Put your music library on shuffle, then list the first five songs that come up in a poll to let people vote for which one they like the most! Then tag Tumblr friends to keep the game going!
Ngl I cheated just a little because there are a bunch of songs in my Spotify likes that I don't even really know, so I skipped those and just picked the first 5 that I would actually listen to if they came on.
Thank you @fallevs @daisyishedwig and @leydhawk for the tags!!
I'll be tagging @kurthummeldeservesbetter @mdverse @blurglesmurfklaine @gemsofthegalaxy and @cryscendo :)

White Angel of Merida Mexico
This silent angel in downtown Merida (aka Centro) offers you one slip of paper to guide your future. For 20 pesos, mine read (in Spanish), “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.” #Excellent message.
Tumblr media
White Angel of Merida
This young woman dresses up every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in her angel costume, which she designed and fabbed herself. She stations herself outside Merida’s cathedral in their central square.
Tumblr media
In front of Merida’s central cathedral
For a modest donation (such as my measly 20 pesos, about $1 USD) in her jar, which you can see at her feet, you draw one tiny piece of paper from her cup. She only “speaks” in gestures, ie, she’s a mime… She graces you with a smile as well.
I estimated she makes up to 1,200 pesos an hour (around $60 USD). It’s a good gig and she’s a fine artist/actress/mime in her own right. It’s another PB4L, personal business for life, or side hustle. Beats begging, right? Or waiting on tables if you are a young actress waiting for your next gig.
Makes people feel good too and, of course, it doesn’t hurt that she’s a beauty.
Prof Bruce
ps here’s Chris Rock’s latest (foul-mouthed) take on the power of female beauty (on Netflix), https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/chris-rock-live-standup-special. The title of his hour-long rant? “Selective Outrage.” A decent review is on Variety, https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/chris-rock-slap-will-smith-netflix-comedy-special-1235542611/. #NSFO #RatedR

Tagged by the fiercely fun @wendydarlingfics. (Put music player on shuffle and list the songs that come up!)
1. “Camaro” by Liz Longley—oh God I love this song so much. Liz Longley does the most luscious tortured love melodies. I also want to use it for a future Barbgrove fic, that would lean more heavily into angst territory. (Or at least them pining after each other post breakup)
2. “God-Shaped Hole” by Plumb…um…I don’t have a good excuse for this, except that Christian pop and rock were a strong part of my childhood and adolescence. I have a playlist entitled “Toxic Theology…but still a bop”
3. “Broke” by Brandy Clark. I wonder if Brandy Clark is confused with Brandy Carlisle…? Anyway, I love a classic country song about how poor you are.
4. “All Good People” by Delta Rae and Vocal Rush. I’m 50/50 on Delta Rae—so many of their songs hit SO GOOD, but others fall flat for me. But All Good People is such an incredible call to action.
5. “Holy Water” by Miranda Lambert. I have an affinity for country artists like Miranda Lambert, Gretchen Wilson, and Ashley McBryde. They are unabashedly petty, coarse, sweet, and roughshod all at once. I have a big annoyance with Taylor Swift editing her back catalog to more progressive lyrics. Songs are a history of a musician’s journey! Embrace being a petty 19-year-old.
6. “Anymore” Anna Akana. I know Anna from TikTok, presumably what most people know her for? But I really enjoy her album. She does an interesting sort of chant-sing-spoken-word style, not quite rapping, but almost. It’s softer and vulnerable. And God, the way she screams out in the second verse, “Convince yourself that one day when it’s right, you will commit/But I know you better than that baby, can’t you just admit? You don’t want a real girl what you want doesn’t exist.”
7. “Don’t Tell My Mom” by Renee Rapp. I have my own version of this song, called “Please Don’t Tell My Mama I’m Smoking”. I love a song about a powerful relationship between mother and daughter, especially one that explores the complexities of mental illness.
8. “Hollywood Forever Cemetery” by Allison Ponthier. I LOVE THIS SONG. I want to stroll down the street every day jamming to it. It’s quite a gruesome song, about ephemeral fame and short-lived starlets…but so bouncy and creepy. J’adore.
9. “Hell Yeah” by Montgomery Gentry. I thought this was the most badass song ever when I was a kid and I longed to be the girl in the second verse, with a “plush corner office and a don’t mess with me attitude”. KNOW ANY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN?! This is a great song to listen to after I’m off of work.
10. “Reincarnation” by Leanna Firestone. I do so love Leanna. A positive of TikTok is that it has introduced me to so many incredible independent musicians. I love the hope of this song, reminding herself that love is cyclical, that it will always return to you, even if you lose it somewhere else.

