Taller Nepantla: "So where do art and artists stand within this new techno-feudal political landscape?"
1) Artists don’t own anything.
We don’t own the studios. We don’t own the galleries. We don’t own the production of materials. We don’t own the newspapers. We don’t own the art schools and universities. We don’t own the mechanisms of art distribution. We don’t own our work. We don’t even own our own art. Artists have no labor protections and are content to work individually to perpetuate their own myth or pray to the sacred algorithm to go viral. By being atomized we are exactly like a feudal peasant of the Middle Ages, who lives in extreme precariousness giving away part of his crops to his local king. The art world, its industry, its weight, its impact, its trend, everything belongs to other people. Did you know 80% of the art-market is own by a small group of Mega Collectors? Those who control the means of artistic production control the artists.
2) By not owning anything, artists and cultural workers only rent.
We no longer sell handmade works, but instead we sell our hands for work. More and more the creative and artistic sector sells services rather than art. Artists need multiple jobs in order to invest in their art practice. Even more, just as in the feudal stage of history, we work the land in a territory that does not belong to us, the land belongs to the landowner. In this land artists will always pay rent, a tax, to the feudal lord. We use GOOGLE to send emails We upload our art to INSTAGRAM We educate ourselves through YOUTUBE We communicate through TIKTOK We pay to use ADOBE SUIT We buy materials through AMAZON We move through UBER We send files through WETRANSFER Every time we use these platforms, we generate money for the feudal lords.
The art world depends on these platforms, which collect our information and our data, to sell.
When a service is free, our attention is the product. That is, it is impossible for an artist to establish himself as an artist without generating money for the landowners who own the technological platforms. That is, the art world depends on these products. It is impossible to be an artist without using these technologies. Techno-feudalism keeps artists in a situation of -permanent-precariousness dependence on technological platforms. Just like in medieval times, peasants live off the crumbs offered by the crown, living in a house, working on land, and eating food that does not belong to them. Technocapitalists don’t want artists to own the means of artistic reproduction. Technocapitalist instead build a world where everything is rented. Every stage of artistic production from how you imagine an artwork, how you study an artwork, how you draft and artwork, how you build an artwork, how you show an artwork, how you distribute an artwork, how you perceive an artwork, and how you think about an artwork, is all determined by apps and tools which you rented from a tech corporation.
3) Artists SUBSIDIZE the profits of technological platforms.
That is, we pay an inflated price for these services directly from our pockets. The art world depends on the underpaid work of our services. If there were fair wages in the art world, then the entire pyramid wuld be destroyed precisely because it depends on the fact that most artists do not earn a fair wage. All the art we produce and share is being used to train algorithms to better sell us products. When a platform is free, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, we are the product that is sold. Even more, artists subsidize the entire artworld. We work for free. We work for low wages. We work for exposure. We are the “volunteer army” Jerry Saltz brags about. The artworld benefits from not paying us what we deserve.
4) The entire art world depends on the platforms of the Clouds.
All museums, galleries, fairs, biennials, and auctions depend on the technological infrastructure dominated by feudal landowners. In other words, there is a dependence on these technologies in order to promise an interconnected, cosmopolitan, and immediate “art world.” The feudal landowners who own the technological platforms, having no competition, can impose whatever price they want, and the art world must obey. They can raise prices without losing customers. The price we pay to use TechnoCapitalist services is completely arbitrary. It does not correspond with the quality of the service but rather to the whims of the landlords. One day, black ink for printing is free, the next day it costs $5.99 a month as a part of a subscription package. We are looking at you Anish Kapoor.
5) The algorithm decides what counts as talent as long as it can generate profits.
Algorithms are increasingly deciding what counts as “value.” Major collectors will be able to systematize the works on the market in order to deduce, through algorithms, the value of a work and whether it is a good investment. The algorithm has more power than art critics and art historians. An artist will then adapt to the algorithmic trends of his time, in order to go viral. A work of art that goes viral can change the artist’s life. NFT’s are just one example of techno-feudal experiments in the arts. NFT’s promise decentralization and transparency, but end up replicating the worst aspects of capitalism, feudalism, and what new technologies can do.
In short, the art world is interconnected with techno-feudalism. We artists are technologically and socially dependent on a system that exploits us. It is important to increase media literacy so that artists can build alternative technological systems to cut dependence on monopolistic companies. A king’s mindset is always to grown and conquer. In the end, the artworld’s investment in techno-feudalism will actively bring the destruction of other smaller artworlds in the global south. Techno-feudalism will produce a homogenized, sanitized, apolitical universal art, that privileges creations that protect the artworlds overlords."

Another snippet from my slow-burn, friends-to-lovers Lukola fanfiction. We're on chapter 39 and in August 2023. Check it out!
13th August 2023 – Sydney (Australia)
Nicola sat on a bench in the Royal Botanical Gardens, sighing as she kicked off her dusky pink kitten heels and wiggled her toes. The August air carried the scent of eucalyptus and freshly cut grass, mingling with the distant and briny tang of the harbour. Looking straight at her from across the water was the cluster of white sails that made up the building of the famous Sydney Opera House.
Sally, a thin, mousy woman with a blunt fringe dashed towards her with a bottle of water.
“You’re a babe.” Nicola took the water from her gratefully and took a sip, visibly wincing at its icy coldness.
“We’ve only got the ones in the cooler.” Sally stated apologetically.
“Aw, you’re fine, Sal. Don’t worry about it.” Nicola felt the usual instinct to reassure kick in. A light breeze picked up, rustling the jacaranda leaves behind her and sending a cool shiver down her spine.
Nearby, the production team and film crew were all taking a break. Sally, the assistant director, headed back towards everyone else. There was a director’s chair, several bits of lighting and camera equipment and a small table that served as the snacks station occupying the small section of the park that they were commanding for the day. Stood by the crew and munching down on a sandwich was Lewis, her costar, dressed in all the trappings of a Regency-era nobleman: a navy tailcoat, white cravat and top hat. Nicola eyed him somewhat jealously as she rubbed a hand up and down her naked arm to try to quell her goosebumps.
I can’t resent him for being warm. She thought.
It was a hard thing to achieve when she was sitting there in a thin, baby pink maxi dress with red spaghetti straps and spending most of her time shivering between takes.
She had been very excited to be flown out for the week to Australia by Uber Eats to film an advertisement that would be part of an international campaign. Having an all-expenses paid trip was not bad but what really sweetened the deal was how much she was going to be compensated for the work. She had discussed it with her mother, and they had both realized that the amount she was going to receive for a few days of filming was going to substantially dwarf what she was paid for first season of Derry Girls. It had felt like a true pinch-yourself moment.
