A jump from modern day to the early 1990's when we meet a young, aspiring rockstar Eddie Munson at the heart of the Seattle grunge scene. I had the huge honor of being included in the Tattoo Cover-up Valentine's Day Special episode of Gutterballs by @dr-aculaaa and I'm still emotional about it, to be honest. This wee contribution is dedicated to Drac, as well as all of the Gutterballs friends I'm proud to know because of this fandom (coming for you, Daria.)

18+, smoking weed, the term 'bitches' used affectionally, mention of heartbreak, allusions to mental illness, a supposed one-night stand that became more, mention of addiction, that one friend who can find anyone online, hurt/comfort. Reader (Betty) has a good friend named Shelby, which is actually my cat in real life.

You picked at the label of your beer, waiting impatiently for your friend to pull up something on her laptop.

It was the recent episode of Gutterballs that had spurred your Sherlock Holmes friend into action. You said something in passing about how it’d be impossible to find the rest of Eddie Munson’s lost loves that were mentioned on the infamous podcast, and then she’d lost sleep wanting to prove you wrong.  

“So. Here’s Abi and Chelsea,” Shelby motioned for you to come and look over her shoulder. She clicked on search tabs one at a time, including one for Ashley, causing a melancholy smile to quiver at the side of your mouth.  “Pretty,” you nodded. “Eddie always knew how to pick ‘em.”

“This one looks dangerous,” she pointed to Jo, adjusting her glasses. “They all seem totally cool, actually.” 

You scanned the various results from her internet sleuthing.  “Which one is that?”

“Oh, that’s Meg,” Shelby clicked on a social media profile, and then pulled up a video of a chef with purple hair preparing something on the morning show.

“Fuckin, Meg,” you said under your breath in your best Eddie voice.  

“Doesn’t she own that restaurant in Chicago we couldn’t afford to go to?” Shelby pinched her joint from the ashtray and took a drag, enlarging photos from their menu, concentrating.  “I wonder if they accept Groupon.”

You stealthily followed Abby on social media from your private account and planned to buy some of her watercolor paintings.  Funny enough, you already knew Emily. The two of you had been part of a mutual friend group for years, and so when Eddie mentioned them being a bitch you had to snort a laugh because…yeah.    

“Nice work, Columbo,” you patted Shelby’s shoulder.  “You found all of them in under 24 hours. I shall make you a commemorative plaque out of dry macaroni.”

Checking her phone, your sleuth friend mumbled to herself as she went down a rabbit hole of social media comments.

“Not all,” she slipped her bottom lip through her teeth a few times.  “Took me a while to find Rose, they go by a different name on social media.  The drawings they do are badass, and they like that same actor you do, the one with the Minecraft head.”

“So, I’m the only one out of all of them who didn’t do anything with my life? Nice.”

“Hey,” she said in mock scorn.  “I bet none of these bitches can say they’ve had absolutely every career that’s ever existed. It takes a special kind of ingenuity to change jobs every 6 months. Plus, you wrote and published a whole-ass novel.”

“It only sold 37 copies,” you muttered. “Ten of which were to you and mom.”

You held your breath after that, watching the screen, waiting for the one name you hadn’t been able to connect a face to yet, but instead, Shelby slumped on the barstool with a defeated sigh.  “Daria might be the one that got away.  Haven’t found even a crumb for who or where they might be.”

“Damn,” you said softly.   …where are you, Strigoi? 

“How does Eddie even pull partners this hot?” Shelby asked, turning to dig for her Visine.  “Wasn’t he the one who bragged about being able to burp the alphabet?”

Laughter bubbled in your throat at the memory; the type of laugh that immediately made tears burst from your eyes. You wiped your face in a way that was more of a slap and turned to stare at the gloom settling into the pines outside the window. 

“He has a way about him I suppose.”

“I think you should call him,” she blurted, offering you a hit off the purple kush, but you waved her off. “If only to figure out the Daria mystery.”

“Oh yeah? Just call him? Just like that? Oh, hey Eddie I know it’s been almost three decades, but what’s new?”

“I mean, sounds legit to me.”

Remember those rainy days, Squirrel? Remember…

You tossed and turned early the next morning, reaching for your phone to scroll and help push away intrusive thoughts.  How many things you’d fucked up, how many friends you’d lost to time and death and sloppy choices.

Maybe not all was lost…

Seattle, early 1990’s

“My lady is here with us tonight,” Eddie rumbled into the mic, gesturing to you from where he stood on that rickety old stage in front of a rowdy crowd at The Crocodile Cafe. Alice in Chains had played there, as well as Mother Love Bone and Mudhoney, back before they were household names. “This next one's for her.”

From your seat at the bar, you locked eyes with him, beaming with pride, but also shaking your head. “I hate you,” mouthing the words made his dimpled grin grow wider.

