just FYI that while i do have problems/criticisms of some elements of natla, i'm not really interested in lambasting it to the heat death of the universe because its clearly got enough haters already and i'd rather focus on the things i enjoyed about it. the things i have problems with can be improved if they get renewed and i think it does deserve to get renewed because it has a lot of heart and potential to be a good story and good adaptation (just like atla book 1 wasn't exactly a masterpiece but was given the chance to grow into itself and the characters)

#holly talks bs #netflix atla #tbh the moment i heard about kiawentiio getting hate on ig i was like #yeah i don't think i have the energy to contribute to that atmosphere for these young asian and indigenous actors #it's a huge opportunity for them and the creators #and frankly seeing them get so much heat and hate when bryke are still held up on a pedestal despite all their misogyny and everything #post atla #leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth #ngl #so wild lurking on atla twt and seeing people hate on the la but then defend katara's treatment post atla and in tlok #i need people to wake up to the fact that there's ALWAYS been misogyny present in katara's canon narrative #yes even in the og #a female character can be feminist and still be misogynistically framed by the narrative shaped by the male creators #bryke went to like... the wh3don school of ~ feminism ~