Is this what making it felt like?
She didn’t feel any different.
OK, that was a lie.
Somewhere in the last few years, she had made the transition from feeling guilty all the time about taking jobs that would mean she could not afford to pay rent or feed herself to someone who just… simply could afford things. She and her mother had both taken a moment to really let that sink in. Nicola wanted to be intentional about recognizing those moments so that they were not taken for granted.
However, it was starting to feel challenging not to take the opportunity for granted as another gust of wind made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.
The weather in Australia was the running joke between Nicola and Luke’s text messages to each other.
Somehow, in all her enthusiasm to show up for an easy gig like this one, she had failed to consider that August was Australian winter. Luke had watched her gleefully dance around her bedroom as she packed sunscreen and mini-dresses and boasted about leaving the mugginess of London city behind her and he had not said much. It was only when she arrived at Sydney airport and saw people in parkas, jeans and cardigans that her suspicions started to be raised. She oscillated between being annoyed that Luke had let her pack so badly to being somewhat impressed by his commitment to a prank. The first text message she had received from him upon landing had been a screenshot of the Weather app that showed the weather for the week in Sydney would range between a chilly eight to thirteen degrees Celsius alongside the emoji of the face that was sweltering in the heat with the words ‘try not to burn!’
Just as she was thinking about that memory, a text message pinged through on her phone.
It was Luke.
It was just a screenshot of the Weather app that illustrated the time and temperature in London. It was five o’clock in the morning there and the app showed that it was going to be twenty-three degrees Celsius that day.
Cheeky sod. She thought.
Nicola Coughlan: I will leave you.
Luke Newton: -laughing crying emoji-
Luke Newton: How’s it going?
Luke Newton: You working hard on getting us free UberEats for life?
Nicola Coughlan: Can’t
Nicola Coughlan: Too cold to function
Luke Newton: It’s 13 degrees, that’s cold for summer but it’s not cold for winter. You can do this!
He was right. This was the mildest winter experience she had ever had in her life. The Aussies did not know how good they had it. Still, it was hard when you expected yourself to be sweating and battling heat exhaustion and were instead trying to find any patch of sun to stand or sit under so that you might experience a tiny bit of warmth.
Nicola Coughlan: The outfit isn’t outfitting
Nicola Coughlan: I’m in a flimsy dress and Lewis is in about three layers
Nicola Coughlan: Dismantling the patriarchy when?
Luke Newton: I miss you and your flimsy dresses
Nicola rolled her eyes. As much as she enjoyed her boyfriend potentially salivating at the thought of her in a sexy dress, she also felt a twinge of annoyance that that was the part of her messages that he was zeroing in on. Then again, she could not expect Luke to fully understand the layers at play here and what was really bothering her about the way the wardrobe had been orchestrated. She decided it was probably best just to get through the shot and then talk to him later, fearing she might let her frustrations show. The last thing she wanted was to get snippy with him – especially when she missed him so intensely.
She took another sip of water and tried to orient herself to her surroundings. She tried to pay attention to the smells, sounds and the colours to ground herself. Just then, another ping interrupted her thoughts. She debated putting her phone on silent and tucking it away into her bag but decided against it.
Luke Newton: Why does he get to be Three Layers Lewis and you’re in a silly dress?
She found the edges of her mouth upturn into a smile for the first time that day as she stifled a giggle.
Nicola Coughlan: Been told I need to wear a dress for aesthetics
Nicola Coughlan: I did try to ask for something warmer but director is not keen at all
Nicola Coughlan: *male director – no significance of course
Luke Newton: Of course(!)
Luke Newton: Isn’t the whole treatment 21st century woman puts 19th century man in his place?
Nicola found herself nodding at her phone screen.
Nicola Coughlan: YES.
Nicola Coughlan: Exactly.
Luke Newton: What a pisstake.
Nicola Coughlan: YES.
She didn’t know why but her heart seemed to swell up ten times in size during that exchange.
He understood her frustrations. He was getting it. God, it felt so good to be got.
Nicola Coughlan: Just got to put up with it for a few days
Luke Newton: Fuck that
Luke Newton: Ask for something warmer
Luke Newton: Be the 21st century woman
Nicola began to laugh off his comments but then stopped and really thought about it.
Alright, so she really did not want to be the kind of person that made waves. She didn’t want to be the bitch on set that made a mountain out of a molehill. Yet, here she was, on a film shoot where the message literally was about a woman being empowered enough to put her foot down to misogyny and she as the actress was not able to have the basic human need of being warm met.
Luke Newton: Or don’t.
Luke Newton: Do what feels right.
She appreciated his words and in that moment she felt pretty sure she knew what was going to feel right.
“Actually Sal – do you think I could get a cover-up?” Nicola shouted across to Sally who was now also standing by the food station. Sally was immediately responsive and grabbed the green and pink striped cardigan that was resting on top of a box that was filled with wardrobe bits.
“Winter out here always feels like you’ve got a fever. You go between being too hot and too cold constantly.” Sally joked, handing Nicola the cardigan.
“I’m noticing that.” Nicola responded, keeping her tone matter of fact. “I’m going to keep this on in the rest of the takes.”
She watched Sally’s face contort into one of confusion.
“It just feels true what a modern girl would do and wear on a day like today.” Nicola continued.
“Well, we did discuss this earlier and the look just isn’t right for the tones and colours we’re going for – remember, we’re giving the visage of summer.” Sally spoke carefully.
“It’s not very summer to be in a three-piece suit though, is it?” Nicola shot back, her voice a tad sassier than she would have liked for it to have been.
She watched Sally visibly falter and regretted her own bluntness. She wanted to maintain professionalism but also convey that she had a voice, and she had boundaries, and those did not need to contradict the mission statement that day – they could work together if she would just be valued enough to have an input.
“I don’t believe my wardrobe choice comprises the artistic vision at all. If anything, I think it compliments it.” Nicola continued, her tone calm and firm.
Sally chewed this over and then with a big sigh, she shrugged. “Yeah, I guess.”
Sally walked back over to the director. Nicola pulled the cardigan on as she watched them converse, the director looked over at her and she gave him a terse smile and small wave back.
She realized in that moment that she was not scared out of her wits about what she had just done. In fact, she felt as composed as she had ever been.
This is what it really meant to make it. She thought.
It wasn’t about earning more money than she had ever before although that was nice.
It was about having her voice and not being scared to wield it.
This was what making it truly was – and God did it feel good.
Luke had played a role in pushing her towards that.
Nicola Coughlan: Gonna wear a cardi. Director 100% hates me. It’s looking unlikely on the free UberEats for life.