“Betty Spaghetti…. My beautiful Aquarius twin.”

The ink on your matching Aquarius glyph tattoos were still covered in Aquaphor that night.  You’d spent the past two weeks trying to figure out how this chatty Indiana boy had managed to become a permanent fixture in your life. 

“I don’t want anything serious,” you’d said into his mouth while your hands were all over each other in the dive bar bathroom the first time you met. Bonding over booze, blow, and the shared trauma of losing a parent, you recognized that emptiness mirrored in each other and wanted to fill it.  

“Cool, neither do I,” he mumbled, shoving his jeans down his hips.  

But he’d been lying through his teeth, and he confessed that to you a month later down on the wharf, handing over a little squirrel made of shells from the pocket of his leather jacket. He’d been sneaky and bought it at Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, a place the two of you liked to go to visit the mummified remains of a dude named Sylvester. 

There was no major foundation for giving him the nickname Squirrel, one day it just happened.  He was on the couch in his boxers, stoned out of his gourd, shoveling pretzels into his mouth at such a manic rate that his cheeks looked like they were about to burst.  

“So, you knew I was the one back then? In a dark bar after 8 shots?” 

He looped his arm with yours as you walked. “Uh-huh, still do,” he leaned in closer. “Still do.”

At that moment, during those days, you worried that you wouldn’t be able to breathe without him. You were both so young, too young to fully comprehend the impact of that time in your life in later years, or what a trauma bond even was.

But then the day came that you’d come to realize would always arrive for you eventually, and that was the time to move on: to other experiences, other people. 

You didn’t know at the time that it could be done any other way, and so you made a real mess of things. 

He made several attempts to get in touch with you, including the time years later when he found out from your mom that you were in rehab.  He wrote to you, but you never wrote back, never returned his calls.  

He wasn’t trying to stir up the old flames or get back together; by then, that ship had sailed, and the Eddie Munson you knew never stayed single for long.  But he did want you to know that you weren’t alone, that you would always have a friend in him. That he’d meant it when he said he’d always care about you.

Returning to the current reality, you chewed at your thumbnail, staring at the phone number Shelby had written down for you on a yellow legal pad.  How she’d managed to get a hold of Eddie Munson’s private cell number, you’d never know.  

You were about to end the call after the second ring, flustered, thinking it would be better to send a text, when just then—- he answered. 

Eddie recognized the area code, but never thought in a million years that it would be…

“H-hey Squirrel, it’s me.”

Dead silence made your heart flop.  Maybe you should say it’s a wrong number, maybe this was a mistake.  What if he considered you a lost love, but he no longer wanted anything to do with you? He did cover up the tattoo, after all.  

“Well, well, if it isn’t my Betty Fuckin’ Spaghetti,” you could hear the joy in his voice, could hear his wide smile cracking into seasoned laugh lines.  “I’ve missed the shit outta you.”

Peculiar children[edit]

Asa Butterfield as Jake Portman, a 16-year-old American teenager and Abe's grandson. He visits Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and is given, by Miss Peregrine, the task/promise of protecting the children. Like his grandfather, Jake has the ability to see the invisible Hollows.

Butterfield also portrays Mr. Barron's disguise as Jake[9]

VERSE: UNTIL DAWN

This verse mostly involves my younger muses (18-20 range). You can read their verse information below the cut.

NEEDY LESNICKI: Needy drifted away from the rest of the group after the incident. She latched onto her childhood best friend, Jennifer, and tried to put the past behind her. She doesn't want to return to the lodge. However, her friendship with Jennifer has begun to feel toxic, and her guilt around the situation gets the better of her. She decides that some time away might do her some good. She's still fairly close to Ashley (for Ashley writers who are open to this connection).

SIDNEY PRASAD: Sidney experienced her own tragedy just one year before the tragedy at the lodge, so the experience hit her like a ton of bricks. She felt and still feels horrible for Josh. She can't relate to losing a sibling (she's an only child), but she knows what it's like to lose a close relative. When she receives the invite, she accepts almost immediately, hoping that this will give Josh a chance to heal.

TARA CARPENTER: Tara refused to talk about what happened at the lodge after the fact. She didn't go to therapy. She didn't talk about it with any of her friends, whether they were there or not, and she didn't talk about it with her family. In fact, any time her older sister Sam tried to bring it up, she shut the conversation down. When Josh sends her the invite, she immediately decides not to go. However, Sam finds out about it and eventually talks her into it. She's hesitant about the whole thing, but she decides that maybe it's time to face up to the past.

