events of TEoFV.

Under normal circumstances, there is only one princess born to succeed a Bumbleland queen, but at that point in time, there had been two, and when it was time for one of them to become queen, tradition dictated that they had to battle each other for that right, with the loser being exiled. Neither princess was willing to give up, and so their battle waged on and on, with Flutter Valley itself caught in the middle. Seeing their home being destroyed by two bees, and the other bees doing nothing to stop it, the flutter ponies intervened, temporarily stopping the fight, but when both princesses refused to yield, or even explain the situation, the flutter ponies had no choice but to use Utter Flutter to remove all the bees once and for all.

Rather than resume their battle, the two princesses each took off to find a new place to call home, one of them settling in the area we saw in TEoFV. As for what happened to the other, I haven't decided yet (this is the first revamp: originally, the battle ended with one of the princesses killing the other, and that's when the flutter ponies decided the bees had to go for good).

There's more, but right now it's after midnight, so that's all for tonight.

Once again, I am thinking too hard about the aftermath of The End of Flutter Valley.
