I have ADHD and autistic traits, both of which were undiagnosed until my late teens. Social skills typically develop at a slower rate in ADHD children, and autistic kids need an extra boost to learn them at all.

When I was around 6 or 7, my mom's side of the family was having a Christmas party at my aunt and uncle's house. My mom told me ahead of time that I was getting a present from my aunt. My brain connected that information to my parents giving me presents on Christmas Day, and I was absolutely convined my aunt's tree was going to be loaded with presents. Two or three for each cousin at the least. I actually visualized the scenario, as I do when preparing for unfamiliar situations. I was hyped.

The tree did have presents under it, but... they were for my aunt and uncle's kids, not for me. But that was okay, my aunt was handing them out, and it was all I could do not to bounce up and down and keep asking when present time was.

I was handed a single box, unwrapped it, and inside was a little porcelain tea set with paints to color them with. A tea set was a safe bet to give a little girl, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

"Isn't there more?" I asked. My mom, of course, was utterly embarrassed. She took me over to the side to explain that Aunt So-and-So couldn't afford a bunch of presents for everyone, that this wasn't the same kind of gift-giving, and that I needed to be grateful.

I said thank you- the tea set was kinda neat- but became very annoyed when I found out I couldn't actually drink out of the tea set due to the paint.

Social skills are called "skills" because they can be developed and improved. Not everyone innately has them, and some children, like the girl I used to be, just need extra time, patience, and grace to learn. If social skills were taught, mandated even, there'd be so much less bullyling, so many more well-rounded kids, so many more neurodivergent children diagnosed and recieving help: all resulting in so many more adults prepared for the real world.

That's cool. So, why did their parents upload their small child being upset online? In a public video, shared to the entire video? Why did they even save the recording?

Like. The kid in that scenario could be saying the most entitled nonsense in the world, and if their parents post it online to be publicly shamed, I'd still support the kid 100%. Thinking your child's life is a toy to exploit freely for #content is "spoiled"; when faced with mommy vlogers, kids should be demanding three PS5s and a new Bugatti, and we should be applauding them for it

So I was watching wordgirl for like a few days in a row and remembered that one episode the tooth hurts. And it occurred to me: Scoops is afraid of being embarrassed/ no one liking him. Which has inspired me to write this essay.

So, noticing from episode 1B, Scoops has a very high opinion of himself, taking credit from Wordgirl and Huggy for defeating the butcher, and throughout the show until "The invasion of bunny lovers", he has shown a LOT of selfishness. Luckily, after that, he stops. But I have a theory on to why he was so selfish before: Bullyling. Maybe as a kid no one thought he was good enough to start a newspaper, but he ended up doing it anyway with the help of Violet and Becky. But back to canon.

In "the tooth hurts", he seems to be mortified of getting embarrassed, which says a lot about his character. He seems traumatized by the pink paper incident, seeing as kids teased him about it since a voice can be heard taunting him and laughing at him. So, this episode proves for a FACT that he had the fear of imperfection, or being hated. And i think this would be a good arc for him in the reboot.

Long overdue

Hello everyone! I know I have been VERY absent from this blog . I guess its time for me to put it on official hiatus. My Magnus muse has been MIA for the past little while, and due to some severe cyber bullying I have been faced with from someone in this fandom’s rp  community, I think I’m going to take a step back for a bit. It’s too much drama and nasty hate. 

I am on a role play forum for Shadowhunters and will hopefully help in getting that going again. For rps and things, feel free to contact me  via Skype, just message me for my info.

Yeah but... if anyone has any sort of similar experience with their religion it would be jewish people. I went to an all girls school and a large percent of girls were muslim and we used to bond over the fact that we both kno what it feels like to get treated like shit. Obviously on different levels and situations but it was solidarity ykno.