Dune buggy
Tumblr media
A byl to právě on, kdo režisérovi Normanovi Jewisonovi značku Meyers Manx doporučil. Ovšem, při konkrétním výběru vozu zašel ještě dál. Oslovil známého petrolheada Petera Condose, který sám žil na kalifornské pláži a vlastnil plážovou bugginu. S jeho pomocí původní vozítko vypiloval k naprostý dokonalosti.

The First Corvettes To Race At Le Mans – The Cunningham 1960 Chevrolet Corvette
In 1960 the Americans would arrive at the world’s most famous endurance race with a bang – three specially prepared 1960 Chevrolet Corvettes rolled off the trucks at the Circuit de la Sarthe to challenge for wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time.
The truth of the matter is that the Europeans were almost entirely dominant in both pre and post-WW2 top flight motor racing. The Brits, Italians, Germans, and French knew how to make the fastest cars in the world and the Americans often weren’t taken particularly seriously in races outside their own borders.
The 1960 Le Mans would go a long way towards changing this preconception.
Briggs, Zora, and $11,730.24 Worth of Corvettes
The team behind the development of the Corvette was led by Zora Arkus-Duntov, a fascinating man who had been born to Russian parents when they lived in Belgium, then raised largely in Berlin before fleeing to joint the French Air Force and fight the Nazis when WW2 broke out.
After the fall of France Zora and his family left Europe for the the United States, where they fell in love with the country, staying there for the rest of their lives. Zora had always loved fast vehicles, he started out with motorcycle racing before moving to cars, he proved both a highly capable engineer and a world class racing driver – achieving class victories in 1954 and 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans driving for Porsche.
In 1953 Zora had started working at GM and by 1955 he was the director of high performance at Chevrolet, he led the engineering of the Corvette, turning it from a 6-cylinder light sports car into a V8-powered racer that would take on the best in the world – and win.
After the 1955 Le Mans Disaster many manufacturers had left motor racing to the privateers, Chevrolet was one of them, much to Arkus-Duntov’s chagrin – he wanted to test the mettle of the Corvette against Europe’s best.
In the late 1950s Arkus-Duntov convinced Briggs Cunningham to take three Corvettes to Le Mans as a privateer – Cunningham was born into staggering wealth but he’d always shown much more interest in racing than money management, particularly yacht and automobile racing. By the late 1950s he’d already won the America’s Cup yacht race, the most prestigious in the world, and Arkus-Duntov talked him into entering three competition-prepared Corvettes at Le Mans.
Cunningham was no newcomer to Le Mans, he’s had developed and raced his own prototype sports cars at the event, taking a class win in 1953 with the Cunningham C5-R. His team had raced modified American road cars and prototypes extensively at Le Mans since 1950, becoming fan favourites in the process.
Entering the 1960 Le Mans
The Cunningham team bought three 1960 Corvettes from Don Allen Chevrolet, each was optioned to the gills with every performance tweak available including a 290 hp fuel-injected V8, quick-ratio steering, heavy-duty sintered-metallic brake linings, heavy-duty suspension, a close-ratio four-speed transmission, a Positraction limited-slip differential, a radio delete, and a temperature-controlled radiator fan.
Before shipping the cars to Europe they fitted a series of their own upgrades including Stewart Warner gauges, a Halibrand quick release fuel cap, Halibrand knock off wheels with Firestone racing tires, Koni competition shock absorbers, Bendix fuel pumps (a primary and a back-up), an additional front additional sway bar, a 37 gallon fuel tank, brake ducting from the grille area and a cooling duct from drivers side front bumper area (directing cooling air to the driver through the foot well), two seats from a Douglas C-47 Skytrain aircraft, and Sebring exhausts that exit in front of the rear tires.
The Corvettes would face stiff competition in Europe, they’d be racing against the Ferrari 250 TR59, the Aston Martin DBR1, the Porsche 718, the Ferrari 250 GT SWB, the Porsche 356B Carrera, the Triumph TRS, the Maserati Tipo 61, the Jaguar E2A, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SV Spyder, and a number of others.
The race took place over the 25th and 26th of June, Ferrari needed an outright win at Le Mans to take the FIA World Sports Car Championship title, so they brought 8 of their best cars. The race was always going to be a challenge but during the third hour a storm swept across the track bringing torrential rain which caused a number of accidents, shaking up the running order.
The rain continued intermittently throughout the night but began to clear by the morning, sadly two of the three Corvettes had been falling by the wayside, one of the cars had been rolled and was out of the race and another got stuck in the sand by the truck – losing valuable time before being recovered and getting back into the race (this was the car shown here).
By the time the chequered flag fell one of the Corvettes was still running – it took a class win at Le Mans and finished 8th overall. This was a great result for the first Corvette outing at the famous event, and although they didn’t know it at the time it was just the first of many, Corvettes have been racing at Le Mans for decades since.

