Wordcount: 4.9k

“Darling? The dinner is finished, don’t you want to come with me?”
“I’ve got no time, need to read.”
Taehyung studies your form. Your posture is terrible. Squatting on the floor with dozens and dozens of books surrounding you and your back hunched over. The room smells of too little oxygen and burned down candles.
“Darling. The dinner is finished”, Taehyung repeats himself.
“And I told you, leave me alone!” you scream at him, but Taehyung doesn’t budge.
“___ please come with me and eat something”, he tries in a soft voice.
“I can’t”, you insist, “can’t you see? I have so much to read.”
“The reading isn’t going to go anywhere.”
“Yes, yes it will. I have to finish this.”
“Come now, let’s eat something”, Taehyung tries only to get one of the books thrown at him.
“Get out!”
He catches it before it can hit his chest, letting out a worried sigh afterwards.
“___ sweetest”, he tries, setting the book down on one of the countless desks. They were all bending under the weight of too many books and trinkets. He steps over the circle of books and squats down next to you, “let’s get you something to eat, please.”
“Why can’t you listen?” you hiss, flinching when you feel his touch on your arm.
“Because I care about you and I want you to be healthy.”
“I’m okay.”
“No you are not, you haven’t had breakfast nor lunch and I can’t allow you to miss out on dinner as well.”
“I’ll eat later.”
“___ please.”
“No. Leave.”
“___ I’m serious. Come with me or I’ll start using force.”
“I’ll give you an aneurism if you try.”
Taehyung sighs in defeat.
“Please, come with me”, he says softly, caressing your arm.
“I can’t”, you spit, looking at him with your bloodshot, tired eyes, “it’s been two months and I can’t slack now. I have to figure it out. All of it. What happened back then, why he is in such a state and how I can fucking fix it.”
“And you will”, Taehyung intertwines his fingers with you, “we will, but right now your mission is to get food into your system and energy back to your brain.”
“Leave me alone. This is your last warning.”
“Boss?”
Taehyung turns upon hearing the deep voice behind them. Your head snaps to the tall man in the library.
“What?” you hiss, sounding irritated.
“My group and I did the rounds as you asked. The forest’s cleared out for now”, Fredrick says.
Taehyung feels you relax at Fredrick’s words.
“Good. How many did you meet?” you ask the big vampire.
“Five. They were remotely younger than me.”
“Good. They’re taken care of?”
“Of course."
“Good. And the west fields?”
“Fringella didn’t return yet.”
“She’s slow.”
“She’s got lots to take care of. Her group ran into a dozen of his followers.”
“Mhm. Send some of your people for aid and return to your posts.”
“Yes, boss”, Fredrick says and studies your books, “any…” he hesitates, licks his lips, “any progress?”
“Soon.”
“Understood”, Fredrick says and turns to leave.
“Fredrick?” you stop him.
“Yes, boss?”
“Tell Fringella to get her act together. She’s slacking.”
“I will.”
“Good. Leave.”
“Understood.”
Fredrick leaves the library and won’t be seen for the rest of the night. He and his closest followers have been guarding the estate ever since that happened. Namjoon’s followers are stubborn and more than willing to start an attempt of freeing their leader. With him not here, the estate would be too dangerous. Fredrick agreed to stand guard instantly. Fringella agreed once her husband did. She calls you boss these days and takes orders from you.
“Fucking shitshow”, you murmur, burying yourself back in your books.
Taehyung studies your features with furrowed brows. He runs the back of his hand down the side of your face even if that makes your features scrunch up in distaste.
“Please come with me and eat something”, he whispers.
“I’ll eat later.”
“Please ___.”
You stay silent. Taehyung already knows what that means. You won’t budge no matter how much talking he does. You have made up your mind. The library is your place to stay and nobody, not even Taehyung, can change that.
He gives up with a sigh.
“Fine”, he says sadly, standing up, “then stay.”
And with that he abandons you in your madness, leaving your mind just as quickly as he had entered it. You don’t even hear the door close and later the door to the sitting room. You also don’t hear the roaring of thunder as the forecasted storm finally starts. You see the lightning. It flashes over the yellowed pages in a bluish hurry, leaving behind blurry figures in your vision. You blink, getting rid of them this way and focusing your gaze back on the letters. It must be in here somewhere. The answer to all of this.
Tumblr media
Taehyung returns with a tray of food. He eyes you. You look even more hunched over than you did when he left you.
“Darling, look”, he says, placing the tray on the desk by the windows, “I brought you food. Hoseok made sure that it is warm.”
“Why can’t you listen?”
“And why can’t you? I just want to make sure that you don’t faint.”
You lift nothing but your eyes, looking at him. The worry is almost eating him up, you can see it weigh down his shoulders.
With a loud sigh you sit back on your heels, finally lifting your head.
“Can you help me translate some passages?” you ask him, “I don’t know what they mean.”
“Yes, I can. But only if you eat as I work.”
“Fine. I will eat.”
Taehyung stays with you for the rest of the day. He translates unknown passages to you, makes sure that you eat and he lets you sleep with your head rested on his thigh once you pass out in exhaustion. He carries you to bed that night. He tugs you in and holds you to make sure that all those nightmares stay away from you. He wakes up empty handed the next day and he knows that he will find you hidden somewhere in your books. And he begins his routine anew. Cook food, get rejected until he somehow manages to convince you to eat. It pains him that it became a routine these days.
Tumblr media
You shove the big, black keys back into your pockets. They jingle as you do so, soon getting muffled by the fabric. It reeks of old cellar down here and the very faint stench of ammoniac. It guides your way, just as the torches do as they flicker on one by one the moment you pass by them.
You know that much these days.
Quite frankly, you know a lot of things these days. You know how to light a fire with just a flicker of thought, you know how to give someone an aneurism or how to make their lungs cramp up, you also know how to grow plants with just a touch of your fingers and how to put up barrier spells.
You know a lot of things these days. You can destroy, protect, nurture and heal. But one thing you can’t fucking do. And it is the one thing you want to do more than anything else.
“Good day”, you say loudly as you enter the round room.
Groaning greets you.
“Yeah, yeah shut up. I know you guys are hungry”, you mumble, “if you’re being good, maybe I’ll feed you tonight.”
“Let us go, witch”, one of them hisses at you.
“No? Who do you think I am? You guys are useful.”
You finally turn, scanning your eyes over the room.
Fuck, to think that you once begged for your life in that room. Thinking back, you were so innocent. And weak. Nobody could get you to beg so pathetically again these days. Especially not Namjoon.
You bite down your anger and swallow it harshly, making your way to the chained up vampires at the east end of the room.
“Come with me”, you grumble, grabbing a woman by her neck and dragging her away from the others. The chains open with a flick of your wrist, but she can’t escape. Not when you dig your fingers into her body with a dark spell.
“Let me go”, she protests, “we didn’t do anything to you.”
“Now, that’s where you’re wrong. You see? You assholes served Namjoon.”
You press her into the chair where once upon a time, Namjoon had you captured.
“Stay”, you order her, forcing her limps to stay unmoving with just a look. You wrap chains around her wrists and ankles, sealing them into obedience with a mumble of the right spell.
“Let me go”, she spits, tugging and fighting the enchanted ropes fruitlessly.
You ignore her, gathering the tools from the desk.
“I learned a new spell today. It sounds promising. You’ll be my little rabbit”, you tell the vampire, “I can’t promise you that it won’t hurt though. So sorry about that”, you look at her over your shoulder, “not really though.”
“You’re a fucking psycho.”
You ignore her. You have better things to do. Such as grind up wood as finely as possible.
“Once we’re breaking out of here, you’ll regret ever keeping us captive.”
“The only way you guys are leaving this shithole is by dying.”
“She’s crazy.”
“Hush”, you warn, silencing the other vampires with just a snap of your fingers. They try and fail to make a sound, opening and closing their useless mouths, “better. Now, back to you. Sarah, am I right?”
“As if I’m going to tell you my name.”
“Fine, then you’re Sarah from now”, you decide for her, grabbing her chin, “you may wonder why you and your friends are here instead of your cells. You know, the problem is, I can’t take too many of you guys at the same time. They’ll find out otherwise.”
“Awww, are your babysitters not allowing you to play hard to get?”
“You’re impossible. Have you not realised the fucking situation yet? You are either going to leave this cell and I have my antidote or you are going to die, so shut up and listen before I decide to kill you without even trying.”
Sarah bares you her teeth, growling deeply.
“Now you see. I can’t take too many of you guys because the others will give me a lecture all about how I can’t experiment on you guys and all that good person shit”, you roll your eyes, “stupid if you ask me. You guys would never leave this cellar one way or the other. If you dry out in your cells or die because of me makes no difference. You won’t see sunlight again either way.”
“What the hell is your problem?”
“My problem is you and your awful leader taking things you weren’t supposed to take.”
“I’m telling you, once Namjoon gets wind that you are keeping us here, he will come and rescue us and you will die the most painful death imaginable.”
“Good luck with that. Your great leader has been rotting in a cell for two months now. You think you have any kind of power left? Every single one of your ill-minded friends is either dead or rotting in our cells.”
“You’re lying. Superior will never die.”
“Superior died when you decided to fucking push my buttons”, you spit, pushing her head back roughly.
“What the hell did you do, witch?”
“I told you. You little rats are either captured or dead. And you guys”, you look through the room with a bright smile, “you guys are now my little rats and you will help me solve the probably most difficult riddle I have ever had to solve. How do I fucking safe him?”
“What are you talking about? You make no sense.”
“I make perfect sense. You know what doesn’t make sense? Saving your dying boyfriend by blasting light brighter than the sun out of your own fucking body and covering his entire body in a glowing layer of magic that stops the poison but also puts him into an unbreakable coma. Now that”, you laugh crazily, pointing your finger at her, “that shit doesn’t make sense. Especially when you lived twenty five fucking years of your life thinking that vampires and magic aren’t real only to find out that you are an actual fucking witch after you saved your dying vampire boyfriend through magic.”
You lower your finger.
“But did I really safe him? Mhm? Because last time I checked he isn’t fucking here with me and his lungs are still filled with this cursed goddamn wood. So in a way, all my magic didn’t do shit except pause the inevitable. I don’t even know if the magic is safe or if it will wear off sooner or later. Because I have no fucking idea what I actually did! Hah!”
You laugh loudly.
“Isn’t that hilarious? Every single day could be the day where that stupid glow stops glowing and he wakes up only to die screaming and crying black fucking blood. And that, ohohoho that”, you push her head back so hard she almost falls with the chair. You catch her, slamming your hands on the armrests, “I can’t let that happen.”
“What the hell? I have no idea what you are saying. Why are we captured then? We had nothing to do with it.”
“Now you see, that’s where you are wrong. You guys kissed Kim Namjoon’s ass and that’s enough to make me hate you. And you see”, you step closer again, towering over her with your eyes dark in anger, “Kim Namjoon is the reason why my boyfriend is in this fun, little coma. Because Kim fucking Namjoon was the one who cursed him and you little rats are going to be my ticket to saving my boyfriend.”
“You’re sick.”
“No, he’s sick! Because of your awful leader, he is sick! Holy fuck, we talked about our future the day it happened. He finally accepted that he didn’t want to die but live life with me. We wanted to be happy together. We were supposed to spend our days in peace, talk, go on adventures together and hold each other and Kim Namjoon took all of that from us”, you hiss, squeezing her cheeks so tightly that she hisses in pain, “I have to heal him and you know damn well that I’m not going to test out the spell on him, I’m not crazy. But I have you”, you smile, “and I can test out whatever I want on you. If I fail? Hell, one less Superior poisoning the earth. If I don’t? I finally get my boyfriend back. It’s a win win, I would say. Now open up.”
“No”, she hisses, pressing her lips closed.
