Abusing my birthday to talk about all the Burnt bread fics in the fandom yeehaw

(This is a preview for my next fic recs post btw lmao- hopefully it's out by april)

There aren't too many of these, excluding my own fics ofc, most of them are on ao3 so that's where all but 4 will be coming from. All are in order of release!

Starting with the sfw fics:

Written in Fine Print » by philosonica- Chapter 1/ Misunderstanding- 10/10. Fun fact, this fic got me SHIPPING these two goobers in the first place. Its a more introspective piece following Aran and his internal monologue thinking about how he struggles to get along with the other boxers and esp his one-sided crush/fascination with Joe. Its such well written angst and has informed some of my own writing by now. It hurt my heart so bad I wanted Aran to have a happy ending and Joe fall in love with him dhdbdb. It also hits close to home with my own personal struggles of socializing. Aran's also a bit of a weirdo asshole here, it made me cringe and squirm and I love it.

The Best in the Worst by gorebot/That-artsy-virgo- 8/10. This is a fic on ao3 under the "Punch out oneshots" name and on DA as it's own fic. It's an extremely cute high-school au (I believe) that follows Aran and Joe having a meet cute at a party and running from the cops. Aside from some minor spelling mistakes it's a cute little crumb of a fic and a charming read.

One Mistake by gorebot/That-artsy-virgo- 7/10. From the same ao3 fic as the previous and also on DA. It's a nice angsty oneshot following Joe finding out Aran is trans and trying to be supportive all while Aran is deeply upset. Overall cute! Some points subtracted because of odd wording/spelling that pulled me from the story but again still very nice!

Just a Sketchy Guy by Virdemption- 9/10. This one is honestly way too funny for its own good. From hinting that Kaiser got Joe into homestuck to Aran's shipping jokes it's VERY funny. At the same time it's an extremely cute look into Joe and Aran bonding over silly art. Shit like this makes me giggle ♡.

Act Out! by JesterrDraws- 6.5/10. An actor/filming au for punch out. The burnt bread here is very mild, only appearing in 3 chapters, and hasn't yet peeked into Aran's mind so it gets a lower rating. However the moments there are cute as hell! It mostly focuses on Joe having a little crush and Aran flirting a bit but still sweet and pleasant, I hope the op continues soon!

Punch Out Imagines, One-Shots, ETC by GoEatDoorMoss-

Secret admirer- 8.5/10. A cute oneshot I requested a while back and Matt did a fantastic job with the prompt! It changed what I asked for a little but in a way I was pleasantly surprised with! It follows Joe looking for a secret admirer leaving gifts in his locker week after week. Despite a few bits of clunky wording it's a very very cute story that I reread quite a few times a year.

The Claw- 10/10. Another request of mine on Matt's book. This one is longer and much cuter than the last as it follows Aran and Joe going on a date and encountering shenanigans. Its funny and sweet and a strong jump in quality from the previous fic! It also has art to go along with it so I had to give it extra points.

A Cheater's Reason (WIP) by K1TT3N69- 7/10. A fic with seriously good potential here!! It follows Aran and his life as a cheater until his mother passes. Its currently unfinished but still quite interesting imho! I adore the concept and the hints set up but it's very hard to read due to lack of formatting.

The Potluck by Tonitheloftwing- 8.5/10. Fun fic with a chapter dedicated to burnt bread!! It's mostly about mac recovering from top surgery and coming out to the other boxers but the hints at other ships and the burnt bread confession chapter was cute as hell.

a blue jean serenade by CobbleCritters- 10/10. While this is a mostly don/tiger centric fic it does feature burnt bread and boy howdy it does their relationship well! It's a cool little band au that has Aran as a drummer and Joe as a photographer. Their already in a relationship and we get to see cute moments of affection alongside hard lows between them. Its a really great and complex representation!!

Le Draguer by FauxFoe_Punch- 9.5/10. Its a bit hard to say what the fic is about since it's still unfinished, but it's a Burnt bread semi-slowburn! It's not only very very funny (made me laugh every chapter) but it's incredibly sweet and well written. So many of the lines and descriptions are beautifully absurd, i can't pick a favorite. The only complaint I have is that the chapter cutoffs feel off but otherwise a great fic i highly recommend!

Glass Cafe by Globofchaos- 6.5/10. Very cool concept of Joe joining an mma ring thanks to Mac and Aran. It has a lot of cool ideas like a Narcis and Joe rivalry, Mac being disabled, Joe being freshly immigrated. Cool stuff! It has a lot of formatting and spelling issues though so it's hard to read. But I'm excited to see where the story goes!