The 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Shown Here
The car you see here is one of the three original 1960 Le Mans Corvettes, it’s been restored back to its original 1960 livery and specifications, and it won the Preservation Award at the 2016 San Marino Motoring Classic, as well as the Corvette class at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The car is now in the care of Bruce Meyer, a well known classic car enthusiast who specialises in historically significant automobiles. If you’d like to see it in person the good news is that you can – the car is one of the main exhibits at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s new exhibit dedicated to the cars owned by Meyer.

A couple of new ideas are a-brewin’...
Okay, so I know I just published a new SPN story called “Wayward Is Our Way”, and yes, that’s still happening. I’ve actually started work on “1x02 ~ Wendigo”. 🙂
However, I have a couple of new story ideas that have been a-brewin’ in my brain for some time.
The first story is a (Castiel x Reader) au. ❤️ I have the first chapter [the prologue] written and done. However, I’m gonna wait to publish anything until I’ve got at least a few chapters written ahead of time.
And, the second story is actually a Supernatural/Avengers crossover. I’ve actually had the idea since the summer of 2016, but just never really did much with it. I’ve recently rediscovered the prologue I had written for it, and have kinda fallen in love with story again. I’ve actually started work on the second chapter. It’s gonna be a (Bruce Banner x Angel!Reader) pairing. 💚 I’ll also be waiting to publish anything for this until I’ve at least written a few chapters ahead of time.
Anyway, that’s all for now.
Until next time! 😘
💋 Love always,
~Maddy

Why the International Beer Community Has Embraced Collaboration Brews
The value of beer is more than the sum of its parts — that’s a given. While yeast is a fundamentally important organism almost across the board, and water is obviously necessary for life, when combined with barley and hops, the result is something that brings people together, exists beyond nations and cultures, and is bloody delicious. All of the above applies to brewing collaborations, too.
Though collaborations between breweries offer little financial benefit — they often cost at least one of the collaborating parties a sizable amount of money — there’s a lot to be gained from teaming up with like-minded people, including new knowledge, exposure to different markets, and intra-industry bonding, to name a few benefits.
Back in 2013, when Ryan Witter-Merithew was the head brewer at Siren Craft Brew, just outside London, he launched one of the very first collaborative projects of its kind: the International Rainbow Project. The idea was simple: Pick seven breweries (one for each color of the rainbow), and pair them with seven breweries from somewhere else in the world.