“Open up, fuck”, you order coldly, forcing your fingers into her mouth to break open her jaw. She fights and fights only to lose in the end.
You blow the grinded up wood at her, forcing her lungs to inhale it with a mumble of the right spell. Her eyes widen, she begins gagging and coughing instantly.
You straighten up, watching her writhe and squirm just how Yoongi did all those nights ago. The view still makes your stomach twist, not because you feel pity for the monsters you experiment on, but because it keeps the image of Yoongi fighting for his life fresh and vivid.
Black blood spills from her lips, her eyes become black from all the blood bursting her veins.
Now it is time to work. You begin chanting the words you learned today, holding the candle the spell told you to hold. It smells like rotten fish and taints your palm dark blue. If the spell is successful the candle should light up by itself and the wood should dissolve inside of her.
But none of those things happen. The candle stays unlit and the vampire screams her last death call, slacking in the chair afterwards.
“Fuck!” you scream, throwing the candle against the wall right above the heads of the other vampires.
They stare at you in horror, watching with panic as their friend is turning into dust on the chair
“Why didn’t it fucking work?!” you scream, kicking the now empty chair to the ground, “it should have worked! Fuck!”
The captured vampires cower away in fear. They want to make a sound, but can’t as their voices are still stolen.
“Argh!” you roar, whipping around with madness in your gaze, “you”, you point at the scared vampires.
You flick your wrist.
Their voices return.
“Please don’t hurt us, please”, one of them begs with tears in his eyes.
“We never liked Namjoon”, another says.
“Yeah, yeah that’s what they all say”, you dismiss them, “fuck”, you hiss, making them flinch.
You kick the chair one last time, inhaling deeply afterwards.
“Okay calm down. It’s okay. You’ll just try the next spell”, you tell yourself.
You turn to the vampires, making them cower away.
“We’ll see each other again soon. Here”, you tell them, throwing a blood bag at them, “I can’t have you drying out. You need to be at your best. Share it.”
You turn off all the torches and leave the room, locking the door with a barrier spell. So now nobody can enter or leave. You can’t have those fuckers inside escape, just as much as you can’t have the others stumbling into the room. Not yet at least. Not when you are so close to finding the antidote. You can’t risk them finding out.
You let the torches die out behind you, hurrying down the labyrinth of secret tunnels. You have them memorised these days. You can remember the first time you dared to set foot into them. How scared you were. You were a fool. The only thing which should be scared down here should be the shadows and what they hide.
You open the heavy metal gate and lock it with the black keys. Yoongi’s words are still in the back of your mind. Don’t ever touch those keys. You feel awful for having broken that promise to him, but you had to.
The estate’s cellar is too close and the others know all the rooms in it too well. You couldn’t test out the spells so close to where they could listen in. The round room was the only solution. Far enough away from the estate, soundproofed by Namjoon and with all the tools you need to keep vampires captured.
The irony of the entire situation you try to ignore. One of Kim Namjoon’s awful possessions is helping you in finding a way in healing Yoongi from the thing Namjoon is responsible for. The irony tastes bitter on your tongue, but you don’t mind anymore. All you taste these days is bitterness.
You seal the gate with a barrier spell, stuffing the keys back into your pockets afterwards.
“Let’s leave”, you murmur and in big steps, you hurry out of the cellar.
Tumblr media
The hallways are empty, but you know that the others are home. Jungkook and Hoseok are in the gym, you know that they are because hip-hop music is echoing through the estate. You are grateful for the music. It muffles the squeaking of the cellar door and later your steps as you hurry to your wing.
Taehyung is probably painting in his wing. He’s been helpful with your search for a cure. They all were, but Taehyung helped the most. He translated Yoongi’s spell books for you and spent many restless nights with you in the library, looking for the right spells. He deserves to rest for once and do things which he enjoys doing.
Jungkook is still living in his wing, working hard on finishing the renovations between helping you with saving Yoongi. He cries a lot and there was a time where you joined him, but not anymore. You can’t waste time crying. You have to focus on saving Yoongi.
Hoseok is living in Seokjin’s apartment these days. Jungkook stays over some nights when being close to a comatose Yoongi hurts too much. Hoseok is at the estate on most days however, because he is lonely all alone in a big house.
Seokjin and Emma went back to her cottage in Gordes, hence why Hoseok is living alone. They send regular messages with updates on their life and findings about a possible cure. They’re happy, but worry a lot.
You shower in your wing that night. The water is cold at first before it warms up. You don’t really feel a difference. Well, you do, but it doesn’t really affect you anymore. Cold, warm, hot. It all feels the same to you. It’s best this way. Like this, you won’t get distracted by your mind wandering to how uncomfortable certain sensations are on your skin. You can’t get distracted like this, you have to stay focused on the task at hand.
Saving Yoongi.
This is all that matters.
You have to save Yoongi.
You leave your wing after the shower and after you put on some clothes. Normally you would have used the calm hours to check up on the greenhouse, but that seems like a waste of time these days. And it hurts. Whenever you are in the greenhouse you think about the first day you spent in it. You think about how Yoongi was the one to show it to you because he wanted to cheer you up, how he prepared breakfast for you and how utterly clumsy he was in showing his feelings. And when you don’t think about this heartbreaking memory you think about the time you and he wandered through it in his memories. You think about the flower crowns you made and how pretty he looked with his yellow sweater and lively features.
And that memory hurts just as much as the first one does.
“Oh? Hey there, ___.”
You meet Hoseok and Jungkook on the hallways. They are both shirtless and sweaty, clearly having returned from the gym.
“Hey”, you greet them.
“Did you eat already?” Hoseok asks you.
“I’m not hungry.”
“Of course you are, I haven’t seen you eat anything today.”
“I ate. I’m fine”, you dismiss him, brushing past them afterwards.
“Hey ___!” Jungkook calls after you, “have you found anything?”
“Would I be still alone if I did?”
“No, I- no sorry, I guess you wouldn’t.”
“Tch.”
You leave them in the hallways, taking the next corner. You won’t find out what they will do or where they will go and quite frankly, you don’t care. You can’t waste time spending time with them, you have to be somewhere.
Tumblr media
The door is loud as it falls into its lock. You wonder if the others heard you, but if they did, they don’t react.
His wing is dark like always. You had no time to change the light bulbs and neither did he. Obviously, because he couldn’t enjoy being home alive and well for long.
You don’t dwell on that thought for too long, just as you don’t try to look at his untouched piano as you pass it by.
You stop.
Perhaps trying isn’t enough. At least not tonight. Not when another failure sits heavy on your shoulder.
It feels like ages ago where you tiptoed into his room and apologised to him for being a reckless idiot. You think ten months must have passed since then. Maybe even eleven. If you knew back then, you would have sat on his lap longer, you would have kissed him deeper and you wouldn’t have pushed him away. If you knew, you would have pulled him closer and let the feelings, you so clearly had for him, consume you.
“Fuck”, you press out, turning your head away for looking at the empty, dusty piano aches too much.
You force your legs to work again and continue your path. It is not far anymore.
The door opens quietly.
“Hey there, my love. I’m just here to check up on you for the night.”
The door closes quietly.
The fireplace is still burning. Good. That means that he was warm and cozy throughout the day. It is important that he stays warm these days, with the first snow so close to reach.
With your breath trembling, you hurry to the bed.
He looks just as you have left him this morning.
“How are you?”
You cup his cheek. It feels cold to the touch. His skin is still too pale.
“I guess, you are as you always are”, you lower your head, “shit.”
You step closer to the bed.
“Shit Yoongi, I don’t know for how long I can still do this. I’m trying so hard and yet nothing works. This was the fifteenth spell I tried and it still wasn’t the right one. I can’t do this anymore.”
You scoff.
“It’s awful isn’t it? Fifteen tries. Which means…which means I killed fifteen people. Well, they were Namjoon’s friends, but they were still people. Fifteen. Sixteen if we count in Suzy. Fuck.”
You scoff again.
“Do you remember how traumatised I was after I killed her? How I refused to talk for days and barely even ate? And all the nightmares plaguing me afterwards? Yeah, well”, you falter for a moment, looking at the dark sky outside, “I don’t feel anything these days, just anger and disappointment. And the only-”, your eyes burn, “-the only nightmares I have are of you screaming like that. That’s all I’m dreaming about. How, how you screamed and how I screamed and then this white light. How?”
You look at him.
“How did I do this? Why did I do this? What did I create? Are you even here with me still or did, did this spell preserve your corpse? Have I been talking to-”, you whimper, reaching for his cold cheeks, “Yoongi, please don’t be dead. You wanted to live, didn’t you? So please don’t be dead. Please”, you beg him, falling silent afterwards.
You hate how peaceful he almost looks. You changed him out of his dirty clothes, washed him and tugged him in so he could be warm. His face you cleaned as well and then you closed his eyes, so he would look as if he was simply sleeping.
And he does. He looks as if he was just sleeping.
You hate this.
“Your hair is a little messy. Don’t worry, I won’t cut it. I’ll just clean it up real quick”, you say and begin brushing your fingers through his hair. It is so soft. Even after months of lying in the same position, it is still so soft.
You hate this. His face is still pretty, his hair is still soft, his body still looks healthy. He looks fine and yet he isn’t. You hate how much of a lie his appearance is, how your spell has frozen him in a time where he was still fine and you have to look at him day by day and wonder if you will ever be able to heal him. The deep grey of his skin looks like silver to you these days. The others don’t believe you when you tell them, but it is silver. Just like it is when moonlight shines upon him. It is silver. Not grey. He is still fine.
“There you go”, you press out painfully, caressing his cheek, “now you’re looking handsome again.”
You step back. You should leave him to rest for tonight and return to your research. You know what you should do and yet you can’t. Not tonight you can’t. Not tonight.
“Yoongi, I don’t know what to do”, your voice quivered as you spoke, “I need you. You always knew what to say or what to do. I mean, I’m a fucking witch.”
You laugh painfully, sitting down on the bed next to him.
“I’m an actual witch. I, I can make stuff fly or appear and with, with just a thought I could give you guys the worst headache imaginable. But, but…but I don’t know what to do”, you press out and sob, “Yoongi, I need your advice. I don’t know how to be a witch. None of the others know what to do, because they were never witches in the first place. They try to help, but can’t. I need you. You could teach me so much. I mean, you were a bloody warlock once and now…” you sob softly, intertwining your fingers with him, “...please come back, Yoongi.”
You rest your cheek on his hand, soiling his skin with your tears.
“I’m so scared. What if I’ll never find a cure?”
You sink in on yourself, resting your cheek on his chest. It is unmoving, just as the rest of his body.
“I know now how you felt when you couldn’t capture Namjoon. I’m failing you so much”, you press out, hiding your face in his chest, “you have done so much for me and I can’t even do one thing for you. I just want to heal you, but I can’t. Why can’t I? Why?!”
You halt.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t yell. I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry”, you choke out and truly break.
You were so sure that you couldn’t cry anymore. Not anymore and not these days. Not when you spilled so many tears already and you still have a cure to find. But you were wrong. Just as you were wrong about those fifteen spells. As always lately, you were wrong.
“Yoongi, please come back to me”, you beg.
You fall asleep in his bed that night. You pass out after too many spilled tears and too many sleepless nights. And as you fall into unconsciousness, you hold him, not letting go once.

