From New Leaf onwards, Isabelle is a special NPC character in the series who first acted as your assistant when you are Mayor. This kind of role doesn't really change as games go along. Granted more of her background information is fed to us in tidbits. However it doesn't change the fact she is popular in her own right.

Apperance wise she is recognizable, no doubt about that. With her bell like head, friendly smile, her buck tooth and her general attire which she is usually wearing something with a skirt. Though her original new leaf apperance was lacking any shoes before. As seen here.

Though an interesting thing to note is her outfit will change a bit during the seasons. Trying to fit with the changing temperature despite being a fuzzy puppy herself.

As for my experience with her in the games. She was honestly a pretty welcoming sight. Just a general fuzzball of positivity and support. Granted it took some more time for her to be on a similar level that I placed Ankha. I always found her sunny disposition...and some hilarity in her dialogue to uplift my spirits.

As for background information about her. There was ton's to find in the game. Usually drip fed to you based on what other villagers say about her. Also some NPC's like her brother reveal some interesting info about her. Throughout my research the most bizzare I have discovered was her Brother mentioning she graduated from nineteen different universities in Engineering. To which I am not sure how that is possible. Though it would explain how capable she is as your assistant. Of course if you treat the 'many sisters' in different towns as Canon then that is probably the reason why. Despite her implied intellgence she is still has some silly moments. Like chewing on shoes, being a bit forgetful, has yet to fully unpack in her house, hates confrontations, scary when angry and well being the lovable pup she is.

She won me over in the long run and well this runs into my depiction of her in my stories. I did run with the fact she has a crush on the Mayor. In this case being Nacho, but I always imagined her starting off on that to grow as a better and stronger person. Using the her admiration for the man who ran the town to improve as a person. Come into her own so to speak.

Granted it didn't start until the second story, but after that I made sure she gets her fair share of character growth. Being a kind, compassionate, kinda shy puppy to a more determined and ready to tackle problems that went beyond being assistant to a mayor. Which I like to think I accomplished that. Because to me she deserves it for her determination. Though hilariously I decided to put her in a poly relationship with Ankha and Nacho. Mostly because at the time I couldn't decide between the two. So I decided to F it and went that route. Which works since she is bisexual here. Which is pretty accurate to her crush on the Mayor regardless of biological sex. Though that was as far as I was going to take it. No anime level harem here.

Backstory wise she pretty much remains mostly untouched with the games. There is still more about it not fully explored like her parents or early childhood. However I did give an explanation for what I call the Isa-clones in other towns. Being a result of a science fair project gone wrong. Resulting in more of her running around. Despite this knowledge I have yet to ever bring them up in the main story. That and the council of Isabelles. Boy can you imagine the family reunions?

Physique wise is the most funky process I had of figuring out. Firstly, she is anthro like Ankha and other animal folks. Though not the same blend as Ankha. She is also 5'5" and slightly chubby...also curvy as well. I will admit the internet affected by decision making process in making Isabelle a sort of short stack. Though I always imagine her to be kinda short is because of her Shih Tzu dog breed. Which is a toy dog size. Her physique does improve as the stories go along. Her getting a bit more fit but still having a bit of chub (because I just think it's cute with her). She sort of ends up being pretty strong in her own right. At least until the current story to which by then she is on a even playing field with the stuff going on. Compared to Ankha more agile body, Isabelle is definitely more tanky if you catch my drift.

Story significance, she is definitely important being one of the anchors that keeps Nacho in check later. Not to mention having a higher position power in the current story. Helping with her growth to stand out on her own. Though there are times I feel like I could do more with her. I never truly know because I am the one writing and having to figure these things out. But I like to think I am doing well for the most part.

Villager Hunting Trip 2 pt.1

^reminds me of Supernatural, when Dean's telling Sam that "Dad's on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days" in season 1.

I have 20k bells, 20 NMT and a little amount of hope. I'm giving myself a limit of 20 NMT, so if I haven't found one of the few villagers I want, I must take the 20th villager.

