so like running theory on why gen 1 toradeen is happening is to continue the trend of certain gen 1 couples carrying over to gen 3 + to add more excitement to when gen 3 toradeen happens and catch the attention of gen 1 only peeps?

Ooh I like that theory... Definitely down for that being foreshadowing of sorts. Though I gotta say, I don't think that would convince the g1 only folks to give g3 a shot.

Still, the thought of the different people working on mh deciding to make things match up somewhat around the same time is really fun to me. I'm generally more for keeping things new and different between the gens but since Toradeen wasn't present for the bulk of g1 and is actually something new, I don't mind in this case (plus my queer bias XD). Though my thoughts might change depending on how this ship is handled. For now, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic.

Which Transformer will be spotlighted next?

Hello, Transformer fans.

As mentioned in my post about what will most likely happen in the next Transformers era, one of them was that the spotlight will be on another fan favourite since Prime spotlighted Bumblebee and before that, the Animated Era (as I call it) spotlighted Starscream who I feel was more of the main antagonist than Megatron was in the main plot. The question is, which Transformer will it be? Well, after a lot of thinking and paying attention to the details and Easter eggs, I’ve narrowed it down to three possibilities. Note that I might wind up being wrong on all three accounts.

I think the first most likely candidate will be Arcee because with the recent wave and normalisation of female leads in both cinema and TV, I think it is very likely that the most iconic of the female Transformers will be the main focus of the next era. If anything, despite what many people think, Arcee is and always been progressive since the days of G1. She is professional, can hold on her own, she has had many suitors and isn’t sorry about it, she is the ultimate bodyguard, and unlike most badass female characters, she is shamelessly feminine. Considering most strong female protagonists are usually either tomboys or anti-girly, we need a leading lady like Arcee to remind us (especially girls) that femininity and feminism are not mutually exclusive. Plus, can we also take into account that even though Arcee is not physically the strongest on the bunch, she is an amazing fighter? Arcee has also displayed a lot of leadership qualities in how she keeps the team focused and in line which also speaks volumes about her. This femme was inspired by Princess Leia in more ways than just the hairdo and I think it is very likely that in the next era, it’s going to be her time to shine regardless of whether she’s in pink, blue or sporting a new stylish colour altogether. If she gets spotlighted, she’s going to own it.

The next candidate who I think may get the spotlight will be Megatron and while I am well aware that he is a main character anyway, how often do we see him as anything other than the evil Decepticon leader? And if you were to look up Megatron backstory, it is one of the most compelling stories I have ever read. Megatron is not an evil character. He is a complex character who followed the path of evil without meaning to while attempting to follow the path of honourable rebellion. The fleshing out of Megatron’s character started since the Animated Era and got carried over the Prime Era in which Megatron openly got sick of his own acts of evil. And War for Cybertron shows the most deep version of him yet as he even has a compassionate and emotional side to his character. It is very possible that it is all building us up to seeing him be so much more in the next era where I even think a film featuring his origin story will play out. His side of the story is one that I think all fans have been dying to hear for years.

Now, I know this seems like a random choice, but it really isn’t when you stop and think about it. Prowl is an iconic character in the Transformers franchise whose original face not only served as a model for the Autobot insignia, he set the standard and style for police/law enforcer Transformer which no series is seen without. Even Prowl himself isn’t in the series, there’s always a cop type somewhere and it makes his spirit felt. It wasn’t Prowl in Rescue Bots, Prime or Robots in Disguise, but his influence on how these characters behaved was there. Plus, Prowl is the most dynamic fan favourite of the characters. Depending on his incarnation, he can be very lawful yet just, emotional and philosophical, and even outright crooked if you consult certain comic book versions of him. As expected of any trend setter, Prowl is the type you can go in any direction you want which includes a completely new one and it will always work without fail. With that said, he’s a fan favourite who also serves as the ultimate wild card which would most definitely work in the new era especially if it intends to be the time where Transformers does a large majority of “firsts”. Personally, I think Prowl will be first presented as the classic law and order driven personality, but will mellow out as his character develops.

Anyway, these are just my candidates. As I said, I could be wrong about all three. Who do you think will be the next Transformer to be spotlighted and why? And what do you think of any of these candidates if you agree with them?