Never gonna change by Globofchaos- 7/10. Another super interesting concept, this time with glass Joe suddenly getting stronger and more intimidating. First chapter is very negative with Aran being casually mean, Joe being heartbroken, and the bruisers bullying Joe, though it does look up later in the chapter. The second chapter focuses on disco and don which was fun! It's still hard to read due to formatting and spelling errors but I'm interested to where this one would go too!

A sudden change by Globofchaos- 8/10. Only one chapter, i think it's meant to be a companion piece to 'never gonna change or perhaps the third chapter? Idk. Either way it felt much cleaner, half focusing on mac and Aran's sister talking about Joe and the last section having Aran propose a date. Cute and I'm excited to see more!

Smutty fics under the cut!!

Gap Year by BarginBin- 8/10. This fic is so cute (and horny lmao). It follows Joe taking Aran in after he's kicked out and taking a gap year in Paris together, Joe manages to get fat and they get horny about it. Fun read if ur into that stuff!

L’Oiseau D’Eau by Jacksfilmsgavememegalophobia- 10/10. This bad boy is about Aran and Joe getting stuck in traffic and Joe pissing himself, romantic and sexual tension ensue. As one comment so beautifully put it 'I never thought a fic about glass Joe pissing himself could be so beautifully written'- amen. Seriously it's very unhorny (For now) but it gets the kink across wonderfully and I highly recommend to those who like this sort of thing.

French Berry Press by YourLocalGarbageSkunkXOXO- 8/10. Joe turns into a Blueberry after eating a muffin and him and Aran fuck about it. What more can I say? This is just good, Kinky, fun tbh. It honestly makes me kick my feet and giggle not necessarily because it's full of jokes but because the premise is very silly and funny. The style all around is well written and sweet, the sex especially is fun! Has formatting issues and can be hard to read but not too bad.

That one wattpad fic that stole my works and others- 0/10. Ngl I'm still bitter abt this one. I won't share it's name since the plagiristic parts have been removed but I'm still so mad how the person not only stole my work but then tried to recton the shit they stole to make it not t4t and in an intersexist way too. The fic has stopped updating since I told them off and chewed them out on ao3 but it still hurt enough that I hid my work for a time.

Irish-French Rodeo by Anonymous- 10/10. Its literally just Joe being Tommy and eating Aran out. Its so fucking sexy and fun I love it to bits. Its got that perfect balance of descriptions, humor, and sexyiness that I can't get enough of. This is the quality I want out of my own work.

i know a lot of you guys have been wondering wtf is up with my upload schedule lately and the extreme lack of even basic content and also i am extremely aware that i have not updated my fics in a few millennia and for that i am very, very sorry. this post is to answer a few questions you might have, if anyone was curious about the 'reason' instead of just the 'when.'

my family and i have had a hell of a year, y'all. like, jesus christ, i really hope things level out and calm down for a while once we're moved in to our new apartment bc god damn we are so tired. the list goes: 1. we got kicked out of the house we were renting-to-own bc we wouldn't be able to afford the new rate, so they gave us two months to find a new place to live (not long enough, it turns out) and then foreclosed to get us out. 75% of our belongings were still in the house when we had to leave. that includes all of our christmas ornaments- including the ones kept for decades, and the ones made by me and my siblings, and the fancy ones made from blown glass. 2. the first night out of the house, one of our dogs, freaked out by the strangeness of the situation, panicked and slipped her harness and ran off. that was over a year ago. we haven't seen her since. 3. my cat got very ill and became unable to eat. she passed away almost exactly a year ago. she had been 14-15, and had been my baby since i was maybe 8. 4. one of the tires on my dads car blew out. during the night, while it was parked on the curb so he could put the spare on in the morning, one of the in-tact tires was fucking stolen LMAO 5. we applied to rent at so many places and got rejected so, so many times. it costs money to apply, btw. we're talking like $200+. no, u don't get that money back. 6. i lost my job bc knowing i would have to work 8 hours at a job that stresses me out to the point of exhaustion (at a place where no one takes me seriously and would actively laugh at me when i try to express my need to step away for a minute) sometimes paralyzed me and made me sick to my stomach and made me feel unable to leave the house, and i called out one too many times. a day after my birthday, too! 7. just recently, like within the last week, my dad's car got fuckin totalled!!!!!

