☕ embroidery

I think embroidery is fucking cool as shit. It's one of those things that I find amazingly intricate and I just know how much work went into it. So I'm super jealous of the people who can do some of the amazing things I've seen. Like full country landscapes and shit. Incredible replications of famous art. Even fucking memes. And I wanna be able to do it so bad, but I've accepted the fact that it's one of those things that I am too impatient to get better at and that I frankly just don't have the eye for lol. (Also my arthritis would kill me.)

A lot of embroidery on clothes makes me think of my Nana. Roses and little flowers and birds. Which is funny because she never wore anything with birds on it because she thought it was bad luck. Just like putting shoes on the table was. But she had a lot of embroidered pillows and clothing and such.

When I see the word embroidery I think of a soft baby blue bedspread and pink roses embroidered on decorative pillows. There's another pillow in the navy blue rocking chair, embroidered with some kind of saying which I don't doubt was religious, but which is too hazy for me to remember. There's the sound of an alarm clock ticking that's older than I am. There's a soft smell of baby powder and something else, something sweet. Her perfume, maybe. I was never sure. And there's my Nana; with her hair a different shade of red every time she emerges from the hairdresser, but which I always remember as golden. There are the soft blue forget-me-nots embroidered on the collar of her shirt.

I see an embroidered pillow or an embroidered handkerchief and I can't help but think about her.

So I decided to be pretentious instead of talking about embroidery itself lmaooooooooooo

3. What do you order at a café?

If we’re talking like Starbucks I’ll go for a mocha, some kind of flavor like hazelnut or raspberry. Hot or cold, depends on the weather. Otherwise I’ll usually get some kind of matcha latte thing, especially if it’s nice out. If we’re talking anywhere with a good boba or milk tea option that’s all I care about, fuck me right up with the sea salt cream milk tea with lychee jelly baybeeeee also some kinda fruity pastry or cream cake thing. most desserts are nice.

20. If you were to cultivate a fruit orchard, what would you grow?

I’d grow at least one monstrosity hybrid citrus tree, so I can have a shit ton of oranges and also lemons and limes. Yes if I had my own orchard I could just have separate lemon and lime trees, but what’s the point of knowing I can graft trees together if I’m not gonna do it when I have the chance? I’d also like to grow like.... dates and pomegranates. Just a real weird set of fruits in my orchard.