“It was just a thought I had one day,” says Witter-Merithew, who founded and now runs Casita Cerveceria, a contract brewing operation in Farmville, N.C. “I don’t believe Siren was but six months old, and I was becoming familiar with the beers and brewers in the U.K., and the idea started to form. It was mainly a way to try to creatively challenge people — and have some fun with it.”
With brewing collaborations, you get out what you put in, says Witter-Merithew. “You can phone it in and pose for photos, which I’ve done, or you can spend the day talking process and try to learn something to take back with you, which I’ve also done,” he says. “Every brewery does something different [from] how you would approach it, and so it can be really helpful to see it firsthand, ask questions, and pick up a trick or two.”
Darron Anley, the founder of Siren, says that the Rainbow Project has become a very significant piece of the brewery’s history so far. “What started as a fun idea,” he says, “grew into something that caught a lot of people’s imagination, ended up with great reach, and really put a spotlight on the U.K. brewing scene.”
The Rainbow Project may have started as a fun, interesting, and challenging idea, but it grew into a national phenomenon, with highly acclaimed breweries — such as 3 Floyds Brewing Company in Hammond, Ind., Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, Calif., New Belgium in Fort Collins, Colo., and Garage Project in Wellington, New Zealand — collaborating with some of the U.K.’s best breweries. What Witter-Merithew and Anley didn’t realize, however, was how influential it would end up being.
Bruce Gray, the founder of Left Handed Giant in Bristol, was speaking to Anley over a beer at last year’s London Craft Beer Festival, when Anley mentioned that he was thinking of disbanding the project. “He felt that it had run its course, and the breweries involved had lost the enthusiasm they had for it when they began,” says Gray, adding, “I have always had a huge respect for what Siren and the other breweries involved [in the Rainbow Project] achieved in taking small, independent U.K. breweries to a wider audience.” The conversation continued, and after a few beers, Gray says, he and Anley “concocted the idea of Left Handed Giant taking curatorship of the concept, and bringing the next generation of small U.K. breweries into the fold.”
Because Gray valued the effect that the Rainbow Project had on British brewing, he was keen to take the project on, and to continue promoting the spirit of collaboration to a new audience. “With the evolved concept of handing its stewardship over every three years to a brewery that was founded within the last three years,” Gray says, “it will provide a continual platform for each generation of U.K. producers to reach beyond our borders, to collaborate, to learn, to create friendships, and further the U.K. beer scene’s impact on the world beer scene.”

Others agree that the positive influence of the Rainbow Project can’t be understated. “I think that it has spawned a lot of projects of this nature,” says Jon Swain, the founder of London’s Hackney Brewery, which launched its own international collaboration, the Skyline Project, last summer. As additional examples, Swain cites Elusive Brewing’s Collabogedden, Brewdog’s Collabfest, Wylam Brewery’s and now Northern Monk’s Northern Powerhouse, and Fierce’s North Sea Bridges.
Swain explains that the impetus to start Skyline grew out of a trip to New York. “The community really stood out to me,” he says. “I was visiting KCBC, and they introduced me to Interboro, who in turn introduced me to LIC Beer Project. Then visiting Other Half, they sent me to Threes, who then sent me to Strong Rope. It felt exciting, welcoming, and connected. I wanted to feel the same in our city.”
Operating on a near-identical model to the Rainbow Project, and many other similar projects, Swain paired London breweries with similar breweries in New York, which then collaborated on beers that were launched at the 2019 London Craft Beer Festival. “We’ve had some great feedback about it,” says Swain. “I think it’s a project we can grow, and [it] will hopefully capture something about each city we take it to.”
Last October, Harbour Brewing in Cornwall announced its new Radius Project, a collaboration that explores the impact of terroir on beer. As with other recent brewery collaborations, Radius brewers are thrown together to make a beer for a communal launch. Like the Rainbow Project, which used the colors of the rainbow as jumping off points and inspiration for creative brewing, Harbour’s project encourages a broad range of styles. Each Radius beer will express its distinctive terroir by incorporating one or more ingredients sourced from within a 20-mile radius of the brewery where it was made.
“The beer scene is dominated by a couple of styles — mostly lagers and pales or IPAs,” says Adam Sargent, Harbour’s branding and content manager. “We love those types of beers, but we also want to broaden drinkers’ horizons, and give them more — and different — choices. Radius is about being a showcase of the diversity of what beer can be.”
Sargent points out that brewers spend a great deal of time in their facilities with their heads down, making beer. “Collaboration projects — whether it’s two brewers working on one beer together or a group of individual brewers working [with] a common theme — get everyone communicating and thinking differently, [and] you always come out of it more enriched,” he says. “As drinkers, we think it’s exciting to see how, in a somewhat homogenized market, a group of breweries all start out at the same point, then where they end up, and the journey they go on to get there.”
