Mafia 2 Steampunk AU:Setting

Source of Power: central factory carrying steam power throughout the city through a series of pipes

Misc:

- [ ] The airship dockyard in separated into two blocks- the main loading dock in the more affluent upper level and the repair yard in the lower level, meant to be out of sight of other aristocrats and high ranking officials

- [ ] Extortion of aristocrats and politicians and merchants by mobsters were common

- [ ] While still considered subservient to men, women had more rights and could own their own home, although it would have to still be co-signed by a male

- [ ] While not expressly forbidden, the classes rarely mix and everyone keeps to their portion of the city

- [ ] The slums are compromised of the destute, immigrants and those who do not fit the mold of high society

- [ ] Every male had to be in an apprenticeship by age 13 and girls as young as 5 went to finishing school until they were 18 to learn to be housewives, although those were reserved for the rich

- [ ] Everyone else either worked in the many factories, public service or owned a shop. Girls were taught how to be a housewife from the other ladies in the neighborhood

- [ ] Child labor was legal and poor kids as young as 6 had to work in the mines or factories

- [ ] The city itself was built upwards with 3 layers, each denoting each of the 3 social classes. The poor were at the very bottom while the rich were at the top.