The Rise, The Fall
Chapter 5: Good Demons, Bad Demons
Chapter Summary:
“Your taste in movies is shit.”
“Hey, that was uncalled for!” Hyejin defended from the other part of the kitchen.
“Hahahahahaha, gotchya,” Haru beamed, satisfied with having annoyed him, “I used to be obsessed with it as a teen, and just recently realized how shit it is.”
“Well, I liked it. It’s decent. I would go and join the fandom, for the sake of having at least watched and enjoyed it,” Hyejin defended her own taste this time.
“You know what this means?” Haru said.
“It means you’re seriously emotionally-deprived and have no interest in the area of romance, if you’ve enjoyed this piece of garbage, that is,” Jeongguk answered without queue.
~this is smut
Tumblr media
They were in fact, a ‘Twilight.’
There was no doubting it. Dark colored clothes, tall-ass teenage-looking people, fair skin, and expensive cars. It was the worst B-grade supernatural fiction Jeongguk had ever watched. It catered to the fantasy of young girls and left no space to imagine with the most mundane vampires ever.
And, the worst part of it all was…
They were, in fact, a Twilight.
Jeongguk regretted having seen the movie at all. He wasn’t actually going to watch it before, but it piqued his curiosity anyway. He’d just glimpsed through a few parts because it was lying innocently in his study room. Just a few frames of the movie had made him anxious and annoyed.
The characters barely had any character, were all fucking aloof-ass cunts and only cared about themselves and their romantic interest.
Haru had spent the last two days sharing her favorite works of media with Hyejin. He’d overheard some strings of media like Harry Potter, Blade Runner, iCarly, and more.
“I was going to say something similar. But you sound more like an asshole when you say it,” Haru laughed, with all her stomach this time while Hyejin blushed in agony.
Haru was suddenly taken away, staring off into the distance. There was no way Jeongguk was inexperienced with romance. He must’ve had his fair share of gorgeous women; which went well with their apparent profile of mystery and wealth.
“You guys are so mean, and all while you were the one who lent this ‘garbage’!” Hyejin pointed an accusatory finger at Haru, “Besides you both have no experience in the field of romance either so go laugh somewhere else.”
There was a sudden silence as Haru and Jeongguk exchanged glances.
Did romance exist in the demon world? Haru couldn’t help her curiosity anymore; she had to know. There was no way, no way that Jeongguk had no romantic experiences. He was literally a walking, talking Twilight waiting to happen.
Consequently, the topic was changed.
“Give me short-”
“You can’t change the topic when I’m no longer the butt of the joke-”
“books. You know, the ones around 100 to 150 pages that make you go ‘huh.’
“Huh? After you called my taste in movies ‘garbage’? If you’re seriously up to it, I’ll get you a list from one of my friends who reads a lot. I’m not a reader, to be honest.”
It was comical how they began ignoring Hyejin all of a sudden.
“I know you’re not a reader, that’s why I asked you for books,” Jeongguk chuckled.
There was a sudden silence again.
“Well…how do you know that?” Haru egged further because there was no answer the first few seconds, “didn’t we just meet?”
Jeongguk’s face was frozen in his previous chuckle. Haru’s eyes bore into him, and found a grin that basically said that he’d known her since forever.
It was Hyejin’s turn to look away this time. She immediately began looking out the window as she put her cookies into the baking tray, guilt apparent in her eyes.
Jeongguk’s voice immediately became small as he covered, “I could tell. You’d only recommend movies and tv series to Hyejin. Not a single book mentioned.”
“Ah. Okay. The way you looked at me all smug kinda scared me.”
Hyejin gave a pointed look to Jeongguk that basically screamed at him to show some guilt. Jeongguk decided to ignore Hyejin’s looks for the time being; it was overbearing as it is waiting for Taehyung to come back around – and remembering how much they were hiding from the girl made it even worse. Would his human ever trust him again after he told her the truth? Not that he cared about her trusting him, but somehow, somewhere, her candor towards his persona and her image of him had began affecting him.
Before her, he didn’t use many words to relay his actions. Now though, he’d started being more expressive with his choice of words and was also more responsive with his facial expressions. He found himself grinning to himself more often, and beaming at others during light conversations that would make both parties chuckle.
It was a good enough change of pace, with all the tension about their Friday meet coming up.
Haru decided to continue the conversation from before, giving him a much-needed reprieve from his own words of folly.
“Do you not love? In the demon world?” Haru looked at Hyejin, then Jeongguk.
She pressed further when there was no reaction from either, “Seriously, no romance at all?”
Hyejin decided to answer her, meekly – egging at Jeongguk for some reason Jeongguk didn’t know.
“We have ‘relationships’. No romance, though. They’re mostly mutually benefitting situationships.”
Haru didn’t want to ask what a situationship meant in their context. She damn well knew what it meant having those relationships. She wasn’t going to criticize something like that without knowing how it actually worked in their realm. That was like spouting bullshit about someone when you were hanging onto them for dear life, for chrissakes.
“Yeah, I’m fine with that much. No need to explain more.” Haru stopped her from explaining further. There was no need to delve that deep into the demon realm; she stared at Jeongguk in wonder.
Seriously, no romances whatsoever, huh?
She thought Jeongguk shared her gaze, for a mere moment. But blamed it on her imagination later. The air between them had turned much sharper than before. Someone had to intervene to break the ice all over again.
“Before you maul me, we still have two days left before the meeting,” Taehyung abruptly apparated out of thin air, a black cloud of smoke forming and dissipating at the same time.
Haru gasped.
“Taehyung-ssi,” Hyejin acknowledged, “You’re here before time.”
“What the-” Haru pointed between Jeongguk and Taehyung, to and fro, while gasping, “you people can teleport? Like out of thin air?”
These bastards had a horrible habit of going silent when she asked the most important questions. Every conversation led Haru to snowball into huge balls of annoyance. The longer the conversations went on, the more annoyed she would get, waiting for answers.
“Why the hell are you driving cars then?” She pointed at Jeongguk in particular this time, “you could have teleported me home instead of dropping me home in your car.”
“We have specific rules, when to use our powers and when not to. It’s ingrained in our instincts so it’s hard to explain, human,” Taehyung was the first one to explain.
“You could say teleporting is for emergencies or something exclusive to demon-business only. It’s still very hard to put into words,” Hyejin added.
“We have to be very careful when using our powers, especially when we’ve chosen to show ourselves as human to your kind. I couldn’t have teleported you home. Public places are a no-go, and we can’t apparate to places we haven’t been to before, so inside your house is out of question too.”
“Is this going to be how it is all the time? She’ll keep asking trivial questions every time I’m here?” Taehyung was visibly annoyed.
Before Haru could say anything, Hyejin interrupted.
“Something seems to be bothering you, Taehyung-ssi. Is everything okay?”
“Nothing is okay,” Jeongguk said in a quiet tone as he put his hand to his ear suddenly.
“Why are they crossing so fast?” Jeongguk asked Taehyung.
Hyejin joined in on queue, holding her palm to her ear.
“So many deaths in a single day? It’s like a reaping,” Hyejin commented softly.
“They’re not answering us,” Taehyung said, “Oldies have fortified themselves in the citadel. Nobody can teleport there either. They’ve likely formed a circle and are summoning something. We literally don’t know what’s happening.”
The oven dinged, and Hyejin immediately opened the glass-case. The aroma of fresh cookies filled the room and Haru breathed in deeply. It was already overstimulating, hearing them in such a panicked frenzy. She decided to focus on the smell of the cookies, but found herself getting lightheaded. Deeper and deeper, she tried to breathe in but found no air getting inside her lungs.
She collapsed.
Asphyxiation written on her face as three heads whipped in her direction on the floor.
“Haru!” Jeongguk reached out in an instant and held her body before her head collided with the floor.
.
“Her presence is faint,” Hyejin said to Jeongguk and Taehyung, “It’s getting fainter by the minute.”
This couldn’t be happening. Jeongguk’s little human was getting weaker and weaker.
“Hyung, quick. We have to get to Keumi’s.”
“Have you lost it, Guk-ah?” Taehyung looked at him in disbelief.
“Well, do you have any other option? Both of you?! The way things stand, we can’t take her anywhere, can we now?” Jeongguk was dreading it more, minute by minute.
“Fine. Fast.” Taehyung shared a look with Jeongguk and Hyejin as the three of them disappeared with the human in a puff of black smoke.
“Ho…didn’t notice you coming,” a man with a small stature and rigid features said.
“Off with the chit-chat. This girl right here -,” Taehyung motioned at the girl and stepped away from Jeongguk, worried he might end up touching the human, “-she died and came to life the past week. She fainted and her soul is feeling fainter, as time ticks by. Fuck off with the whys and hows and tell us what we can do, stat.”
“A little respect for an old man, that’s all I ask. Although we’re all old here. Why am I the only one who looks old?”
Taehyung knew this bastard was going to be tricky and waste their time. He sighed in exasperation.
“Well, then, give the girl a few drops of ambrosia. I can’t believe I’m selling my wares for a filthy human.”
Hyejin was used to such conversations, but the way she’d taken a liking to Haru just made her hold the motionless girl's hand in Jeongguk’s arms harder.
“Come on, asshole. Name your price,” Jeongguk said hurriedly.
“Are you sure you’re up to pay? It might be something you’re not ready to hear,” the shriveled man gave a crooked smile and rubbed his palms together.
“Fucking say it already,” Taehyung grabbed the old man by the cloth on his chest as he spat in his face.
“A day of your time on Earth. Exchange it with me. My time’s running out and I have too many wares.”
“What the fuck?” Taehyung was in disbelief. Keumi was never up to any good, and his deals sounded as ridiculous and stupid as his ugly face.
Hyejin placed two fingers near Haru’s nose and felt her faint breath. She stepped up, without wasting time, “I’ll give a day of mine, if you guys are just going to waste time.”
“Wait wait wait, Haru,” Jeongguk interrupted, “You have to listen to all his conditions first. He’ll get you in trouble within seconds otherwise.”
“You come to my workshop and dare insult my craft. You will pay-”
“Yeah, yeah. We will pay dearly; we already told you to name your price. We’ll let you mooch off a day from us, alright?”
The shrewd old man went quiet for a second, then said with a straight face, “A day from all three of you.” He held out three fingers in front of them just in case.
Taehyung was already reaching out to grab the man, when Jeongguk stopped him by holding his arm. Taehyung noticed he’d already laid the girl down.
“Wait, hyung,” Jeongguk said to Taehyung then shifted his attention to Keumi, “Three days from only my time on earth. It’s the same amount, is it not?”
Keumi smiled. The frail old man liked seeing people in anguish. The chaos Jeongguk’s words had caused was the best example of his favorite kind of chaos. Both deals were good as they were – the first one made them argue, while the second one put a significant toll on one of them.
A day off their time on earth meant leaving earth sooner than they were meant to, having less time to complete their earthen duties when the time came. It could mean a lot of different things, but it could work if they handled their time well – when it came.
“I’ll barter a day of mine too,” Hyejin joined in.
“Hyejin-”
“Haru was my friend first, Jeongguk-ssi,” Hyejin stated, curtly. It was her only few instances of showing impoliteness with Jeongguk. And needless to say, Jeongguk was startled.
The way Haru was sharing all her belongings, including toys from her childhood had awakened the teenager in Hyejin. She’d shared the most memorable moments of her life with Hyejin within a few days’ time, and Hyejin had always wanted a friend like Haru. Human she may be, but Hyejin’s negative experiences with society and the differences in Haru’s human nature just made her like Haru more.
“Well then. Don’t leave me out, brother,” Taehyung clapped Jeongguk’s shoulder, “A day from me too, old man.”
Jeongguk was relieved that they were all on the same page. He didn’t need to question Taehyung’s motives. His older brother always had his back in things like these.
“Heh,” Keumi scoffed. He wanted them to argue or waste more time but they were pretty quick to decide.
He held out a vial in front of them which Jeongguk immediately grabbed.
“Sign these.” Keumi held out a scroll which he brought out from between his sleeves.
All three demons placed their personal markings on the paper after giving it a once-over.
“If this comes to bite us back in the ass,” Taehyung said to Keumi, in a deeper voice, “you’re dead meat.”
Keumi gulped.
“Yeah, well I already told you the conditions,” he explained nervously, “mix it with something so that the ambrosia’s taste is indiscernible. Humans aren’t supposed to know what it tastes like.”
“I have tea ready at home; let’s go,” Hyejin was quick to say.
They returned back to the mansion’s kitchen the same way they’d gone to Keumi.
Hyejin quickly poured some black tea in a cup and emptied the vial into it. It was a mere 3-4 drops but it managed to change the color of the tea into a dark creamy color.
Jeongguk settled the girl between her arms and held her head still while Hyejin fed her the tea, slowly, gulp by gulp. Jeongguk would straighten her head after every sip to ensure it reached her stomach.
He laid the girl on the couch in the main hall, where demons who came for business usually waited for him.
“Is she okay? Can you check?” Taehyung said to Hyejin with a look that said, I’m not touching her, you do it.
Hyejin placed two fingers in front of her nose to check her breathing. It was even, and was turning normal.
“Her breathing’s getting normal,” Hyejin said, relieving Jeongguk.
Jeongguk sighed and took a seat at the adjacent armchair.
Taehyung and Hyejin too, took respective seats in the couches.
“This is scary shit, man. First the council goes crazy, then the girl decides to die again…”
It didn’t hit until a few seconds of Taehyung saying the last line had passed.
“Wait…”Hyejin gave a look that said Are you thinking what I’m thinking?, “Was it consequent with that event? Like the reaping? The elders weren’t answering.”
“No doubt about it.” Jeongguk stated firmly.
“Jeongguk, you’ve been saving a dead girl. I hope you’re aware,” Taehyung said.
Hyejin sighed, rubbing her temples. What did they get themselves into?
Just then, Haru began coming to.
The girl slowly opened her eyes and gauged her surroundings. She looked at the familiar faces and began to sit up.
“Relax. Keep lying down if you want to,” Hyejin immediately got up and sat beside Haru.
“Why was I unconscious?” Disheveled was an understatement. Haru held her head, keeping herself steady.
“Again with the questions,” Taehyung said, holding a poker face.
.
“Jeongguk, can you please, please help me find out-“
“I’m already looking into it,” Jeongguk interrupted, knowing what was coming, “I’m looking into your case, Haru.”
“Two days later, we’re having a proper meeting about this,” Hyejin notified Haru and reminded the other two, “Let’s hope we have something worth moving forward.”
Haru nodded at Hyejin.
Jeongguk took solace in the fact that his name was the first one to come out of her mouth when she needed help. That would do, for now.
“Hyejin, do you think I’ll live?” Haru turned to Hyejin.
Jeongguk was unsure about having to share such attention with Hyejin. Although, it wasn’t an actual problem for him.
“Let’s hope for the best, Haru. I sure as hell am not losing my only female friend ever. I’ll do all I can to help you.”
That was reassurance on a lot of levels. Haru was thankful, truly; it showed on her face.
“I’ll check in with the council now,” Taehyung said, “Seems like they’re taking calls again.”
“Till then, you take care, Haru,” Taehyung gave an upward nod to Haru when he said her name; acknowledging her by name for the first time. He promptly smoked out.
“They better have an actual answer for this. Whatever this was, a reaping or sudden outburst – they will have to answer this time. They’ve been getting away with way too much just because of their authority. It correlates with our current situation, so I’m not letting this go.”
Jeongguk was truly outraged.
Haru wanted to tear up due to all the concern she was getting. What would she have done had she fell into the wrong hands? Thank goodness for these three good demons.
“Will you let me know once you find out what’s happening?” Haru looked at Jeongguk, then Hyejin.
“You can count on it,” Hyejin replied for the both of them.