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE OFFICIALLY, FINALLY, AFTER A SOLID YEAR, HAVE AN APARTMENT!!!!! I'LL HAVE MY OWN ROOM AGAIN!!! THERE'S AN ENTIRE KITCHEN!!!!!!!

the 'oh god' news is we still have to move in, and replace a lot of the stuff that we just couldn't take with us when we moved out (mostly stuff like bookshelves, dining table, dressers, etc) AND get the few things we could cram into a storage center out and moved into the new place, which isn't a lot but at the same time is more than we can realistically handle on our own. and then, we have to get my mums cats (a pair of kitty sisters that we had to temporarily house with my aunt, who got tired of looking after them and let them outside to be outdoor cats a few months ago. yes, this was an extremely shitty thing to do, and we've been working hard to get them back safely) AND my gecko (who my cousin has been looking after, even tho feeding him worms freaks him out LMAO yes i plan on compensating him) moved in, as well... basically oh my god there is so much to worry about but at the same time it's nice to have to worry about it bc it means we're making progress sdkfhsjdkfhdsjfh

basically i am just so tired but so busy and also thinkin abt so much im so sorry for lack of stuff but i am so looking forward to being able to bounce back, pls stick with me, it'll be sorted out soon i think and then i'll hit y'all with some good stuff i promise!!!!!!!

This is a very rough, temp timeline for FFAK. It mostly covers events that have already happened or at least have been mentioned. I dont really cover anything that is happening in the present day timeline lol. I might make edits to this in case i fucked up in places or maybe ill just do a totally new one at some point! you dont even know how messy my actual one is like my god its an ever worse horrible clusterfuck of text. (Also remember, the ffak story has no time travel so dont be worried about that sort of mindfuckery!) enjoy

Years before 1414: Whenever was 600 million years ago i dont want to do the exact math: Evil Mother is born but shes not called that at all cuz she adopts that name later in life but just know she is here and readt to party Lots of stuff happens. like idk. evolution and life. 600 mil years is a long time ok -LALALA -HUMANS AT SOME POINT COME TO BEING.and form civilization and.. all that -modern human society exist! ppl have tvs and such. -Mandragora Worms have gone ‘extinct’!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ooooo -??????????? a ton of other stuff. isnt history cool?? kicks legs, yells -mysterious worm break outs all over dmtia. bombs fall. wars. despair!  -Grant Lumberman gets a doggy at some point and loves it but then it dies and so does his family and friends and his whole city he is relocated to the Auseklis moon colony (on Dmtia’s moon!) along w/ other Vena Cavian kiddos !!!! Years 1416-1425 ?????????????? (most events likely will be mostly covered in a prequel series.) YEAR 1420: Crosshatch Unit first programmed/built by Randall/Rembrandt Aiguille leadman and evil mother fall in lurv at some point

YEAR 1426 Miracle Baby Crimson is Born (From Good Leadman/Evil Mother worm fuck action yeehaw)

YEAR 1427 -Crimson’s 2 eyes are removed + Evil Mother Believes they are dead and leaves Leadman to work with Tricend -Canary is Born (From Evil Mother, and a King Worm) -Hekatons are made (From The King worm that made Canary, concept of Hekatons is from Evil Mother) -July 8th: Perkons Hatches and will not let anyone near the other 4 eggs!! stay away

YEAR 1428 - Good Leadman (Age 27) and Perkons (6 months old) Meet (Happens in Jan) (Multiple scenes in ch10, continued in Ch11) Perkons turns 1 in July. -Perkons gets a hold of 1 of Crimson’s eyes at some point, turns it into a Knife.

YEAR 1429 - Perkons turns 2 in july and is a fully matured adult. Rest of the 4 hekatons eggs hatch sometime after in that year. -Dievas assumes protective guardian role for his siblings.  -Dievas meets Aeschylus. (ch11) YEAR 1430 Perkons turns 3. The rest of the first hekatons are one. During this year they mature to an adult. YEAR 1431 Lauma meets Velns, who is imprisoned. Then shortly after, Perkons confronts Lauma, she is 2, he is 4. So It took place after July 1431. He transforms the 2nd crimson eye into a Spoon in front of her.