Luke Newton: Deliveroo’s better anyway.

From the beginning | Previously | Coin standings
Yes indeedy! That glue reminds you- just to the south of this market square in the medieval village, there's supposed to be a school of some sort. Since you VALUE LEARNING, you should head there next.
But first...
A DEMOCRAT spends a whopping 21 Coin and purchases a bevy of useful items from the fennec in the butterflies. How generous!
The WIFI ACCESS POINT can be installed in a particular area to gain access to the local network, allowing you to browse the files stored there and potentially communicate with users. Once installed, the access point can't be uninstalled, so choose your moment carefully- or save up for a new one.
DENIAL OF SERVICE is a gun! Wait, a gun?! Yeah, a gun. But like, a fake hacking gun that shoots highly concentrated packet bursts at glitches to overwhelm and stun them. It comes with six "bullets".
The SOFTWARE PATCH can be spent to increase your STINGY OUTLIER by 5% with no untoward side effects! It can even clear certain negative statuses.
You've also been delivered something from UBER EATS, a kind of overpriced food delivery app with a questionable business model. Still, beggars can't be choosers. What is this, tikka masala? It's pretty good!
But you are still hungry.
With all that out of the way, you make your way south.
You find something that might've been a school, once- but here it's nothing but a maze of overgrown ruins. Marble and brick buildings have been overtaken by gigantic trees that hungrily envelop anything they can get their roots on, and the halls, as usual, sit empty and devoid of life... that isn't a weird monster falling apart at the seams. You spot a toucan, except instead of a body it just has another beak, forming some sort of horrid banana that appears to be silently begging for death with two lungless mouths. Eegh.
What can you do here?
There's a couple of kids following you- creepy. These FILIAL TWINS are completely identical and finish each other's sentences, which is just plain spooky. Stop that!
There's someone else offering a tour of a factory that turns iron to sugary breakfast cereal. You don't know how that's possible, but you could find out on an IRON CANDY CHEERIOS TOUR.
Hey, an elevator! An elevator that's been booby-trapped to hell and back! WOO, LETHAL LIFT! You bet you'd be completely murdered if you got on this thing. Fun!
That mannequin's here, reminding you that you always have the option to use SECRETARY POSTURE to look your gleaming best for an EVIL DEVIL AGLEAM.

If They Call Me a Slut, You Know it Might be Worth it for Once
Ch. 8 Afterparty (Bizly Again) - Smut and Angst
Mentions of nausea in this Chapter
---------
I am significantly tipsy by the time it's approaching 1 am. After a night of hands all over me, kissing Tina, and taking shots, I'm a little desperate to get her alone. I'm still angry about what Bizly said. Angry that Charlie couldn't even stand to be in the same room as me.
We're outside sharing a cigarette and I lean towards her to ask, "What are your plans after this?"
"I'm crashing at my friend's tonight," she responds sweetly. Possibly a little oblivious to my oncoming request, she asks, "what about you?"
"I was wondering if you want come back to my place instead," I say, taking a slow drag after the question leaves my lips.
Her smile falters, "I- I don't think so, not tonight, we're drunk, and my friends-"
I squeeze her hand as she starts to talk, and making sure my tone is kind, I cut her off, "No need to explain, I don't mind," Her face lifts again and I can't help but giggle at her. "You're smile is so damn cute,"
"Thanks," she says bashfully.
"I'm going to call it a night though, do you want me to help you find your friends before I get an Uber?"
"No thats okay!" she responds, pulling away from me towards the doors. She bounces back after a step, kissing me on the cheek, "Tonight was so much fun, we should do this again,"
I smile back at her, I can't help it, "I'd like that,"
Before I can blink twice she's back in the club and I look out into the night. Well fuck. I think to myself while taking another drag. I should feel disappointed but for some reason I'm not. I finish my smoke and open my phone. It's probably for the best if I can't get my mind off of Biz and Charlie. I wasn't sure if the boys were still inside. I was equally unsure if Bizly was serious about his offer to have me over. I light another cigarette and open my dms with Biz. I stare at it for a several moments before reluctantly closing it. I had to have at least a little bit of self pride, right? Finishing my smoke I open the Uber app as I hear the noisy club behind me, the doors open.
"Hey!"
I don't think it could be someone talking to me but I look back anyways, and there he is. Bizly. He's looking right at me. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
"Saw your girl head back inside," he says as he steps up beside me, cracking a mischievous grin. "Does that mean it's my lucky night?"
My stomache flips over, drunken nausea airing it's head. I place a hand over my abdomen and lean forward, steadying myself and catching my breath.
The doors open behind us again and Bizly takes a quick glance back. "You alright?"
"Just dizzy. I need something to eat," I mutter.
"I've got a big pot of pasta in the slow cooker," he offers.
Ulterior motives aside, he's always got something good to eat. There's a reason we smoke at his place. Ulterior motives noted, I'm so god damn horny I could scream.
"Tempting," I say, straightening out and looking down at the Uber app.
He's still watching the door, "Well, the boys are gonna be out here in a few, I'm calling a ride. Text me if you're coming,"
I take a moment to look at his face, his lips, and then down to his hands. "Sure," is all I say, before stepping away and slipping around the side of the building. I continue to stare at the app, deciding on my destination, and hear the commotion of the other three leaving the bar.
"Yeah man, Uber's only like a minute away," I hear Bizly's loud voice. I'm sure the volume of it is for my benefit.
I wait for them to go and then put his address in my app. What's stopping me? I ask myself. Charlie. Is the immediate reply my brain shouts at me.
"Fuck," I say outloud, rubbing my temples. I press the button to call the ride and close the app.
When I slip into the back of the car I message Bizly.
Better have that bowl of pasta ready
Two bowls ready
He replies quickly, sending me an image of a packed bong.
Hell yeah MFer
When I get to his house and the driver pulls away I wait outside for an unreasonable amount of time. I look up at the night sky and and take several long, deep breaths. The light in the garage is on and I make my way over, quietly stepping inside.
Bizly's in his spot, bowl of pasta in his face, the slow cooker brought out and sat on the coffee table. There's an empty bowl and fork waiting for me.
"Hey!" I call in, as I close the door, "how's the pasta?"
"Hey!" He calls back, mouth full, "So fuckin' good,"
I slide into the couch beside him and look up at the cartoons playing on the old tv. Last time I was here it was between him and Charlie. That was the night they both hand their hands on me. The night Bizly had started to cover me in hickies. Excitement sparks in my chest.
"Here you gotta try this," Bizly said, lifting the lid of the slow cooker. Steam escapes as I grab my bowl and serve myself a helping. It smells delicious.