Tumblr media
jin
Majoring in ceramic, you met Seokin on the first day of your third year.
Being a year older than you, in Seokjin you found a shoulder to cry on on your worst days, like on those nights you thought your life was pointless or the day your artwork had been ruined; he was there for you.
Tumblr media
yoongi
Majoring in carpentry, he was your rival in first year, until you accidentally broke his piece and felt so bad you spent all night trying to recreate it.
When yoongi found you asleep by his desk the morning after, hands dirty and hair full of wood, he realized you were not that bad.
Tumblr media
rm
Majoring in photography, you had met him at an exhibit. Instantly befriending the boy, you spent more than an hour and an half talking about art in front of a coffee in that downtown coffe shop. From that day you guys are the closest of friends.
Tumblr media
hope
Majoring in graphic design, you had met him at a dinner thanks to Jin and liked him in a second. Hope was exactly what art should be like: exciting.
He was chaotic, funny, charismatic.
Usually the quiet and introverted kid, around hope you were your funny self and the laughters you shared with the boy were always the loudest.
Tumblr media
jimin
Majoring in digital arts, he had been your bestie since day one, when you both were little lost freshmen.
You usually spend most of your day with him, in and out of college.
First supporter of Jungkook's team, he had always warned you about the possibility of him liking you. When you had met Taehyung, Jimin was always there to remind you why the good boy was always the right choice.
Tumblr media
taehyung
Majoring in sculpture, the day you met him, god, it was the day cupid's arrow pierced your heart. You were in a bar close campus drinking your favorite hot drink when he stumbled towards you, your drink spilling on his clothes.
"Don't worry about my shirt" he had said in the deepest voice possible, "I'm worried about my drink!" you had replied, the face the man gave you was one of pure amusement.
"Let me buy you another one then".
and suddenly, you were in love.
Taehyung was like a drug.
Tumblr media
jungkook
Majoring in fine arts, jungkook was the prettiest boy you have ever met and so mysterious too; you spent your first year watching him from afar, looking at the gentleness of his touch, the details in his pieces, the feelings he poured into his drawings; when you finally approached the guy you instantly got close.
One year deep into your friendship with the painter, under the sun of April, you had met Taehyung and had fell in love with him. But in a rainy night of May, forgotten on his desk, you found Jungkook's sketches book, opening it, you found it was full of drawings, paintings, love letters made in patterns, all for you.
I loved nevertheless and I thought it would have been fun to make Bangtan a part of it!

