Ashfur followed Jaypaw worriedly. He never wished harm on Squirrelflight's kits, even though he still had feelings for her. On the other hand, Brambleclaw would take a swipe at any of the three of them and would be disappointed if they got up. Jaypaw raised his nose to the air, and caught a whiff of his brother's scent. He was near.

"This way."

Ashfur followed Jaypaw. Sometimes he wished that Jaypaw was his apprentice instead of Brightheart's. Ashfur knew that he could still be close to the apprentices, both now and when they become warriors. Hopefully, Ashfur wouldn't lose them too, like he lost his parents. He had always wanted revenge on Bone and Tigerstar, but they were already gone. Plus, he stood no chance unless he was a leader, and the cat that Firestar would choose for deputy next would be Brambleclaw due to his connection to Tigerstar. But Ashfur would defend Ravenwing with his life. After all, his sister's mate was Dustpelt, who is the brother of that nice deputy. Ravenwing was a good friend of his, and if Brambleclaw or someone else ever tried to kill him, then he would have to get through Ashfur first.

Ashfur looked up. His eyes narrowed when he saw Lionpaw. He could hardly believe it. Was Jaypaw thinking the same way?

"There's no way that Lionpaw is..." Jaypaw silenced him. He knew why, if Lionpaw heard them, he would probably attack, and Heatherpaw would run. He wouldn't report him to the clan, if he really loved her then it could be the four's secret, but when he looked at Jaypaw, he knew that there was no way he agreed.