I eat beside Bizly. When he finishes he put his arm around me on the back of the couch. After I set mine down he picks up the bong.
"That feels better," I say, rubbing my stomach.
"Fuck yeah, dude" he says before taking a rip.
"You make the best food, man," I say, relaxing back into the couch as he passes me the lighter. After I take a big rip and hand it back, then lean my head back into the old fabric.
"Thanks," he grins.
We pass it back and fourth a few times before he finally sets it down and his arm ends up behind my head again.
"You look good tonight," he says, shifting closer. He tucks my hair behind my ear.
I smile and lean into him, placing a hand on his chest. Neither of us want to waste time. His arm slides down around me, pulling me up to his face. Our lips meet, sloppy and fast. My hand quickly finds its way around his neck. We're a tangled mess of arms as we try to get closer without breaking our faces from eachother. Eventually I climb onto his lap, straddling him. My skirt crawls upward as I bite into his bottom lip. His hands can't find one place to rest, making their way up my back and down my sides. When I break away from the kiss to breath, his face presses down into my chest and I feel his teeth brush over my skin. I whine and slide my hand up into his hair, pulling his face in farther. There's a muffled moan from between my tits. I tip my head back as his hands try to find their way under my tight top.
"It's- here, you gotta-" I say, pulling at the ribbon on the front. I get myself out of the corsette and place it on the coffee table behind us.
His hands on my back pull me towards him and his face finds my breasts again. I place both hands on his shoulders and grip into his shirt as he runs his tounge over a nipple.
"Uhhn!!" I moan out, and he looks back up at me. I pull myself back to his face, my fists balling up in his shirt, and kiss him firmly on the mouth, pressing my tounge between his lips as he cups my breasts.
"Fuuuuck," I tip my head back to groan out when he teases my nipples.
His face finds my neck and he starts to bite in, but pulls back. Instead he places a kiss and runs his tounge up to my jaw. I whimper as he flicks it away. I yank at his shirt and he sits up so I can pull it over his head.
"Fuck, Bizly, I need you so bad," I groan as he continues to kiss my skin. Sliding back on his legs, I reach down to undo his belt. He takes over and quickly pulls out his cock. My mouth hangs open, I still can't get over how thick he is. While I watch him slowly stroking, he reaches over the arm of the couch and grabs a bottle of lube. Ah, he was ready for this, I smile to myself. He tips it over and I watch as he coats his cock in the thick liquid. After he's done he slide his hands up between my legs, pulling roughly at my panties. I hear a ripping and lift my skirt to look. He's torn them right open.
"Holy fuck," my voice is whiney, desire apparent.
I look up to see a grin and feel two fingers press right into me. He curls them up to find the right spot and I groan in pleasure. He pumps his fingers fast, stopping occasionally to part them and open me up. His movements are quick and frustrated, like he just wants to fuck me already. I have to admit I feel the same. I pull his arm away and slide up his legs again, hovering myself to he can line his dick up to my entrance. I feel a hand on my outer thigh pulling me downwards and oblige, lowering myself slowly until I feel him starting to press in. I groan outloud, eyes shut tight as he enters me. I forgot how much he stretches me out. My legs are weak and I slip down too fast. I scream loudly, sunken into his lap, his dick skewering me.
"Ohhh fuck!" He yells out with me, gripping my ass hard.
Neither of us move for a moment, the sensation almost too much to bear. Then I feel him thrust ever so slightly, testing the waters. My legs are shaking and I whimper out as I shift weight back to my knees on either side of him. His cock throbs inside of me and his hips rock slightly. Each tiny movement feels enormous and I take a moment to get comfortable with the sensation. My shaky hands slide over his shoulders, up his neck and into his hair. I steady myself, raising my body as high as I can before dropping back onto him, letting his cock impale me again.
Eyes closed tightly, he yells again. His hands react instantly by pulling me down. It's a clumsy fuck, and it hurts, but it's too good to stop. We're a chorus of loud moans and whines. I have to release one hand from his hair and grab his shoulder to keep balance. My nails dig in and he gets louder.
He lets me ride him like this for a little longer, until neither of us can stand the agonizingly slow pace. "Stand up," he directs.
I whimper as he helps me off of his cock. He slides his pants to his feet and motions for me to turn around. I oblige, looking over my shoulder at him as his eyes and find my butt.
"I could never get enough of this," he growls the words out as his hands press into my skin. He leans back into the couch and pulls me to stand between his legs. "Sit on it, babe,"
I try not to rush, but desperately need his cock in me again. I groan out in pain as I hastily lower onto him, sinking down as he groans into my shoulder.
"Ohhh fuuuuuck, Bizly!" I shout into the garage as he grabs my hips and pulls me down fast.
He easily moves me, pulling me down onto his cock over and over. My head leans back against him.
"God, you feel so. Fucking. Good.," he grunts as he lets go of me and I fall fast.
I try to lift myself to keep going but I can't. He rotates his hips from below me and I cry out. His hands lift me up only to drop me again. I'm stuck in place, unable to get any footing as my platforms scrape the floor. He lifts me again and I wait for the drop, but instead he pumps up into me, hard. Hovering me above him like I weigh nothing, he fucks into me fast. Being used like this starts to push me over the edge, and the waves pass over me fast. Mere seconds pass before I scream his name, cumming on his lap as my body shakes. He doesn't stop until I ask him to in a sharp whimper. Bizly settles back on the couch, letting me down to his lap with our bodies still connected.
I lean back against him, resting against his chest and lifting an arm up to brush my fingertips against his face. Both of us are breathing heavy. Eventually he helps me off of his cock to cuddle up beside him.
"God, I think about this all the fucking time," Bizly murmurs, his voice carrying a hint of longing.
"Sex?" I question.
"You, you fucking smart ass," he replies, laughing and pushing at my shoulder. "I think about fucking you. About your mouth, your body, -about you moaning my name."
I look up at him with a cocky grin, "God damn, Bizly the poet,"
"Shut the fuck up," he teases, laughing harder.
We giggle together like a couple of dumb stoners until I start to think about what he said. It was hot.
"Oh fuck, do you really just spend all day just thinking about fucking me?" The laughter isn't gone, but bubbles up between words instead.
The groan in my ear sends a shiver up my spine. Damn, his voice really gets me going. "God, you don't even fuckin know," Bizly starts to trace his fingers up and down my skin.
"Dude, that tickles," I squirm, the giggles starting up again.
Teeth brush over my shoulder, lips finding sensitive skin to kiss. "I want-" he murmurs, nipping at my neck.
"Oh man I'm so texting you dirty things when I know you're busy now," I let a sly smile creep over my lips. I tip my head away, making more of my neck visible. The last marks he'd left had almost faded and I'd really just started to like them.
