I’ve never been to a place that had animatronics or anything, and if Freddy’s ever happened to be real, I would have loved to go—gotta see any of the Bonnie’s.

I have such a vague memory of when I was real little, going to a Chuck. E. Cheese’s, but it wasn’t one that actually had animatronics or anything like that.

Honestly? Imagine if there was ever a real horror attraction/Fazbear’s Fright- I’ve never been to a sort of thing like that, But I’d love to go to that.

Does anyone else remember that restaurant chain that was like a Canadian-themed steakhouse but it had animatronic talking moose heads on the wall and stuff? Bugaboo Creek? Haven’t thought of it in ages but it’s my brother’s birthday today and so my brain has dredged up the horrible birthday song they used to sing there (to avoid paying royalties on “Happy Birthday”). Anyway, there was a pop-up raccoon in a barrel and a talking Christmas tree in winter and kid me ducking loved it there. Only now realizing how weird it was as a restaurant

Holy shit. BAD IDEA visiting Rosencrantz & Guildenstern's.

Apparently I have a fear of taxidermy. I've never been around enough taxidermy at once to discover this fact, so of course the moment I sat at the bar next to the muskrat holding a stack of menus, I started freaking out.

I don't know exactly what it is about taxidermy that bothers me. The unnatural look, maybe, or the glassy eyes. The feeling of looking at something you know is dead and should be long gone, but here it is posed on its hind legs wearing a Bills jersey.

This place is packed with taxidermy- even on a good night the animals outnumber the people. It kind of reminds me of going to Bugaboo Creek as a kid and getting scared out of my mind when the animals started singing. Maybe that's where my fear comes from. I'm weirdly sad that the place shut down. Now that it's gone, I can't go back to make peace with it. My fears are frozen in time.

The owners of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern's, a brother and sister named Frank and Becca, knew Pat pretty well. "As well as anyone could know him," Becca said. He was an optimistic, hardworking guy who would do anything for his community. Frank and Becca's voices shook as they told this story. They wish they didn't end things on such bad terms, Frank said. They had no idea he would disappear for good. They had no idea.

I tried my best to reassure them and turned the conversation to an easier topic, my official reason for being here: their bar. How long they've been in business, what inspires, them, what all the inside jokes mean in the cocktail names. The rest of the interview went well, and I thanked them and left. A sign dangled from the antlers of a deer head over the door saying "Come buck soon!" I grabbed a box of matches as I left, wondering if Pat ever found a safe place for those papers.