Hello! I really love your idea! The boys' reaction when Y/N overworks and basically locked themself in their room/chamber? Hope this isn't too much! :D
Glad you’re enjoying them, love! Of course this isn’t too much, it really excites me that you are comfortable enough to even consider sending in an ask. Anyways, enjoy 😊🌿🌿💚💚

BTS’s Reaction to Y/N Overworking and Locking Themself in their Chamber
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Kim Taehyung
Taehyung’s would definately be worried but there’s a part of him that also understands that as the ruler, you are obligated to continue your work under any circumstances. Since the L/N dynasty is still relatively new, there will be many dangers that would approach and you have to do your part to protect the country. Taehyung, with his mastermind would try his absolute best to help you but as a consort, he can’t really do much as a consort is traditionally not allowed to be invested in politics. However, none of you really care considering how you became the ruler with male concubines ( an act that breaks the gender roles). Knowing that, you won’t just bring him into office with other ministers as it would bring more harm than good so you guys settled for yours’ bedroom and talk about the problems there.
As Taehyung is a very observant person, he would notice your sudden fatigue or pale expression at times but would not comment on it, knowing that you would refuse his claims. As a result, he would subtly inject himself in between you and your pile of work like the little minx he is, and offer you little treats to help you relax. At night, he would intentionally be much more affectionate; hugging you and pulling you onto the bed and cuddle you, trying to hypnotize you to sleep. However, this plan has a catch; his physique is too frail to even pull you. Many would think that as a tall and lean male, he would at least have the ability to pull you but unfortunately, brute strength is not his area of expertise. It was also one of the many reason why he was bullied as a child ( like a sack of potato). When he realized that he does not have the strength to do so, his immediate reaction was to pout and complain how tired he is and want to cuddle with you. Of course, Y/N could never resist his adorable expression even after seeing grow from a starved child to a young adult, so you willingly lead him to the bed and cuddle.
The little minx then continued his plan and as you guys talk about future plans, he began curling himself in your hold and melting into you. Seeing how comfortable he is, you slowly began to relax as well until both of you are both in dreamland, finally getting some rest.
“ Y/N-iee, get up! I’m tired and don’t have the strength to pull you. Let’s cuddle in bed and talk about whatever.”
Kim Namjoon
As your personal physician, he would know right away that you were obviously sacrificing your sleeping hours to work considering how similar you are to a panda. He would then warn you about the effects of overworking when he had the chance to examine you for your monthly checkup. Namjoon would then making you consume medicinal tea to help you relax while working. He would stand by your side, refusing to let you work until you had finish your bowl of medicine. Knowing that if he were to be firm, you would eventually listen ( courtesy to years of working with you). Because of his position, he could use that as a reason to be with you more often, claiming that you will work yourself to death.
As he is in your office more frequently, you would find yourself relax when in his presence and more often than not have a conversation going between the two of you. Considering how knowledgeable he is, the two of you can even talk for hours before even realizing how late it already is. This would be a never ending cycle for the both of you during this time, not that you both really mind the change. Even if you decided to lock yourself inside your room, Namjoon has the special to persuade you to either go out or let him in to help you.
Different types of oils and herbs that specializes in calming an individual would be kept on the little table on the side of your desk for Namjoon to used whenever he is there.
“ Y/N, drink this. No, don’t even think about finishing your work until you have finish this bowl entirely.”
Jung Hoseok
Unlike Namjoon and Taehyung, Hoseok got to know you only after you became the ruler so he does not have the opportunity to spend that much time with you. He also does not have your permission to enter your private chamber or office like the others so he just can’t just barge into your office like Taehyung usually does. Considering how he was taught, Hoseok would be more worried in losing your favour than worrying about your health. He just assumed that you are used to it considering how experienced you looked when dealing with the ministers. This is one of the situation where he would have to use his status to meet you; asking his wretched father to secretly ask you for a private audience. As time continue to pass by, his anxiety would only grow until the letter that you had personally written came to his doorstep.
Desperately holding on the letter, he praced his way to your chambers along with the guards that was assigned to him. When he finally got there and the guards were dismissed, he finally understood why you were so distant these past months. Piles of scrolls and manuscripts are piled onto seemingly every crevice of your office, with you working on another from your desk in the far back of the room. Skillfully he made his way over to you, sitting down on the chair once you have made a spot big enough for him. His palms began to sweat when you asked the reason asking for an audience, while the calming scent caused his adrenaline to spiked when he acknoledged that his reason was somewhat unreasonable. When you saw how he looked somewhat conscious, you asked again in a gentler voice, trying to calm him. After his heartbeat had decreased to a better rate, his mouth then ran rampage with his reasoning until you had to intervene, claiming that you were too busy and apologized for making him feel this way.
Satisfied that he was not neglected, he finally realized the condition of your office and offered to help you organize them. And with that, you find yourself a new little helper who is brighter than the sun, itself.
“ Y/N, where should I put this? There? Alright!”
Min Yoongi
With how your first private encounter with him went, you had granted him the permission to enter your courtyard when needed. As the previous dynasty’s crown prince, let’s say that surviving in the current one alone was not an option for him. As a result, he had came up with countless reasons to try to remain by your side, desperately afraid of being neglected yet also a bother. Yoongi knows that he has no power and is probably smaller than a sand particle, weak enough that the smallest gust of wind would send him flying across the field. As a result, he became your little office helper whenever he comes over to visit which was quite often.
Recently, Yoongi had picked up that you had seem particularly pale. Your eyes sometimes unfocused itself and your expression is simply horrid. Of course, he knew that you were working extremely hard but it was naive of him to think that you will be alright. His actions of trying to help can vary depending on the day. It could be from offering you a little smiles while helping you to desperately hanging onto you, begging you to stop working. To some others, it might seem very exaggerated but to him, after seeing how his father had died so easily, he imagined it would be as easy for you as well. With that being said, he can even be considered to be your little nanny who would be taking care of you during this time.
However, with him being there Y/N would most likely not be able to work for hours straight. Seeing him running around helping you while carrying a pout would distract most definitely you too many times.
“ Your majesty, y-you need to rest! Let me take care of this mess. I-I’ve been trained for this so trust me, your majesty!”
Jeon Jungkook
Jungkook is probably the only one who has a reasonable purpose of being by your side that frequently. However, he would most likely not be able to notice your change in demeanour until much latter than the rest as he takes his job very seriously, not wanting to disrupt you and only standing outside your room to guard it. He is also quite young and is used to not care about anyone except for himself so he might come off as naive at times. Jungkook finally noticed how overworked you seem when Taehyung asked about your scheduled. Poor bunny got yelled at by the consort for this when he just calmly listed out your schedule. After that he realized that maybe your schedule is a little too hectic but when it is accompanied by your accidental night shifts, it is too much.
Jungkook then began to squeeze himself between your schedule; interrupting different ministers that have questions after an audience, intervening your time with your desk to force you on a walk, etc. When it is time for your guys’ lesson, he would consciously move you guys outside to a better environment, claiming that your office is too cramped. At this time, he would try his best to soak up the information faster to not burden you more.
At times, Jungkook would sneakily leave small meals by the window for you, knowing that if he were to bring them directly, he would not be able to explain his reasons. Of course, Y/N knows this but they find it too cute to let the bunny know about his mischievous actions.
“ General Yoon, please save your opinions for another time. Your majesty has been working non-stop and now needs some time to rest. Please ask for a private audience next time. Now please excuse us.”
Kim Seokjin
Poor Y/N, the moment Seokjin gets notified about your recent habit, he would act like he is the emperor instead of you so good luck. having gone through years of haggling, the merchant seems to have a bountiful amount of energy when it comes to yelling at you. From yelling at the cause to the short and long term effect of you neglecting your health would drive Seokjin to lecture you nonstop. He would only stop after seeing how tired you are. The day after that, you were gifted a chest full of cosmetics and herbs from him.
Instead of asking for a public audience to suggest a trading plan, Seokjin would first ask for a private one to discuss it with your beforehand then go to a public one before finally deciding if it would be successful or not. For him, this plan would not only be better as it gives you and him more time to think, it also gives him the opportunity to be with you more. Considering his personality, your private audiences will be nothing but serious. You guys would not only talk about different plans but also spend time, bonding with each other as well!
As the wealthy merchant Seokjin is, he would bring different items he plan on trading with yours to your chambers to help you visualize the products better. He would deliberately leave some of the ones he think would suit you the best, claiming that he accidentally left it there but never really coming back to get it.
“ Do you think you are a child? You are old enough to know your own limits but what did you do?? YAH! Listen to me!”
Park Jimin
Jimin might be flirty but he isn’t naive. Recently, his attempts of wooing you seems to go through one ear and exit the other so he obviously know that something is wrong. At first, he thought that the problem is in him. Jimin tries to change himself to your liking but it doesn’t seem close to be hitting the mark. Slowly he began to cling to you, wanting to know what is stopping the two of you from bonding with each other. So like your first night, he sneaked into your private chambers. Unexpectedly, he found himself confused if he was really in the right room. Compared to his first night with you, the room was far too messy as of right now. The only space that was not occupied by stacks of paper was your bed that was currently being squished by you. Jimin slowly approached your tired form, finally understanding what had been happening these past months.
As he is quite affectionate, Jimin could not let himself waste this chance to cuddle you. The next morning, you worked up with your legs tangled with his, confused how he managed to get in with Jungkook guarding outside but deciding to not question it considering that he is not a threat. Jimin would sleepily flirt with you, teasingly saying how clingy you were towards him last night which was probably the opposite.
From that day on, Jimin would appear in your chamber at unexpected times during the day to cuddle you or to hug you. This of course would distract you but it is a welcome distraction.
“ You were hugging me so tightly that I thought I would suffocate. Of course, you can always do that to me. As long it is you~”