"Oh no, don't do that," his sarcastic, mock protest is followed by another kiss on skin.
A gasps escapes my lips everytime Bizly barely bites into me, until I'm whining at the lack of hickies he's leaving.
"You like that?," he whispers between kisses.
"I'd like-," a shiver in my spine makes me stop to gasp, "-like you to leave me new bruises, Biz," my playfulness has been replaced by building desire.
He moans softly at my request, dragging teeth again, "Are you sure? You know we have a mutual friend who might not like that,"
Like a knife is pushing through a lung, my breath leaves me in a huff. He pulls his face away. Anger burns in my neck under the places his teeth touched, crawling up into my face.
"Kinda besides the point if you're trying to turn me on again," I half-heartedly tease, turning to look up at him.
There's an undeniable flash of guilt in his expression, and seeing it turns my stomach. We both sit there for a moment, just looking towards eachother.
"Look, he didn't have to- it's not my fault if-" I start forming excuses, good reasons for being here right now inspite of how Charlie feels. Nothing I try to say feels right in my mouth.
"Look, I've been dying to get my teeth in you all night, but..." He trails off, shifting uncomfortably.
"I'm not with him," I defend our drunken hookup. "He doesn't own me,"
"I shouldn't have brought it up," Bizly goes to move away.
I quickly place my hand on the side of his face, turning it back. He waits while I shift my body to face him fully. Sitting on my knees I lean up to the other side of his face, pulling his head towards my lips.
"Bizly, I want you," I whisper, "I want to know when you're thinking of me, when- oh fuck do you touch yourself thinking about me?" I glide my hand into his hair, playing with strands of it as I speak.
"Mm-yeah," he murmurs.
I press my bare chest against him and let the words drip from my mouth with a syrupy sweetness, "I really want you to tell me how you imagine me. Please Bizly?" I stretch his name out into a whimper and I feel his body tense below me.
"Just like this," he growls back at me. I feel his firm hand on my ass, tightly holding one cheek.
I moan approvingly, grazing his ear with my lips as I kiss his neck, letting teeth press in. "Do you ever look at pictures of me?" I ask with a smile in my words and a breath almost caught in my throat.
"That question feels like a trap," Bizly grins back. I think he's enjoying my questions.
"Let's see," I turn towards the table to find my phone. I open my Instagram account, holding the phone so we can both see, I let him take it from me. "Which ones?"
He gives me a look, eyebrow up. "For real?"
I smile, slowly trailing my hand out of his hair, down to his face. I rub his cheek, brushing his stubble with the print of my thumb. Watching my hand move down to his chest, I lean in to kiss him. He is nice to touch. Something about having a man under my hands always felt so good. I allow myself to just enjoy my fingers traveling down his torso slowly. His body reacts to my touch. The kiss only breaks when we need to catch our breath.
"I really want to know," my coy smile returns, "what it looks like when you're thinking of me," as I speak I slide my fingers over his erection. I love the throbbing sensation in my hand.
His hips instinctively react and he bucks his cock through my grasp. "F-fuck," he moans.
My hand pulls away and my attention turns back to my phone. I feel him grabbing at my arm. He looks absolutely desperate.
"Show me what you look at when you want to fuck me," I trail my hand back up to his chest then take the phone back from him.
I feel Bizly sitting there stunned for a moment and glance over to see an awkward grin on his face. I slowly scroll through my own Instagram, the screen directed towards us both.
"This one?" I ask, stopping at a bikini pic from last month at the beach. Bizly was there that day, I remember smoking a joint with him between cars in the parking lot.
"Uhh..." He glances down at my tits, then back at my phone. His hand presses into my soft skin, taking a breast and squishing it against me. His other arm holds me steady, "Gotta admit, I've thought about that bikini more than once,"
"I wish you would have told me sooner. If we'd been alone at the beach, or we'd snuck off after that joint..." I pose the scenario, trying to get him to play along, to dirty talk for me.
"Where would we sneak off to?" He asks, continuing to press and rub at my breast.
"Hmmm," I close my eyes and imagine that day. Wondering if Bizly'd had his eyes on me when I wasn't looking. "Into one of the cars? Who drove that day?"
"I went with Griz," he murmurs as he leans down to kiss my chest, pressing his face into my cleavage.
"Mmmf-" this was turning me on too fast, "so, you get me alone in the back seat of Grizzly's SUV. We're stoned, and I'm giggling, and we pretend like we're just back here to be high out of the sun,"
"Can I tell that you want me?" He questions.
"Roll an insight check," I tease, and he looks back up at me to roll his eyes. "I'm joking, I'm- you have your arm around me, and I've got my head leaned on it. I'm laughing at something you said. You definately see me check you out, I think I'm being sneaky about it, but fuck you look good with your shift off,"
"Hmmm, I pretend like I'm going to whisper something funny so you'll lean in close. Then I-" he demonstrates, kissing me with a slow passion that catches my off guard.
"So," I catch my breath before continuing, "any others?" I go to scroll through my phone again and he places his hand over mine.
"How about you show me what you like to look at when you're home alone and horny,"
"Okay," I say, opening our dms. "Here," I show him the photo he'd sent me last weekend, his cock under grey sweats, obviously hard.
"Aw c'mon for real," he teases.
I sit back down on the couch, face reddening as I decide the least embarassing thing to show him. Bizly's hand traces over my thighs, and I lay back, draping my legs over his. The tickle of his fingers getting close to my center gets me going just enough to push through the embarrassment.
"Wh-what do you want to see?" My voice trembles as he carefully spreads my legs. I'm browsing Bizly's instagram but the dude mostly posts goofy shit.
His fingers move up to my wet core and tease back and forth. "Anything you get off to, babe," Bizly grins. "God, you're fucking wet," His fingers pull away and I see how slick they are.
"Fuck, Bizly," I murmur his name, closing my eyes, as he presses his fingers back between my legs, slipping just barely inside of me. I close my eyes for a moment, whimpering until he drags his hand back down my leg and I groan.
"God, my name sounds so good in your mouth," he murmurs at me.
"Make me cum again and I'll show you what's good in my mouth," the words leave my mouth and he slips me back on the couch. Moving to hover over me, spreading my legs to either side of him, he pushes his fingers inside me. I drop my phone.
"Dirty girl," he smirks as his hand picks up pace.
I grab at him, running hands over his chest, gripping his shoulders, and trying to pull him closer to my face. He obliges with another grin and I pull him down into a kiss. Before he can pull away, I trace my fingers over the end of his cock and feel it twitch. His breath catches and it sounds divine. He slams his fingers into me fast and I whine, his wrist working to create a steady, increasing rhythm. As my breathy whimpers become open- mouth moans Bizly leans down to run his tounge over my clit.
