My latest video is a save file review of Ratsave 1.2 by @ratboysims, my favorite save file right now! The builds are gorgeous, and the households full of life. Definitely check it out if you haven't yet!

When I came across these beautiful aspiration based diary defaults created by @episims with @midgethetree's mods, I immediately knew I wanted to make a set that matched my game's aesthetic!

I made textures to match my preferred funky and nostalgic aesthetic, complete with a (decorative) diary lock and unique written pages!

You'll still need Midge's Re-Enabled Diary Textures mod to begin with, and Midge's Aspiration-Based Diaries mod, which can be found inside Epi's Diary Default Replacements' download folder. My download only contains the recolors I've made, so you need to download both linked mods first, or my textures will NOT show up in your game. That means you need midgethetree_aspirationdiaries and midgethetree_reenableddiarycovers.

Always Keep Simming Save - My Personal Legacy (Currently Gen 4)

Meet my Gen 4 family of my personal legacy save, the Blackburns! I call my save file “Always Keep Simming”, because I want this legacy to go on and on for years and never stop playing with them 🥹

Aileen Blackburn, Generation 4 heir

Traits: Geek, Party animal, Perfectionist, Adventurous, Genius, Healthnut

Aspiration: Collector (completed)

Career: Scientist (level 8)

Skills mastered: Gaming, Gemmology, Rocket Science, Logic, Dancing

Goals of this generation: Complete the elements collection (completed), complete the gem collection, complete the metal collection, learn how to revive a sim.

I will post Aileen’s Backstory separately, that way I can include some older pictures!

Colin Blackburn, husband of Aileen

Traits: Bookworm, Loyal, Outgoing, Romantic, Adventurous, Worldly

Aspiration: Jungle Explorer

Career: Education (currently level 6)

Skills he has to master: Archeology, Selvadoradion culture, parenting

Backstory: Colin Blackburn grew up in foster care and never got to meet his biological parents. He developed a special interest around everything occult and the past and started studying history. After finishing his degree, he came to Willow Creek to research a known haunted house. He started working as a history teacher and wanted to become a professor. Similarly to Aileen, he was an adventurous sim, especially the mysteries in the temples of Selvadorada intrigued him.

Gemma and Gavin Blackburn.

They are unidential twins (I might do a dual legacy with them, I will make up goals as I play and get to know their personality).

Goals for this Generation: I think I will not tell you what I have in mind, it will be more of a surprise. The general vibes of this generation is exploration of the world, uncovering mysteries, dealing with grief and finding answers to unspoken questions. 

Save file I’m playing in: @ratboysims (my alltime favorite), builds are either included in the save or downloaded from the gallery. 

Aileen’s house: Made by @pugownedplaysthesims-blog , I changed the interior a lot, exterior minimal adjustments to fit my sims needs.

Note: I’ve been playing with this family for 2 years and it’s the first legacy I have actually been able to get to > gen 2. As always, there’s been a LOT of drama, personal struggles but also immense growth and, of course, a happily ever after in each generation. I have approx. 1000 screenshots but unfortunately not from everything and not from the start. I’ll hop right into gameplay of this current generation but, when it’s needed and fits, I will post some flashbacks to the past, to give more context and the backstory (the tea lol). This legacy is very special to me, I have explored ts4 in all of its aspects with the past generations. I adjusted my lifespan settings (again lol), I will play on custom long lifespan with this save file and custom normal life span with the other legacies. Simply because I am too attached to this save and can only let the heir die if I feel like I have spent enough time with them. I am attached to TJOL and the Postcard Legacy too! But there, I have a storyline already set up, so I can progress faster (and I want to!). Enough rambling, hope you will love these sims like I do! 🩷

mousy save; hold onto your hats

i started with my go-to simlicy save, so most of the residential lots and many of the community lots are by simlicy. i agonized over lot placement and number of each type of lot; i only ever play one family so it makes sense for me to have fewer residential lots and tons of community lots. i'm missing a lot of packs so this is pretty carefully curated to fit with what i do have (i'm used to replacing wallpaper and some furniture for most gallery builds but if it's missing much more than that I try a different lot). i love community lots that a) have things for sims to do and b) look pretty. all of these fit and i highly recommend every single one!!

hi! i'm totally in love with your blog & adore the storyline of your save! i also really appreciate your resources page; i'm trying to start using gameplay mods & it's been a huge help. i was wondering if you create the save files you play in &, if so, how you go about that. i'm getting bored of the same townies & builds but get overwhelmed when trying to create a save. & using a pre-made save is tricky because i don't have every ep. just looking for any tips you might be willing to share! ty!

TYY 🩷🥺 9/10 my process for starting a save is pretty simple, i use ratboysims save file most of the time, add in any builds i really wanna use, add a bunch of townie dumps (usually by simsontherope), add any side characters i want in the gameplay, then add my main sims and start playing

the gallery + youtube both have really good builds that you can add when you’re getting bored of same ones! before i had all the packs id download any builds and townies even if they used all the packs and just meticulous replace any items i didnt have but i can see not wanting to do that 😭😭 luckily a lot of ppl make limited pack builds and townies! lots of ppl make “base game + EP” builds and families, one i know off the top of my head is devonbumpkin

Hey Guys, this is my first savefile, all the builds that i used are from the gallery, cause i can´t build and i just remember that i used builds from fleuralia ahah. ( i have adhd don´t mind me)

If you want to have your families and townies in my save file, upload them with #mrsleesanderstownies and please don´t use any cc.

Maybe some of the sims in my save file won´t look pretty with your defaults because i use:

Hello, friend! Thank you for the thought and time you put into these questions. I hope the new blog takes off. ❤️

For both story and gameplay purposes, the short answer is I will always choose to do as little building (and ideally decorating) as I can get away with. Building is not my forte at all. I find it dull and draining, and even if I have references I often just don't know where to start. Decorating can be draining for me too because it activates both my indecisiveness and my perfectionism, but I'll do it slightly more often, especially for my Sims' homes because I do like them to be personalized. If I'm making a few changes here and there to an already decorated space, it's not a big deal. If I know I'll have to decorate an entire build, it's definitely something I need to mentally prepare myself to commit to because it'll probably take at least a week. (More rambling and examples under the cut.)

The only full build I've done for my story so far has been this shop in Oasis Springs because I couldn't find anything that matched the vibe in my head. It was so structurally simple but took me forever.

Ulrike's apartment and Vatore Manor are both builds by @haledela that I fully redecorated. I love replacing residential lots in my worlds with their builds because they look so much nicer than the usual Maxis monstrosities.

Sometimes I'll just decorate one room if I need something specific for a scene. For example, I temporarily replaced part of UBrite Commons with this classroom. For the concert scene, I used another build by @haledela and just spruced it up a bit to get the stage area looking how I wanted.

I find most builds on Tumblr. I'll scour finds blogs, follow the builders I like most, and then bookmark anything interesting that comes across my dash. I find browsing the gallery overwhelming, so I only do it if I can't find anything here or need something in a pinch when I'm already in-game. The types of builds I love most are multipurpose lots that I can use for several scenes but make look like different places! For example, Helena and Ulrike's break-up and Helena and Lilith's first meeting take place on the same lot. I also used the same lot for the haunted house scene in the prologue and the Spooky Bowl! They're both by the very talented and creative @whyeverr, whose builds I've used countless times.

Some of my other favorite builders besides the two I've mentioned are @alerionjkeee, @bottsbotts, @beetlemp3, @ratboysims, and @sweetbeagaming! They all have really diverse and unique builds that I always get a lot of mileage out of when I use them!
