Like Old Times The longer I played, the stronger was the feeling that Jesse just got tired of everything. She seemed much happier when she didn't have this burden of being the Big Hero and the Protector of her city and was just "a strange girl with a pig". At least in my playthrough. The sheer amount of traumatic events throughout both seasons probably contributed to that.
For me, the ending where she stays in Beacontown is the best, even if it isn't as happy as the other one. First, I love bitter sweet endings. Second, the main idea of the season is how we should move forward and stop clinging onto the past. We let Petra go. We give her the opportunity to process her own feelings and attachments to the things she loves and used to. So we do with Jesse.
By staying in the city she did so much for, Jesse takes the responsibility at the cost of all the fun she used to have with her friends. It always felt like all she really wanted was to be recognised and have cool adventures, not all the complicated stuff that came with being the one who saved a lot of people multiple times. And now, with that being all she has, it would be natural to want to go back to how things used to be. When life was easier and she always had someone by her side, without the need constantly choose between someone.
Honestly, I was never really fond of Reuben, but the idea of him being sort of the embodiment of how Jesse used to live before the whole Wither Storm made me like him more. Because the moment he dies, things get to the point of no return. So it literally will never be as good old times since the key part of it is no longer here.
Thank you for coming to my overanalysis session!

Stuck
For @dancing-through-the-daydreams‘s DS9 request “how about Quark, Garak and Odo locked in the DS9 equivalent of like a broom cupboard or something and being squished and their consequent reactions at being stuck together in a small space.”
(ficlet and sketches below the cut!)

So, I’m currently working on a Lazytown animation that’ll hopefully be done within the next month or so, but I also really wanted to draw some DS9 fanart again. So I asked for a few DS9 requests over on my main blog, and one of the three lovely prompts I got was the one above :D
At first, I wasn’t all sure about where to get the boys stuck, but then I remembered season 1′s “The Forsaken” where Odo gets stuck in the turbo lift with Lwaxana Troi, and the decision wasn’t really hard after that.
This prompt also screamed ficlet!!!! so- here we go ^^ (You can also reblog the ficlet on its own over here, btw! ^-^)

Odo had sighted Quark near the docking rings for reasons yet unknown to him, but he was sure he would soon enough find out.
He led the protesting Ferengi (with just that hint of fear in his eyes that told Odo that his hunch had been right about Quark being up to something) toward the turbo lift, nodding at the station’s Cardassian tailor already standing inside, who responded with a light bow of the head, when the lift came to a stop.
The lift had been moving again for mere seconds, when it came to an abrupt halt.
Never letting his eyes of Quark, Odo calmly informed Chief O’Brien of the issue, who promised to promptly see to it. He thought he heard Garak letting out the lowest of sighs, but was uncertain how to read it.
After almost half an hour of being caught in the lift together, all three of them were already on edge:
Odo was more than aware that his 16-hour circle in solid form was coming to an end rather soon, Quark was starting to panic for reasons unknown to him (probably because he was losing precious minutes he could spend elsewise, making profit), and Garak... The tailor sat in the corner of the turbo lift, back against the cold wall and legs pulled up against his chest, sewing.
Odo wasn’t even sure where Garak had produced the old-fashioned needle and the medium-sized piece of cloth from, but then again, the Cardassian often was a mystery even to him.
Just a minute or two after Odo had started reverting into a more and more dripping form of his solid self, having resigned himself to having to rest in his gelatinous state on the floor of the turbo lift, he heard Garak cough ever so politely but also pointedly. “May I perhaps offer this as an alternative resting place until the Chief frees us from this most unfortunate situation?”
As he looked down, he saw Garak holding up the result of his short sewing session: a bag of sorts, not exactly big as the piece Garak had produced from wherever had not been big to start with, but just big enough for him to comfortably rest in whilst he had to remain in his non-solid form for the next couple of hours.
Odo was unsure how to respond to the unexpected gesture, and settled on uttering a “thanks, Garak” as he locked eyes with the Cardassian, then concentrated on letting his now quickly non-solid self rest in the bag that Garak had set on the floor of the lift after showing it to him.
A few minutes later, the lift came back to life, and only a few seconds later, Quark could be seen quickly shaking Miles O’Brien’s hand before hurrying off toward the Promenade, whilst Garak picked up the bag with the non-solid constable and, after a brief nod toward Chief O’Brien, made his way over to the brig to drop Odo off. Hoping we would be spared from being stuck in small spaces ever again (but being more than aware of his bad luck in that regard), he made his way over to the replimat where the dear doctor would be waiting already.

(Note that I have watched S1, 2, and (most of) 6 so far (the latter because I started out watching DS9 when the 6th season was repeated on TV last summer), and whilst I’ve seen plenty of spoilers already, there might be minor inconsistencies here. (From all I know, Odo gets his own quarters in S3, and Garak’s claustrophobia is also only revealed later on (?), so I suppose this would take place this sometime around S2. ^^ )

Furthermore, here are some sketches I made before setting to drawing the actual thing that you can see above. Especially the one in the top left corner was quite helpful figuring out how I wanted the final drawing to look like (see bottom left corner).

As a last note- while this was originally meant to be a sketch/doodle only, I was already of some sort of back story whilst making the sketches above. And well. Ended up with a ficlet idea, as well as the idea for the final drawing on my hands. I recently grew a liking for inking and coloring sketches with Copics again (it’s been a while), and I usually refrain from combining Copics and colored pencils when I can avoid it, but. Yeah.
This is the result of about 4 1/2 h of work. Hope y’all like it! 😊