Years 1431-1448 (specific dates not all disclosed sry): -Velns/Lauma, Dievas/Laima begin making children. baby baby baby! YEAR 1438 - Crimson (Age 11) is eaten by a Hydragora Queen worm - loosing her human body in the process but gaining a worm one instead. -Crimson runs around in a destroyed city, holding a corpse. Meets Velns who taunts them. -Lauma and Dievas make up, and have their first nest together- a Batch of A/B hybrid eggs. -Lauma is killed by Perkons -Velns is killed by Perkons (Which was also on Dmtia’s Moon, so the moon is destroyed.) -Laima is “killed” by Perkons. (Actually survived, as part of Dievas’ plan.) -Perkons confronts Dievas with the Crosshatch Unit and mention they fight for Peace and under the “Thumb” alliance. Perkons kills Dievas. (scene in ch11) -Laima escapes with A/B Eggs, as well as other hekaton eggs. (and will later form the Ghost Kingdom, which she rules as queen.) ????? many other things happen????? these were some busy years folks

YEAR 1449 -Crimson meets a Helper, Galore the Hekaton, and a Bunny worm (who will later grow up to be agent Paper) in the forests of DMTIA (Ch9) -Galore “meets" her first parents, Lauma and Velns, in some mysterious coma dream thing from listening to crims sexy magical heartbeat (also Ch9) ??????????more events happen??????????? -Galore “Dies” by exploding. Crimson witnesses it. -Bunny wormed named Cirrus “Dies” and is buried in a grave. However, she was only injured she later climbs out only to witness Crimson and Celadon leave in Crimson’s truck and it was the saddest thing ive had to draw ok. i am crying even remembering it ??????????more secret events this was yet another busy and traumatizing year for crimson????????????? -Months later, Crimson (age 23) has a conversation with her third mandragora heart, and ends up having a period sex masterbate-y fantasy that made many readers scream in terror when they read it.(Ch11)

Years 1450-1904 god so much stuff happens during this time, lays on the ground. i mean just fucking look at how much time that is. thats over 450 years lol nbd right

YEAR 1905 -Agent Knife is sent on a remote mission (back to Planet Dmtia) to hunt down one of thumbs most wanted criminals, a man named “SIMON MCGOLD” -After months of searching/failed attempts at locating him, Knife confronts and is stung by Simon’s close personal bodyguard, a queen worm named Nail who is famous for killing over 50,000 Hekatons. (Gaining him the nickname “Hekaton Hunter.” (CH12) -?????????? more stuff happens like you dont even know????????

Years 1906-1924 ??????????? lots of stuff??????? lets laugh at some spoon stuff together tho -Spoon thinks Knife is stupid but weirdly interesting i guess -Spoon tries to pretend hes not in love w/ knife cuz thats like??? g...ay??? -Spoon realizes he’s totally hot for Knife and decides hes gonna totally seduce him -Spoon realizes flirting isnt going well with knife and is actually rly deeply hurt by rejection and so he tries to sleep around w/ other ppl  to pretend hes fine cuz w/e!! who cares -Spoon realizes hes totally in love w/ Knife and is devastated by Deeply Gay emotions -Spoon moves in w/ Knife and spoon tries to pretend he is fine w/ just being Knife’s obsessively devotedly loyal but not romantic/sexual partner. just ttly... platonic.. best dude pals..!!! who murder together -Spoon realizes he cannot handle just being friends and attempts to move out cuz he just is having a meltdown -Knifes like chill we’re already dating and Spoon is like “wtf we are?” and knife’s like “why else would i let you move in w/ me” and spoon just stares at a wall for like 12 hrs in shock -They start to officially for real date™ after spoon regains contact with reality -???????stuff??????? -Spoon dresses up as AGENT BEE!!!!!!!!!!!! THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENT IN ALL OF HISTORY HANDS DOWN MARK UR CALENDARS 

YEAR 1925 July 8th - Simon (now Agent Spoon) has been in a relationship with Knife for 20 years. He meets Celadon #1. Location is the forests on the moon THUMB HQ. who is rightfully pissed as fuck at him. kick his ass, girl (she does btw) (ch11)

YEAR 1926 -Knife Adopts a tiny perfect adorable fluffball c-type and names him Kurt. -Spoon hates it like more than anything ever -Spoon and Knife end up having to live separately, causing a huge strain in their relationship.

Years 1927-1936 -feeling neglected, Spoon starts to sleep around, including the Crosshatch unit and becomes p close friends w/ them! its actually a positive thing for once. wtf (ch11) -Kurt becomes Agent Fork and works alongside Agent Knife on missions and its adorable and great but knife’s depression is also growing bc he misses spoon

YEAR 1937 Cash Leadman is born! :D

YEAR 1938 Rome Aiguille is born! he doesnt even hate worms at this point! Years 1939-1955 more stuff. ect. 