My island has a theme and to fit that theme, I'm looking for Ankha, Bill, Chevre, Deirdre, Frobert, Peanut, Raymond and Static. I already have Sherb who's also a part of the theme.

Realistically, I'm gonna have to get real lucky to get Ankha and Raymond because there are so many different cats in the game that it's not likely that I'll get either of them very quickly.

Nonetheless, the hunt begins...

The first island and it's a spiral island! -_- reminds me of level 19 in Stardew Valley's mines. Snake was there and he freaks me out a lil bit not gonna lie.

The second island was a big pond island and Sly was there. There's a theme occurring in this hunt, I can already tell. Before I left I caught a Whale Shark on the dock!

The third island was pretty boring, though it did have both a fossil spot and a recipe in a bottle. Midge was there and she was cute but not what I'm looking for.

The fourth island was a mundane river island and had Sheldon on it. There's nothing really else to add about this island, it kinda sucked.

The fifth island was a money island! Rio was there too, she seemed pretty fun but I left her behind (desculpe Brasil!)

The sixth island was another river island with Naomi on it. There was nothing else to it other than a recipe in a bottle. Naomi freaked me out a lil, her colour palette is very bright.

The seventh island was a waterfall island with Erik on it! I was really tempted to take Erik because of his catchphrase being 'Chow down' (reminded me of a certain bald streamer's "Clown down")

The eighth island was another money island and Gayle was there.

Ninth island was another waterfall island with Phil on the second level. I forgot to take a photo for this island.

The tenth island was a mountain island with Deena at the top.

“Wow, four facts? That’s quite a few but let me see what I can do here…”

1. She is one of the go-to people in her community for animal rescue. Whether it’s an injured animal, an abandoned pet, or baby animals without a family, she and her twin sister are often called to foster, re-home or emergency transport. She or her sister would be called since the local shelter can’t take the animal in or the people know that my mun and her sister can promise that the animal is safe until a home is found. This is something they have done for years.

They have emergency vet from the city and wildlife rescue as their contacts and keep supplies in their car in case a transport is needed. All wild animals are transported to the wildlife rescue and rehab that’s over an hour away. The girls would drive them there while proving basic support care. Even when it’s 2 am, if there’s a call for help, they are out the door in minutes. Sometimes, Cher also gets calls online and she provides resources to help that person and the animals in need.

2. All her pets are rescues. Two of her cats, Blue and Harley, were “rez kitties” meaning they were homeless cats from a reservation where her family lived on. Ankha was one of the 8 kittens she fostered last summer. The remaining 7 kittens were rehomed. Togo was a puppy belonging to a family who couldn’t care for him, and Mocha was a homeless dog who was almost brought to the pound until Cher stepped in.

3. She used to have a pet crayfish named Tobjorn. He came with the name. He was a baby when he was captured in a live trap while my mun was a research assistant for one of her professors. He was a lab pet until the end of the study and Cher accepted to take him in. He stayed with and the people loved to say hi when they visited for study sessions.

4. Cher is not the best at some subjects but acted as a tutor for biochemistry which was a long distance class. Her classmates struggled with the professor not wanting to help, so my mun would have people come to her on-campus apartment and spend nights filling out study guides and having questions answered. Because of her, the class passed. She also tutored anatomy and physiology II. People who came over enjoyed visiting Torb, too.

This is why I used to keep all kinds of old things, tickets and maps and brochures and so on, from trips I took when I was younger. So I could remember them better and have moments like this. But I eventually learned that I'd either be able to remember the events without those things, or I'd forget them even with those things. There's something deeply sad about finding a map of all the buses with their schedules for a city and having no memory of the day you got it.