Don't Blame Me Part Two - Seokjin & Grace
Tumblr media
Jungkook had unofficially moved in.
Since Seokjin had walked out of their argument over a week ago, Jungkook had walked in and not left. His clothes and shoes had taken residence in the spare room with some of his gym equipment and Bam’s bed was put pride of place near the TV in the living room. Whether she wanted him to or not, Jungkook wasn’t going to leave his noona alone.
The moment he had received the message from Seokjin about the argument, Jungkook had woken himself up, took a quick shower, asked his brother to mind Bam for the night and made his way over to Grace’s apartment. Of course, he had a key as he was the favourite child. And there he had found her, on her bed, in tears.
He knew, somewhat, about the reason for the argument. The rest of the boys had been over the moon when the two eldest announced their relationship to them and the company and had been supportive from day one, they also knew how unforgiving the KPop industry could be to their idols who announced their relationship. The company had advised the two to keep it secret until a time came along when it could be announced appropriately. Of course, they had planned to announce it around Seokjin’s military service after the tour but then COVID and everything else happened so delays, delays, delays - in more ways than one.
Jungkook could understand his hyung’s frustration at not being allowed to be seen by the public and he could understand the want to protect Grace but she was unselfish. She always put others in front of her when it came to her own projects, thoughts and dreams. Her solo album had been pushed back so many times so they could put BTS’ projects and others' solo projects first. She thought of ARMY’s views constantly and she knew what people expected of her, what they didn’t expect of her, what they needed to see and the like.
It was an impossible situation and one, Jungkook knew, would not be healed quickly.
Jimin and Taehyung had made visits as well, declaring one night to be a sleepover. They pulled Grace’s mattress into the living room and brought over a load of snacks, putting their noona in the middle of them and holding onto her while they slept.
Yoongi had also made a visit. He had taken one look at Grace and muttered under his breath and then left.
Namjoon and Hobi hadn’t made an appearance yet but there had been constant update checks with Jungkook on the situation and they had been keeping an eye on Seokin as well.
They all knew there was no blame on either parties but they were just as stubborn.
Grace was fast asleep next to Jungkook who was updating the group chat of schedules as they had their Permission to Dance Seoul concert in two months. Surprisingly, Bang-PD gave the group a week off - he was protective of Grace like the rest of them and the news she had emotionally broken down had shaken him like the others.
Jungkook glanced over as Grace turned over and he reached over, tucking the sheets around her. She had done nothing other than quietly cry, sleep, shower then repeat. It was odd to be the one looking after her when she had done nothing but look after him since he first arrived at the dorm.
His cheek pressed against her shoulder blade, listening to her breathe as his eyes turned to the group chat. There was nothing from Seokjin though he had made his schedules according to their manager and he was keeping busy. There was a rumour going around that a yelling match between Seokjin & Yoongi had happened only yesterday but no one had confirmed it.
Speaking of Yoongi.
The door to the bedroom opened and Yoongi poked his head around, glancing at the maknae snuggled up against his noona and Bam taking up the space at the end of the bed.
“Has she woken up yet?”
Jungkook looked up then towards his mother, shaking his head as he pushed himself up to prop his back against the wall. “Not yet. I think she was awake for most of the night though, I could hear her moving around in the kitchen but she’s fast asleep now.”
Yoongi hummed and leaned against the door, slight concern littering his face. “She needs to eat something, she’s got rehearsals starting on Monday, we all do. I don’t know what Jin-hyung is going to do but I hope they sort this out before then.”
It was hard to suppress the snort but Jungkook managed to do it, folding his arms across his chest. “He needs to pull his head out of his backside first.”
As much as Yoongi wanted to reprimand the youngest, he wasn’t entirely wrong.
“Try to wake her up in a bit if you can. I’ve got some food out there.”
Jungkook nodded and Yoongi left them to it, closing the door behind him.
“Noona, how do I make this better?” Jungkookie muttered against her hair where he rested his head on top of hers. It broke him to see her like this as she was always the strongest and the one who protected the rest but maybe that was the problem. Maybe she had taken all their worries and problems on and never allowed them to feel the burden until her own became too much.
Bam’s ears perked up at the sound of loud voices coming from the kitchen and Jungkook perked up, frowning as he slid off the bed to see what was going on.
If it had been any other situation other than the one they were in, Jungkook would have collapsed onto the floor in giggles at the sight of short Yoongi squaring up to his hyung, almost standing on tiptoes to go nose to nose.
“Hyungs! Hyungs! You need to be quiet otherwise you’ll wake her up,” Jungkook ran over and made a shushing motion with his hand.
“Give me an hour with her Yoongi-ah. I need to speak to her.”
“Last time you did that you walked out and left us to clear up the pieces because you were thinking of yourself and not her. She needs someone who is going to be her backbone and support system, to be her light. And the only person who has done that right now is Jungkook,” Yoongi pointed at the youngest who looked like a deer caught in headlights.
Seokjin sighed and ran a hand through dishevelled hair.
“I know. I know I’m an idiot. I realised that the moment I left. And I’ve thought on that every day so let me speak to her.”
Yoongi remained steadfast but after a gentle tug on his arm by Jungkook, he somewhat relented. “You’ve got an hour. Jungkook and I will leave you to it but we’ll be back in an hour. Bam stays.”
Jin rolled his eyes and ignored his dongsaengs, moving automatically to Grace’s bedroom. Bam had now moved to Grace’s left side, leaving her right free so Jin kicked off his shoes and laid down by her side.
“I’m sorry,” he quietly said. His crooked fingers brushed her hair away from her face. “I’m sorry for what I did and said and what I didn’t say. I’ve realised that this whole relationship is more than us - it’s Jungkook, Yoongi, Namjoon, Hobi, Jimin, Taehyung and ARMY. It’s BigHit and your parents and my parents. It’s everyone yet no one.”
Grace said nothing, still asleep but she did roll over so she was facing Jin.
“I’ve decided that I want to go to the military as soon as possible so we don’t have to hide anymore but I want you to make the decision about what we announce and what we don’t announce. We shouldn’t have to hide but we should protect who we are as well. I’ll follow your decision.”
He should have known she was being too quiet and he got the fright of his life when he glanced up to see a pair of eyes looking back at him.
There was a small smile on Grace’s lips at his reaction and he blew out a breath, pressing a hand to his chest.
“Warn a man next time.”
“I think you’re right as well,” Grace whispered, her voice croaky from the lack of use and from the amount of crying she had done. “I don’t want to hide but I want to protect us and everyone. I’m sure ARMY would be accepting but right now, we need to be careful. If you want to do it when you go to the military then that’s what we’ll do.”
“BigHit’s power couple?” Jin questioned, holding up his fist.
Grace chuckled at the nickname their managers had given them in the early days. “BigHit’s power couple,” Grace confirmed by pressing her fist to his.
They were found an hour later by Yoongi and Jungkook, fast asleep and holding onto each other. “Guess that means I’m getting kicked out,” Jungkook muttered as he and Yoongi packed up the food.
However, he stayed for another week, enjoying having his parents back together.