YEAR 1956 -Locket confronts Knife. Knife is so traumatized from meeting a surprise biological child that he has a meltdown and vanishes. he is then believed to have died. -Spoon Explodes from sadness of the news, but does not die. Half of him leaves to Cash Leadman’s house, who convinces him to keep living. He becomes “Scissor”, using her former crosshatch robot body. (ch11) -The other half meets Locket and has his Spoon stolen from him. very sads. Also cant wear thongs anymore (ch11)

YEAR 1957 -At some point during this year, Spoon kills Agent Rock’s dad and also prevents Fork from being able to enter Wibbleworld (his dream). (Scene in ch8) -Fork goes back to prison (guess what, it wasnt his first time goin’ there!) 

YEAR 1958-present -the death of rock’s hot dad springs a chain reaction of all his sons trying to kill spoon and getting revenge. Spoon successfully kills them all though lmfao. dont fuck with the leg.  -fork breaks up with dollop and she starts stalking him

YEAR 1961 -Dylan and Agent Knife meet in Wibbleworld moon, on July 8th (his birthday) He reveals secrets to her. (ch11) -Dylan/Celadon and Antony believe they are successful at killing Agent Knife on this same day.

YEAR 1962 -Feb 2 - Aeschylus wakes up in LEVEL K of the Crosshatch Colony (The Aiguille Moon) and is escorted by Antony Aiguille (Age 21) and Celadon #1, #2 and #3. Dylan and Barfy show up. (Ch 11) -Dylan tries to convince Antony not to get eaten (and fails) (ch12) -March - A mysterious earthquake and worm outbreak kills 20,000 residents in the Crosshatch Colony. O_O  -July 7th - Fork meets Dylan for the first time. :3 (Another serving episode one!) -July 8th: This is where the present timeline begins! Canary wakes up on a platform. Hooray! we made it. i dont feel like typing out the events u can just read the comic i guess lol. farts! 

YEAR 1963: Hasnt actually happened yet, but the final feast is said to occur this year!!!!!!! O_O ooo  EDIT: one of the events were out of order, but this has been fixed (8/19/2017)

Four fandoms that have piqued your interest?

Fruits Basket has me in a vice grip and won't let go. It makes me angry sometimes but I adore it and think it is a masterpiece even if it's thematically and charachter wise shot in the foot sometimes. Not only my special interest and something I have an immense emotional connection to BUT ALSO I have a connected special interest in one of the characters specifically so strong in gets to be it's own thing. I will die in this hole.

Revolutionary Girl Utena babey!!! My other fave late 90's shoujo about magical metaphors for cycles of power and abuse. It's aged better than Furuba and generally handles its content and story really well. It may be my second fave but as a weird little gay that cares more about themes and meaning than plot I jive with it a lot. Listen it's a story about gender and corrupt systems and breaking cycles of abuse with flower symbolism and lesbians, this shit was tailor made for me. Anthy is my love and Utenthy are my fave messy sapphics and I like the ending actually.

I have been in the void of pain that is Houseki no Kuni for years. I have not had a constructive thought about it in ages and am just watching it in fascination. I will probably become active in fandom again when I know how it ends. I mained cairnphos before the reveal and Phos is my fave so you can imagine how I'm doing.

Tangled the Series is good actually. Cassandra is a lesbian and Disney accidentally made one of the best sapphic ships ever in a princess spinoff made for little kids. Mean sword lady hot.

How has the pandemic been treating you? 

Currently stuck in a survival mode where I'm just resigned and remain as productive as possible to avoid spiraling. I really want to see people and go places again but I've actually befriended most of my online friends since March so that's a bonus.

People from Twitter know this but I'm actually mixed Blackfoot (Native American that is). A lot of people don't guess it or don't believe me because I'm pretty white passing but I've grown up around the culture and it's a big part of my identity. I'm hoping that I'll get to learn more now I'm 18 because there was like this weird pact made that I had to be raised Catholic until adulthood (didn't work btw, I fought it for years and finally mostly got out at age 16.)

Is there something people need to know about you before becoming friends? 

I have a hard time messaging first I need explicit permission or a really good opportunity, but I love to get to know people! Also I have trouble knowing if ppl regard me as friends online and I have gone on 2 hour long monologues about my fave trashfire mean ladies before and will do so again if accidentally prompted.