"Bizly, Bizly, biz- I'm going to-" I cut my self off as his mouth wraps around my clit and his fingers flick fast inside my hole. My body jolts as I cum hard, "Bizlyyy!" I yell, intentionally dragging out his name.
He groans between my thighs as they press in on either side of his head. Pulling his fingers out as I release his head, he lifts back up over me and licks them clean.
"Damn you're so hot," are the first words I say as the orgasm passes.
"Let's go inside," his eyes travel up my body, "I don't think you want to be on your knees out here,"

001. new recruit [half-written] | masterlist
taglist : @dearyujimin @aeriniee @jinsoulinator @dollinin @minaripenguu @gayforalll @hyejuwu @tenjito @baewonlove @strawberrytoki
a/n : hyunseo is lessso btw !

BEEP-BEEP-BEEP
you rubbed your eyes as you forced yourself to get up. as you put on your glasses and opened your phone you giggled
gaeul : she fucking forced me to teacher the newbies !
you quickly texted the angry secretary backs and got ready for work. you yawned as you turned on your coffee machine and cracked an egg over your only pan.
“did you see gauel’s text ! it was supposed to be me but I told our dear yujinnie gaeul ‘loves the youth’”. as wonyoung laughed you slapped her arm.
“your going to get her in anger management classes !”
“again !”. wonyoung giggled as she picked up your cat. you threw more eggs and popped some bacon in your air fryer as wonyoung cooed at your little ginger cat.
“sooooo”. you turned around looking for plates as wonyoung tapped the counter.
“yujin updates !”. you racked your brain for some gossip to feed the girl. wonyoung had come up with the idea that yujin just had a massive crush on you and was misting being mean to show she cared. and for the three months she spewed this shit your rejected it.
“uh.. she glared at me?”. wonyoung slapped your counter making your cat jump off her lap.
“that’s all you got..”. wonyoung pouted as you gave her, her plate of food.
“your making your food sad..”. wonyoung rolled her eyes. the bacon was almost black and upside down with two eggs on top.. that looked mutated.
“I brought breakfast donuts don’t worry”. you sighed as wonyoung took the box of two donuts from her back pack.
“hay why do you have th-“
“sleep over~”. you threw your head back as you poured some water in your cats bowl and some food. she ran around your feet before finally eating it.
“yes ! you know you want a free facial !”. you sighed as you grabbed your work bag and tried to pull down your skirt.
“omg it’s not even that short ! it’s the longest miniskirt I have for christ sake y/n !”. you laughed as you shoved the donut in your mouth and wonyoung ran with hers out your door.
“oh my good I hope you get that bonus soon I’m tired of uberring everywhere..”. you sighed as you ate the last of your donut. wonyoung gave you a piece of gum while she finally took a bite of hers.
“buy your own car?”. wonyoung laughed as you put your lipstick back on. bump
you sighed as wonyoung whipped off the smudge from your cheek and reapplied your lipstick. it was well known by your group that wonyoung had money. she just didn’t use it cause you all didn’t have money like she did. unless it was clothes, or some random campaign or girl scouts cookies wonyoung never spent more then four hundred bucks a week. which she knew was a lot but she just loved miu miu to much.
“shit it didn-“. wonyoung pouted as you ate the last bite of her donut and ran around the car to open her door. she then smiled and tipped the driver twenty bucks. you glared at her.
“what.. he called my outfit skirt”
“you mean the cropped shirt.. the short skirt and the unproperly tied tie?”. wonyoung gasped. but as you entered the building fixed her tie behind you. when you entered the office gauel’s head was on her desk, liz was talking to the new recruits and rei was typing away.
“hey I’ll see you at lu-“
“mrs. y/l/n can you step into my office”. you jumped and wonyoung laughed. you gave her the finger and then fast walked to yujin’s office.
“wh-“
“mrs…. lee..”
“lee hyunseo”. your eyes darted to the teen girl sitting far far far end of your bosses long table.
“yes.. needs a tour of the place and a run through because she was just hired yesterday”. you but your lip, smile and nodded urging hyunseo to follow you.
“oh thank you mrs..”. you had already left. Yujin sighed as she opened her computer and typed ‘praise was not heard’ in her notes app titled ‘confess to y/n’.
as you showed hyunseo around she started to look less wide eyed and more scared. as you approached the new recruit area you stopped her.
“they aren’t going to bite”
“how do you know that?”
“cause I was one of them”. hyunseo tilted her head of the idea of you relating to her.
“really..?”. you patted her head and she cracked a smile.
“ya don’t worry just excuse yourself to the bathroom if you need help”. the younger girl nodded as she waved you goodbye and went into the glass room. immediately you heard a grown.
“you ok eul?”
“fuck no”. you laughed and gaeul pulled her head of her desk.
“oh.. yujin left this for you it’s not poisoned I checked”. you smile dropped as you saw pink lipstick in the coffee. but it creeped up again when you saw the untouched cupcake box.
“you know maybe wo-“
“no no no, have a good day keep the coffee”. you grabbed the cupcake and ran to your desk while gaeul sipped her coffee.
as the recruits left the office the same girl from years ago showed them to their desks. hyunseo was last and sat right across of you next to yeojin. you quickly texted and she turned around and winked at you.

this is so so so small compared to how it is for other people. like i gotta be clear it is nothing. but man sometimes it's just so demeaning to start looking for orders on uber eats and have to repeatedly reject $3 offers that take like half an hour. there's just so many of them. doordash is a fair bit better but i get like, a fraction of the offers, and i only have so much time to slot in a delivery. but it's just miserable sometimes to eventually give in. fine, i'll drive 25 minutes on the highway to drop off some donuts. fine, i'll take the 15 dollars, because it's better, even though it'll take me over an hour round trip, it'll exhaust me, and that's technically less than minimum wage here. i get paid 20 bucks for a 40 minute shift as a crossing guard. showing up for a dropoff and the app only tells me After i've tried to mark it as delivered that i need to get the PIN for some reason. having to go back and do the shameful "i'm sorry, but it says i need a PIN before i can mark it as delivered" and it's not like they're ever mean about it but. my boss is a phone. my boss if a phone and i constantly have to be tracked, and constantly have to prove to it that i'm doing what it asks. it withholds basic information, like what kind of building i'll be dropping this off at, until i've proven i picked up the order. all of the uber eats orders i take end up below minimum wage and i just take them because i hope i'll get tipped. yesterday i had to go up 22 flights on the elevator and the app didn't account for the several minutes extra time that would take, and it ended up late. today i got home exhausted and with a stomach ache and donut lady tipped me 7 dollars and i nearly cried because god at least she appreciated it
#if you can believe it this is still like. one of the best jobs i've ever had#crossing guard is better though. i do both#i just feel a bit subhuman as a delivery driver sometimes#the stores don't like me. the phone is cold and demanding. the customers don't even thank me when i hand it to them sometimes#anyway i said this is small compared to other people because i still do this by choice. it is not survival money.#it wouldn't be small for people who need to do this#i'm just disabled and can only work for small periods so this is what i've got#mine#vent

hi i love ur blog sm!!! i'm studying in egypt for around 9 months as part of a university program and i was wondering if you had any advice for me (based off ur pinned post- if u don't live in egypt anymore u can ignore this!!!!) both as a woman and just in general. if this isn't something you'd like to talk about feel free to ignore! i hope you're doing well <3
Hey! Welcome to Egypt, also known in the region as the mother of the world.