HEATHER NILL: Heather's life wasn't easy before the lodge and it sucked even more afterwards. Her mother stole the money she saved up for her first semester of college, and she feels like her life is going to go nowhere. She can't really afford the weekend away, but her best friend says he'll cover any expenses if she really wants to go. She eventually takes him up on that offer, promising to pay him back as soon as she can even though he insists she doesn't have to.

NANCY WHEELER: Nancy carries the guilt from one year ago around like a suit of armor. It weighs her down, but she refuses to let anything else through. She's built compartments in her mind to keep everything nice and tidy and organized. She's difficult to get close to, even amongst those who were there, and she balks at the idea of returning at first. But she can't shake the itch that something more is going on, and her investigative nature won't let her rest when she has the chance to return and figure out what really happened to Beth and Hannah.

WILLOW ROSENBERG: **Individual plotting required! It's hard for me to picture Willow as a part of the initial trip, but I'm very much down to plot with anyone who's interested.

ALICE WOODWARD: Alice didn't love the idea of the prank, but she isn't one to rock the boat, so she didn't say anything. Arguing with Emilie sometimes felt like a death sentence, and Alice wasn't interested in facing her maker just yet. She regrets her decision not to speak up every single day. She accepts Josh's invite after a little bit of deliberation. This seems important to him, and she wants to be there. Not to mention, she and her girlfriend just broke up. She could use a small getaway.

ELENA GILBERT: If Elena hadn't gone on the trip, she likely would have been in the accident that took her parents away from her and her siblings. She feels tons of guilt around both scenarios. Now, she struggles with the idea of returning to the lodge. She's finally starting to feel like herself again, but she worries that all of the negative thoughts and feelings will bubble right back up to the surface if she goes. Still, she can't just say no. Josh seems so excited.

Before he could get so much as a peep out, Ashley chimed in from her spot on a nearby armchair, her legs curled up beneath her and a paperback folded in her hands. “Yeah, actually I had the same question. I think you should do another take just to, like, clarify.”

The camera had been turned off, and thank God for that, because while he couldn’t say with any certainty what kind of look he was rocking at just that moment, Josh knew enough about himself to understand it wasn’t the sort of face he wanted preserved on his harddrive forever and ever amen. In one jerky motion - hopefully enough to drive home the point that he would not be doing another take, thanks very much - he pulled it from off of its tripod and turned to face them. “Clarify,” he repeated, voice flat. “You need me to clarify what I meant by saying - ”

“We’re going to party like we’re fucking porn stars,” Chris finished for him. His phone made a cheery little noise at that. “Yeah. I mean. Maybe? I don’t think Matt or Jess’ll stop when they hear that, but Emily’s kind of a hardass, know what I mean? I feel like she’d text you back trying to pick it all apart like one of those trick questions on the SATs.” Without looking away from his game, he pitched his voice up into an awful, droning valley girl whine, no doubt meant to be an impression of Emily: “Ummm...look, I don’t know who you think you’re talking to, but I am like, sooo not interested in some juvenile little boy-girl makeout party, sooooooooo...”

“By phrasing it like that, ‘party like we’re fucking porn stars,’ you aren’t really giving anyone enough context to, um, understand the purpose ‘fucking’ is serving in the sentence, y’know?” Ashley, at least, had the decency enough to look up from her book as she told him (not in quite so many words) that he was a moron. “Is it a verb? Or an adjective? Because while both are bad, I still think one’s preferable to the other...like...okay, I guess I don’t know...how one would party as if they were having sex with a porn star, is what I’m getting at. Like, is that a good thing?”

The urge to sit down and hold his head in his hands was quelled only by the fact that he didn’t want to set his camera down where either of these idiots could potentially break it. That was the only thing keeping it from happening. “Guess it depends on the porn star, Ash,” he said instead, letting his eyes roll up and up and up towards the vaulted ceiling of the lodge’s main room. “Gotta imagine some of them enjoy the game more than others.”

“Okay, but also? Then the other option, partying like we, ourselves, are the porn stars. That’s not a great image, I guess. But more than that, like, are you insinuating this is going to be some kind of orgy? Because if you are, I mean, Mike’s gonna RSVP, no question, but the others probably won’t, so...”

“Yeah, and if I’m gonna be attending a weekend-long orgy, I’d really prefer one without Mike. Y’know, if at all possible.”

For the first time since drawing up the idea (though not, he suspected, the last) Josh found himself wondering why oh why he’d thought it a good idea to include these two in his revenge plot. He could’ve, he reflected, just done it his own damn self; no one would’ve been around to take a red pen to each of his sinister machinations. As it was, he’d saddled himself with the dork patrol for better or worse.

“I’m not doing another take,” he said decisively, choosing to ignore both of their scoffs. “We’re going to party like we’re fucking porn stars, and that’s fucking final. Now get off your asses - we’ve got pigs to string up in the basement.”