∷ Your weekly visit to the local convenience store was getting ruined by an entitled ramen thief.

Sweatpants + a huge jumper + messed up hair + Cheeto dust on your face= only acceptable when at home or on a late night trek to the convenience store.
You were doing the latter.
The walk to your local 24hr convenience store every Friday was the highlight of your week. Normal people would be terrified to walk alone at night, but you loved it. Everything was on mute; no one was around; just you. The stars couldn’t be seen through the layers of thick clouds, but it was reassuring to know they were still there. You could do anything you wanted, no one would see. You could fling off your jumper, run around stark naked and no one would bat an eye, there wouldn’t be anyone there in the first place. You were alone.
You remembered the walk to the store like the back of your hand. Take a sharp left after leaving your apartment. Along the thin path that was decorated with daisies; ivy cloaking and embracing the brick wall like camouflage for the old graffiti that painted the walls. Under the not-so-safe bridge with the not-so-clean river flowing past it. Past the snowy white cat that always rested on that wall; you never forget to give her a small chin scratch. Then up the typically busy street, but that was the best thing about being here when the city was asleep. No one was in the way of you scoring that weekly beef ramen.
That’s what you always did every Friday. It was also what another certain someone started doing every Friday since the 20th April.
It was like clockwork at this point. You enter the store, greet Dave; the half-asleep employee who you were on a first name basis with, walk to the back of the store; it was where the refrigerators and your favourite drinks were, then skip happily to the third row; your beef ramen was always the only one left on the shelf at this time of night.
Something was stopping you from your normal routine; the something being a tall handsome man at the other side of the aisle, eye-fucking your ramen. He looked just as abominable as you do this evening. Same jumper, same Cheeto dust.
But his face was near perfect; not one spot in sight. Soft to touch, smooth. The features seemed to be carved with utmost delicacy and care, maybe a few slip-ups, but it was near perfection to you.
He radiated so much character to you with just one look, the one small ring hanging from his ear told you he was up for anything but has a limit, as there is only one piercing. Deshelved hair, but had the messy look everyone wanted, showed you how careless he is about his hair- he has his face so you wouldn’t worry about hair either.
His chocolate eyes looked distressed and determined as he looked at your ramen- Your ramen.
It clicked for you that he was staring up your beef ramen; you felt disgusted on behalf of your ramen. You glanced back up at your competitor; he had the same stare on his face; both of you had slits for eyes and you knew only one of you could walk out of the store a champion.
You could’ve sworn you saw a tumbleweed fly past his long legs. The stare down was intense; you weren’t nervous at all, he can give you his best.
You darted towards the ramen with a lengthened arm stretched out. It was so close; your finger grazed the ramen and danced along the packet, but it was taken from your grip.
You weren’t one to brag but, your reaction time was pretty outstanding so that ramen was back in your hands in no time. The soft contact of his skin you thought about touching, grazed your thumb; you only took into perspective how close you and this ramen stealer were. He towered over you with a glare pointed at your hands on his supposed ramen.
“Hands off, I was here first,” he pulled the ramen towards his chest, ultimately pulling you with it.
“RAMEN. MINE,” you couldn’t form proper sentences under pressure; so you let broken words fall from your mouth and pulled the ramen back with the same amount of force- a little more hostile than him.
“What? Sorry, no crazy lady, this is mine,” He pulled it back; his attitude ticked you off more than it should this evening and you and ‘crazy ramen thief’ had a tug-of-war in the middle of a convenience store aisle.
It got out of hand quickly. Somehow you ended up pulling too hard; he fell into you, and the shelf behind you. Products fell and were spread all over the floor. “Y/N?”, the sound of crashing awoke Dave and he advanced towards the aisle; he will kill you if he sees this mess.
“Well, see you later Y/N,” the ‘crazy ramen thief’ shoved the ramen into your chest with a stupid grin- it made you want to punch him.
But what made you want to punch him, even more, was when he dashed out of the store, leaving you to blame for the mess.
You decided right then; you have a new enemy. At least you got the ramen.

It was the same for today as well, leave your apartment to go buy your evening meal. You took the same route, looked at the same things. You took a sharp left after leaving. Went along the thin path with the daisies and the ivy graffiti wall. Under the not-so-safe bridge with the not-so-clean river flowing past it. Past the snowy white cat. Then up the typically busy street. But then something happened that never happens on your route. You saw someone else. He had the same pace as you, slow steps that were leading him towards the convenience store that illuminated lime green in the distance.
The thought popped into your mind; you know that messy, dishevelled hair. It was 'crazy ramen stealer’. You didn’t stop to think for a moment when you bolted past him, leaving the thief in your dust. The wind was sweeping your hair over your shoulders and untangling messy knots. You felt the satisfaction of buying the last pot of ramen flow through your veins already; it pumped the adrenaline through you faster. Your legs stretched out further with each stride.
That, unfortunately, was your downfall. Legs. He had them; you didn’t.
You made a trivial mistake running past him- he recognised you instantly. He laughed at how pathetic you were; you couldn’t beat him. He lifted his feet and picked up the pace, breaking out into a sprint.
Panting resounded in your left ear as you saw the thief matching your movements with less amount of effort. This guy got your blood pumping- but in the wrong kind of way.
He smirked and you could’ve done it; you could’ve reached out and slammed your fist into his face. He was already gone, but not before snarky words dripped out of his foul mouth:
“Good evening. It’s Y/N, right? Well, sorry to make this greeting short, but I’ve got to go buy some ramen.”
You walked, clutching your stomach, puffing and panting, through the automatic doors of the store to be greeted, not with Dave, but with Dave selling the last pot of beef ramen to a grinning bastard. He walked past you with the smug look on his face you should be wearing and spoke.
“I’m Jin by the way. I have a feeling we will be meeting up more often.”

23:01:12 » Friday 4th May  2018
Today you planned to leave earlier- it’s only a few minutes but that could make the difference between losing and winning with Jin.
Jin.
The name haunted you for all of last week; his name and face stuck in the back of your mind, he was the source of the burning feeling you were experiencing; the reason you were getting so competitive over just ramen.
You didn’t take a moment to appreciate the reasons why you come out here so late. Your steps were hasty; flying straight past the snowy cat, not stopping to scratch her. You made it onto the typically busy streets; the air at night-time was definitely different. It felt bitter but when you breathed it in you felt warm. You couldn’t describe the feeling in words- like you were at home while standing outside.
Lime green lights flickered into your vision and the sign that had imprinted itself into your mind came into view. Your stroll became a skip as you entered the store.
Jin was nowhere in sight- brilliant. Joyfully, you skipped to the back aisle and grabbed your favourite drink and took a U-turn to the third.
It was sitting there perfectly on the shelf. Untouched. It felt strange just being able to grab it like this- you missed the competition a little.
You slammed the ramen and drink on the counter triumphantly and handed your money over to Dave. You had a smirk on your face, but he wasn’t here to see it, making it feel pointless.
Stepping out of the store and inhaling the night air once again you thought about waiting for him; just for gloating purposes obviously. It was a silly thought and you brushed it off. You didn’t want it to seem like you care. You plodded down the few steps and looked up to see the one and only; you hid the ramen behind your back.
“Hello there, Y/N,” he said your name differently, it was dragged out longer; it was said with a little more power. You couldn’t admit to yourself that you got excited whenever he said it. Maybe because it was him was saying it.
“Don’t even bother hiding it, I already saw you skip in there and buy it.”
“So you stalked me,” he turned while scoffing at your assumption.
“I wasn’t stalking you, I just happened to see you through the window,” you nodded at him while pushing past his shoulder- you wanted to be petty.
“Well, this is a goodbye, Jin, I’m going to enjoy my ramen,” you wiggled the pot in his face and turned on your heel to walk a confident stride home. Even though he didn’t want to, Jin couldn’t help but watch you walk away from him.