Mostly my advice would be to steer clear of anyone trying to sell you things on the streets. Don’t take taxis, Uber is more expensive but safer and you’re less likely to get scammed. Idk if you speak any Arabic but try to learn some, it helps in navigating day to day life without getting scammed. Most everyone speaks English (badly, lol), though, so it’s not a requirement. Don’t walk alone at night, don’t trust Egyptian men for half a second, ever, no matter how well you think you know them. Try to make friends quickly, Egyptian women are very friendly and welcoming and extremely helpful. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and support from friends and neighbours. If you’re in Cairo, beware the metro system, it’ll always take at least twice as long as you think it will. If you’re in Alexandria, trams are a good way to travel around if you know what you’re doing, but you’ll have to get to know the tram lines.
Don’t trade currency on the black market, keep to the banks and currency exchange outlets. Don’t drink tap water, and don’t eat from dodgy looking carts unless you have someone’s assurance you won’t get sick off of it.
And, most importantly, enjoy your time to the fullest. Try all the traditional food, explore the museums and historical sites, try to find social media pages and influencers who share ‘hidden gems’ around where you’ll be staying.
Download talabat (it’s a food delivery app and it delivers groceries as well) and mrsool (it’s basically an app to like… get someone to pick up/buy/deliver something for you for a fee) once you get here. And get an Egyptian SIM card on arrival, I recommend Vodafone but be aware coverage might not be great depending on where you are, a lot of areas don’t get any cell coverage inside buildings.
If you’re going to be in Alexandria, hit me up for recommendations if you’d like! And have fun!

Behind the Scenes of Food Delivery App Development and Its Backend Technical Breakdown

Ever wondered what fuels your food orders behind the scenes? This Food Delivery App Development Guide uncovers the backend magic, key models, and cost factors inspiring your next tech move.
What really happens behind the curtain of food delivery app development?
It’s more than just “order and deliver,” it’s a symphony of code, cloud, and consumer behavior.
You tap a screen, and voilà! A hot pizza lands at your door in 30 minutes. Seems magical, right? But beneath that clean, user-friendly interface is an orchestra of backend brilliance; databases humming, APIs talking, GPS tracking ticking like clockwork.
Welcome to the unseen world of food delivery app development where every second counts, and every click is backed by thousands of lines of code.
In this Food Delivery App Development Guide, we take you behind the kitchen doors of app engineering, revealing how a top food delivery app development company builds, launches, and scales powerful delivery platforms.
“A successful food delivery app isn’t just about UX/UI; it’s about syncing real-world logistics with digital precision in real time.”
Why is backend architecture the unsung hero?
Think of the backend like the heart of a high-performance kitchen. While customers interact with the shiny menu (frontend), the backend makes the magic happen: managing users, processing payments, routing orders, and updating delivery status in milliseconds.
This is where frameworks like Node.js, Django, or Laravel come in, paired with cloud infrastructures like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for scalability. Real-time communication, geolocation, and predictive analytics? That’s all handled in the backend.
And don’t even get us started on load balancing during peak meal hours, when everyone’s ordering dinner at once!
Here’s what a typical backend system must handle:
User authentication & session management
Menu sync and order logic
Payment processing with PCI compliance
Real-time GPS tracking for delivery agents
Push notifications and SMS updates
Feedback and review integration
Admin panel with analytics and business controls
All of this needs to run fast, secure, and scalable. And that’s just the beginning.
What are the different types of food delivery app models, and how do they affect backend development?
Not all food delivery apps are built the same, and that changes everything.
Just like there’s a difference between fine dining and fast food, there’s a huge difference between how different types of food delivery app models operate. Your backend architecture, cost, and scalability all hinge on which model you go with.
Let’s break them down.
1. Order-Only Model (Aggregator)
Think: Zomato, Yelp
In this model, your app serves as a directory of restaurants where users browse, choose, and place an order but the restaurants handle the delivery themselves. Backend here focuses on user flow, restaurant listings, reviews, and menu management.
Less complex logistics.
Heavy focus on review and discovery algorithms.
2. Order + Delivery Model (Logistics Focused)
Think: Uber Eats, DoorDash
Here, your app is responsible for both ordering and delivery, making backend complexity shoot up.
Need real-time driver assignment algorithms
Integration with delivery tracking
Complex backend for managing delivery radius, ETA, and driver incentives
“This model requires a robust dispatch system that mimics the precision of ride-hailing apps but faster.”
3. Full-Stack Model (Cloud Kitchens)
Think: Rebel Foods, Faasos
The business owns the entire food chain, kitchen to doorstep. Here, the backend needs to integrate kitchen inventory systems, chef dashboards, and production analytics.
Full control, full responsibility.
Complex backend logic meets physical kitchen workflows.
How does backend complexity influence food delivery app development cost?
The more brains in the backend, the higher the budget
We get asked this all the time: “What’s the real food delivery app development cost?”
Well, the answer is, it depends. On features, model, integrations, scale, and most importantly, the backend.
A rough breakdown of food delivery app development cost:
Basic Aggregator App: $10,000 — $25,000
Order + Delivery Model: $30,000 — $70,000
Full-Stack Cloud Kitchen Platform: $60,000 — $120,000+
Keep in mind, this doesn’t include ongoing server costs, maintenance, or updates. You’re not just building an app, you’re building a living ecosystem.
Where does most of the cost go?
Backend engineering & API integrations
Server architecture for scalability
Security protocols and payment gateway compliance
Real-time systems: Chat, notifications, tracking
“A $30,000 backend today can save you $300,000 in scaling headaches tomorrow.”
What tools, tech stacks, and APIs power a modern food delivery app backend?
