brown shysharks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
brown shysharks are a species of catshark and they reside in the coastal, shallow waters of south africa!
when frightened, this shark curls up with its tail over its eyes, hence the name shyshark
they are around 60-68 cm long and they feed on bony fish and lobsters!
they are typically found in shallow rocky zones to a depth of 110 feet (35m)
they are the largest of all species of catshark
the brown shysharks’ predators are larger sharks and fish, as well as the egg-case-eating mollusks!

Brown Shyshark <3
This shark is harmless to humans and is even considered a minor pest species. Because of this they are usually discarded or killed when hooked.  Shysharks will curl up into balls and cover their faces with the ends of their tails when frightened, which im pretty sure is where they got their name!!
Tumblr media
This shark is sedentary bottom dweller feeder! They feed on boney fishes and also lobsters. They are a sister species of the Dark Shyshark!!
Tumblr media
i think i love them very much and i hope these sharks have a very good day!!

shark of the day: brown shyshark, haploblepharus fuscus
------------------------------------------------------------
brown shysharks, also called plain happies, are smaller sharks despite being the largest of the shyshark family. they can grow to be around 73 cm(~2.4 ft) long. brown shysharks are found around shallow inshore rocky reefs of eastern south africa. they feed primarily on bony fish and lobsters. like others in the shyshark family, brown shysharks will curl into a ring with their tails covering their eyes when threatened.

Jaune: Good morning Everyone.
Ruby: ... Who are you carrying?
Jaune: This is Viol. She's my littlest sister, she's very shy.
Viol: *Curls in on herself*
Yang: Aw! She's so cute!
Viol: *Curls in on herself even More*
Blake: And more flexible than me.
Jaune: Yeah. She doesn't like people all that much. Give her some space.
Weiss: Why'd you bring her in here then?
Jaune: My Mom thinks she needs to get used to people, which is true, so I came to you second.
Ruby: Second?
Jaune: Ren.
RWBY: Oooohhh.
Viol: *Looks up* *Blinks third eyelid*
RW_Y: EEH!
Viol: *Hides again*
Jaune: Nice going guys.
Brown Shysharks will curl into themselves and cover their eyes with their tail when threatened or caught! All sharks have nictating membranes - Third eyelids designed to protect the sensitive organs from parasites and external damage.

Sharks: 5/60
Tumblr media
The brown shyshark looks so much like a catfish it's extremely precious. Baby shark baby shark baby shark
The brown shyshark grows up to about 24 inches(60cm) so it's extremely small compared to other sharks!!! I couldn't find anything detailing the weight though :(
They're usually populating the waters around South Africa in rocky/sandy bottomed places. I also couldn't find any age range💀. I don't think it has been studied very much, so there's not much info. Just bask in how cute the lil sharkie is!!!