Anyway, I'm glad Ankha had a good time dancing her heart out when she found her old concert ticket, but also, I kind of hope she threw it out.

does your island have a theme? and who are your dream villagers??

no overall theme really! but I have a few plans for different sections. for example there's going to be a farm in the top left, a woodsy area in the top center, a recreational/campground area in the top right, and a water/mini island area in the bottom right.

my only dream villagers really are julian and peanut. I had julian on my last island (and I Think in new leaf too?) and I like him a lot. very gay man to me, and I feel bad for deleting his save. peanut was my favorite villager in my city folk save in middle school, and I haven't found her in a game since but I still feel like she's my friend and I want her back </3. she moved away while I still played city folk actively and that was a SAD day.

some other villagers I don't really Need, but still really want at some point are chester, joey, curt, ankha, savannah, and stinky. again these are all villagers I had in city folk that I liked a lot.

Her thumbs slowly smear identical lines of black ash down the war deity's face. It is inexplicable. It is everything.

This moment would not last forever, nor this reunification. The laws of their nature dictated it so. Still, they could hold one another and breathe while the fire roared. They could stand here in each other's company before somebody realized that they were missing.

Eleventh island was a normal with Hugh, the fact that his eyes are two different colours is cool but not cool enough for Isla Rosa.

Twelfth island was basic with just trees. Grizzly was there, very lumberjack looking with his plaid shirt.

Thirteenth island had Leonardo the Tiger.

Fourteenth island had Bubbles and was another mountain. Just like the previous couple, I left immediately.

Jambette was on the fifteenth island, there was nothing special about that island, just a pretty big river.

My island's sister fruit (oranges) island had Lyman inhabiting it. This is the sixteenth island and I'm losing hope :].

Friga was on the mountainous seventeenth island.

I think that the game's trying to tell me something with Erik's reappearance on this eighteenth mountain tree island. I think that I'm gonna end today's hunt here by inviting him to Isla Rosa. He may not fit the island but I can't wait to get his villager picture.

☮ Do you have any pets?, ♦ What is your favorite book and why?

[I have several. I got two dogs named Togo and Mocha. I also have a few cats: Blue, Harley, and Ankha. I also look after a few cats who belonged to a neighbor before they moved away without their cats. These are Peaches, Salem, and Binx.

I adopted them and two others who were left behind in my yard too, which are Tiger Cat and Smokey Joe. These cats not only get food and water but also treats, attention, vet care, and in the cold months, they spend their time in the heated shelters I set up. But because of competition, I brought in Peaches, Binx, and Salem. I'm having the house worked so they can have space along with their wall shelves, condos, etc.

I do what I can for them. All the animals I have are rescues and they each have a story. Things were rough before I found them but they are safe now.

As for books, One book I like is "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down" by Ann Fadiman. It is a book on the true story of a Hmong family who had a daughter who suffered from severe seizures. There was conflict between this girl's family and the doctors because of the family's beliefs and the doctors' cultural incompetence. This was a book I read when I took cultural competence in healthcare for my master's degree. Not only did reading the book open my eyes but also led me to make choices in my research and career.

I work as an epidemiologist specializing in infectious diseases, but I also did studies in cultural competence and humility, which are desperately needed in medicine and public health. I'm currently working on my third degree in Indigenous health. I am also Native American and from my own experiences and studies, the health disparities we face stem from generations of trauma and cultural incompetence.

This book was an example of how cultural incompetence does grave harm and how including cultures and communities can prevent these tragedies. We as healthcare professionals and researchers must see the communities, especially in underserved populations, as partners and leaders in improving healthcare and resolving the disparities.

I've seen this dialogue lots of times, so I thought that maybe if I approached Ankha and spoke with her first, she'd be the one to start the conversation between herself and Dom.

But no. That's not what happened. Instead, Dom spoke first, and they acted out this tongue twister conversation yet again. So I'm not sure if there's actually a way to influence who speaks first, or if this IS how it works: you speak with Ankha, it means Dom speaks first.

This is the kind of thing I wish there were easily-found guides for. There probably are guides for it. I just haven't seen them.