Your backend stack is your secret sauce.
Just like a kitchen needs the right knives, your backend needs the right tech. Choosing the wrong tools can burn your budget and your user experience.
Popular backend stacks for food delivery apps development guide:
Node.js + Express.js: real-time, scalable
Django + Python: fast development, security-first
Laravel + PHP: great for MVPs and modular builds
Pair them with:
PostgreSQL or MongoDB for data storage
Redis for caching and lightning-fast speed
Firebase or Twilio for chat & notifications
Stripe, Razorpay for secure payments
Must-have 3rd-party API integrations:
Google Maps API: For geolocation and route mapping
SendGrid / Twilio: For SMS and email notifications
Stripe / PayPal / Razorpay: For payments
ElasticSearch: For lightning-fast search results
AWS S3 / Cloudinary: For media storage
Backend DevOps you can’t ignore:
CI/CD pipelines for smooth updates
Docker/Kubernetes for container orchestration
Load balancing to handle traffic surges
Monitoring tools like New Relic or Datadog
These aren’t just buzzwords, they’re the digital equivalent of hiring a Michelin-starred chef for your app’s kitchen.
How do you optimize performance, scalability, and reliability in food delivery apps?
Achieving flawless performance is no accident; it’s an art.
The difference between a viral app and one that crashes on Friday night dinner rush? Architecture.
When it comes to food delivery apps development guide, performance isn’t just about speed; it’s about predictability and efficiency at scale. To stay competitive, especially in a saturated market, your app needs to perform well under varying loads and unpredictable surges, like during lunch hours or special offers.
If your app is sluggish, unresponsive, or crashes under heavy load, it’s more than a bad user experience, it’s a lost customer. And that loss of trust can be costly.
Performance Optimization Strategies:
1: Database Query Optimization:
Food delivery apps rely heavily on database queries for everything; from pulling restaurant menus to tracking orders. Slow queries can bring down performance. Optimizing these queries- indexing tables, reducing join complexity, and using caching mechanisms like Redis ensures quick response times even with large datasets.
2: Data Caching:
Instead of fetching the same data from the database every time, caching frequently accessed data can drastically speed up the app. For example, caching restaurant menus, popular dishes, and user profiles reduces the load on the server, while improving app speed. Tools like Redis or Memcached are excellent for caching.
3: Load Balancing:
To avoid a server crash when user demand spikes, use load balancing to distribute traffic across multiple servers. Auto-scaling ensures your app can handle traffic surges (e.g., during lunch rush or major promotions). Cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud offer auto-scaling features that dynamically adjust based on real-time traffic.
4: Minimizing API Latency:
APIs are at the heart of food delivery apps development guide interactions for payments, geolocation, and order management. Optimizing API calls and minimizing latency is crucial for real-time operations. Reduce the number of unnecessary API calls and compress data to optimize speed. GraphQL is also a good alternative to REST APIs, as it allows you to fetch only the data you need.
Strategies for rock-solid backend performance:
Scalability is about ensuring your app doesn’t break under increasing demands. Whether you’re growing your user base, expanding into new cities, or dealing with new features like real-time tracking and live chat, scalability is key to future-proofing your app. But scaling isn’t just about adding more resources; it’s about architecting your app in a way that allows it to grow effortlessly.
Microservices architecture: Divide backend functions into small, manageable services (auth, orders, tracking, etc.)
Cloud-based auto-scaling: Scale servers dynamically as traffic increases
CDNs: Use Content Delivery Networks to reduce latency
Caching: Cache frequently used data like menu items, restaurant listings, etc.
Scalability Optimization Strategies:
1: Microservices Architecture:
Scaling traditional monolithic apps can be cumbersome, especially when you add more users or features. By breaking down your backend into microservices (individual, decoupled services for payment, tracking, notifications, etc.), you can scale each service independently based on demand. This allows faster deployment, better fault isolation, and smoother scaling of individual components.
2: Cloud Infrastructure:
Leveraging cloud-based infrastructure for auto-scaling ensures that your app can handle increased load without impacting user experience. Cloud services like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud allow you to use elastic load balancing, auto-scaling groups, and serverless computing to handle spikes in traffic efficiently.
3: Database Sharding and Partitioning:
As your app scales, your database will become more strained. Database sharding (splitting large databases into smaller, more manageable pieces) ensures data is distributed across multiple servers, making it more efficient and faster to access. It reduces bottlenecks and ensures data scalability in case of heavy traffic.
4: CDNs (Content Delivery Networks):
Use CDNs (such as Cloudflare or AWS CloudFront) to cache static content like images, menus, and other media files closer to the user’s location. This dramatically reduces latency and improves page load times. It’s crucial for scaling without overloading your original server.
Reliability: Keeping your app up and running smoothly
Reliability is all about uptime, availability, and redundancy. In food delivery, even a few minutes of downtime can result in lost orders, frustrated customers, and a damaged reputation. You need to ensure your app remains operational even in the event of a failure.
Disaster Recovery and Backup Systems:
A critical part of reliability is having a disaster recovery plan in place. Automated backups of databases and server snapshots ensure that in the event of a crash, you can restore data and bring the app back up within minutes. Regular testing of disaster recovery plans is also essential.
Fault Tolerance via Redundancy:
A reliable app needs to be fault tolerant. This means setting up redundant systems so if one part of the system fails, there’s another part to take over. Using multiple server instances in different geographic regions ensures that, even if one server fails, others continue serving your users without disruption.
Monitoring Tools:
Real-time monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, or Prometheus can track your app’s performance and alert you to issues before they affect users. These tools help you identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and other issues quickly, ensuring high availability at all times.
Continuous Deployment and Testing:
CI/CD pipelines (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) allow you to release updates without interrupting service. Automated testing ensures that new code doesn’t introduce bugs, and the app remains reliable even after updates.
Real-World Example: Scaling and Optimizing Food Delivery App Performance
We worked with a fast-growing food delivery startup that was struggling with performance issues during peak hours. They were using a monolithic architecture, which caused slowdowns when thousands of users were simultaneously placing orders.
Solution:
Migrated them to a microservices architecture.
Optimized their database queries by indexing and caching.
Integrated AWS auto-scaling to handle traffic surges.
Result:
App response time decreased by 70% during high traffic periods.
Uptime improved to 99.99%, with zero service disruptions during scaling.
Real-world case study:
We helped a mid-tier food delivery app go from 300 to 10,000 orders/day by optimizing:
Their order assignment algorithm
Real-time location tracking via Redis streams
Server load balancing with AWS Elastic Load Balancer
Results? 80% faster performance, zero downtime, and increased retention.
