Thinking about a Laishuro + Farcille dynamic where Falin and Toshiro relate to each other much like how Laios does to Marcille.

I see some parallels between them that I'm pretty sure are accidental, but, still fun to think of. Having a close relationship with your brother's partner, introverts vs extroverts, magic user and fighter, etc.

There're also some unique challenges that Laishuro would face with each other, that I think only their girl besties would help them sort out, but uniquely from the "I know you, you're one of my best friends, your personality is a lot like mine and your partner is like mine, so believe me when I tell you that you're currently messing up Like This."

Something something. Toshiro approaching Falin because he's having trouble with something Laios is doing, only for Falin to casually point out he's not communicating very effectively. Or Laios going on and on about something he's excited to show to Toshiro, only for Marcille (expert in speaking and dealing with Laios) to go "are you absolutely sure he's happy about it? He may have trouble speaking over your excitement, you know?" which is something that's happened to her with Fall.

Thinking about the parallels between Falin and Toshiro and how both their passive strikes are represented through consumption.

Falin getting eaten by a dragon, not once but twice, and only manages to bring herself back when she eats it back. Passive, kind Falin, who won't take from the world if she can help it. Falin, who once she connects and listens to her hunger, finally manages to come back, changed, yes, yet successfully.

Toshiro running on fumes, refusing everything that's given to him in his sacrifice and penance* to get Falin back. Starvation being just cannibalization of the self, eating at yourself until there's nothing left. Toshiro, who'll only take as much as is given to him, and whose only selfish request ever wasn't even for himself.

(* Let's remember that Laios said his role in the party was to deliver the killing blows in a fight. Was he repenting? )

Always always thinking about it being to Toshiro to whom she says "I've always done what the people most important to me (Laios, Marcille) wanted, I want to start living for myself now".

Her walking a couple steps that put her ahead of her narrative reflection, and valuing their friendship enough to look back and let this conversation she had with herself reach him.

"Eating is the privilege of the living", and how being unwilling to take from the world only sets you up to lose your own life.

Guy at my union meeting tonight got pissed off that the union endorsed Biden and made a motion that nobody be allowed to talk about politics at any of the meetings. His reasoning was that he didn't want the meetings to be derailed with long-winded discussions or fights about politics. He is the only person to have brought up politics the whole meeting, he got into a ten-minute fight with the business manager about it, and he was wearing a "Biden is a communist sell-out" t-shirt the whole time.