23:05:02 » Friday 11th May 2018
You couldn’t believe it- you were late. It may have been by a few seconds, but you were still late.
Sprinting seemed pointless now as you saw him standing outside the store, plastic bag in hand. But when you saw him, you felt yourself start to run faster.
You approached him and he jolted at your presence, looking extremely panicked you were actually here. You smirked and thought it was cute for like one second. Just one small second.
“So you were waiting for me?”
“For ages. You really need to start working out,” his retaliation struck a chord with you.
“You need to clean out that dirty mouth of yours.” A hearty chuckle/squeak was heard from behind you as you decided to just walk away from him; you didn’t win this week.
“Where are you going?”, you have never twisted around so fast. Why was he asking?
“I didn’t win, so I’m leaving,” you corrected him, and he began slowly nodding looking every but your gaze. You set off walking away again when Jin finally said what he was dodging around and groaned before saying it.
“Wait! There was two this time,” he was telling the truth as he pulled out two beef ramens from the plastic bag, “do you want it or not.” The question sent a small flame to your chest, the chilled night cooled it down again. Your first instinct was to say yes to this 'crazy ramen thief’. You noticed your favourite drink laying in the bottom of the bag- it made your heart soft.
You were hesitant at first; there would be lots of bickering if you sat and ate with him. You didn’t want to start hating him; he didn’t even seem that bad of a guy, but he stole your ramen. “Fine.”

“Jin! Stop it,”
“Y/N, come on, you can’t hate a classic.”
“I don’t, but it’s coming out of your mouth,” you flicked his forehead again; you can’t remember how many times you have done that tonight.
You were right when you thought there would be bickering for the better half of the night; at the moment Jin thought it was hilarious to hum the Batman theme tune in your ear, you, on the other hand, did not. Your eardrum was beginning to ache and you felt the need to blame it entirely on Jin.
What you didn’t expect, was to learn so much about him. You found out you were right about his earring, hair, and the confidence he has with his face (a little too confident), and learnt much more about this intriguing character.
“Okay, I concede, I’ll stop,” you didn’t mean to let out a heavy sigh, but the relief of not hearing 'dunununun batman’ again was an amazing feeling.
Taking a moment to breathe and relax in the silence was a rare moment with Jin, but now that you’re experiencing being with him for more than 3 minutes, it’s wasn’t so awful. A raw gust of air drifted through you and Jin, biting at you on your nose and ears; you snuggled further into your jumpers collar, you waited for the harsh wind to pass before emerging again.
“Do you know your nose and ears turn red when your cold,” Jin was speaking in a softer tone than before, it sounded much better than the annoying hums.
You reached and covered your nose- you did not know that. He laughed at your sudden shyness; it was a nice contrast from your normally confident personality.
“Don’t worry. It’s cute,” he grabbed his drink and began sipping. You hadn’t said a word and dropped your hand, shocked. It was obvious you weren’t answering any time soon; he started panicking, chugging the drink so he didn’t have to speak to you.
“Jin uhm” your voice was out of the blue and it made Jin start choking on the drink.
“Are you okay,” you started hitting his back in hopes it will help- it didn’t.
He swatted at you and stood up and away from your surprisingly strong smack. “I’m good,” his reply was short and combined with strained coughs, “I should go.”
He grabbed his plastic bag and started running away from you quicker than he was last week.
“Bye!”, he lifted his hand as he ran away and left you alone; you could still hear his small coughs from far away.
“What a strange man.”

Today felt a little different. There was only one pot of ramen there. Last week ended the same as before; there were two pots there so you ate together. But…
It was weird because you thought you would be eating with Jin again- no matter how much you two bickered, you didn’t mind the company.
But now you weren’t spending this Friday night with him, and it bugged you more than you thought it would.
“Y/N, hey,” Jin glided through the doors and past the aisles, “you grab the ramen and I’ll get the drinks.”
He had become so casual with you- it was freaking you out. You had only known this man for six weeks; you had sworn him off as your enemy; you only talked to him a little. Now he was acting like a friend and you realised you didn’t want that at all. You wanted more which was even scarier.
He happily stepped up next to you and followed your gaze to the one pot of beef ramen.
“Oh, there’s only one. We could share it.”
“No,” you answered almost immediately and stepped away, “I don’t want to eat with you.”
“No?”, he claimed in a hurt tone and just looked at you, “We’ve been eating together for the past two weeks.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t want to eat with you anymore,” you started walking out towards the door and away from this emotional mess you were feeling; if you were around him it got worse, and it terrified you as you haven’t even known him that long.
Your hand was taken from your side and you were pulled to face Jin, “why not? You know I’m actually starting to like you… just a little.”
“Me too.”
“Good, so can we just buy-”, you forced your hand from his grip and stepped back in surrender- the weird clenching feeling in your heart was becoming overwhelming.
“No Jin, I like you, it’s not like how you see me,” you stated as you slowly stepped back, “it’s weird, we’ve only known each other for six weeks. I should just go,” you spun and dashed out the door before his hand could catch you again and didn’t stop running till you made it to the familiar snowy white cat.
She called out to your distressed form and you promptly answered with the usual chin scratch. You sighed and rested your head in your spare hand as you continued scratching the stray cat.
You really couldn’t see Jin again after you said that.

The streets were dead.
Jin sat at the table outside of the lime green convenience store, two pots of ramen laid out neatly with chopsticks next to each one. It had been an hour; he knew you weren’t coming, but he waited there in the darkness still.
He played with the lid on one of the pots, entertaining himself as the Batman theme song left his lips in a hum.
Jin really needed to see you after he heard what you said.

He wasn’t going to wait two hours for you again. He chucked the untouched ramen into the trashcan with hostility. It had been two weeks- you still wouldn’t show up at your place. Your place?
He knew you were right when you said it was strange and scary to feel this way about someone you only just met; he understood as he was experiencing it himself.

23:00:00 » Friday 22nd June 2018
You dragged your feet along the thin path; you barely noticed the daisies and ivy anymore.
You took your time under the not-so-safe bridge.
Past the snowy white cat that always rested on that wall; not ignoring her on purpose and forgot her usual small chin scratch.
Then up the typically busy street.
You missed the noise, specifically Jin’s noise. You hadn’t seen him for three weeks and it frightened you that you were still grieving over him. You hadn’t noticed how much he had an impact on your weekly schedule.
You lugged yourself through the door and neglected Dave, leaving him in an awkward position of being halfway through a hello. It was straight to the third aisle; you haven’t been in a great mood because of Jin, you needed some ramen.
You looked the same as you did those ten weeks ago: sweatpants, stained jumper, Cheeto dust everywhere, and messed up hair. Before, when you were seeing Jin every week, you didn’t realise you dressed up a little more. It all felt stupid now.
Once again, the ramen was nearly in your grasp, so close before it was snatched away and you were pulled towards your thief. The crazy ramen thief.
“You know if you would’ve just listened to me I wouldn’t have had to wait for you here every Friday.”
“Jin-”
“No, don’t say my name,” he loosened his grip on the pot and let it drop between you two, “You left me for three weeks… I missed you.”
You were dismayed and the three words threw you off track- he didn’t let you get a word in.
“I missed the strange ramen competition we had, it was ours- it was fun to see how determined you were to win against me,” he brought the cup back up to chest level, “your such an idiot, I liked you too. I know how scary it is for you to go from hate to love so suddenly.”
“Liked?”, you questioned him with caution, still unsure of what he was saying. He scoffed and tugged the ramen pot so you were in position.
“I have feelings for you too,” he spoke softly and his breath fanned on your lips before he leaned in and embraced you in a warm kiss.
Somehow the ramen pot stayed in between you two; figuratively and literally.

“Grab the ramen, I’ll get the drinks,” Jin shouted as he ran to the end aisle.
“There’s only one,” you shouted across the store as you frantically examined the shelf, but there was nothing in sight. You and Jin were unable to celebrate valentines yesterday so today’s plan was unplanned and spontaneous, but the familiar feeling of being here again was nostalgic as you looked back on how you and Jin met.
You chuckled to yourself at how stupid you two were.
“What are you laughing at, freak,” a bottle was placed on your head and Jin stood tall behind your petite size; you turned and grabbed the bottle and giggled again.
“Nothing,” you left him in the third aisle and arrived at the counter.
Dave, sadly, no longer worked at the convenience store and you were greeted with an unfamiliar and foreign face, “just these then?”
You and Jin walked, hand in hand, out of the store unto the typically busy street.
Past the snowy white cat.
Under the now fixed bridge and clean river.
Up to the thin path that no longer had daisies but the ivy was still standing strong.
And arrived at your now shared apartment to enjoy your beef ramen together.