Pink Goes Good With Green (Alex Morgan x Reader)

Request: R is famous but not part of the USWNT (what kind of famous is up to you) and one day she goes to watch a practice before kissing Alex. The rest of the team comment about how Alex got the pretty one?

Eight shows a week was a killer. It made long-distance particularly difficult because you were either always on stage or in a makeup chair getting greenified. But you freaking loved your job, just as much as Alex loved hers. Being Elphaba was a dream come true. Like, you-had-literally-been-dreaming-about-this-since-middle-school, dream come true. 

But even with that, finally getting a day off so you would watch your amazing girlfriend practice was a godsend. You knew you had permission to get into USWNT practice whenever, and with the team having a game so close, so you decided to hop on a quick train to Jersey to surprise Alex during practice. Getting into the stadium was nerve-wracking, you never felt comfortable in large crowds unless you were on stage, but getting an up-close view of the love of your life in her element had made the haste worth it. You pulled out your phone and a roll of Halloween Oreos to munch on. Sweet OZ, your girlfriend looked hot in that blue kit, and her signature pink pre-wrap. 

The nice part of being Elphaba was that no one recognized you without the makeup. I mean, there were occasional fans who knew you from other shows like Phantom or Mean Girls, but recognizing you without your various wigs and period getups was incredibly rare. So now, with your relative obscurity, you could watch Alex on the field, and snap a few photos. You got one with a Snapchat filter, where she was covered in bubbles. You were sure your castmate Kara would have be proud of its Galindaeyness. A few strokes of a blue paintbrush to give her a puffy skirt and you added the caption “Found the Glinda to my Elphaba.”

“Hey Alex, looks like you’ve got some paparazzi in the stadium.” Kelley nudged Alex at the water break, tilting her head in your direction. She was the only one who knew about your relationship, the two of you wanting to keep it quiet for now. 

“What?” Alex looked up in your direction and saw you. You quickly saved the Snapchat picture you took and sent it to her. When you looked up she had run over to your side of the seats and was leaning over the rail to grin at you. 

“Fancy meeting you here stranger, fly here on a broom?” She asked, pulling you into a hug. 

“Well, we can’t all come and go by bubble. I took New Jersey Transit. I could have flown but you know how it is,” you shrugged, feeling facetious, “Parking’s always a nightmare.”

“Hmm, tough show last night?” Alex asked laughing as she leaned up to kiss your lips. You quirked your eyebrow at her. Last night had been a fantastic show. Oliver had been your Fyero and you got to meet his boyfriend after and have some drinks. “What?” You asked, tilting your head to the side adorably. 

“You got a little green right,” Alex leaned further forward to brush the underside of your cheekbone, right below your ear, with the back of her fingers, “there.” You froze at her touch, unable to find the words to speak. It was taking your brain a hot second to think after the softness of her touch. That might have been the sexiest thing that had happened to you in months. Distance sucked.

“I promise I showered. Twice,” you blurted out, once the loading symbol in your brain had stopped turning. You wanted to make a good impression on her teammates, and you had left a smudge of green on your face. People underestimated how hard that shit was to get off. 

“Hey Morgan, you gonna introduce us to the girl before you eat her face or do we have to wait till you’re done?” Ashlyn yelled, interrupting your moment, causing a deep blush to settle on your cheeks. Ali elbowed her wife and rolled her eyes. “Ignore her Alex, you can introduce us to your pretty girl after you’re finished,” 

“Ohhh now this is cute. Look at her Snapchat!” You looked over to see someone holding up Alex’s phone showing off what was unmistakably the photo you had sent her a minute ago. The rest of the team gathered around to look at the small screen. 

“Who is that and how does she know your phone password? It’s like, 15 numbers long,” You said staring out at the swarm. You thought you heard Ashley wolf-whistled as she got close enough to see the screen.

“That’s Emily. She’s basically the Fyero of the team. Just dancing through life,” Alex said, rolling her eyes and waving her arms similarly to the choreography of the song. You sobered at the reference. 

“But… Fyero gets the girl in the end…” You mumbled, glancing warily at the blond woman showing off your girlfriend’s phone. You 

“Yeah, maybe that’s a bad analogy. I will be very disappointed if you dump me for her. And plus, For Good is the real love song in that story,” Alex shrugged, pulling you back in for a hug. You cliched her tightly as she started to hum the harmony to your favorite line. You would always wonder how a smol theatre baby had scored an amazing woman like her. 

“Careful. For good sounds an awful lot like the beginning of a proposal.” You laughed into her ear. 

“When I propose, it won’t be with a Wicked reference,” Alex said sincerely.

You smiled back, glad you weren’t fated to be separated like the character you played on stage. You would always love Alex, and she would always love you… green paint and all.
